Rescue Me ID: 17-04-28-00441Decotta (female)

Collie Mix    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Low Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Meet Decotta!! She is a 8 year young Lab mix that has tons of love to give!! She is, sadly, losing her eyesight and is cautious of men but when she knows you she is the most wonderful girl!! Because she is becoming blind, it would be best that she was in a furever home with older children/no children. You can imagine how difficult it is to process the energy and imposition of young children if you are sight challenged? Decotta's foster mom can not say enough good about her though, and she will be the perfect furever companion to the right person/family! She is up to date on vaccinations and spayed.

Pit Bull Mix    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Meet Tasha! Tasha was a rescue dog from Japan but found herself in a Utah shelter, stressed and afraid. We rescued her from her 'rescue gone wrong' and found her to be a sweet senior girl that just LOVES to be touched and loved on! Her paperwork places her age at 16 but she does seem, and act, 3-4 years younger! Her foster mom has worked hard to help her overcome some bad habits like resource guarding and dog selectivity, but she still needs a furever home that will 'keep her honest' :-). Tasha is up to date on vaccinations, spayed, crate trained, snuggle trained ( ;-) ), potty trained, and is working on her leash skills.

Lab    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

April is a very sweet good natured girl that deserves a wonderful home. She was found wandering in the country and was extremely thin. She is about 8 years old but still has energy to play and run with the other dogs but prefers hanging out with her people and snuggling on the couch. She doesn't seem to have had any basic training as we believe she was just used as a breeding dog. She has done well at house training and really wants to please. April is up to date on vaccinations, spayed and microchiped.

Poodle Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Grace is just a year old female. She came from a shelter in the Bay Area, California. Her owner had passed on. She is submissive but once she knows you, you are her best friend. Grace does fine with bonding with one person. In her foster home in California, she bonded with our director who is a woman. Here in our home, she has bonded with my husband. She adores him and follows him everywhere, Always by his side when watching TV or in the yard. She comes to me and wags her tell but her trust is with my husband. If I was the only one in the house, that trust would be with me. Due to her personality of showing devotion to one person more so ... (Read More)another, is why we recommend no kids. Grace is potty trained, uses a dog door. She will need patience in establishing more confidence and trust with multiple people at one time. Her breeding makes her non-shedding and non-allergetic. She loves toys and sleeping in bed with you. If you would like a nice companion dog, please contact Lorice at idahocowdogs@gmail.com We are asking for a $100.00 adoption fee. (Less)

Amber is curvy girl who is working on getting healthy by eating a gluten free diet, doing regular stair climbs and engaging in fun outdoor activities. She loves all people, her foster brother dog, and her two foster kitties. She would really enjoy to love the chickens from inside her belly but is learning to just watch them from afar.     Hey world meet Barron. Cutest little stinker ever. He is one of those kind of puppies that wants to be right next to you all the time. He loves attention, loves to cuddle and gets so excited when someone comes to play. He tries very hard to be the best boy. :) He's still just a puppy so he is definitely full of it. He loves to play ball and gets such a kick out of anything squeaky. This boy loves to play with other dogs. He is very good with kids and doesn't seem to have a worry in the world. Barron is so lucky. He is in an amazing foster home learning how to be the very best puppy he can be. Bebe his doggie sister is making ... (Read More)sure he grows up to be a good boy. Animal ID: CASEYCASEY (male)

Border Collie Mix    Age: Puppy

Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Meet Casey! He is a Border Collie mix, mixed with a smaller breed of some sort,%A0he only weighs 23lbs! We are estimating around a year old. He was brought in by animal control 2 weeks ago(an owner did not claim), with a horrible abscess on his throat. Dr. Jones believes it was a dog fight bite wound that turned into an abscess, his trachea even had a small puncture wound in it, so Casey has a very raspy bark! Casey was also%A0very emancipated and was covered with fleas and ticks %A0when he arrived. He has been spoiled with good food and has put on 3lbs already!%A0Even though Casey went through a rough patch in life, he is still a very ... (Read More)happy and bouncy dog just wanting attention. Rescue Me ID: 17-04-18-00227Copper (male)

