Rescue Me ID: 14-07-24-00694Phoebe (female)

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament

Hi, my name is Phoebe, and I am a female Shepherd/Chow mix. My foster Mom says I am a blast and she marvels at my playfulness. As you can see in my videos, I LOVE to play in the water, so a pool is a must! I like to dive and put my head right in the water while playing in my pool. Apparently I have medium energy, and I overheard my Foster Mom saying I have the cutest floppy front feet. I can sometimes be a little persistent when I want to play with other dogs, even if the other dogs are not so inclined to rough house as much as I do. I'm learning commands such as: down, sit, stay, wait, and walking on a leash. I learn quickly and desire to ... (Read More)please! I am very much a lap dog, and I love to be held, so if you like that too, we will be a great match. I am very affectionate with my people, and with the right training, I would also be an excellent service dog. I focus very well, and love to be with people, so I would be a great dog for someone who needs a dog 24/7. I am working house and crate trained. The attached videos are of me playing Hunter, and showing off my pool skills. If you'd like to meet Phoebe, please fill out the online app today! Adoption fee is $225 and covers microchip, DAPP, Rabies, Heart Worm test and spay/neuter. Adoption fees also allow us to continue saving animals. Animal ID: 386Minnie (female)

Chinese Crested    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Low Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Name: Minne Breed: Chinese Crested Mix Gender: Female Age: 12 Years Weight: 9 lbs 'It's a heck-of-a start, being able to recognize what makes you happy.' -Lucille Ball Hello humans. Let me share what makes me happy: soft doggie toys, little balls that I can roll around & chase & relaxing with my human companions. While I may be named 'Minnie', my foster family says I completely resemble Lucille Ball - beautiful, goofy & optimistic! At 12-years-young, I have lots of livin' yet to do! While I may not want to summit any of those Colorado mountains, I absolutely love playing with my toys and taking short walks to smell the beautiful ... (Read More)scents this world has to offer. Speaking of senses, my eye sight is not perfect - my remaining eye has glaucoma which requires daily eye drops. With that said, my non-perfect sight makes me appreciate my fantastic sense of smell as well as the opportunity to experience touch & cuddles! I'm currently residing with 4 canine companions and lovin' every minute of it! I also get along well with absolutely all humans I've encountered. With that said, it would probably be best if my Forever Family includes only adults and older, more predictable children (those toddlers can unintentionally be a bit rough!) I haven't yet met a cat but I'd likely cohabitate just fine with all friendly creatures. I'm looking for a calmer but fun-loving home to share my daily romps and naps with. I promise to make you smile every day! Maybe sharing my favorite Lucille Ball quote will make you smile today... 'The secret of staying young is to live honestly, eat slowly, and lie about your age.' Haha! If you think I could help you smile forever, please email adopt@pawscoadoptions.org or fill out an application at www.pawscoadoptions.org today! (Less)

Sox, or Soxi as I like to call him, is a very sweet boy! He LOVES people. He has never been around younger children, so his behavior with them is unknown. He also prefers to be the only animal in the household. He is completely potty and house-trained. He does not chew or dig. His favorite thing to do is take naps on his doggie bed. Boy, let me tell you, he has one of the funniest and cutest personalities I have ever seen in a dog. I love him so very much, and I hate that I have to find him a new home. My family home is being foreclosed on, and I can't take him with me to where I have to move. It breaks my heart to have to give him up, and I ... Yorkie    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament

Herbie Yorkie Male 4 years old 15 lbs Meet Herbie Hidey Ho! I'm Herbie, a darling 4-year-old, 15lb.Yorkshire terrier mix, and I may be small, but there is nothing tiny about the love I have to give my forever family! I'm a bit on the shy side, and I'm looking for someone who can be calm and patient with me, while helping me become confident and comfortable in my new home! My foster dad jokes that I remind him of Tim Taylor's kind, but reserved neighbor, Wilson, from the sitcom 'Home Improvement.' From behind his fence, Wilson kindly offers Tim support and real friendship, but is still able retreat to his yard for some 'alone time.' (I ... (Read More)don't have a fence, but I will curl up for a snooze in my crate when I need to recharge.) If you want to see my animated side, just take me outside! There's just something about running around in the grass and sniffing out all of the interesting smells that makes me forget all about my insecurities as I enjoy the great outdoors. (I'm looking forward to lots of fun walks with my new family!) I'm a pretty well behaved little guy and I'm potty trained and crate trained. I hope my new family will teach me lots of fun new things, once I've become a bit more confident. For now, I'll just be happy to spend some calm, quiet time together as we get to know (and love) one another.     Otis Lhasa Apso mix Male 3yrs 20 lbs OMD! (That's 'Oh My Dog' for you humans who aren't fluent in Doglish.) I cannot believe what I've heard!?!? Those annoying political commercials are back! Well...if you can't escape 'em, join 'em! Hello, Colorado! I'm Otis and I'm running for cutest-Colorado-rescue-dog! I'm a hard-working pup who is eagerly looking for my amazing forever home! I'm quite a friendly guy who enjoys the company of all humans (even those young'uns who aren't yet of voting age) and fellow canines I've encountered. I find felines rather boring so I tend to ignore them (given that they don't have opposable thumbs, I know ... (Read More)they can't complete their ballots so I don't have to work to earn their vote!). I'm still trying to master leash-walking (sometimes I just get a bit too excited and vocal when I see other candidates..err'|dogs on leash!) so could use some training in that department. I've already mastered potty training so your floors are safe and I'm past the puppy stage so I won't be getting into too much trouble in the chewing department either! Like most politicians, I have a lot to say (that's a polite way of saying I can be a bit of a talker...'er barker when left alone) so apartment-living probably isn't for me. Just had to tell you that...after all we all want honesty and transparency in our politicians. If a happy, energetic pup who loves LOVES belly rubs might fit well into your family, please fill out an application on the PawsCo website or email adopt@pawscoadoptions.org. Dalmatian    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Female Dogs Only, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Jax is a great Dalmatian! He turned 3 the end of March. We have loved having Jax since he was a puppy and he's been a great dog. Recently he's become temperamental around our kids' friends. He hasn't been doing well around large groups of people/kids. We have four kids and we just can't be nervous to have him around them anymore. He also recently got out of the back yard and got into a dog fight with our neighbors male dog who has demonstrated aggressive traits towards Jax through our fence..Jax did not initiate this dog fight and it was the only one he has ever been in. This is why I entered that he is good with female dogs. We have a small ... (Read More)mix breed female dog and they're best friends. We're just not sure about male dogs because he's never really been around any and was in that fight, so it's more of an unknown issue. We really don't want to get rid of our Jax and the kids will be very sad when he goes, which is why we'll be selective with choosing his new family. We feel like he needs to probably be in a home with no children. He's been amazing with our kids, but recently not with others. (Less)

Lab Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Seeking a loving and patient home for 3 year old male lab mix. Sam is a very sweet dog, loves playing at the dog park and long sniff-n-stroll walks. He is calm indoors but definitely loves his walks. He doesn't chew or bark but is a digger. He loves belly rubs and can be quite the 'talker'. He does have some anxiety issues and is easily startled. However, he has never acted out when startled, just gets jumpy and needs a lot of reassurance. He is very afraid of thunderstorms and fireworks and would really like to have a place to hide, again he does not act out, just wants to get into a snug corner or under a table. He does not do well ... (Read More)off-leash and can be a little obsessed with squirrels and rabbits! He does fine with my cat, he's very curious and keeps trying to approach her quietly but understands that when she hisses he needs to back off. He is currently an only dog but would probably do well with a buddy. I do not have children but we've encountered kids at the park and he seems to like them. He knows basic obedience commands (sit, heel, leave it, come), but can be somewhat stubborn about doing them. Sam needs a kind-hearted person/people who have some experience with dogs and can give him lots of love, attention, and patience. He does fine in an apartment with very regular exercise but would love a yard. I want to find the very best home for this sweetheart and will request a reference from your vet and to do a home visit. German Shepherd Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

