Rescue Me ID: 15-07-27-00630Girl (female)

Lab Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Not Good with Cats
Health: Needs to be Spayed, Vaccinations Current

I rescued this sweet girl from my work, but unfortunately I am unable to keep her. I already have 2 large dobermans, and I cannot afford nor do I have space for another dog. If I were in a better situation I would definitely keep her because she is very sweet and good with my dogs. She does want to chase my cats though. She is only 37 lbs currently and has been vet checked and vaccinated. She has not been spayed, but I would be willing to have it done or cover the cost. I'm desperate to find her a good home and I am willing to travel to bring her to a forever home. If you are looking to adopt, please consider her. She would make someone a ...     Are you looking for a new cuddle buddy? Lucky you, I'm looking for my furever home! I enjoy giving kisses, cuddling in bed, and relaxing. Although, I look beautiful now, that hasn't always been the case. I had a rough start to life, my puppy and I ended up at the Columbus Animal Care & Control Center. A local rescue pulled my puppy but not me. Luckily, my foster parents saw I was a special girl. They've helped me come out of my shell and even took me to the vet to help me feel better. I am now spayed, microchipped, and up-to-date on shots! I think I like kids, but I haven't had the chance to be around them much. I do see kids on my walks, ... (Read More)and I enjoy when they pet and love on me! I love all the attention so I would prefer to be your only furbaby, but if I'm not, I need my new fur-siblings to understand I like to be the boss. My name is Mama because I like to treat my fur-siblings like my babies and make sure they're behaving. I MUST go to a home that allows bully breeds. I've been through so much in my short life and never want to be in the situation of finding another home. I'd also prefer to be an indoor dog, since I'm housetrained and get hot easily! I will be the perfect addition to any family willing to give me a chance. I promise I'll do my best to greet you at the door every day and give you tons of love every chance I get! If you're interested or have any questions, please feel free to contact my foster mom! To adopt, you must fill out application, have vet references, and pay a $50 adoption fee. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-07-27-00323Milah (female)

Border Collie    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: High Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

I am CONTEMPLATING rehoming my full-blooded, short-haired, Border Collie, Milah (not registered). She has been spayed, UTD on rabies, crate trained, and house trained to use a dog door. She will be 1 year old in October. I do not want to rehome her!! But she is scared of small children and we are going to be having our first little one in November. The ONLY way I will rehome her is if I find what I feel is a PERFECT fit for her. She is fine with older kids and is good with other animals in general other than birds. Ducks are okay because they can get in the water and swim faster than she can. But free roaming chickens wouldn't make it with ... (Read More)her around. Haha She has a STRONG herding instinct with livestock type animals (horses, goats, cows, sheep, etc.), which causes her to chase them a LOT and she is EXTREMELY intelligent!! She knows "come", "sit", "down", and "shake" and she learned those commands VERY QUICK. She actually learned "shake" by watching me teach it to another dog...She ran over and sat next to the other dog and watched us and when I held out my hand to the other dog the third time, Milah put her paw in my hand!! She is easy to pen up if you need to separate her at any time for any reason outside...she's not an "escape artist". She knows her name very well and minds very well; although, it does take her a minute or two to "snap out of it" if she's on the chase and you call her. But she is still a puppy and doesn't get to run enough over here, honestly, for her energy level. Milah is a very sweet natured dog that LOVES to cuddle and be loved on. She is a great inside dog if you can stand the shedding; if you shaved her in the summer time then she wouldn't shed quite so bad. She does what is called "submissive peeing" sometimes and she does take a little time to warm up to new people. She tends to warm up to people faster if she's not at home, though. If you are SERIOUSLY interested in my baby Milah then please PM me. I am not due until November so I will be taking my time finding her the perfect home. (Less)

Boston Terrier    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Heartworm Positive

Booboo is our resident ham, posing for the camera in all sorts of positions. He is a 1.5 yr old pure bred Boston Terrier, who has had a really rough life so far. We were told that he was attacked repeatedly by a neighbor's dog, who was 4 times his size. The owner stated he did not have the funds to get the medical attention that Booboo needed, and he couldn't stop the attacks, so he was planning to have Booboo euthanized. Thankfully one of his friends, who is an animal advocate talked him into letting him come to Furever Friends. When he came to us he had two large knots on his head, and two bad places under his neck, as well as serious ... (Read More)damage to his left ear and it was torn badly! He was so badly injured that, during the healing process, the scar tissue caused him to be deaf in that ear. We had our vet do the surgery to correct it and he can now hear again, though his torn ear could not be totally reattached at the bottom, but it is healing nicely. We have had Booboo brought up to date on all his shots, neutered and started on monthly flea and tick prevention. Unfortunately, to further add to this little boy's trauma he was found to be heart worm positive. We have him scheduled for his treatments on Aug. 3rd. Once he gets his HW treatments, he will require 6-8 weeks of low activity requiring leash walking only and no rough and tumble play with other dogs or cats. Booboo will go in a crate but would much rather sit with his human companion and sleep on a soft bed. He is leash trained and rides very well in a car. His adoption fee is $200, which won't come close to covering all his expenses.     I found this dog standing in the middle of the road and he was there when I was coming back in the same spot-just standing. He appeared to have the mange but I took him to my vet and he was negative for any type of mange. He said it was an allergy. We have 5 other dogs and I just cant keep him. He has been no trouble and good as gold, slept on a bed I made him at my back door and been no trouble with my other dogs and cat. He needs somebody to help him recover from his skin problem. I have no other choice than to take him to our local shelter. Please somebody take him. Thank you, Stacy.