Schnauzer Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

FOSTER LOCATION: Nampa, ID Copper is the cutest thing; helooks like a miniature Irish Wolfhound but best guess is Schnauzer/Heeler with a bit of Shih Tzu thrown in for good measure from his mom. He is about 11 months old and weighs in at about 33 pounds of wonderful, loving lap dog, who will likely grow a bit more as he ages. He knows 'sit' and 'down'. He might respond to 'leave it', but then again perhaps not he is after all just a puppy. He will come when called in the yard, but cannot be trusted to respond in the big world as he is still a puppy and is easily distracted. He is crate trained and will go in on 'kennel up' command most ... (Read More)of the time. He sleeps in his crate and considers it his den - a new home will need to continue with this and supply him a crate. Copper is house trained to use a bell hanging on the door to tell you he needs to go outside. He also uses a dog door very happily. He rides pretty well in a car, although should have a seat belt to keep him from moving around. This boy does have some Heeler in him and as such has a pretty high prey drive. He picks on the 5 pound Yorkie in his foster home so his new home will need with no small pets: dogs, cats, guineas, or any other prey type pets. He does great with dogs around 20 pounds and up; but again remember he is a puppy and tends to play rough. Copper will need an active family; he is fairly high energy and will need daily exercise; a run every day would be best. As an adolescent, Copper will chew your furniture, shoes, or anything else in range when bored (exercise people). Sturdy chew toys to work on (another reason to crate him when you are not home); a Kong filled with peanut butter, interactive toys will all help keep his mind and body busy. (Surprisingly, he loves soft stuffed toys too, and does not destroy them.) Copper is a strong, young dog, and should go to an adoptive home that can provide lots of structure and exercise. Copper is eager to please, smart as a whip and would LOVE to go to an obedience class. Copper is neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated. His adoption fee is $150.00. Rescue Me ID: 17-04-17-00374Sweetie (female)

Siberian Husky Mix    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Low Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Arthritis

FOSTER LOCATION: Nampa, ID Sweetie is a 12 year old Husky/Shepherd mix who came to Fuzzy Pawz from a local shelter because come on Sweetie deserves to be spending her senior years in a home, not a shelter. This pretty girl is an easy keeper and is looking for a quieter home that she will happily share with other animals. She is good with most other dogs and we are told she is also fine with cats. She will however not put up with much nonsense form a hyper dog so we'd suggest a calmer quieter dog or no dog at all. She has nice house manners, is house trained and we haven't seen any bad habits from her yet. And she is smaller than ... (Read More)average weighing in at just 48 pounds! She can become a bit disoriented when out for walks, so a home with a fenced yard that she can safely hang out in would be ideal. Sweetie does pose a flight risk as she has been known to bolt out the front door or open fence gate. Sweetie can be fairly aloof with some people but when she clicks she clicks hard. She does seem to be more comfortable around women She recently had a full vet work up including x-rays and the only thing they found was some slight arthritis in her hind quarters. Due to her age we ask that no kids under 12; a calm quiet home environment would be best. Sweetie is spayed, microchipped, and vaccinated. Her adoption fee is $50.00. Rescue Me ID: 17-04-17-00298Azula (female)

Pit Bull Mix    Age: Adult

Meet Azula. This beautiful lady has lived a lot of life in her 5-6 short years. We decided to take her in when we found out her story. Here it is: 'Azula has been in and out of our shelter many times in the past years. Sadly her owner was not very responsible and she lived in a drug house and her owner was shot and killed in a drug deal about a month ago. We're guessing Azula has been through a lot. Azula has been with another dog at our shelter and did ok but did show some resource guarding, we think with her strength and past, she might do best being an only dog but that could possible change with the right dog. She is a beautiful, strong ... (Read More)girl, seems to like the company of people and the staff at the shelter she is coming from would always bring her into the office to visit with everyone. She gets really into playing with her toys and LOVES to chew on bones. She enjoys walks but needs a strong hand. Azula is house trained, we believe her to be approximately 5 years old.' When she arrived, we figured a serious play session was in order. Azula immediately went through every single toy in our play area, romping and rolling around, and happily chewing the squeakers out of the biggest toys in the bin. A few stuffed toys may or may not have been destroyed, but who cares? We'd say she deserves to be carefree and playful for a while. Don't you agree? (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-04-17-00261Duke (male)

Pit Bull Mix    Age: Puppy

Our newest stud muffin, Duke, arrived from Kansas. This guy is energetic, strong, and super friendly to people. He has the softest coat you've ever felt and he's ready for a full body hug when you are. Duke is about 1 year old. Here's what we know: 'Duke came in as a stray but his owner did not reclaim him (they only owned for a month), he has jumped up on his daughter and scratched her arm so they didn't want him back. Duke is a pretty easy going boy, his favorite things to do are to play with toys, roll around in the grass and sit around. Although he enjoys being pet, he's not a needy dog and seems to do fine just hanging out. Duke has ... (Read More)shown a prey drive for other pets, especially small ones in that he'll crouch down low when he sees them come then jump up and bark. We don't believe he is dog friendly but have never really tried him with other dogs. I believe he is house trained but am not positive. Duke is a beautiful, healthy, strong dog, he enjoys walks but should have a gentle lead or some way to keep him from pulling as he is strong. He'd do best in a home with a fenced yard to keep him and other dogs safe.' Stop by the Rescue if you're interested in meeting Duke. We'd love to introduce you! (Less)