There was a lot of conversation on what mix of breeds Lucky is. We finally came up with a German Shepherd/Border Collie mix...with the help of a few vets and those familiar with different dog breeds. Lucky is just about 25 lbs at 9 months old with his full grown weight estimated to be about 35 lbs of sweetness and love. It seems that Lucky has been searching his entire life for a family to love him...he's just never had the good luck for that to happen. Farfel's rescuer in Texas recognized the goodness and wonderful potential that is living inside this young guy. We are committed to finding a home for Lucky that is very loving with clear ... (Read More)and consistent boundaries. He wants to please more than anything...and is so smart that he has the ability to pick up concepts almost immediately - he just needs to understand what is being asked of him. His family will be one with that is overflowing with love for this dog and can understand that he's a pup who is on his journey learning about the world. This would be a perfect time to introduce Lucky to positive reinforcement obedience class. He's a blank slate just waiting to be taught the skills of excellent behavior out in the community. Lucky will most likely be a bit shy initially...completely understandable after being on death row as such a young pup. But we are very sure that with kind words and patient understanding, he will become the most loyal companion around. Once he bonds , there is nothing in the world that will pull him away from his person or family. His love and gratitude boils over when he knows he's safe in expressing himself. Lucky would be so happy with a family that included him on hikes, camping and backpacking trips or just a walk around the neighborhood. He would also enjoy friendships with gentle dogs...he loves to play and cuddle with his canine friends. He won't disappoint because once he understood what is expected of him, no one will try harder than Lucky. Lucky is a lightly shedding guy (always far less with good nutrition, periodic baths and frequent brushing) and therefore is not recommended for those with severe allergy concerns. Lucky will be arriving on transport in Denver on 7/25. Applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. Rescue Me ID: 14-07-22-00037Rita (female)

Cockapoo Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

The very first thing that Rita, the gorgeous Cockapoo (This photo definitely doesn't do this sweet girl justice!) wants to make clear is that she's a LOVE! Her adorable little nose sniffs shyly at an outstretched hand...and then an ear to ear smile if it's a loving touch - and then before you know it, Rita is in your lap. She's so happy there because her human relationships are so important to her. This 2.5 - 3 year old, 16 lb Cocker/Poodle mix truly lights up when she feels like she's done a good job... some serious hugging and kind words will send her over the moon. Rita can become a bit overwhelmed by rowdiness and very loud ... (Read More)voices...therefore a family with very young children will not be considered. We envision Rita with a retired couple or individual who want an adorable young dog as a family member and companion. She would be so excited to spend her days in the company of her people....she's quiet and mellow enough to while away her afternoon snoozing on the couch or would be just as happy to go for a long, leisurely walk on mountain trails....just as long as she's with her family. She would also be a perfect office dog in a dog-friendly workplace....she would be so well behaved and respectful (as long as she can sleep on your feet...great foot warmer) Rita can have moments of shyness from the turmoil that has been in her life...a guardian who is present and full of good intention can readily get this great pup past any insecure feelings and let her know she is loved and will never be abandoned. Rita, as a Cockapoo, is considered to be a non-shedding breed cross...she will therefore require periodic grooming as well as great nutrition to keep her cotton-soft coat healthy and matt-free. Rita is arriving on transport in Denver on 7/25. Applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. Rescue Me ID: 14-07-21-00675Georg (male)

Maltese Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

George is a very sweat boy. I have paperwork stating he is full blood maltese but he weighs 22 lbs so I know he has other in him. I believe Bichon. He has never had a problem with any person and actually scares me sometimes that he would go with anyone if they spoke nicely to him. He had never had an issue with any dogs unless they initiate it. He is is very friendly with dogs and the only real problem I have ever had is a neighbors yorkie that has attached him, even then he did not seem to know how to defend himself and he has never instigated it. Although he has had yearly teeth cleaning's he has very bad teeth and has lost ... (Read More)several but it does not keep him from eating dry food and many other treats. He also has been diagnosed as hypothyroid and has to take synthroid twice a day which I put in his food or a treat. The cost is only $20.00 for a 3 month supply. I have to move in to take care of a family member who is ill and they are not allowed to have pets. I do not have any family or friends who are able to take him. It breaks my heart because he is a very good boy but I have no choice. He is used to me working from home so he would do well with a like situation or with someone who is retired and can be there with him. Or another dog in the home. He does have separation anxiety and will howl if he is feeling lonely. I will post pictures soon (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 14-07-21-00569Cash (female)

Cavalier Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

The very first thing our rescuer noticed about Cash was his gorgeous eyes in the dim shelter light. She stared at Cash for a bit and saw all the wonderful possibilities in this gorgeous King Charles Cavalier mix. This photo definitely doesn't do this exceptional guy justice! A spa day is in order - underneath the shelter matts & filth is an exceptional white Cavalier mix with hints of apricot in his cottony hair. Cash immediately made it clear that he's a LOVE! His adorable little nose sniffed shyly through the bars at an outstretched hand...and then an ear to ear smile. Cash was brought out of his cage.. and before you know it, he was in ... (Read More)our rescuer's lap. He was shy and a bit frightened but was so happy for the hug and sense of safety. This 8-month old, 9 lb cutie-pie truly lights up when he feels like he's done a good job... some serious belly rubs and kind words will send him over the moon. Cash wants to be a people dog...with a bit of post-shelter confidence and love...he will be overjoyed that he's finally found his forever family. We are searching for an adult-only home or a home with older kids 12+ for this very kind pup. It's not that Cash doesn't like young children.. but he can become overwhelmed by rowdiness and very loud voices - therefore a family with very young kids will not be considered. We envision Cash with a retired couple or individual who want an adorable young dog as a family member and companion. He would be so excited to spend his days in the company of his people....he's quiet and mellow enough to spend some afternoon time snoozing on the couch or would even happier happy to go for a long walk on mountain trails or neighborhood paths....just as long as he's with his person. He would also be a perfect office dog in a dog-friendly workplace....he would be well behaved and respectful (as long as he can sleep on your feet...great foot warmer) He can have moments of shyness from the turmoil that has been in his life...a guardian who is present and full of good intention can readily get this great pup past any insecure feelings and let him know he is loved and will never be abandoned again. Cash will arrive on transport in Denver on 7/25. Applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. Boxer Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Very Dominant
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Needs Vaccinations

Ace is 1 1/2 year old male Red Nose Pitbull, no papers. He is raised in a very loving home with children and does great. He has been around small dogs and done great. Ace is very playful and very loving. Unfortunately, I am moving and new place does not allow pit-bulls. Would rather give Ace to a loving family as opposed to putting him in a shelter where eventually he may be euthanized as pit bulls are not allowed in city limits.

Rescue Me ID: 14-07-21-00414Mesa (male)

Schnauzer Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

There are many, many Schnoodle (Schnauzer/Poodle mix) lovers in the dog world...it's considered to be one of the most desirable breed mixes. This is due to their consistently great temperaments and intelligence (some would say this is the Poodle's contribution to the mix). There's also no question that they're strikingly beautiful with their cotton-soft, flowing hair and soft and expressive eyes. Mesa is an unusual cream-colored Standard Schnoodle with apricot touches shining through..gorgeous! Mesa is 18 - 24 months old and 42 lbs... and so sweet and affectionate. He's perfect for enjoying the exercise and mental stimulation of hiking and ... (Read More)snowshoeing the Colorado trails. He seems to have overcome any ill feelings and appears to be at peace regarding the challenges of his early life. The Standard Schnauzer/Standard Poodle mix is a solid combination both physically and in stability of temperament. It is for this reason that they seem to acclimate and be outstanding family members no matter their past lives. It's safe to say that Mesa learned to live in harmony with every kind of being...he seems to have derived a true calmness and peace from overcoming the trials of his previous life. We feel strongly that Mesa's forever family should have the motivation to continue his socialization and offer him the gift of positive reinforcement group obedience training classes. Through these clear boundaries and leadership by his humans, Mesa will emerge as a well-adjusted and very bonded companion. He's so gorgeous both inside and out that he deserves a family that appreciates the gift of his temperament and is willing to show him boundaries through love and time spent. We are searching for committed retirees or a family with older children (12+) who spend lots of time at home as a forever situation for Mesa. He would enjoy the time spent together and would blossom with a family that considers their dog a valued member of their family. Mesa reportedly had very little car experience prior to his rescue'|.now he's growing to be a champ. This skill is easily worked with through crating and treats...especially as he gets the idea that a car ride can mean a walk or a fun day at a dog-friendly spot with his favorite person. We feel that Mesa would enjoy the company of a fun dog-friend but it's not mandatory for his happiness...it's more the companionship of a truly loving guardian. Mesa will return this loyalty and devotion a thousand times over. Mesa appears to be a non-shedding guy who would look gorgeous with a sudsy bath and grooming. He will require great nutrition and periodic grooming by a calm and loving groomer who appreciates that he's just developing the understanding of the experience. Through baths, consistent haircuts and great nutrition..Mesa will always have a strikingly beautiful coat. Mesa will arrive on transport in Denver on 7/25. Applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. If interested in Mesa, please fill out and return to farfelsapps@gmail.com (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 14-07-21-00340Scooter (male)

