Rescue Me ID: 14-09-23-00096Dax (male)

Australian Shepherd    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: High Energy, Submissive

Dax is a Double (diluted) Red Merle working style Aussie, Believed to be pure bred. He will be 3 years old in Dec 2014. He is about 45/50lbs. Dax must be watched around small kids as he does not like them touching him. He is not aggressive about, just does not want small kids touching him. Dax does not like ANYONE outside 'his' immediate Family touching him either. Dax is very loyal to his Family. Again, He is Not aggressive, just does not like 'strangers' touching him. Dax WILL play with any one, any age, any time, as long as they throw the toy. He is good with chickens, ducks, cats and other small animals. He is good with other dogs, even ... (Read More)small dogs, but would be best in a single dog home as Dax truly believes he is attention deprived. While Dax rides very well in the car, He prefers not too. Dax is good when going places, but again, prefers not too. Dax does Not herd anything, but will Nip the other dogs when 'playing' chase. So must be watch and redirected when playing with small dogs, as This is 'not fair play' as far as the chihuahua is concerned. He is not a hyper dog, just needs a little more then what we can provide. Dax needs a quite home and genital touch when working with him. He also needs a home w/o Anxiety and Stress Disorders. He is VERY sensitive to ones emotional state, and does not do well with our Anxiety and Stress. We truly love Dax's goofy personality, but He simply Needs a better home, even if it's with a Rescue Group to try and help him over come some of his issues, as we have tried, and failed. We even thought we had found Dax a good home a few months ago, but because life had changed and Dax Not doing well around small kids, I have been asked to take Dax back. (Less)

Chihuahua Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

FOSTER LOCATION: Meridian, ID NO MORE SINGIN' THE BLUES...This gorgeous boy came to the shelter with a broken femur...3 surgeries later and Blue is healed and ready for his new furever home! He is a 1 year old, 20lb Chihuahua mix who loves to cuddle! Blue loves his humans and will greet them at the door with wiggles and kisses. He gets along great with other dogs and especially loves big dogs. He will cuddle right into their curves and will soon drift off into a warm slumber. He like to play with other dogs and is very loud when playing. It sounds like he's growling - but it's all for fun. Blue isn't too sure about cats...we've ... (Read More)encountered a few on our walks and he seems a bit scared and gives them a wide berth! Blue would enjoy an active family who will take him on adventures. He has come to love car rides and will go anywhere with you. Daily walks and playing with another dog will keep this boy happy. Blue is not a fan of being cold and will find a way to warm up...cuddling on a lap, sunning in the yard, snuggling under the covers at bedtime or a pile of blankets on the floor. He also enjoys chewing on bones & bully sticks. When he's bored, he will chew on things he's not suppose to...pencils & action figures are his favorite. Blue has been living in older kids and does fine; he is not good with smaller kids - the noise and activity level tend to stress him out and he will nip at them. So Blue needs to go to a home with kids 15 and older. Blue is house-trained, crate-trained, will sit for treats and walks well on a leash. If you are interested in adding Blue to your household please go to our website and complete an application: http://fuzzypawzrescue.com/adopt/adoption-application-2/ There is a $40 adoption fee for Blue Blue has been neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. Rescue Me ID: 14-09-22-00139Trapper (male)

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Puppy

Health: Needs to be Neutered

Trapper is a male shepherd mix about 1 1/2 years old. He is very nice looking with his tri-colored coat and expressive eyebrows. Trapper has some natural confidence but has not had not much training; he walks on lead and is attentive but doesn't appear to know any commands. He does jump up but will drop down quickly with a nudge. Trapper was interested in the ball & Frisbee but it appears he's not been exposed to toys before. Very little is known of his history; he appears dog friendly and enjoys human interaction but we can't say much about his behavior with children or other pets. Miniature Pinscher Mix    Age: Young Adult

Health: Spayed

Allyson is a beautiful example of a Miniature Pinscher, but she does have a tail. She's a spayed adult female, about 3 years old. Allyson is confident and well mannered off or on lead. She appears house trained, does well in her kennel, and is a quiet pleasant girl to handle & be around. She appears interested in toys but we haven't found her favorite yet. Allyson walks nicely on lead, jumps willingly into a car, and is interested in other dogs. Allyson knows sit and will stand up & gently receive treats. Siberian Husky    Age: Young Adult