Chihuahua Mix    Age: Young Adult

Hey there, world! My name is Tucker, and I would love to cuddle with you. Is your lap available? OK, good. I'm ready to tuck right in. I got to ride on an airplane recently. Boy, was that weird. I flew from California to Idaho because some people wanted to save me. I'm really happy that they did. The people in California tried to find me a home first -- they even featured me in the Tracy Tribune (how cool is that?!?) -- but it wasn't meant to be. So, Idaho it is! The people here are pretty cool. They made me get neutered, but I was such a trooper. I even tolerate my 'cone of shame,' so I'm trying to be a really good boy. I'm just 4 years old ... (Read More)and ready for a fresh start now. Nobody knows much about my past or how I feel about dogs, cats, and kids, so we'll have to learn that together. I do keep my kennel clean, and I am ready to make friends with every human I meet. Also, I'm cute. So, do you want to cuddle with me? Like, forever? (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-04-17-00172Tank (male)

Lab Mix    Age: Adult

Do you happen to have a rope toy? A big one? The kind with a ball at one end? Because if you do, I think we should play with it right now. That's my favorite kind of toy, and boy oh boy would we have some fun. Tug-of-war with a rope toy -- there's just nothin' better. I'm Tank, and as you can tell, I love to play. I could tug on a rope toy for hours, but these wimpy humans can't handle it. Maybe you should introduce me to your dog so that I can have a buddy to romp around with, too. That way, we can all tire each other out. I came here from Pocatello originally after my family could no longer take care of me. I'm only 6, and I'm a pretty ... (Read More)good boy. Sometimes, I do like to talk a little. Just to let my people know that there are other dogs or strangers nearby. It's my responsibility to take care of them, you know. Rescue Me ID: 17-04-17-00121Jennie (female)

Chihuahua Mix    Age: Adult

And here is our sweet girl, Jennie. This wallflower just arrived from Arizona where she just went through major dental surgery. Jennie only has one tooth left and had a full dental performed on April 4th (with two fistulas repaired), so she needs to only eat soft food for a while. Jennie is about 7 years old and about 8 lbs. Her rescuer/foster mom, Sue, reports, 'Jennie was an unclaimed stray from the Maricopa Animal Care and Control Shelter in Phoenix. Jennie is 8 pounds of love. She gives kisses and just loves to lounge on the couch watching tv. She doesn't quite know what to make out of her leash and she needs a housebreaking refresher ... (Read More)course. But, she is very smart and learns quickly. She lived with my four small dogs and LOVED them. I would place her with older children since she startles easily and would not like someone who doesn't know how to handle her gently. She will sit quietly in the car, but if given the choice, she would rather stay home.' We're moving Jennie into a foster home, where it's quieter, so please feel free to call us at 208-794-0944 if you'd like to schedule a meet-and-greet. (Less)

FOSTER LOCATION: Boise, ID Nemo is an adorable little dog! He's got so much personality in such a small package. Nemo is an 10 year old Chihuahua/Min Pin mix who came to Fuzzy Pawz after finding himself in an Idaho shelter. This handsome boy is completely blind but he can still get around quite well without any help. He is curious and outgoing and gets along great using his other senses It will take him a few days to adjust to a new routine and place but once he does he has no fear in exploring and getting around on his own. When he can't find you or needs something he will chirp or bark. Nemo loves to go outside and wander in the ... Basenji Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

FOSTER LOCATION: Boise, ID KC is a four-year-old Cattle Dog/Basenji/Chihuahua (best guess). He was one of 23 dogs rescued from a hoarding situation in Owyhee County by a local shelter. KC was one of the most scared of the bunch; the shelter knew that he needed out so Fuzzy Pawz offered to place KC in one of our foster homes. KC has been in a foster home for about 6 weeks learning how to be a dog and to trust. He is making steady progress but will need a very special home to continue his journey. KC is fearful but doesn't bite or snap. He flights and hides when he is uncomfortable, so slow and calm handling is a must. KC is scared of ... (Read More)loud noises and will bolt to escape the noise. He is scared of most new people but does seem to be more comfortable with women rather than men; he will get used to a man but it takes more time. KC needs a home where his humans are very anxiety-aware and have an abundance of patience. He needs a consistent and safe environment that can let his true loyal and cuddly personality shine. KC will likely take weeks to become comfortable in his new home, so a crate that's his 'safe space' is a must. He is affectionate when he feels secure, and will hang out next to you on the couch or in the backyard helping with gardening. Give him some time and we feel he will become your best little buddy. KC lives with three other dogs and 4 cats in his foster home, and they have him helped tremendously. A home with a happy-go-lucky, confident dog(s) is a must. He loves to chase and snuggle with his canine buddies; they will help him learn to trust and be more confident. KC will need to be on leash until he is used to any new environment; this includes in his new homes yard/indoors. He needs a secure yard, should never be left alone outside and requires constant supervision until he is settled. He is most comfortable in his crate when left alone inside, so his new owners should continue his crate training. KC doesn't know any commands at this time and we are working on his leash skills but he is 100% house trained! KC will bond to his new family given a bit of time but will need a home with no children (under 15) and someone willing and able to give him the time and reassurance he needs. You won't be sorry love, patience and gentle guidance and the sky is the limit for this lovely boy. KC is neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated. His adoption fee is $50.00.     What a beauty Carmen is and she is just as sweet as she is beautiful. She is actually pretty quiet for a hound. She sits patiently and waits her turn to go out and play. Carmen really loves her bed and her play yard. She is much more comfortable being right next to us than than taking off to explore. That's different for a hound. :) She is very afraid of loud noises and terrified of guns. Maybe that's how she got lost in the mountains. A kind soul found her wondering alone, cold and hungry. Rescue Me ID: 17-04-10-00278Roko (male)