Schnauzer Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

The Schnoodle (Schnauzer/Poodle mix) has become one of our most requested mixed breeds. We all seem to love the combination of the outgoing nature and fun personality of the Schnauzer combined with the smart and intuitive nature of the Poodle. Scooter appears to be a perfect combo of these 2 popular breeds. Scooter's gorgeous charcoal black coat lights up his adorable face. The fuzzy spot of pure white on his chest gives Scooter both an adorable as well as regal look. Scooter is obviously very special...he was chosen from hundreds of dogs currently in the Kansas shelter system. It was all about his temperament...it bought him his ticket to ... (Read More)freedom in Colorado. At just about 9 - 12 months old and 11 lbs, Scooter shines with an engaging and incredibly sweet disposition. He is an active guy (but not overbearing) who would love nothing more than a hike or a neighborhood stroll with his family. He really enjoys gentle, respectful kids and would be an active participant in outdoor games in the yard or a walk to the park. He also enjoys the company of other dogs and would always enjoy a game or a shared walk. Somewhere along the line, we think that Scooter was given love and respect..probably because he's so capable of returning warmth and kindness. Scooter is great to take along anywhere there are groups of dog-loving people. He's a bit shy but always warms up with sweetness and warm hugs. We feel that Scooter would do well in any home that offered him love, time (long hours left alone at home wouldn't be in the best interest of this social and sensitive guy), appropriate exercise/ mental stimulation and positive reinforcement training to make him the best dog he can possibly be. Scooter appears to be a non-shedding guy and therefore requires great nutrition and periodic grooming to keep his very shiny coat healthy and matt-free. We've requested that Scooter gets neutered prior to his transport to Denver. If this doesn't occur, Farfel's would be happy to cover this cost upon his arrival in Colorado. Scooter will arrive on transport in Colorado on 7/25/14. If interested in this awesome guy, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com. Beagle    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

It seems that everyone loves Beagles. We do...especially if they're as sweet and so very loving as Valerie. She was acknowledged for being exceptional at an extremely high-kill Texas shelter. This is a tough feat considering this facility holds up to 500 dogs on some sad days. Valerie, at 18 - 24 months old and just about 25 lbs is an exceptionally beautiful Beagle. You can tell when you look into her golden eyes that her short life has held sadness and challenges..but she would never be one to carry that around - she's incredibly happy, so engaging and just a positive spirit to spend your time with. Valerie's great energy is ... (Read More)contagious...she inevitably brings a smile to all those she encounters. Valerie would be an exceptional family member...she love both humans and other dogs so much that her body starts to wiggle when they're near and a big hug is in the making. Valerie, by her nature is a submissive girl. We would love for her to be in a home with a canine friend, but it would be important that they're mellow and never pushy. Valerie loves to play but a rambunctious dog would scare her, while a like-minded pup would be Valerie's joy. She would fit in with a family that enjoys hiking or similar outdoor adventures. She is more than happy to engage in a walk or play ...and smiles with joy at being included. We feel Valerie would thrive in a family that includes their dog in their lives. We feel strongly that leaving her alone at home for many, many hours wouldn't work for this sensitive girl. She's so pleasant...and would be just about perfect with the benefit of positive reinforcement group training classes. We would love a family that would give Valerie the benefit of this type of socialization. Valerie would truly be a gift to any family searching for a playful and extremely devoted pup. . I love people, and snuggling up with them on the couch of an evening is one of the best parts of my new life. (I'll warn you, I usually snore a little). I love going for walks, too - although I'm still not so sure I approve this whole 'leash' thing. I also enjoy following my two canine foster siblings around. I think they are pretty cool, and sometimes they even let me wrestle with them, instead of just watching. At night, I'm happy to sleep in my crate and don't make much of a fuss at all. (Sometimes, my foster parents cave and let me sleep with them, which I won't say no to either!). I'm very good about going potty outside and have yet to have an accident. Yes, I am one good girl! Of course, I am still just a puppy, and will need my forever family to be loving, patient and committed to my training. Yorkie Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults

Cinder is such a loving dog with both humans and other dogs that Farfel's Rescue was contacted by the shelter in Kansas...could we possibly find a special and committed home for this exceptional Yorkshire Terrier/Poodle mix? We're not entirely sure how this truly wonderful young girl ended up in such a dismal, very high-kill facility...but what we are sure of is that this adorable and scruffy little girl is worthy of a wonderful forever home. Cinder quietly creeps into your heart...her behavior is so sweet and engaging... no dog could want to please more. At about 9 - 12 months old and approximately 10 lbs, Cinder is a blank slate just ... (Read More)waiting for loving guidance and clear boundaries so she understands how to be a great adult dog. She's starting her path in life with the greatest temperament ever and the curiosity to learn how to please...she gets so excited when she feels she's done a good job! We're searching for a truly devoted home for Cinder with the enthusiasm and time to train and nurture Cinder into a great companion (although she really couldn't be more loving and sweet than she is right now). She would respond so well to socialization - she would love nothing more than to come along to dog-friendly spots to interact with as many humans and dogs as possible. Cinder is currently being fostered with 5 other dogs...no problem. She's having so much fun being part of the group and enjoying the yard and sunshine of the summer days. We would like to see Cinder enrolled in positive reinforcement group Obedience classes.. she would love it and it would give her every opportunity to excel in life. Cinder is a non-shedding girl and will therefore require periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep her coat healthy and matt-free. Cinder's photo is from the shelter and her coat is filthy and matted. Once she has her first sudsy bath and grooming, we'll post a photo of the brand-new Cinder. Cairn Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered

Biscuit would be such a perfect companion for anyone who is searching for that loyal and loving lap dog. At just about 9-12 months old and about 17 lbs, Biscuit is so portable that he can be a full-time best friend...accompanying his guardians everywhere a small and wonderful dog is allowed. It's always amazing to us at Farfel's Rescue that these dogs with great temperaments...as well as so very adorable...end up in precarious situations. Biscuit was a last-minute save for us...he would have been euthanized in a dismal Texas shelter if kind TX rescuers hadn't stepped up. But how could they not have?? This little dog is just so awesome ... (Read More)with his whole life lying in front of him...a life in which he can bring so much joy to a special family. Biscuit, as a very young guy, is a blank slate waiting to learn about the world. With clear guidance and positive reinforcement obedience classes, Biscuit can have great behaved and be a very bonded companion. He is an all-time snuggler and will cuddle his way into any heart! Biscuit may be a bit shy initially as transport and rehoming is challenging for a puppy...but with love and nurturing, he will absolutely shine We envision Biscuit with a retired couple or individual...he would be overjoyed with the time he could spend in their company. It's not that Biscuit is a needy or whiny guy...not at all...he just loves the company of his humans who respect him for all his wonderful traits. Biscuit likes children and enjoys playing with them...but we would only be open to kids 12+ who can be gentle and understanding that Biscuit is a small pup and needs soft and kind handling. For those family members who enjoy walks and time outside in the beautiful Colorado scenery...Biscuit would love nothing more than to share the experience. He is always up for a walk..fascinated by the activity around him. He breathes in the air...so happy to be free of the dismal shelter environment. Then...maybe his favorite part...it's time to end the day with hugs, belly rubs and a warm spot on the bed beside his favorite people. Biscuit is a non-shedding (or maybe a hair or 2 - we can't quite tell) guy and will therefore require periodic baths/brushing and great nutrition to keep his coat cotton-soft and matt-free. Biscuit isn't suggested for those with very severe allergy concerns. Biscuit will be arriving on transport in Denver on 7/25. Rescue Me ID: 14-07-19-00581Harry (male)

Havanese Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

It seems that everyone loves the Havanese breed. It is actually a breed designed by humans'|a combination of a Maltese, Bichon and a 3rd breed originating in Cuba. This combination of breeds has proven over and over again to be great companions and wonderful family pets. Harry the Havanese, through absolutely no fault of his own, but rather some awful stroke of bad luck, ended up in a very high-kill Texas shelter. The facility is terribly overcrowded with the adoption rate far too low'|therefore the euthanasia rate is extremely high. Harry was rescued at the very last second by great Texas rescuers combined with a commitment by ... (Read More)Farfel's Rescue. Harry, at 18 - 24 months old and just about 21 lbs is an exceptionally adorable Havanese! More important than Harry's great looks is his joy in simply being alive and being noticed.. He couldn't be happier or possess more positive energy than when he left the shelter. Harry would be an exceptional family member (just a bit shy initially) for active retirees who want to commit to a sweet and playful fellow. We don't feel Harry should be placed in a household with young children simply because he hasn't had exposure to the high energy and loud voices of young kids. We feel his happiness would lie with a more predictable family where he could count on them being there for him'|.and he for them. He would find so much joy with a loving and responsible family'|so much so that you can count on his body to start to wiggle and wag when they're near. Harry would be overjoyed with people that enjoy hiking or similar outdoor adventures. He is more than happy to engage in a walk or play '|his tail wags with joy at being included. Harry is such a pleasure to be with as he approaches the world with self-confidence and love. He would truly be a gift to any family searching for a playful and extremely devoted guy. Harry is a non-shedder and therefore will require great nutrition and periodic grooming to keep his cotton-soft coat healthy and matt-free. Harry will be transported to Denver in late 7/25. Applications are currently being accepted for this loving and fun companion. (Less)

