Rescue Me ID: 14-12-17-00061Ozzie (male)

Chihuahua Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Ozzie is searching for a forever home. This little guy is so easy to get along with, and is going to fit in great when he finds a new home! Ozzie has a loving, loyal, energetic personality and wants to be friends with everyone he meets. This little pup doesn't have an aggressive bone in his body. His friendly nature means he will do well with a family as long as the children are old enough to be gentle and handle a young and energetic type of pup. One of our favorite things about little Ozzie is his adorable looks. This little guy has a sweet face and the funniest long legs for such a little guy, add in the cute flop ears to the picture ... (Read More)and this is one adorable little fella. Ozzie is especially loyal to his people. He LOVES his humans. He will follow you around the house longing for your attention. He loves to cuddle with you at night, and hang around and watch television with you. He loves to sit in your lap and be petted. Anything you do, Ozzie is willing to be there with you. Being young and full of puppy energy this guy will need a home with people who are committed to playing and exercising him every day. Ozzie would be very unhappy left alone in an apartment for long periods of time so we will be looking to find him a home with space for this little pup to play in. To prepare for his adoption, he's been neutered and given all of his age appropriate vaccinations. Ozzie is also Micro-chipped and has been tested and shown negative for heart worms. Ozzie gets along great with other dogs and being extremely social would be well suited to a home with a doggy friend to keep him company. He is already potty trained and crate trained and is learning how to walk on a leash. He loves playing with toys and is super happy being held and petted. This little guy is full of love and is longing to be loved forever by his humans. If you want to learn more about Ozzie please contact his foster mama using the info provided on this site. ** Friends of Cats and Dogs preforms a home visit with the prospective animal so out of state / long distance adoptions will not be considered. Poodle Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Max is a total sweetie pie with an affectionate, playful spirit. He LOVES to snuggle and give kisses. Max is just the right size to fit perfectly in any available lap and is convinced that is where he belongs. He is happiest when he is right there with you whatever you're doing. Max was surrendered to us from an abuse/ neglect situation and because of his less than pleasant past, he is a wee bit shy towards men and loud children. He would be best-suited to an active couple or small family with older children. He will need a home with people that love him enough to walk, play and shower him with love and attention every day. Max is well ... (Read More)behaved in the house and so far has not had any accidents in his foster mama's home or his crate. He walks well on a leash and enjoys car rides. Max gets along with other smaller dogs and doesn't seem too interested in cats. To prepare for his adoption, he's been neutered and given all of his age appropriate vaccinations. Max has a super soft, fluffy coat that will need regular grooming and care. To find out more about Max please contact his foster mom using the contact info on this site. ***** Friends of cats and dogs preforms a home visit with the prospective animal so out of state/ long distance adoptions will not be considered. Dachshund Mix

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Low Energy, Very Submissive

I found this sweet boy in the middle of the road in a wooded area in Leeds with no tag or collar. He seems to be very sweet and although I don't know his age, I do not think he is a puppy. He is very calm and did well in the car. I think he weighs about 10 pounds. I need a home for him because I have no provisions for a dog at my home at this time.

Bo is a very sweet dog who is crate trained and loves to be indoors. The sad part about his situation is that for most of his life he was used as a bait dog. He has been seeing a trainer regularly to try and change some of his behavior, but sadly is not a good fit for his current home. He is not good around other male dogs or any cats. It is unknown how he is around children. He can only belong to a home where is either the only dog or the only male dog.

If you have either a large yard, or just a really large heart and are looking for a great guard type dog. Send me a message or call 334-787-0252. We have our 3 year old male Rottweiler available that has always been an indoor baby but needs to be around adults not children. He has become what I would call 'fear aggressive' toward our toddler grand baby who stays with us about four days/nights a week. Has been raised with other female Rottweilers but will do best as an only dog due to he has always been the alpha. References WILL BE REQUIRED. Well over 110 lbs but all muscle, neutered, UTD on all shots.... always cared for by Opelika ... (Read More)Animal Hospital including his neutering. Pedigree available. (Less)

Loving but protective 11 lb. male chihuahua mix. Dudley loves attention & loves to curl up in your lap, but he takes time to warm up to people other than his family. He's never bitten anyone but will growl at strangers. Once he's around someone for a little bit, he's fine. He seems to do well with small dogs, mainly female, but does not like big dogs. We'd love to find him a loving & caring home since we work more hours & can't spend much time with him. He is up to date on all vaccinations & very healthy. We will include his bed, food, treats, shampoo, toys & blanket.

Suzie Q was an owner surrender. The owner claimed that she did not get along with one of her other dogs. She is in a foster home with EIGHT other dogs and gets along beautifully. This girl loves to sit in your lap and sleep curled up beside you. Can anyone find room for her in your heart?