Meet Bonita. We believe she is a spaniel mixed with a type of hunting/hound dog. She's no more than a year old may be right at a year. This poor girl literally grew up in a pound so we pulled her and gave her much more room to run and another dog to play with until she is adopted. She is very sweet and very loving with people and other animals. She gets along GREAT with other dogs.. Very submissive but also playful. Bonita has not been spayed yet due to lack of funds. She will make a WONDERFUL addition to ANY home!! If you would like to adopt her now then we will simply require her adoption fee in advance so that she can be spayed and ... (Read More)received a rabies vaccine before going to her new home. She has already been dewormed. Bonita's adoption fee is $80 (the cost of her spay). (Less)

This is Rambo. Well, Bo or Bo-Bo when he is behaving :). Rambo is a bull terrier. He may have a little pit mix in him but he is mostly bull terrier. He was left at a gas station at 5 weeks old because they thought he was deaf and blind. With care and good nutrition, at about 7 weeks old, we found he was perfectly fine! We've had him for about one year. He is nuetered and fully house trained. He is a house dog and adopter MUST allow him to be a house dog. A nice yard would be good since he loves the outdoors, but not so much alone. He needs a dog buddy or person buddy that will spend alot of time with him. A little more effort and he could ... (Read More)become a well trained pup. He's really smart. He is white with pink pigments and liver spots under his coat. He would sunburn if left in sun too long. My goal was to raise him out of that little puppy phase and get him neutered and fully housebroken and ready for a forever home. I must admit, it has been a really really tough decision. He's a clown and we love him! We also have 2 older Great Danes that he has grown up with. They've done great, but Bo is coming into his own and challenging my female a bit. He's just a little too much for my aging Danes so I want him to find a younger, active owner that will spend alot of great time with him. He loves to ride and he loves his walks and hikes. He behaves pretty well during a bath. He's fully vetted and about 50-55 lbs. Anyone interested in adopting him will need to provide vet references and allow a home visit if possible. We live in central Alabama and prefer a local adoption. In case it doesnt work out, we would want him surrendered back to us. We do allow you to bring pets in to see if they get along before adopting, and if you elect to do so, make sure your pet(s) are COMPLETELY up to date on vaccinations, especially bordatella (kennel cough). ADOPTION FEES Cats seven months and older are currently $35 as a special Spring and Summer promotion that includes spay or neuter surgery, rabies vaccination, microchip, city license tag if applicable, feline AIDS/LEUKEMIA test, and may also include other basic vaccinations when applicable. Kittens six months and younger are $50. Dogs are $35 for adults, $50 for puppies. This includes spay or neuter surgery, rabies vaccination, microchip, city license tag if applicable, canine heart worm test over six months of age, and may also include other basic vaccinations when applicable. LICENSE FEES $35 - Lifetime license not included in the adoption fee PER CITY ORDINANCE, DOMESTIC ANIMALS ARE REQUIRED TO WEAR A CITY LICENSE TAG WHILE RESIDING IN THE CITY LIMITS OF HUNTSVILLE. It is recommended and the responsibility of the adopter to put their new pet on their choice of heart worm and flea/tick prevention within 30 days of adoption in order to ensure a happy and healthy pet. Pit Bull Mix