Benny is identified as an English Shepherd. He's the sweetest dog I've ever met! I adopted him from a military buddy that had to move his family into condos due to relocation. I just moved to Boulder and right now Benny, I, and a pitbull are camping out of my truck. It has been very difficult finding temp lodging with the dogs.     Beautiful, loving, pitbull. Great with all people. He's bonded with an 8-year-old Male English shepherd, but he takes a long time to acclimate to other dogs, and is otherwise dog aggressive. Rescue Me ID: 14-07-18-00133Booker (male)

Dachshund Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Booker looked out from his dark cage on the death row aisle of a dismal Texas shelter - his eyes were bright and revealed a soft plea that begged for release from his prison. Farfel's TX rescuer couldn't help herself and quietly unlatched the lock and scooped Booker into her arms. She still speaks of the moment...Booker snuggled into her and stared into the face of his savior. There was no question that he was thanking her with his entire soul. Booker trotted joyfully from the shelter and jumped without hesitation into the car..and sighed deeply. He was finally safe! He was brought for the typical exams and vetting....he had a perfect ... (Read More)physical! He is now happily up to date on his vaccinations. In an effort to find a perfectly wonderful home for this exceptional companion, we have determined (with Booker's foster's help) our goals in his match. Booker is a 9 months to 1 year old, 16 lb guy who is so sweet and devoted...we envision him with loving and committed retirees or a dog-crazy family with children 12+. He would be overjoyed to cuddle on the couch and just simply relish his happiness at finally having a family. What a great companion to come along on family activities (perhaps a day in the park?) He's so happy to be included...his foster has enjoyed him riding shotgun as he kept her company on her errands around town. He would be very appropriate to take along on walks along beautiful Colorado trails (although Booker doesn't require huge amounts of exercise) or a visit with dog-loving friends...this would serve him in furthering his socialization education. In return, he will bestow tons of love and devotion on his people...it's just waiting inside of this adorable guy to give with all his heart. Booker gets along very well with dogs of similar size who are respectful and kind. He's never been around very active, rambunctious dogs and we think we should keep it that way. Booker is a very lightly shedding guy who will require periodic sudsy baths and brushing to keep his coat as shed-free as possible and SO silky-soft . Booker will be arriving on transport in Denver on 6/27. We are currently accepting applications for this wonderful and devoted companion. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 14-07-18-00034Angus (male)

Shih Tzu Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Angus is an incredibly cute ball of cottony fur that climbs into your heart (and lap) with a wiggle. Once he gets a sudsy bath and grooming...he'll absolutely be one of the cutest guys around. At 6-8 months old and about 11 lbs (anticipated to weigh about 15 lbs when full-grown) Angus is every bit the puppy...fun and active....but at the same time he is a very well-behaved pup who is not yappy or unnecessarily vocal - he expresses himself with his wagging tail and excited kisses. At this early point in Angus's development, he loves everyone..be it human or canine. We want to nurture this positive vision of the world by matching Angus to a ... (Read More)family who expresses their devotion for him in many different ways. We'd like Angus to attend positive reinforcement group obedience group classes to be the very best adult dog he's capable of being. Right now, Angus is a blank slate who will soak up positive feedback with every effort to be the best behaved guy around. We'd also like Angus to be with gentle older children (13+ would be great) or with an active adult family who will include him in their activities. Angus is so portable that he can easily be a constant companion - he would love nothing more than leisurely walks, trips to the store (he's a great window-shopping friend) or even a place at a pet-friendly workplace. Angus is so young that he can be introduced to virtually any situation...and if there is love and gentle guidance...he can succeed. Angus's new family has to have the motivation and energy for a young pup...he requires house training, behavioral guidance and tons of love to give him a positive attitude about the world. Angus will not be neutered when he arrives in Denver -the Kansas shelter considered him too young. We don't... and will cover all costs to neuter and microchip Angus very shortly after his arrival in Colorado. Angus is a non-shedding guy and will therefore require periodic grooming to keep his coat cottony-soft and matt-free. Angus will be arriving on transport in Denver on 7/25. Corgi Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

We all know how we get that awww feeling when we see an adorable young puppy. They're so new and fresh with every possibility open to them. That's the case unless they're in a high-kill shelter that quickly runs out of space. We're so grateful for the efforts of our great Texas rescuer in saving Miles...she could see that his temperament was so kind and calm that she couldn't allow him to be euthanized. Miles is the kind of very endearing puppy that will lie in your arms and give a periodic loving kiss... couldn't be more loving. Miles was immediately brought to be vetted and then brought to a great Houston foster home to receive pure love ... (Read More)and begin his education. It turns out that Miles, at only 14 weeks old and about 19 lbs. (expected by the vet to be approximately 50 lbs. when full-grown) is very calm and so very sweet that it's become a fun and rewarding experience for his foster mom. Miles is like a blank slate...open and curious about everything around him..he's incredibly entertaining when he gets going. If he continues this regimen of socialization that promotes positive relationships with other dogs and bonding with humans, Miles will become a well-adjusted and pleasant adult companion. Miles is an adorable Corgi/Border Collie mix puppy with a shining coat that speaks of good health - sorry about the sad shelter photo. We'll follow up with happier, puppy-adorable photos as soon as we receive them. Miles' sweet demeanor is just who he is...he just appears to be more analytical than your average crazy puppy. If Miles is treated kindly with clear behavioral guidelines, he will become a well-adjusted dog who respects his people as his leaders. This is the kind of family we're searching for for Miles. We also feel it's very important that Miles is provided with exercise and mental stimulation. He would be overjoyed with hiking along Colorado paths and enjoying the sunshine. We'd like a family who spends lots of time at home and chooses to include a fuzzy companion in their activities. Miles can be taught that the car is a fun place that leads to great adventures out in the community and can therefore accompany his family just about anywhere. We can't determine at this point if Miles is a shedder. Lots of sudsy baths and serious brushing combined with great nutrition will keep this puppy's coat healthy, silky-soft and as shed-free as possible. Miles was considered too young to be neutered...therefore Farfel's will cover all costs for neutering at our Denver vet. Miles will be arriving on transport in Denver on 7/25/14.     Red Baron Male 6-8years Chow/Retriever mix 45 lbs. Meet Red Baron Good day! My name is Red Baron, and I'm a man on a not-so top-secret mission to scour the skies and land for my forever family! While I may not be quite the pilot that the infamous Red Baron was, I do appreciate a good adventure when I see one! I am a 45 lb., 6-8-year-old, male Chow/Retriever mix with a handsome coat of soft, red fur, and I'll be the perfect companion for a lucky person! (Read More)outside in the Colorado sunshine! I love meeting new people, and would do well living in a home with adults and older children (I'm not a huge fan of those little ones as my hip stiffness causes me to be a bit grumpy with small kiddos). No need to worry about those annoying puppy habits from this guy- I'm already potty-trained and do just fine with free roam of the house when my human companions are away. One of my favorite activities is going for walks around the neighborhood! There are so many fun smells, and I like to stop and take them all in. Sometimes you just gotta stop and smell the roses, am I right?! Cuddling with my humans makes me pretty happy too. I tend to think I am a lap dog, so get ready for some lovin'! Like many other brave adventurers, my past is a bit of a mystery. However, the nice vet that PawsCo took me to does think I lived a lot of my past life in a kennel, which has made my hips a little stiff and uncomfortable for me. Don't fret, though! I've been taking some healthy supplements and I seem to be more and more comfortable each day! I do need a little assistance getting in and out of the car but I'll always politely accept a 'lift' up as I love to go on car rides. Finding my forever family will be the best adventure I could ever imagine, and I have a feeling it's right around the corner! (Read More)doesn't dig and he doesn't jump the fence, when he's outside and someone walks by with a dog he just barks. He really is a great family dog. He will even watch TV with you. I've never seen a dog watch TV like this dog before in my life! He especially likes football, and Lady and the Tramp. His only downfall is that he is protective to the point of animal aggression and needs to go to a family or an owner who can best facilitate him. (Less)

Tibetan Terrier Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Male Dogs Only, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults

There could not be a more loving or cuddly pup than Whisper...especially when she's had the time to get over her initial shyness and to know for certain her person loves her. It take just a short time, gentle touches (and great treats always help) for Whisper to fall in love... once you're there, she's bonded for life. Whisper is so beautiful...her amazing mask is a shining combination of dark colors with gold running through. These gorgeous colors frame her sensitive face and sweet eyes. Her family would ideally consist of a retiree(s) or a single individual or a family with older kids who are very loving and willing to spend their ... She would be a wonderful strolling or walking companion and would warm your lap indefinitely when it's time for quiet moments on the couch. At about 9 months to 1 year old and 9 lbs ,Whisper could be a long-term companion that would be very portable to take along on trips and adventures. She can easily be scooped up and carried under your arm for any adventure. Her joy lies in her companions...she would enjoy older, gentle kids and all nurturing adults as well as reliable, like-sized canine friends. A mellow, predictable lifestyle with lots of belly rubs and outdoor sunshine would be perfect for this adorable little companion. Whisper appear to be a non-shedding girl (but really remains to be seen as her new coat grows in). She will require periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep her coat healthy and matt-free. Whisper will be arriving on transport in Denver on 7/18. Please submit an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ if interested in this exceptional and very sweet companion. (Less)

Poodle Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

There's an incredibly sweet and kind Poodle/Westie mix who finally deserves his turn for an incredible life. Ollie is about 8-8.5 years old and weighs 14 lbs. Ollie is still in the prime of his life as smaller Poodle mixes live to a very ripe old age. It's sad that no one loved this sensitive, teddy-bear guy enough to protect him from the horrors of a high-kill shelter. The youngsters and puppies..being so new and cute..got adopted very quickly. As each pup left the shelter with their new family, Ollie looked after them longingly. His gorgeous eyes always seemed so sad as he realized he had been passed by again. Ollie sat quietly in his ... (Read More)cage at the shelter...just waiting. He was allowed more time than the average dog due to his exceptional temperament - every shelter employee and volunteer was in love with Ollie! And so it was that Farfel's Rescue in Boulder, CO heard about this special and very well-loved guy in Houston. One of our rescuers asked for our help in saving Ollie's life and in so doing, gave a lucky family the gift of an amazing companion. We envision Ollie fitting perfectly into the life of a retired couple or individual. While he loves everyone, we think the calm and consistent lifestyle of very loving retirees would be great for Ollie. He also enjoys relationships with calm, like-sized dogs and brings his good will and gentle demeanor to those relationships as well. In return for kind nurturing, Ollie would be the greatest friend ever. He dedicates himself to his favorite people and is the most loyal of companions. He's a very low-maintenance and well-behaved guy who is a perfect size and temperament to take everywhere. It would be his greatest joy to ride shotgun on errands or accompany his favorite humans on visits to dog-loving friends. It would be completely beneath Ollie's dignity to be anything but very pleasant. He's a lap dog extraordinaire and loves nothing more than gentle petting and kind words. At day's end...Olliie will be the first to snuggle down to cuddle with his family. He's such positive energy and so wonderful that he brings joy just by being close. Ollie will be the pup of someone's dreams who wants a completely loyal and loving companion. He is truly a gift! Ollie is a non-shedding guy who is considered to be a hypoallergenic breed. He will therefore require great nutrition and periodic grooming to keep his cottony-soft coat healthy and matt-free. Ollie will be transported to Denver on 7/18.     Meet our new rescue dog, Elvis! He is a possible mix of Yorkie/Poodle/Maltese and/or Bichon. He's around one year old and weighs about six pounds. Elvis is white with apricot coloring. Elvis has a lot of training to catch up on, as he is not house trained yet. He is also learning how to behave in a crate and on a leash. He gets along with other dogs, though he is extremely fearful. He has not been observed with kids or cats as of yet. Elvis acts scared with all people, no matter what age or gender, at this point in time. Elvis does not know any commands yet. He will sit calmly on his foster mom's lap if she holds him there, but otherwise ... (Read More)he's very scared. He's not eating very much yet, but it's his first week in foster care. Elvis will need time to recover from his past. He does pretty well when getting a bath and being brushed. He is too nervous to take treats right now. Sometimes Elvis will walk on his hind legs when he's feeling brave. He does not bark very often. Elvis was a stray with another ARR rescue dog, Presley. They were both scared to death! Elvis runs from people and throws himself against the wall if cornered, or he digs under his bed to hide even when it's hot. Outside, he runs under a bush and digs as far as he can go. His foster mom said it is disturbing and sad to see!! Elvis is not eating very much either. His foster mom gave him scrambled eggs that he did eat after a while but only when he was completely alone. Elvis is young and has good teeth. He is very skinny and will need to put on a couple of pounds. It will take some time to turn Elvis' life around - a lot of holding, talking softly and petting him as much as possible and as many times a day as possible. It will take a very special person who knows about these types of issues in dogs to rehabilitate sweet Elvis. Are you that person who is ready to save this sweet baby? American Bulldog Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Meet our new rescue dog, Rusty! He is a two year old American Bulldog/Shepherd mix. Rusty loves snuggling and getting belly rubs. He likes going for car rides. Rusty is anxious to please his human and is motivated by verbal praise. He loves any treat he is offered and accepts them gently while sitting. Rusty enjoys being brushed and does not like getting wet (in the sprinkler or the wet grass)!! Rusty is a very healthy stray from the Fort Morgan area of Colorado, but it is obvious to his foster mom that he has had a very positive human relationship in his past. Rusty knows how to use the dog door when he needs to go out. He is house trained ... (Read More)and learning to be crate trained. Rusty will need leash training because he can pull hard. Rusty gets along with other dogs, but sometimes he can play too rough or aggressively. Rusty has a dominant personality. He does not get along with cats. Rusty has not been observed around young kids yet. He has no preference towards men versus women. Rusty is very smart and obeys a firm voice. He knows the commands: Come, Sit, Stay, Down, Off and No Bark. Rusty needs continued training to limit aggression in play with humans and other dogs. He will need continued leash training. He can be more concerned with food in bowls other than his own, but he is learning to share at meal times. Rusty needs that chance to be a member of a family again, and he will thrive. If you'd like to meet Rusty, please fill out the online app today! Adoption fee is $175 and covers microchip, DAPP, Rabies, Heart Worm test and spay/neuter.     Hi, my name is penny. I'm the black, brown and white. I have a lab sister Pepper, who is posted under labs. We had the unfortunate situation of losing our home we have been placed in separate foster homes. Unlike my sister I have some issues. I do no like to be mounted by other dogs. I am chipped but I have a history of jumping six foot fences. Despite my age I have an abundant amount of energy. I love water and know basic commands. I am a smart girl who would do good with a family with one other dog, I would prefer female. If you think I'm the right home for you contact the person below. Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed

This is Pepper. She is a black Labrador Retriever surrendered to me. She is chipped but the owner failed to give me the chip number. She is active enough to where she would be a good dog for a yard or someone outdoors. She loves kids and other dogs. She needs a little more training on the leash, at the door and basic commands. She has been trained to leave another dogs bowl of food alone at feeding time. She can also lose a couple more pounds to remain fit and active. I would prefer a home with a family and young children that can wear her out. She also has a sister available (in another foster home). I will require photos of the yard and ... (Read More)environment she will be staying in. The shot status is unknown to me which would be safe to say to get them done. I've been working on grinding down her nails, so those will require attention from the new owners. She can not be graze fed. I currently feed Blue Buffalo Wilderness and she does really well on it. She is a really happy-go-lucky dog who had the misfortune her previous owner losing their home. She is older but in good physical health with a fantastic temperament. She does great inside for long hours and does not go on the bed nor couch (for the most part, still being trained out of that behavior). (Less)