Cain is an 9mo old working line Rottweiler. He is a sweet dog and I have thousands invested in him. Unfortunately I work out of town and the wife cannot handle him. Cain actually bit my 10 yr old daughter Saturday and can no longer be kept in our house. The wife is keeping him in his kennel and letting him out in the back yard for now. My daughter is fine. Has a few scratches and bruises on her arms. Not sure if this was an attack or play. I was not there. I would love to recoup some of my investment, but that is not a deal breaker. Paid $1800 for Cain. Paid $1500 for obedience and protection training thru Ralph Gibson's World of ... (Read More)Dogs in Alabaster, Al. (Less)

Mac is approx 10 months old per prior owner. HW negative, yellow lab mix, about 50 lbs. He is super sweet and submissive. He loves other dogs large and small alike. He gets down on the ground when he meets a small dog to show them he is friendly. Prior owner had one year old grandchild out by their fish pond and Mac (who they called Flea) walked by and accidentally knocked her into the fish pond. The owner tried to shoot Mac but his other grandchild begged for his life and brought him to me. He would be a perfect service dog for someone.

Sid Vicious is highly energetic dog. We love this dog but unfortunately he is not good with our 4 year old daughter he is very aggressive when playing and jumps on her a lot. We recently found out we have another baby on the way and that has made us worry about how he will do with constant crying. He deserves to be with someone who can invest in all the attention he needs. He can be very lovable and is a lap dog he also can be very mischievous. As soon as you turn your back he is getting into something. Some training would do him a lot of good. There is no fee we are only interested in finding him a good home with someone who will love him.

He has some dominance and territorial issues with people he does not know or are not around him on a regular basis. We really want him to go to a loving family with lots of time to spend with him. He knows a few tricks and loves to play catch and fetch....he is such a loving dog to his 'pack' and he is a watch dog which is not much heard of for labs evidently. He is up to date on all his shots.

This is an American Pit bull. She is a female who is about 8 years old named Brownie May. She is very friendly and lovable with kids and adults. She loves to play outside and loves the summer...she loves to sunbathe, lol. She is an indoor dog. She is spoiled. She sleeps on furniture and she loves to eat. She gets a long with most dogs...but not all...doesn't like cats. All in all she is a great housedog. She has been fixed. She never had puppies. She just had her yearly rabies shot and a 9 in 1 shot so she is up to date on all vaccines. I need to find her a loving and caring home with a fenced in yard if possible.

Little Girl is a sweet, inside only lap dog who is in need of a loving home. She was a rescue for us and has been a joy since we have had her. She did test positive for heartworm when we took her to the vet a year ago, but we chose the less aggressive method of treatment of monthly Trifexis tablets due to her young age. She had a dental cleaning in the spring.

Pit Bull    Age: Young Adult

Her name is Chopper, she is a very sweet and lovable dog, she was brought up with her brother Snow-ball but he passed away this winter and she has been alone since then. She has been kept outside in this pen and let out to run very infrequently. She has been fixed and just wants someone to love her and treat her as part of the family. She craves for the human touch but gets it infrequently, she is fed and watered every day. She loves to run when she gets out of the pen. She will need to be house trained again because she does not know anything but the pen that she is kept in, I do not know how much she is let out to run, The owner is talking ... (Read More)about taking her to a shelter and because she is a pit mix she will be put down without a chance of living a happy life with someone who will truly love her as she deserves to be loved. She is a great dog and will make someone very happy that will take the time to learn with her. I am afraid that she will die of neglect left her or be destroyed if taken to a shelter. Please help Chopper find a good loving home. She is around 2 years to 3 years old I think it is closer to 2 years old though. I think the owner has been giving her the shots from the coop or something like that. I know that she had all of her shots up to date when I took her to be fixed when she was about 8 months old. The owner asked me to help find Chopper a home or she will take her to the pound (animal shelter) and that she won't keep her very much longer because she does not want to walk out to the pen to take care of her in the winter when it is cold. Her husband used to do this but he recently passed away. (Less)

My adoption cost is very affordable and includes my adoption fee, spay/neuter, vaccinations, deworming, license (if you live within Huntsville city limits), a collar and personalized ID tag. Please know that a high percentage of animals in the shelter are brought in as strays. It is impossible to know anything about a stray animal and many times we can only make our best educated guess on breeds, age, etc. Every animal you see posted here has passed a general temperament test as performed by shelter staff and it is considered to be non-aggressive. ADOPTION FEES: (check for specials and promotions) Dogs: $80 - 170 - includes spay/neuter surgery, vaccinations, rabies voucher, deworming, *heart worm and flea/tick prevention; purebred dogs and puppies tend to cost more and dogs that have been in the shelter longer will probably cost less. Schnauzer    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Spayed, Needs Vaccinations