Redbone Coonhound Mix    Age: Puppy

Sometimes, it takes a little extra time and effort to find the right home for our dogs. This is Roko, and he was adopted by the most amazing family. They've worked with him for a while now, but we've all come to the realization that Roko is better suited to a home without small children. And that's OK. We're sure his people are out there somewhere. Roko's family is fostering him for the time being. Here's what Nichole has to say: 'Meet Roko, a 1.5-year-old male Redbone Coonhound available for adoption through Meridian Canine Rescue. We are fostering him until he finds his forever family. Although we had hoped to adopt him ourselves, we have ... (Read More)determined that it would be best for him to be in a home without children under the age of 12. I have gotten to know Roko over the past month and he is a beautiful, sweet boy. My husband and I have taken him to work with us every day and he is content laying in his crate, watching people pass by his office window, rarely ever barking at them. In order to be content in his crate, he does require consistent exercise every day. I've been riding a Razor scooter to keep up with him on our morning walks! We typically finish the day with another walk that focuses on obedience training. He's starting to get the hang of it! This guy loves food and will literally jump through hoops to get it. Food puzzles, toys that make a strategy game out of eating treats, keep him busy in the afternoons. His incredible, well-bred nose can sniff out anything! True to being a hound dog, he does bay when he is anxious or if he sees a small animal he'd like to chase up a tree, but he is typically pretty quiet indoors. A structured environment that includes crate time in conjunction with recreational activities would suit him best. I'd imagine he'd get bored and start to howl if he was in a backyard all day. He's approximately 60 pounds of lean muscle and incredibly powerful. Our two boys, ages 5 and 7, absolutely love to be with him, but now that Roko has playfully knocked them over a few times, he's figured out that he is stronger than they are and has recently started to test his dominance over them around the house. Because of this, I believe that it would be best if he was in a family where he is physically, the smallest member of the household. I think he can overcome this once he gets adjusted to his new environment, with proper training. His adoption fee is $300. He's already neutered, microchipped and vaccinated! Please share this with any of your friends who may be interested in this specialized breed of dog. He deserves to be in a home that has an appreciation for his natural hunting instincts. Redbone Coonhounds are rare in Idaho; if fact, Roko actually came from Texas! Once he is adopted, I'd like to offer his new family a session with professional dog trainer, Teri, from Pooch Pros. She knows a lot about Roko and his temperament, and is looking forward to helping him transition to his new family. Ivan was trying to be a tough guy and dominate the other two, and we decided they'd be better off apart.     Purdy is a young Shepard mix that has won her foster mom over. She is a sweet, lovable dog about a year old that is spayed, current on all vaccinations and microchiped. It seems that Purdy has had somewhat of a sheltered life because she is not comfortable coming inside the house but is working on it. She could use some leash training, but off leash she is great and responds to the command 'Come' immediately. Purdy is okay with other basic commands. German Shorthaired Pointer    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Cats, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Fearful/Anxious

This is our sweet boy Crockett. He is an 8 1/2 year old German Shorthaired Pointer. We found out 3 weeks ago due to HOA regulations and a very nasty neighbor that Crockett could not stay because he was jumping up and down at the fence. So we took him to a family members house where he dug out the next morning and went on an adventure for 19 days (even crossing the raging Boise river at one point), before finding a nice man who called us. His foot was torn up a bit and is now being treated at my vets office-hence the wrap on his leg. The other dog is Boone-Crockett's BFF. Been taking him to the vets to keep Crockett calm because he does ... (Read More)NOT like being kenneled. Crockett likes open spaces and loves attention-he likes being in the house and on the furniture, but he is not a house dog and has been an outdoor dog all his life. I have a small dog who is not very nice to these boys and they just seem to take it. He does like to 'communicate' with nature (a.k.a. bark) but it's more of a happy play with me bark, not a constant annoying or aggressive bark. We do have a bark collar for him. He is a GREAT bird dog but my husband works out of state and is not at home as much as he used to be so the boys don't get out as much and get bored easily I think. He's got lots of life and love left in him and we just want him to go to someone that will love and appreciate him as much as we do. He has been around cats in the past so shouldn't be a problem there. He's more into squirrels...LOL Eventhough he's a bird dog, fireworks set him off so he needs to be indoors or be sedated around the 4th or he will find a way to escape or do some form of damage. That's why I put fearful and anxious. He would need extra love and attention as he's never been separated from our family. Ps...his foot should be healed up in about a week! Thank you (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-04-04-00106Chubby (male)