Health: Needs to be Spayed, Abused/Neglected, Fearful/Anxious

Brindle; sort of like light stripes; she is light brown in color. Her eyes are beautiful, almost the same color as her fur. She may be full-blooded but unsure. She looks like a pitbull with large jaws and huge molars. I don't think she is very old but she looks to have had a litter of puppies recently. She was found under my front steps--abused/neglected and was skin and bones; had abrasions on head, back, and legs/feet and also had a fishing lure stuck in her abdomen. She also has scars on abdomen. Thought she may be mean since she was apparently abused but turned out she is very social (she loves to be where people are). She loves ... (Read More)adults and children. No aggression observed. We have fed her and she has filled out nicely. My husband wants me to take her to shelter on Saturday. We have already have our pet family and were not looking to increase it. It breaks my heart that she suffered abuse and neglect and will be subject to this again if the wrong person gets her. I have not tried her around cats and would probably not give her up, except I worry one of my cats may get out of the house and that she may not/will not be cat-friendly. She does not act aggressive towards my other dogs although they have bossed her. She seems very trusting of us. Please if you can give her attention, love, and appropriate care, then contact us and contact us soon. (Less)

Poodle    Age: Young Puppy

Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Spayed, Vaccinations Current

10 Week old Female AKC STANDARD POODLE. This standard will weigh over 55 pounds when grown. This puppy is from a breeder. She was selling her to be a breeder. I know there is no way to save them all but I did save her from a life of being bred. I also bought the AKC papers so if anyone wanted to do agility training, she is good to go. She is a very smart girl & is about 98% house trained. She has free run of the house and lets me know when she needs to do her business. She is learning basic commands, leash training, & sleeping longer at night. She loves to play with the other dogs, no matter what size. She weighs around 20 pounds ... (Read More)now. She doesn't mind it when she is bathed & is doing pretty good being groomed. She will come when called and walks besides me. when we walk in the back fields. I do require an application be filled out. She needs to be spayed after her first heat or when her bones fill out. You need to have a fenced yard. She has a lot of energy but she is a standard so is smart enough to know when to stop. She is learning so fast, loves to ride, chase balls, raid the toy boxes, loves those treats, but is still a puppy. She is a very sweet, loving girl. She has older siblings that are service dogs. Her personality seems to be wise and a clown mix. I've found that poodles adopt to almost any life style and will take on their companions personalities quiet a bit too. The vet says she is a very healthy puppy. Her mom is a solid black 55 pound and her dad is a parti ( black & white) who weighs around 72 pounds. If you are interested in giving this puppy a forever home, please let me know. (Less)

Pit Bull    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)

Health: Neutered, Abused/Neglected, Aggressive

We have a 1-1 1/2 year old pit bull unfortunately we cannot keep him any longer we are looking for a home for him with no other pets or small children due to his aggression towards other dogs and hyperness and rough play we are asking a rehoming fee of $100 to ensure just that. We do have all papers for him he is chipped just needs rabies. We adopted him from a rescue in California and this baby was set on fire and 68% of his body including internal organs burned but he is still in good spirit and is so loving he's a big baby big lap dog loves cuddling swimming and baths he's a gentle giant he is just too hyper for my small children and too ... (Read More)aggressive for our other two dogs he loves baths, car rides, and swimming. He knows the basic commands sit, stay, lay, and rollover. I've contacted several rescues and no response and I've posted him on several places and no response. I don't want him to go to the pound so I'm trying my hardest to find him a good home with no small children and no other pets. He is not house trained due to the charring of his internal organs he cant hold it long and being as I have two small children I don't have time to house break him he loves to cuddle and really needs to be inside due to his scarring and easily sunburned skin. He will come with a collar, leash, and food bowls.TIA (Less)

Meet Mocha!! We believe she is a 1-2 year old Boxer/Pointer mix. She's SUPER sweet to everybody and everything...she can be a little bossy to other dogs occasionally but nothing bad. She would be great in any home!! She does like to play but she is not overly hyper. She will walk on a leash but I don't know if she is housebroken or not. She had scrapes all over her when she was found. It looked like she was thrown from a car/truck...poor baby.

Personality: Low Energy, Very Dominant
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Arthritis

Old dog whose owner recently passed away at age 85. He just needs someone to coddle him the way she did. It was her wish for him to die and be buried with her, but I chose to preserve his life. He likes to be left alone by kids and other animals. He doesn't have enough teeth to hurt anyone, but he will bite if instigated (like by my 2 year old) or scared by a stranger. This needs to be an open adoption so that I can see that he is doing well as my grandmother would have wanted. Also, he must be buried near her upon death. I will take care of this. He just isn't doing well with my 2 cats and 3 kids, all equally rambunctious.