This is Lovely, she was my sister's dog but she moved and couldn't keep her... I volunteered to keep her for a year but my landlord isn't okay with her being here... She's extremely protective of children especially infants and toddlers, she's good with adults as well... She's not accustomed to other dogs so her attitude depends on the other animal... If she's barked at she can become aggressive towards that dog... She's an Alfa female so it can be unpredictable toward female dogs... As well, she's very gentle with puppies and very maternal towards them and kittens... Overall she's a great dog, protective, alert and a couch potato, she just ...     Bastogne is an intelligent, well behaved, protective, beautiful 9 year old Belgian Tervuren. He is loving and loyal. He will place his shoulder behind your leg and wrap his head in the front of your leg to hug you. He is trained to potty on command and in one location. He will not enter a staircase while you are on it. He does obey commands but once a month check to make sure you (really) mean them. Bastogne is very afraid of storms and car rides are not his favorite. He is registered with AKC, he comes from a champion blood line and has 2 location chips.     This pretty girl is currently in foster care while her eyes are healing. She recently had corrective surgery because the conformation of her eyelids was rubbing her eyes improperly (it is called entropion). Now she is on the mend and her eyes will be beautiful soon. This is not a condition that will affect her long term. In fact, she is quite healthy! Originally she was saved from a euthanasia list at a high kill shelter in Kansas.     Name: Hennessey Breed: Heeler/Border Collie mix Age: 1 year Weight: 55 lbs. Why, Hello! I'm Hennessy, a special, 55-pound, one-year-old Heeler/Border Collie mix with a beautiful spirit, calm and gentle personality, and heart of gold. Even though I'm just a baby myself, I've already been a mama! Can you believe it?! Thankfully, my puppies were also rescued, and now that I know they're safe and on their way to finding good homes, I'm able to relax, be a puppy and find a forever family of my own! My foster family just adores me, mostly because of my sweet and mellow demeanor. I win the heart of every human I meet, and am friendly with ... (Read More)other dogs and cats, too. I love cuddles and affection, but I'm far too polite to demand it, so I patiently wait for an invitation before sharing my love. In fact, I am so polite that if I see my canine or feline foster siblings misbehaving, I usually slip away. I don't want to be in any trouble! I enjoy having a crate as a 'safe place' just for me, and often curl up inside during the day. While my foster family tells me that I'm pretty well-behaved and mature for my age, I'm still a puppy at heart! Sadly, I've never lived in a home or been part of a family before, so I am looking forward to finding a forever family that can be patient, loving and committed to teaching me new things. Since meeting my foster humans, I've been potty and leash training - and it's going really well so far! I've heard about these things called 'training classes', which are supposed to be really fun and a great way to bond with humans and meet new canine friends. I really hope I will get to go one day! I may have been forced to grow up too soon, but now I am ready to be a carefree pup and enjoy the good life with my forever family! If you'd like to welcome me in your home, please email pawscoadoptions@gmail.com or fill out an adoption application today! (Less)

I'm currently pregnant (not planned) and have 3 dogs total with my hands full to the max so sadly, I must find 2 of them a home. I just don't have the time or energy these beautiful babies deserve. She's roughly about 5 yrs old, extremely loving and sweet. She's been raised around kids, other dogs and cats and has NO temperament what so ever. She needs a GREAT LOVING home with people who will spend lots of time with her and love her as she deserves. I'm 100% willing to take her back IF for whatever reason it doesn't work out. A SHELTER ... (Read More)IS NOT AN OPTION! Again, you can ALWAYS call me if it doesn't work out and I'll find her another home! You'll fall in love her instantly, I can almost promise. She does NOT chew on any furniture or have any issues of that nature. She is used to having a doggy door that she can use to go in and out of to potty, so if you don't have one, you'll NEED to teach her where to go potty and take her out often. Thank you! (Less)

All of the Farfel's Rescue employees and volunteers hi-fived each other when we got the news that Sadie the Standard Schnauzer/Shepherd puppy was safe! We had been on edge all day waiting for the word that this adorable and very sweet girl was out of the shelter and truly rescued. The part that was so sad is that Sadie, at only 11 weeks old, was about to be euthanized simply because the high-kill shelter had run out of cages. Sadie is a virtually perfect puppy and at barely 3 months old and 14 lbs (Sadie is expected to weigh about 45 - 50 lbs when full-grown) she deserves a great forever home that will give her an awesome start in life. ... (Read More)Sadie is a sweet and engaging puppy who loves other dogs and every human she's ever encountered. We would love Sadie's great temperament to be nurtured with loving yet clear guidelines through puppy socialization classes and Positive Reinforcement Obedience group class. She responds so well to boundaries that are clear and lovingly communicated. Sadie is a healthy and active young puppy who would be head over heels with joy to hike a Colorado trail and spend fun, outdoor time with her favorite people and canines. Sadie is a blank slate at this point.... just waiting to be taught appropriate behavior to be the greatest adult dog ever! She has the capability to truly shine if given huge amounts of love and recognition for great behavior. We are searching for a family that is motivated to spend the time necessary to housebreak and train this young pup with the amazing temperament....they will be rewarded a thousand times over with loyalty and devotion. We think Sadie would be very happy with either an active and involved retired couple (or individual) or a family that enjoys spending lots of quality time with their pup. She's great in the car and very excited to learn the socialization skills that will enable her to accompany her family virtually everywhere they go. Sadie appears to have picked up the Schnauzer gene and be a non-shedding pup...we'll really have to wait and see her adult coat. Sadie will require periodic baths/brushing and great nutrition to keep her coat shiny and healthy. She is not suggested for those with extremely severe allergy concerns. Sadie will be arriving on transport in Denver on 6/18. Applications are currently being accepted for this very sweet and exceptional family companion. (Less)

Some of us are born with a special passion in our hearts. Such was the case for Phoebe's rescuer...a new college graduate who wanted to put her energies into a worthwhile endeavor. She wanted to begin to right the wrongs she became aware of in the world of puppy mills. Becca didn't just talk about her dreams...she drove from Colorado to Missouri to attend an auction to save as many lives as possible. The shock was the complete lack of compassion for these little beings...they were ... (Read More)nothing more than a means to an end for a greedy and heartless group. Jacques looked up fearfully with his expressive eyes as the bidding started that would direct the rest of her life. Luck was with him on that fateful day...she was going home with Becca! The handsome purebred poodle, Jacques, became a part of Farfel's Rescue in Boulder, CO to find his forever family. The perfect home for Jacques is a very quiet and predictable environment. We think he would be a gift for a retiree who doesn't require immediate gratification...but will allow a relationship to grow slowly and naturally. With time, Jacques will feel safe to show the love that lives inside of him. As this friendship blossoms, Jacques will be a best friend who will return devotion and loyalty a thousand times over. Rescue Me ID: 14-07-08-00547Tinker (female)

Corgi Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

The very first thing that Tinker the Corgi Chihuahua mix wants to make clear is that she's a love. Everything is new to Tinker...her adorable little nose sniffs shyly at an outstretched hand...and then an ear to ear smile if it's a loving touch. And then before you know it, Tinker is in your lap or next to you on the couch. She's so happy there because her human relationships are so important to her. We have to remember that Tinker comes from a very tough and challenging shelter. As a result of unkind handling and harsh conditions, Tinker is a bit shy. Once she's assured that all is well, she'll snuggle close for love and support. This 1 ... (Read More)year old, 8 lb corgi mix truly lights up when she feels like she's done a good job... some serious hugging and kind words will send her over the moon. Tinker is such a people dog...she likes older kids but they definitely must be very gentle and handle her kindly. We envision Tinker with a retired couple or individual who want an adorable and sweet dog as a family member and companion. She would be so excited to spend her days in the company of her people....she's quiet and mellow enough to spend her afternoon snoozing on the couch or would be just as happy to go for a hike along gorgeous Colorado paths....just as long as she's with her person. Tinker can have a moment of insecurity from the turmoil that has been in her life...a guardian who is present and full of good intention can readily get this great girl past these feelings and let her know she is loved and won't be abandoned. Tinker is currently being fostered in Boulder and is available for meet 'n' greets! We are currently accepting applications for this sweet and exceptional companion (Less)

Mastiff    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Male Dogs Only, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Kyah is a 3 year old English Mastiff. I am looking to find a new home with someone who has the time to spend with her. I have a male Mastiff also who is 10 years old. He is old and slow and doesn't mind that I work so many hours. Kyah on the other hand really loves walks and lots of attention! She is not good with small animals at all. She has been around her best friend, Lars the male all of her life. We did try and introduce a small dog and she got a little over excited and tried to bite. We love Kyah very much and don't want to give her up at all, but she just needs more human interaction. She can be aggressive if she doesn't trust a ... (Read More)person. I guess it just depends on the person. Some, she loves right away and won't leave alone, others she may not be happy to be around. She deserves a good home, she will not be happy in a kennel or cage or any kind. She has been in the home and garage and never has been in a cage other than before she got spayed. She wasn't happy at all!! We have only tested her around male dogs, she may be ok with Female. If interested give me a call and I'll tell you more. (Less)