Border Collie Mix    Age: Puppy

One word to describe Chubby? Smart. If anyone is looking for a pup to train, to do some agility work, to learn a whole bunch of tricks and love every minute of his education...then Chubby is your man. Chubby is very treat-motivated and is focused on his handler. He has been a delight to romp and play with, but he settles right in and waits for some direction when you ask him to pay attention. At just 9 months of age, Chubby is a promising young student just bursting with potential. Because he was so scared at the shelter in Utah, and because we've spent the past several days completing his vet work, we have yet to test Chubby with other dogs ... (Read More)and with kids. Once we learn more about his temperament in those areas, we will update his bio. For now, feel free to come meet him at our Rescue. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-04-04-00103St Nick (male)

American Staffordshire Terrier Mix    Age: Puppy

I mean, come on. Just look at that face. What a hunky meatball of a dog! This is Saint Nick, and he has wiggled his big body straight into our hearts. Saint Nick arrived at a shelter in Utah as a stray back in November. He had no luck getting adopted there, and after several requests for rescue help, we agreed to take him in. The previous shelter reports that Saint Nick was very reactive to other dogs and to cats, so he may do better as the only man in your life. But that's OK -- he has personality for days. You really don't need anyone else. Saint Nick is very strong and needs some gentle direction when it comes to walks. He'd much rather ... (Read More)go his own direction, but this guy wants to be by your side (or, better yet, in your lap!) and doesn't mind settling into the groove after a few minutes. Because he is so big and so powerful, we recommend a dog-savvy, experienced handler. Also, Saint Nick comes with a bit of a rap sheet, and it's important that whomever adopts him is fully aware of his behaviors. Here's what we were told: 'St. Nick bit a male walker's arm when he was trying to get him out of his kennel to take him for a walk back in December. I am not too confident that the walker was savvy with his breed and may have frustrated him when he was trying to get his choke chain on. The excitement combined with a ton of testosterone running through his system I think made him lash out. The shelter decided to neuter him to see if it would help, and it really did! He has made such a remarkable turnaround since then! He hasn't shown any aggression, and calmed way down whenever anyone approaches his kennel. All he wants now is for someone to take him for a walk. He gets really excited to see people and walks very well on the leash after being out for a few minutes. He's a strong boy, so it's usually a man that walks him every day because our gal walker is probably 100 pounds soaking wet .' We have seen absolutely zero signs of aggression with this guy. We have been able to leash him and walk him, and we feel that he is people-friendly. He is fine with full body touching; in fact, he leans right up against you and begs for more back scratches. With the right family, we believe Saint Nick will have a happy, positive future. (Less)

Chihuahua Mix    Age: Young Adult

Do you remember the Utah transport from last weekend? And our last minute-addition to the trip? Yep, that was Moo Goo Gai Pan, and he's now ready for adoption. We bet you're wondering how he got his name. Apparently, Moo Goo Gai Pan (Moo Goo for short) was picked up as a stray in Utah. When he was found, he was busy enjoying a meal somebody had left behind in a Chinese food takeout container. And somehow, the name just suits him. He is quirky and delightful. Ready to run zoomies or to sit on your lap and people-watch, Moo Goo is the right size and temperament for just about everybody. We haven't tested this 2 year old with dogs or kids, but ... Rescue Me ID: 17-04-03-00169Chonchos (male)

Chihuahua Mix    Age: Adult

Got a box of tissues? Because you may very well need them. This is Chonchos. He is approximately 9 years old, and when we saw the post asking for a rescue to help this sweet senior guy, we had to say yes. He was at a shelter in Utah. Along with his best friend for life, Chip. The two were a bonded pair. We said we'd take them both. Then we got a phone call. Chip had been found in his kennel one morning, unresponsive. People rushed him to the vet, but it was too late. Chip had passed. And Chonchos remained, lost and sad without his partner. So when Chonchos arrived, we didn't have the heart to place him in a kennel during his initial hold ... (Read More)period. We just couldn't bear to see him alone. Instead, we found an amazing foster home for him, with one of our staff members. Kimber agreed to take Chonchos home and to give him some much-needed TLC during his week of rest. Kimber says, 'Let me start by saying I have never cared Pom's. This guy is a dream. He loves to be with People and other dogs. He is very sweet and kind. He is fully house trained and kennel trained. 'He has a cute little bear type growl to let you know he needs out. He comes when called, for the most part, he likes outside. Not much good at the sit, but he does stay when told. He will not last long!' Now, Chonchos is at the Rescue and hoping that his family will walk in very soon. He waits at the kennel door for people to come visit with him. He's waiting for you. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-04-03-00071Bradley (male)

