Vincent is a lovable 13 yr old senior! Born June 30, 1999. He has been raised with 2 other dogs and 2 cats. He is in need of more attention than mom can give him due to work changes, a toddler and a newborn on the way in 3 months. His only problem is that he feels neglected and I can't seem to spread myself any thinner. It hurts my heart to let him go but I feel as though he should spend his last years with the love and attention he deserves. He has NO behavior or health issues! Gilmore is a lab mix estimated to be about 1 1/2 old, and weighs about 60lbs. Gilmore was really shy with us at first, but boy has he come out of his shell. He is very fun, LOVES TOYS, and likes to play ball. Gilmore is very good on a leash, and has done very well with other dogs. We are not sure with cats. We haven't had him around kids yet, but we don't think he would have any issues. He is very friendly, awesome dog. Upon elvauting Jon we noticed he had a large swollen area on his behind. we rescued Jon, took him to our vet and was told her had hernia in his rectum. This has been repaired and he is healing. Jon has been neutered and is now up todate on his vaccinations and HW tested and is clear. Jon still shows some signs of fear toward people but loves his foster family and does well with them. HELP!!! Need help finding a place for a Lhasa Apso owner surrender... I volunteer with/foster for a rescue and typically work with dogs needing help with social skills... a groomer friend contacted me a little over a week ago about the Lhasa Apso, she's been grooming him for four years, and her 'worst' dog. He was bought as a puppy by a person that is emotionally unstable and with some mental issues and that is all he has known for the roughly five years of his life. And while he for example walks well on a leash and is house trained, he has had no 'pack leader' and thus has been controlling the person he has been with for all of those five ... He apparently controls access to the bed, takes what food he wants, etc. from the owner, and it has gotten so bad that the family of the person has taken the dog from the home and was hoping someone would rehab and rescue, but ultimately if they find no one to do this, they will take him to the shelter. I took him for two weeks to evaluate, and he can be rehab'd, but it is going to take a while and a lot of patience and a muzzle; he has not tried controlling me so much as he recognizes that I am in charge, and this causes him to be fearful. I can get a leash on him and basic things, but I can not pick him up, always a struggle getting him in and out of his crate... all in all I've worked with him only a limited amount, and he has made a small amount of progress, but it is going to take a lot more than I can commit to... I have no room for him and can't make the long-term commitment he requires; he will require some amount of focused work every day. He's fine with other dogs, no dog aggression, and really no interest in other dogs at all so far. He's spent most of the nearly two weeks sitting at the gate looking for someone he knows. I can see a dog in there that wants to be normal and happy and stress free and loved, but it is going to take a while and a lot of patience to lead him there. First and foremost, this dog does not do well living with other dogs. He does fine with our two boston terriers but we tried rehoming him to another home with a younger husky and they did not get along in close quarters. At the dog park and on neutral ground they were fine. Also NO CATS whatsoever. Fitz is 5 years old and a fluffy ball of fun. Like any double coated dog breed he cannot be kept outside, he is strictly an inside dog. He will overheat if left in the sun. He requires a lot of brushing, at least weekly if you want to cut down on fur balls in the home. The only reason we are rehoming him is because we simply do not have the time ... (Read More)to commit to him anymore. He is very in tune with his owners, if you're sad, he'll cuddle if you're happy he'll want to play. He is so much fun to play fetch with, he takes it to a new level. He will bring his toy, have you throw it, retrieve it and then continue to throw it around and entertain himself with it for a few minutes before returning it to you to start the process over again. So funny! He needs a very good fence in his yard as like all huskies, if there's the smallest hole, he'll slip through it. He's deceptively skinny under all his fur and can compress through the smallest crack. He is very curious and does well with kids. He will come with his cage ($180 brand new), two harnesses and a leash (he LOVES to go to the dog park and take rides in the car--but keep the windows cracked just a little because he's a jumper!) and some toys that he loves.