Schnauzer Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

We all know how we get that awww feeling when we see an adorable young puppy. They're so new and fresh with every possibility open to them. That's the case unless they're in a high-kill shelter that quickly runs out of space. We're so grateful for the efforts of our great Texas rescuer in saving Lola...she could see that her temperament was so loving and calm that she couldn't allow her to be euthanized. Lola was immediately brought to be vetted and temperament tested...she passed both with flying colors and was brought to a great Houston foster home to begin her education around house manners and socialization. It turns out that Lola, at ... (Read More)only 3 months old, is so calm and cooperative that it's been a fun & rewarding experience for her foster mom. She's like a blank slate...open and curious about everything around her. If Lola continues this regiment of socialization and starts puppy socialization classes that promote positive relationships with other dogs & bonding with her people...Lola will become a well-adjusted and pleasant adult companion. Lola is a gorgeous puppy with a shining coat that speaks of puppyish good health. Her calm demeanor is just who she is right now...she's just appears to be more evolved than your average crazy puppy. If you pass her wisdom assessment..Lola is your best friend and is very interested in some serious bonding. If Lola is treated kindly with clear behavioral guidelines, she will become a well-adjusted pup who respects her people as her leaders. This is the kind of family we're searching for for Lola. Since she will be approximately 40 lbs when full-grown (her mom is said to be a Standard Schnauzer), we also feel it's very important that Lola is provided with exercise and mental stimulation. She will be a perfect size to enjoy hiking and snowshoeing in the Colorado mountains. We'd also like a family who spends lots of time at home and chooses to include a fuzzy companion in their activities. Lola can be taught that the car is a fun place that leads to great adventures out in the community and can therefore accompany her family just about anywhere. It appears that Lola has the Schnauzer gene and is a non-shedder. She will therefore require periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep her cotton-soft coat healthy and matt-free. Lola will be arriving on transport in Denver on 6/11. Applications are currently being accepted and can be accessed at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. Norfolk Terrier Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

What a stunning girl Moira is! This 2.5 - 3 year old, 10 lb Norfolk Terrier/Yorkie mix (or so we've been told) has the most beautiful face ever...gorgeous soft and sweet eyes framed by her so-cute scruffy, wire-haired coat. Her striking adorable ways and super-sweet demeanor attract friends everywhere she goes...but her heart really lies with her family. That family can consist of humans as well as gentle like-sized dogs to play with and enjoy. Moira would love nothing more than to be the pup that goes everywhere with her people....walking, car rides, the park or window shopping would suit this girl. She's so portable that you can easily ... (Read More)scoop her up, tuck her under your arm and be on your way. She also fits perfectly into a carrier to be a companion on a plane ride to a favorite vacation spot. She's so pleasant to spend time with that she would be a low-maintenance companion to take along just about anywhere. Moira is also very respectful in the house...she hasn't had accidents (or maybe 1 or 2 in her first days in her foster home until she acclimated) or destroyed any personal property ...she wouldn't consider that because she only wants to please. Moira walks well on a leash and enjoys her time outdoors in the sunshine...new adventures are always fun and exciting to Moira. We envision Moira in a home with retirees...it's not that she doesn't like kids but more that a quiet environment and a lap that's available for snuggling would truly speak to this devoted pup. We feel that Moira would thrive on being a family member that assumes a best-friend role within the household. She's always so willing and would assume her spot in the car (she loves that) for everything from just running errands to to an exciting dog-friendly fun time. Moira is a devoted companion and will love her new family members with all her heart. She will be there to cuddle, keep you company and be a truly best friend. Moira is a non-shedding girl (or perhaps a hair or 2 will be on a black sweater) that will require periodic baths/brushing and great nutrition to keep her coat healthy and matt-free. We don't suggest Moira with those who have severe allergy concerns. Moira is arriving on transport in Denver on 7/11. Applications are currently being accepted for this sweet and kind companion. Doberman Pinscher    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Brigitta is a 3yr. old blue docked and cropped female Doberman that was surrendered to DRNM from a bad situation. She had a litter of 15 puppies (9 DOA) after being transferred from a flea market to a well meaning person that did not "mean" for her to get pregnant. She rejected her remaining puppies (currently under the care of DRNM) and has been living in a shed. Brigitta is moving to foster care in Colorado on July 5th and will be spayed, microchipped, brought up-to-date on shots and heartworm checked. She is something of a dream-dog already. Very sweet - gets along well with other dogs, she is pretty and attentive and ... (Read More)wants to be loved and follow you everywhere. Her coat is in terrible condition and that may partly be because she is a Blue. Blue and fawn dobermans often have alopoetia (balding) and we will likely have her thyroid tested as well. Maltese Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered

One of our exceptional Texas rescuers saved the life of this adorable Morkie (with perhaps a bit of Terrier thrown in there as well for additional cuteness) in hopes of him finding a new and wonderful life in Colorado. Dane is about 1 year to 18 months old and 7 pounds of cotton-coat fluffiness.(We'll post a new photo of a clean and extremely handsome guy when we receive it). When Dane arrived at his TX foster home, he had some of the quirks that urgent rescues sometimes bring with them - Flash forward a couple of weeks to today and a relaxed and so lovable Dane has begun to emerge! He has made progress each and every day and has become a ... (Read More)much more well-adjusted guy who is open to new relationships and adventures. It also makes a difference that his energy...and emotional needs..are being met. Dane loves long walks (won't he be perfect for those gorgeous days exploring Colorado walkways?) and playtime that includes periodic hugs, praise and treats makes Dane feel so good about himself and channels his puppy-like curiosity in a positive direction. He's such a fun and silly guy that we hope his new family will choose to spend lots of time enjoying his antics. We'd like to see Dane in a home with loving and devoted retirees or a family with older children (after all, Dane weighs only 7 lbs and should be handled gently) that spends lots of time at home...or enjoys taking their furry companion along. Dane is a perfect take-along size guy...it's so easy to just scoop him up and snuggle him under your arm or in a carrier. He enjoys the car and is learning his skills quickly to be trustworthy in all situations. Dane's foster mom is working on his house training and general house skills to make him the well-behaved and engaged dog he has the ability to be. She speaks of him so highly -- Dane is the sweetest lap dog ever. I just love him and can't get enough of his sweet company--. Dane would do so well in positive reinforcement Obedience 1 class that will create additional bonding with his family on his path to learning behaviors that will make hims a great life-long companion. Dane is a non-shedding guy (or maybe loses a hair or 2) who will require great nutrition and periodic grooming to keep his cotton-like coat healthy and matt-free. He is not suggested for those with severe allergy challenges. Dane will be transported to Denver on 7/11. Poodle    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Colette is such a dream- come- true girl for any family! If you're searching for a true-blue companion that has no greater joy than to take leisurely walks, visit with dog-loving friends and then lie in your lap (or at least by your side), then Colette is your perfect pup. Colette is about a 6 - 7 year old (just at the prime of her life as these small breeds often have life spans of 16 - 17 years) , 12 lb Poodle who has the sweetest temperament ever! This soft- as- cotton sweetie had no idea why she was suddenly on death row in rural Texas....she tried SO hard to be the best-behaved pup around! How could she possibly understand that she ... (Read More)was turned in to be euthanized because she was just too much trouble. This amazing girl...with the best soul... deserves only the greatest that life has to offer! Colette's behavior is so loving and devoted that she's appropriate for any dog-friendly situation. She has been welcomed into shops, friend's homes & cars without question...she's so cuddly and warm and wonderful that she brings a sense of calm to all those who have the pleasure of spending time with her. With all of Colette's snuggly ways...she's also open to a brisk walk. Just as long as she's with her favorite people, Colette is good to go...anywhere. She loves riding shotgun on errands or adventures...as long as she can be a copilot and see out the window, she's pretty good about not being a backseat driver. We envision Colette in an adult only (or with kids 12+) home where she is truly a part of a family that enjoys their time at home... or likes to bring a wonderful, fuzzy pup with them. When Colette can't come along, you can bet she'll be at the window loyally waiting for her family to return. She seems to enjoy her time with gentle dogs her own size, but we feel she would also be very happy in a single-dog household as long as she's not alone for many long hours. Colette is a non-shedding pup (considered to be the most hypoallergenic of breeds) who will require periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep her cotton-soft coat healthy and matt-free. Colette will be arriving on transport in Denver on 7/11. Applications are currently being accepted for this exceptional and super-loving companion. (Less)