I have a 7yo female Miniature Schnauzer named Connie who is in need of a welcoming caretaker. Connie came to my home on New Years Eve in 2007. She was about 6mo. She has been a constant companion since... She was born in July 2007 and was not registered. At the time it seemed too difficult to provide necessary info to register a solid white Schnauzer. When I got married last year, my husband and I moved into an apt and Connie stayed with my mother. This arrangement has worked well temporarily, but she needs permanency. I would love to be able to have Connie in our home, but we have since had a baby... Connie does not do well in a home with ... (Read More)small children or other small animals. She thrives with older ()4yo) children and larger, loving animals. She is temperamental and sassy, as most all Schnauzers are. Connie is solid white with soft, silky hair. She weighs about 14-16lbs, depending on her activity. Connie LOVES being outside and travels well. She also does well on a leash with a harness. Connie enjoys being close to her people. She prefers environments that are less chaotic. Connie would make the perfect addition to a home with older children or senior citizens. She is not incredibly high maintenance, but makes for good company :) Although I am not looking to sell Connie, she will only be available to an approved home. Thank you for understanding. (Less)

Pointer Mix    Age: Puppy

Personality: Average Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Victoria is an extremely shy girl that lost out on the touch and companionship of humans at a very young age. She was found running the woods in a small community in Northeast AL It is sad that Vicky never felt the touch, hug or warmth of a human hand until she was 5 months old. She will come close to her humans but she does not want to be coddled, cuddled or held in anyway. She will allow a pat on the head of a scratch behind the ears. She is NOT agressive in any shapre or form. She would make a wonder pet if given the chance but needs lots of space. If you are looking for a companion, but not a lap dog, or a dog that wants constant ... (Read More)attention, then Vicky is the dog for you. She must not ever be allowed to roam free. She has to be contained behind a fence or on a leash at all times. Vicky will only be allowed to go to an experiended trainer or behavorist. Vicky is great with other dogs, she walks well on a leash and she is crate trained. If you would like her to become a house pet then some basic training is all she needs. She will come in the house but only on her terms, and she is by no means a lap buddy that will snuggle on the couch with you. Please consider that she is a good outside dog but we would prefer in a house enviroment. (Less)

Beagle Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Adult Women Only
Personality: Average Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Bill is a sweet but very shy dog so he is going to need someone that has a lot of patience and understanding. I recommend a quiet house hold with older children over the age of 12. Bill came from a horrible hoarding situation and had very little to no interaction with people other than his owners. Bill will warm up but someone with the understandinfg and experience is his only hope at a bright and happy future. Bill is neutered and HW negative. He will sleep in a crate and may at times use his crate as his refuge from the outside world. Only serious inquires and experienced trainers may apply.

Lola was adopted to a family more than a year ago and sadly she had to be returned at no fault of her own. Due to changes and difficulties on the families part, they were unable to care for Lola. Rescue Me ID: 14-11-19-00610Athos (male)

Siberian Husky    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Athos is great with other dogs. He lights up when other dogs are around. He is shy with people. It is pretty obvious he was not treated well by humans in the past. He has warmed up to people while in our care, and likes his foster family alot. He will ask for attention by poking with his snout or laying his head in a lap. He can be nervous with new people or new situations but will improve with time and patience. Athos would do best in a home with another dog as he feels more comfortable with another confident dog around. Athos is currently enrolled in a nose work class and is doing very well. This training is helping to build his confidence ... (Read More)and overcome his fear of new places and people. He is progressing well. Siberian Husky    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Arthritis

Simone is a gorgeous girl. She had a hip injury as a puppy that apparently wasn't treated properly so she sometimes has a limp, especially after she's been playing. It doesn't seem to bother her overmuch and doesn't stop her from wanting to play, though she will need to rest more than other dogs her age. The veterinarian said there isn't anything to be done to correct the issue at this time. Simone gets along with other dogs and likes to play. She is learning not to get overly excited with humans when she plays. She's still young and hasn't had alot of training until she entered our program. Siberian Husky    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Enzo came in to rescue with his brother Alaric after their previous owner became very ill and unable to care for them any longer. They were well cared for previously and are ready for a new home. They've been separated in foster care and are doing fine. Enzo gets along with other dogs and has been attending doggie daycare while in foster care, but he will need continued socialization. It's obvious he and his brother only had one another in the way of dog-dog interactions in their previous home. Enzo can be testy with the other dog in his foster home, and has decided he is the boss, though the human has reminded him who is actually the boss ... (Read More)in the house. Enzo will benefit from positive reinforcement training that includes Nothing In Life is Free and a Siberian experienced owner. Enzo will play with other dogs, he just wants to be in charge. Enzo is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and parasite free and on prevention. (Less)

Alaric came in to rescue with his brother Enzo after their previous owner became very ill and unable to care for them any longer. They were well cared for previously and are ready for a new home. They've been separated in foster care and are doing fine. Alaric is great with people. He's calm and accommodating, enjoys walking and responds well to positive reinforcement training. He needs the human in the house to make the point that his lot in life is not to be in charge. Rhodesian Ridgeback Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered

Marvin is around 1.5 years old. He is loving, and knows basic commands such as sit, shake, down, etc. I rescued him from the pound; he had been a stray and was very skinny. Marvin enjoys playing with other dogs; he does well with most of them. He is good with people and very friendly with children, though due to his size I would not recommend him being in a home with young children. He is around 85 pounds. He is an indoor dog, but likes to run around in a big yard with a privacy fence. He would like to have a dog friend in his new adoptive home.