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Brother & Sister MUST be homed together! A few words from their current owner.... 'Navi & Keeni have been together since birth. I have tried to separate them for things like walks, dog grooming, etc. and this is not good at all. I worry that if they aren't placed together neither one of them, especially Keeni, will do well. Navi is a bit shy and sticks to herself. She loves her humans but doesn't require a whole lot of attention. She is very content with just relaxing around the house. I keep a crate in the house for her because she likes to be in it and often that's where I find her throughout the day. No food allergies or special needs. ... (Read More)She is spayed and up to date on all her vaccines. Since the day I got her home I have kept a house fan on for both her and Keeni...they like the cool air. Keeni is all about attention. He is very affectionate and loves his humans. He doesn't like to be crated and has a hard time being in a kennel/run. He is a bit of an escape artist. Extra measures have to be taken with him to make sure he doesn't get out of where ever he is placed. No food allergies or special needs. He is neutered and up to date on all his vaccines. Both are house trained, but Navi has had a few accidents. If the yard is wet she doesn't like to go out. Keeni will knock on the door to let you know when he needs out and also when he's ready to come back in. Neither has been around cats. They have been around a few other dogs and did well (Keeni was a bit protective and did growl at them).' Rescue Me ID: 14-09-14-00455Gracie (female)

Lab    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Cats
Personality: High Energy
Health: Needs to be Spayed, Needs Vaccinations

Gracie belongs to a homeless Vet. Until last week they had a home in assisted rent complex. Gracie has never been house trained and had not been socialized to people. She was housed with a cat and they got along well. Suddenly Gracie is living outside and her world is scary and uncertain. She barks and growls when approached but is approachable. We now have a collar on her and she adjust very quickly but she chewed the leash off when it was on her for 30 minutes. Gracie is wonderful with her human, bouncing and playful, fetching/retrieving but has zero manners or training. She will stay very close when they walk anywhere. She seems to be OK ... (Read More)with our two border collies, growling and barking but not assertive or aggressive, even touching noses. If I had time I would work at training her, I think she could be a great dog, but at this time she is scared and has three days before she must be taken to the shelter. Due to her growling, hackles up and lack of any social skills with humans I don't think she will make the cut to the floor and therefore will be euthanized. Gracie had her first real meal today in weeks and looks very full in the picture. She is playful. I can go into the enclosure even when her human is not there and while she is scared and very tentative she is also reservedly curious. Her world has been turned upside down as she went from knowing a small 5th floor apt as the whole world to living outside ad having a lot of activity and people around. She is not one to bark all day or excessively, she did try digging one day but had not eaten in two days, I took her food, put a digging obstacle in front of the gate and have had no further problems. She is alone most of the day and does not exhibit a habit of tearing up or senseless chewing. We would like to see Gracie get a fair chance at life. Who ever adopts Gracie will need to show they have the skills to train this girl. She is a gorgeous gal with bright eyes and perky ears, a playful bounce and the desire to please her human. He just is unable to care for her, and is out of options. He has asked me to post this on his behalf. He is staying at our house, outside with Gracie for 4 more days. Then they are both gone. (Less)

Mickey, a male 8 to 10 weeks old tri colored Shih Tzu cross. Mickey was found looking for food on the side of the road, was picked up and taken to animal shelter; scared, cold facing an uncertain future the rescue took Mickey in. Chihuahua Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Low Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

FOSTER LOCATION: Meridian, ID Dubby came to Fuzzy Pawz Rescue after finding himself and about 20 of his closest friends at an animal shelter. Unsure of why he was there, why his friends started to disappear (they were adopted) and why he was left in the company of strangers Dubby became shy. The shelter knew that all Dubby needed was a warm lap and some sweet nothings whispered in his ear to find the zest in life again so Fuzzy Pawz was called. Dubby has been in a foster home for a few weeks and what can we say about this little guy, hmmm. How about he is the sweetest boy EVER! Dubby is an 8 year old Chihuahua; the short, stocky ... (Read More)variety and is totally adorable and did we mention that he is a sweetheart? This little guy loves to lay with his person, cuddling on the couch is a favorite past time; he is content to lie around all day or be as active as you want. Dubby is very well behaved and he is pretty calm in the house and just wants to be with his human no matter what they are doing. He's house trained, great to walk and likes chew toys but not much else as far as toys. He rides well in a car with a seatbelt but whines a little if he's riding in a crate. He gets along great with other dogs and cats, good around kids. He seems to know basic commands but tends to ignore you if you let him. While he is good with kids we would not recommend him for kids under 10, he is pretty lazy. We really can't say enough good things about the little guy. He just really wants his own human to love. If you think that human is you please go fill out an adoption application and we will get back to you about him: http://fuzzypawzrescue.com/adopt/adoption-application-2/ Dubby is neutered, vaccinated and microchipped There is a $40 adoption fee for Dubby (Less)