Poodle    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

We're so glad that Daniel was able to stay safe as he waited in vain to be claimed at a very high-kill Texas shelter. His safety became questionable when he was slated for euthanasia. No way that Farfel's could let that happen to this miniature white Poodle with the great temperament! Arrangements were quickly made...and Daniel left the shelter just in the nick of time. This truly beautiful (we'll get a photo out of the shelter environment as soon as possible) 1-year old, 16-lb purebred Poodle left all the pain and misery of his previous life behind as he acclimated to the security of a home, great nutrition and lots of love & belly ... (Read More)rubs! We found...to our delight...that Daniel (while initially a bit shy) warms up and is so engaging. He enjoys his time with humans...especially if it's about snuggling or leisurely walks with his favorite people. Since Daniel has been deprived of human attention for at least a part of his approximately 1 year life, he needs a bit of assurance that he's loved in a forever sort of way. He seemed to be a bit unsure... but we notice that he gains confidence every day that he interacts with well-meaning and kind humans. We envision Daniel in a home with a gentle canine sibling and guardians that choose to spend lots of time having fun with their dogs. Daniel would be ecstatic to spend this quality time and would definitely form a fast & forever bond. He wants to please like none other...it almost seems like he's gathered the wisdom that guides him toward great behavior and very positive interaction with virtually everyone he encounters. No stress in taking Daniel to social situations...he gets along so well with everyone...he's a pleasure to be with! A loving family that has the time and desire to form a close relationship with a pup that truly deserves it is our goal for our exceptional Daniel. Daniel is a non-shedding, hypoallergenic guy and will therefore require periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep his cotton-soft coat healthy and matt-free.     Name: Charlie Breed: Rottweiler/Sheppard Mix Age: 9 yrs Weight: 88 lbs My name is Charlie and I am one mellow dude. In fact, some have been known to call me The Dude, his Dudeness, Duder, or El Duderino%BD'%BD|or maybe that's just what I call myself, but you get the idea. I like to hang out and CHILL. Back in my younger days (I'm around 6 now), I probably enjoyed running around and playing games and stuff, but these days I like more mellow activities and going with the flow. You want to go for a walk? That's cool. I like walks. You want to go for a drive? That's cool too, I like looking out the window. You want to hang out with ... (Read More)people, kids, or other dogs? That's fine with me. Everybody is a friend of the Dude. Sometimes I'll use my old man%BD'%BD|er, old dog, bark to tell the younger pups they need to chill out, but I never get too upset with them. I remember when I was a young pup causing a ruckus in the dog park! I've never been too into labels, but some have said I'm a Rottweiler mix due to my size (88 lbs, but the doc says I could stand to lose 10 lbs) and my handsome coloring. One thing is certain, I am a HANDSOME dude. Aside from hanging out, I'm also really good at sleeping and being alone in the house while people are away (which I guess is the same things as hanging out), watering the plants (that's a nice way of saying I'm potty trained) and chasing squirrels. I know a few fancy tricks like 'sit', how to come when I'm called and also walking like a champ while I'm on a leash (unless I see a squirrel or rabbit). So I'd love to meet you because I know we'd be buds and then we could hang-out and chill together, maybe for forever? Cool.     I have recently moved to the Colorado Springs area, from Texas. And brought my pit bull puppy with me. Long story short, I am not going to be able to keep her. Due to the fact that no place that I have found to rent is going to allow it. She is just a little over six months old and is a great dog.. She has an awesome personality and is pretty much house broken.. She has always stayed inside with me. And receives her dog baths regularly. Never had a flea on her that I know of.. As I am really particular about the cleanliness of an animal that sleeps in the same room as me.I hate to even consider having to surrender her, as we have grown close ... (Read More)to each other. But the extreme hours I am working and my current living situation is making it impossible for this to happen. She will make a great family dog and a great gaurd dog too. Her father is a huge full blood red nose pit. And mother is a full blood blue. So she has two good purebred parents. If I must do this I just want her to go to a good home. I'm not interested in any money, I will take the loss from all that has been invested in her..i just want to know she is going to be in good hands. If interested my name is Andrew, and my number is 903-372-6112. Oh and I'm not able to upload any pictures from my Android, to this site. But I will email or text to anyone if interested.. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 14-07-03-00262Tosha (female)

Great Pyrenees    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Cats, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy
Health: Vaccinations Current

Tosha's breed of dog is known within the United States as the Yugoslavian Shepherd, or in Yugoslavia as the Sarplaninac. Her breed personality is very much like that of a Grt Pyrenees and used to guard livestock. Sarplaninac very rare in North America. Tosha needs a 'special type of owner in her life because of her past abused life & genetic independent/stubborn breed traits! Her breed of dog is not for beginners. Its a very hard dog to train and keep trained! She 'needs' to have 'a loving & cool-headed (patience) owner' who's alpha-oriented yet 'nonphysical & trains with positive reinforcements, because Tosha was a very abused dog for most ... (Read More)of her life. HER NEW OWNERS MUST 'NOT BE AGGRESSIVE' TOWARDS SUCH INDEPENDENT TRAITS IF THINGS DONT GO THIER WAY EVERY TIME (their commands & wants of the dog), NO IF ANDS OR BUTS! Tosha is shy of anger & frustration energies many people exert towards life & at their dogs when they don't get what they want. Tosha is somewhat of a scaredy-cat due to her past & 'can't deal with negative energies directed at her or around her'! She will cower & try & keep her distance from you every time if you exert such energies. If you tend to lose your temper with dogs that won't always listen to your 1st, 2nd, 3rd or even 4th command given, then 'Tosha is not the dog for you' !If you are to show you're upset with her in using a loud aggressive upset voice, and or negative body language because she didn't listen to your commands off the bat you will certainly destroy your relationship with her. Especially if you become physical with her at any one time! It will only take one episode of mistreatment to alter & or destroy your relationship with Tosha forever The temperament of the breed is described as friendly, mellow, independent, reliable, protective but not snappy, incorruptible & devoted to their family & livestock. The breed is very calm until a threat presents itself. They are serene & majestic & very gentle. They also have a beautiful & astonishing low maintenance fur coat. These active & athletic dogs 'require large amounts of outside daily exercise to run & play'- Tosha does not play with balls. (Less)

My name is Asia, and I'm looking for a family of my very own to treasure, love and, of course, take plenty of walks with! I'm a gorgeous, 2-year-old Aussie/Heeler mix with a quirky zest for life that will keep a smile on your face while reminding you just how fun life can be! I find that it's the little things that make life so good - a squishy tennis ball (preferably one that I sneakily snatch from my canine foster sibling), a relaxing cuddle session with my ... My canine foster sibling and I have a great time wrestling and racing around the yard together. I even get along well the resident cats and can often be found nuzzling them. Nope, I am not a cat-chaser. (Now, squirrels and bunnies are a different story. I mean, how could I resist!?) I love spending time with my foster family, cuddling and getting belly rubs, but I'm fine entertaining myself. All I need is a nice antler to chew on, and I am a happy girl! I'm a well-behaved girl, too! I'm potty-trained and getting more and more comfortable spending time in my crate. I also have learned some new tricks recently, including sit, lie down, shake, roll over AND turn around! (Eat your heart out, Lassie!) If you are looking for a real treasure, I am the gal for you. Lab Mix    Age: Puppy

Annie is a great example of why people love Labradoodles. She's a gorgeous girl with cottony-soft hair that frames her sweet face. At 9 months old and currently 17 lbs (could be about 25 lbs when full-grown and filled out), she is an extremely loyal and loving pup who is learning new lessons about the world every day (thanks to the vigilance of her foster mom). Annie displayed her devotion when she was found with her deceased mom after 4 days without food or water. Annie's gift of love and loyalty was stronger than her desire to keep herself alive. Annie's foster has turned this amazing being over to Farfel's Rescue to find the perfect ... (Read More)family to love and nurture Annie while creating clear boundaries through a positive training regiment. Annie's current mom had the following to say about the personality traits of this sweet Doodle: Annie displays the following personality tendencies: Loveable, very intelligent, responsive, affectionate, funny/silly, playful and truly wants to please. Annie will play fetch (she is after all half Retriever)..every time you toss a toy, she will happily return it. It's a great form of exercise for her and fun for me as well. Annie is quiet and calm most of the time when I'm with her in my apartment. She responds well to correction and wants to do well with her whole heart. The challenge for Annie is when I leave her at home alone..she's devastated! She needs a family that chooses to spend their time with this sweet companion and use patience and training to teach Annie that she doesn't need to panic...they won't abandon her. It's understandable that Annie developed these fears after her experience...and therefore her need for an understanding family and an astute, positive trainer to help her know she's safe when she's alone. In return, Annie gives of herself 1000%...tons of hugs, kisses and silly antics. Once Annie bonds, there is nothing in the world that will pull her away from her person or family. Her love and gratitude boils over when she knows she's accepted for the sweet being she is. Annie would be so happy with a family that includes her on hikes, camping and backpacking trips or just a walk around the neighborhood...or better yet, a free and joyous run in a safe area. She runs like the wind and is far happier with the benefit of physical exercise and mental stimulation. Annie appears to have gotten the Poodle gene and is therefore a non-shedder. Her cotton-soft hair resembles that of a Poodle far more than a Lab. She will therefore require periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep her silky coat healthy and matt-free. Annie is currently living in Denver. Applications are currently being accepted and Meet and Greets are being set up for this exceptional and loving companion. (Less)