American Staffordshire Terrier Mix    Age: Puppy

This hunky gentleman arrived from Utah last weekend and went straight to the coolest foster home ever. He is 1.5 years old and good with dogs, cats, and kids. Here's what foster dad Carson has to say: 'Bradley is such a cuddle bug! He has such a great young personality, he gets along with other dogs great both big and small. Cats aren't an issue either, he doesn't show any aggression or even much interest. He could use some more training on a leash due to him pulling. He does get very excited when he meets new people or just when you get home, so he does want to jump up. He does give 'love bites' when he gives kisses, so he may nip at you ... (Read More)but doesn't mean to. He'll need some basic training but he is so eager to please. He is kennel and house trained. No issues with crating him but he'd prefer to cuddle next to you at night ;). Bradley will make a great addition to anyone's family.' For now, Bradley will stay in his foster home. Franklin is a calm, gentle, easy going boy who would do well in most homes. He is a little leery of young kids and may growl and nip if provoked by young kids, so he would be most appropriate for a home with teens and adults. Puppy is in great health and enjoys walks and hikes. He weighs in at about 6 pounds and has no known allergies or medical issues. He is a total charmer and doesn't tend to bark much except with new human visitors, but he warms up after a few minutes. Tip: if you pick him up and let him lick your nose ... (Read More)he warms up right away. Puppy is not fully potty trained or crate trained but with some structure and consistency he will likely learn in both areas. I'm sad about letting him go but I know he'd be happier with an owner who is home more hours of the day to give and receive love. (Less)

[Read About Natural Incontinence Care] Howie is an amazing dog. Great temperament very mellow, but gets excited when you get home, new people come over, and time to play. He loves to give kisses and sometimes jump up for hugs, so may scare small children. He has had cancer and it may be back, but we cannot afford the medical attention he needs. He also may have some type of yeast infection judging by the corn chip smell he gets. He leaks a little urine from previous cancer removal...dribbles in sleep. He also has pancreatitis and needs to eat special food. We cook his food and it keeps it at bay. We love him very much, but just cannot afford to ... (Read More)have him. Rescue Me ID: 17-02-23-00210Ruger (male)

Bluetick Coonhound Mix    Age: Senior

A 9 year old retiree, Ruger found himself at another Idaho shelter without a home to spend his golden years. We were more than happy to take him in and begin the search for an adopter. Ruger has lived in a foster home for the past week, but he is now available for adoption at the Rescue. Foster mom, Shirley, says, 'Ruger is doing wonderful, he is a gentle pup and gets along well with my dog. You can tell he has been trained, if you call (in most cases) he will come, sometimes his nose is working on a smell. If you tell him no he stops whatever he was doing (like trying to get on the couch), he now knows he doesn't get on the furniture. He ... (Read More)has had a bath and looks and smells great. He sleeps or rests on his blankets, something for his new owners should know, lay them down where you want him to (his space) and that is where he will lay. He has not used the kennel at all since he has been here, I have a blanket at the end of my bed and that is where he sleeps, and he sleeps all night. We did discover he cannot be in a house with a cat, he is a trained coon dog and reacted accordingly, which is too bad because this family friend (we brought him with us because they wanted to see him) fell in love with him. We were there two hours before he noticed the cat on the back of the couch and went after him, it took two of us to get him under control. He was not violent at all, but any small animal in the house would not be safe (hamsters etc).' *Please contact us for his adoption fee. (Less)

Chihuahua Mix    Age: Puppy

Hello, human! Would you like to play with me? Please? Pretty, pretty please? 'Cause I am a PUPPY (just turned 10 whole months), and I want to be your friend. We could have so much fun together. Let's go for a car ride, OK? And then maybe we can go to the park, too. Even the dog park. I love other dogs. Seriously, they make me so happy. Especially when they'll play and wrestle with me. I haven't been around bigger dogs, though. Not sure how I feel about them. They would probably intimidate me. But every time I see a dog my size, I immediately decide that he needs to be my best friend. Right this second. People say I come on a little strong. I ... (Read More)say life's too short not to spend every minute wrestling and romping. I'm a little shy when I meet new people. Unfortunately, my last family didn't give me a lot of time to adjust to them. I warmed right up to the mom -- she was wonderful! But I wasn't so sure about the dad and kids, so after a few days, they brought me back. I thought I'd be bummed, but I kinda liked coming back to see all my friends again. I'm looking for a family that will keep me forever this time. And forever means forever. I will learn to love you all, and if you have other dogs, I think we'll do just fine together. (Less)

Australian Cattle Dog Mix    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Low Energy, Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Arthritis

FOSTER LOCATION: Meridian, ID Molly is approximately 12 years old and we think she is a Cattle Dog, Australian Shepherd mix. She got the size of a cattle dog, but the shape of an Australian Shepherd. She is very calm and relaxed in the house. As she is older she does enjoy a peaceful and calm environment. She isn't huge into chasing toys are balls, but she will happily deconstruct a toy if you give her one. She is very treat motivated. She does struggle with begging for food as she's obviously been rewarded many times over for it in the past, but with a little training and practice she could quickly be trained out of it! Molly is ... (Read More)very sweet and has a great personality. When you fill up her food bowl you will be rewarded with the cutest little 'happy hops' from her. She does enjoy getting out and walking as well as exploring the backyard. However, she is very much an indoor dog and does not want to spend very much time outside when it is cold. She does well with other dogs, yet she is a food stealer and will happily eat all other dog's food so free feeding her with other dogs in the house would not be a good idea. She works best with getting a set meal for breakfast and dinner. She will growl at another dog if she feels the dog is getting into her bubble, but is not aggressive with dogs. Molly and chickens are a no go! She will happily eat them given the chance! Molly knows basic obedience commands and does not chew on household items. She is the perfect house dog! This little girl deserves a wonderful forever home! Rescue Me ID: 17-02-06-00143Nala (female)