A little about Lucy: She is a Jack Russell mix. Very energetic and loving. She is very smart. She CANNOT be around other dogs or small children. She is very skiddish. She is spayed and up to date on all her shots. She weighs about 20 lbs. I adopted Lucy in 2011 when she was 6 months old. I was the third person to adopt her. The person who initially owned her, abused her. The second people who adopted her brought her back because she chewed up carpet. Two years ago we adopted another dog who we got when she was 3 weeks old. Lucy and our other dog got along really great. They played and snuggled like they were family. My other dog is now 2 ... (Read More)and a few months ago just out of the blue, Lucy started attacking our other dog over nothing. The fights got really bad. My parents took her to their house and she has been there for the past few months. Up until this past week she did really well with our dogs at home (one is 10 and the other is 13). This past week her and the 10 year old dog have gotten into fights where Lucy just lunges at her and won't let go. My parents can't handle her trying to fight our older dogs. We have tried medication and training, but nothing seems to have helped. I hate to give her up, but there isn't anything else I know to do. I really hope that you will be able to help me find a good home for her. She is a very loving dog and would make a good companion for someone without any other pets. (Less)

For an application or more information, please do not reply to this group. Email were4dogs@gmail.com to learn more about Ranger. Ranger was spotted running across a highway nearly starved to death and with no hair in mid July 2014. He looked so lost and depressed. His rescuer had to set a trap to catch him and after three months of tracking him, she trapped Ranger and brought him home. He would not come to his rescuer while he was stray, but it only took him a day to show that he wanted to be a part of a pack and a family! As you see by his pictures, Ranger is in perfect health. And just look at this stunner! Ranger is estimated to ... (Read More)be around 18 months-2 years old. He has a lot of playful puppy-like tendencies. He's smart, happy, playful, and obedient. Ranger appears to be a purebred Foxhound. He is a submissive male who is best suited for a home with one or two dogs that enjoy a good romp around the yard and some tug-on-toy time. When they aren't playing, Ranger is a true snuggler and doesn't mind sharing a dog bed with a canine companion. He would do well in an active home, on a farm with other animals, or in a home with someone active that would take him on walks. You would never know he was stray because he loves people. Ranger is great around kids. He is a tall dog and because of his size, we will carefully consider any home with small children. Ranger is fully vetted, up to date on vaccines, neutered, heartworm negative, microchipped, and taking heartworm prevention and flea/tick prevention. He currently weighs 45-50 pounds. Application, vet reference, fenced yard (5 feet high or taller), and brief home visit required. Because of his height, we prefer Ranger go to a home with a taller fence, however he is an inside dog with outside privileges. Ranger's $175 tax deductible Adoption donation covers a part of his vetting and helps us save other dogs like Ranger. Email were4dogs@gmail.com for an application. (Less)

Nala, is an extremely sweet dog. We have three children (ages 2-6), and she is WONDERFUL with all of them. She was found on the side of the road about two years ago, and it was quickly discovered that she has an unexpected aggression toward other dogs. She accidentally killed a chihuahua when it charged our fence two years ago. She felt that our safety was threatened due to the dog charging. Nala is a dog that comes indoors and outdoors. She currently lives with an adult (male) german shepard mix, and does well with him. We have tried to socialize her with other dogs, and have been unsuccessful. We would love to provide her a home ... (Read More)without any other dogs where she could live out the rest of her years. A shelter is not an option, as she has become like family to us. We have a hard time keeping her living next door to the neighbors where she previously killed their chihuahua. It is a constant stress that she will injure another one of there small animals.     ****** ADOPTION PENDING ****** Hi there, My name is Winnie and I'm the Cutest, sweetest girl EVER!!! My foster mom says that my big brown eyes make her melt and I keep her laughing with my funny little personality. My tail is always wagging and I love to be cuddled. I'm very curious about what people are doing and am happy to follow you around the house and keep you company. At 10 pounds I'm just the right size to scoop up for a hug or to fit in your lap for some quality TV time. Winnie is a playful gal who loves to romp around in a back yard and is ready for a walk whenever you are. She's a happy girl who loves to snuggle and will ... (Read More)sit in your lap or by your side. She has a unique easy care coat and a wonderful personality. Winnie is a pure breed wire haired dachshund and is a little under 2 years old. Winnie is very good at minding her foster momma. She is house and crate trained and walks really well on a leash. To prepare for her new home Winnie has been fixed, micro chipped and given her vaccinations. We do our best to place our fosters in an environment to suit their individual needs, with this goal in mind, we will be looking for a home for Winnie with an owner who can give this young pup the regular walks and exercise she needs to be happy. We will need to place her in a home with a fenced in yard so she can get plenty of time outside. She would not be suited to living in an apartment. Winnie is very playful and can be a bit much for other small dogs or young children to handle so we will not be placing her in a home with other very small dog or young children present. If you are looking for a pup to make you smile and be a new best friend this just may be your perfect match. If you would like more info about Winnie and to find out how our adoption process is handled please contact her foster mom using the info provided on this site. ***** Friends of Cats and Dogs Foundation preforms a home visit with the prospective animal. Out of state/area adoptions will not be possible. We apologize for any disappointment this causes. ***** (Less)