Chihuahua Mix    Age: Adult

Miss Nala arrived recently from Arizona and has been hanging out in a foster home where it's calm and quiet. She is a timid, shy little girl, who would like nothing more than a peaceful home of her very own. Nala is 6-7 years old, spayed, utd on shots, and microchipped. She does very well with dogs and cats -- in fact, she is currently staying in a foster home with one of our recently adopted dogs, Fitz. Nala is both house and kennel trained as well. Because of her temperament, we're looking for a mature household without any kids, as Nala would prefer to be around adults who would respect her boundaries and move a little more slowly. It was ... (Read More)reported that Nala bit a child, but the records are confusing. She has shown no signs of aggression here. Nala was previously sheltered at a facility in Arizona, and during her stay, she became pregnant. Nala had one fetus about 28 days old when the county shelter spayed her. We know that Nala has been through a lot of upheaval and that explains why she doesn't like to be picked up from the front and why she's reluctant to move out of her safe kennel space when she meets new people. Once Nala decompresses in a home, she is an absolute love and wants to hang out on the couch.     We have learned a few things about our Chip. He would do best with a woman. He also needs a quiet home. He gets scared easily and noise really bothers him. He's a pretty sensitive little man. A sad lonely world. Day in and day out spent on a chain tied to a dog house. Your whole life consists of about 6 feet in every direction. :( Then someone comes along to help. You find yourself being able to run and play. You roll in the snow. You run after balls. You find out that warm bed, those bright colored toys and all that yummy food is just for you. You also find out that there are people who come to play that are kind and ... (Read More)totally crazy about you. I'd say that's a definite life change. Chip is about 4 years old. Border Collie Mix    Age: Young Adult

Hank is a Cowdog mix, around 2 years old and weighs 62lbs. He came to us as a stray from Buhl in December, that was never claimed by an owner. The end of January Hank was adopted by a sweet family but unfortunately returned to us the week after. It was clear that Hank didn't want to make friends with the cat in the home, he had other ideas. It is always a risk adopting to a home with kitties when we don't know the dog's prior history with cats or not able to tests dogs with cats since we are only a dog shelter. If it wasn't for Hank not liking cats, he wouldn't have been returned. He bonded very quickly with the wife, he decided that she was ... (Read More)his human. Hank wanted to go and be where ever she went. He was also wonderful with the kids of any age, his best friend was a toddler whom he played fetch with and let hand feed him out of his bowl. Hank is a gentle guy. Another thing we have learned about Hank he needs to be able to touch you during the night, just to see if you are still where you went to bed. So a home that is okay with sharing the bed at night or have a low enough bed where Hank can see you and make sure you didn't leave him! Hank will make a very lovable and loyal family dog! (Less)

White Shepherd    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Seizures

[Read About Natural Seizure Care] I need to find my son's white german shepherd, Bylo, his forever home. He is eight years old (12/5/2016) and is on medication for idiopathic seizure disorder which is well controlled. He's a large goofy boy and part of our family. Bylo is very affectionate and an excellent companion. It would be helpful for him to have someone that has experience with the shepherd breed and able to work on socialization. He is protective of his family and nervous around new people until he warms up. He is very responsive to commands and is leash and house trained. He's close to 80lbs, up to date on vaccinations and neutered. He ... (Read More)is also microchipped. He'd probably do best in a one dog home and has never been around cats. My son has been diagnosed with asthma and unfortunately his 'best friend' is one of his triggers. It breaks my heart to have to do this but I need to do what is best for all of us. We live in Boise and really need to find somewhere for Bylo as soon as we can. If you are interested please contact us. Thank you (Less)

Border Collie Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Needs Vaccinations

SAY HELLO TO PUPPY MOSBY! Mosby is a 12 week old border collie mix puppy. Mosby is neutered, has had his first and second shots, been dewormed, and microchipped. Fenced yard with a 6 foot or taller fence (no underground fences) is a must and all other animals in the home must be fixed. There will be zero exceptions to these requirements for Mosby so please don't ask. Mosby is very energetic and would do best with another playful dog. No children under 10 as the higher energy of smaller children is not a good mix for Mosby. Socialization will be very important for him and a puppy kindergarten class would be a great place to start! Rescue Me ID: 16-10-27-00248Topaz (female)

Boxer Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed

We are so crazy about this pretty girl. She has been in a foster home where she learned so many things to become a well behaved puppy. She is a lover and a 'cuddler'. She loves to go for walks and is very good in the car. Her foster momma thought she really needed other dogs to play with so Tope is with us and the rest of the gang at the shelter. Topaz does not like to be alone. She has a case of separation anxiety and really needs some company. She is very gentle and has the sweetest little personality. She is super sensitive and gets her feelings hurt pretty easy. No loud voices for this little lady. It would break her heart. ... (Read More)Topaz loves other dogs and kids. She is even good with kitties. She is just all around sweet. Topaz is about 10 months old. She is potty trained, spayed, up on all her vaccinations and micro chipped. She is a Rottie/Boxer cross so she is a big girl. She would love an inside home, a fenced yard and a fun family to snuggle with. Please call Lorrie 208 339 0130 or email kjfam@dcdi.net for an application. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-10-13-00229Gracie (female)

Rhodesian Ridgeback Mix    Age: Puppy

Meet Gracie, the cutest little Rhodesian Ridgeback you could ever meet. She's a 1 year old sweetheart, with lots of love and licks for her family. Gracie is full of energy for a game of catch out in the yard, but when she comes inside she knows how to settle right down, use her 'inside manners,' and chill out at your feet or in her crate. She is friendly with the neighbor dog through the fence, but hasn't been tested with other dogs. Gracie is interested in cats but we're unsure how she would do with one in the house. She loves all people, especially little kids, while still being a good watchdog when someone comes to the door. Gracie walks ... (Read More)well on a leash, not pulling or tugging. She is learning 'come', 'sit' and 'stay'. Due to a weak esophagus, Gracie does best when she can eat smaller meals during the day, with her front paws up on a bench or step-stool. Just look into her soft brown eyes and fall in love!' Gracie is in a foster home; please contact the rescue to arrange a meeting. (Less)

American Staffordshire Terrier Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Low Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Hi, My name is Zoey and I am a snuggly pibble (aka a loving pitbull). My previous owner treated me horribly, beating me in the head and breaking my tail several times so that now it is a unique tail. I can't wag my tail so I have to express my happiness through my pretty eyes and my slobbery tongue! I am looking for a furever family that will love me for who I am and let me sleep on their bed, which I love as much as playing. I also would like a home that will shower me with love and maybe even have another dog that I can play with. I am not destructive when left alone and am housebroken. I don't do cats though, unless they are in my mouth ... (Read More);-) I am spayed and up to date on vaccinations. (Less)

Australian Shepherd Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Athena is a energetic almost 2 yrs old, 45lb Aussie/ Border Collie mix who is great with kids, some dogs, cats. I currently have a English Mastiff who she gets along with well but since she would run under his legs to play, she got stepped on. Athena went through surgery on her ACL in December and is now fine. Athena then ate her collar so that was another surgery that she recovered fine from ( her new name should be Lucky). As my EM ages he is not enough stimulation ( she also keeps trying to herd him since he is so bit) for her or our yard even though it is a quarter acre. I would like her to go to a family with land or a home that has ... (Read More)older children that can walk her often so that she does not get bored and dig. I will come to you at your home if you are interested in meeting her so I know she is going to a good home. I have put over a $3000 into my pup between vaccinations, surgery, micro-chipping, etc so please only serious inquires from people who fit the criteria because loving her is not enough she needs the room and stimulation as well. Thank you :) Rehoming fee:$75 P.S. I have posted before but I was to emotionally tied to her to let her go despite the flood of requests to adopt her. I figured she would be fine when we bought some acreage but we are now moving to a house without acreage and my youngest just popped positive for allergies to dogs and cats so we need to decrease the amount of animals in our house. PIease Read Before Adopting a Dog in Idaho
Dogs can make good pets in Idaho if they match your IifestyIe. Dogs have a reputation for being "man's best friend" for excellent reasons. Dogs are wonderful companions. Many breeds, in addition to being affectionate, devoted members of the family, are useful working dogs and guardians. Most dogs form tight bonds with their humans, and need to be cared for like the valuable family members they are. But sadly, some owners do not live up to the responsibility and involvement it takes to properly care for a dog throughout its life. Dogs can become the victims of neglect or active abuse. Some dogs receive tender, attentive care from their owners, but no longer have a home after their owner passes away or experiences a major life event that makes him unable to keep his dog. There are many more dogs than there are homes for dogs, and dogs that are not spayed or neutered can accidentally produce large numbers of puppies, exacerbating overpopulation. For this reason, three to four million dogs, many of them perfectly healthy and wonderful animals, are euthanized in the U.S. each year.

Many people get excited about owning a new dog, decide to get a puppy, and then pick one out at a pet shop or visit a breeder with a new litter. However, there are so many wonderful, friendly dogs in need of adoption, including puppies and purebreds. Some of these dogs might even be a better fit for a family than a new puppy; for instance, some adult dogs in need of adoption are already housebroken and obedience trained. Adoption is typically much less expensive than purchasing a dog. People who adopt dogs find the experience extremely rewarding, bond very closely with their dogs, and have the added satisfaction of knowing that one less animal has to be euthanized. If your family is ready for a canine companion, please consider adopting a dog!