He was saved from a situation that was very dominate and controlling. He is very protective of the car when he is in it, but calms down immediately when you address him. He does sometimes get snappy around certain men and enjoys herding folks about. He is very loving and only 1.5 years old. Still has lots of growth and he is incredibly smart! I prefer he has another dog friend and an active lifestyle would suit him best! He is so good on the leash and stays close on hikes. I absolutely adore him though I have an apartment that is lacking a yard.

We adopted Boomer 3 months ago, he is a great little companion to me. The only reason I can't keep him is, he is totally terrified of my husband. He constantly barks the entire time he is around my husband, my husband frequently travels for work. Boomer is getting worse every time my husband comes home. When alone with Boomer he is really a fun playful little guy. Would make a mature woman a great companion.

I really need to find a new home for my dog. I adopted her 2 years ago but things have recently changed in our life and we don't have the time she needs.     Harley is a gentle 10 year old soul, deaf in both ears, looking for a new home. We are having him neutered and his left ear may have a yeast infection which will be addressed. Harley was brought in with his sister, she was adopted by a couple that already have 2 other Shepherds and could not take Harley. They came to the shelter via a domestic violence intervention, animal control was called, the husband was going to have Harley euthanized because he was 'old', animal control convinced him to surrender Harley to them in hopes of finding a forever home. He seems to be good with people, he's not really interested in other dogs, not sure on ... (Read More)cats yet, we may know more tomorrow. He is an absolute beautiful fella with a sweet disposition. She loves to chase squirrels, snuggle with dish rags, and bite at flies. She never bites but has nipped at other dogs. My job changed and I simply do not have the availability for her that she needs and loves so much. I do not know how she is with tiny children, but she loves my two teenagers greatly.     Bet you can't resist his smile! FOSTER LOCATION: Boise, ID Two years ago JJ was found as a stray, moved in with a lovely senior woman and enjoyed life to the fullest. Sadly his mom developed health issues that didn't allow her to care for this adorable 4 year old Chihuahua any longer. Fuzzy Pawz is now dedicated to finding JJ the perfect forever home. JJ is a very nice boy who loves to be with his person; he loves to sit in your lap or next to you and he likes to be held and cuddled on. JJ has not been socialized very well so he does take a minute or two to make friends with people; but once he does look out, he'll smother you with ... (Read More)kisses. We do require kids 14+ as he has never lived with kids to our knowledge. Sweet, stocky, sturdy and a bit stubborn is how we'd describe this boy. He is very smart and knows 'sit', 'wait', 'follow me', and 'down'. We had been working on 'do your business', not sure if that one has stuck yet or not. He walks on a leash nicely. He even knows to wait to be invited into/out of the house. While he knows all of these things and does them well 90% of the time he does have a stubborn streak and will employ 'selective hearing' from time to time. JJ needs a stable household with someone who can take the time to finish house training him. We are sure he would already be housetrained however there is another dog in his current residence that is not house trained. Some consistent house training work for a few days and this will be taken are of. If you can offer o the life he deserves please fill out the adoption application at http://fuzzypawzrescue.com/adopt/adoption-application-2/ There is an adoption fee of $40 to adopt JJ JJ is neutered, vaccinated (Less)

Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

I'm Hooch, the most laid back, easy going, mellow and drama free boxer boy you're going to meet. I am 5 years old and like things pretty simple. Before I come to live with my foster mom, life was not to good to me. I wasn't allowed in the house so I didn't know the rules about not going potty in the house - I didn't know any of the rules about anything. I never had anybody care enough about me to teach me but my foster mom is helping me learn how to be quite the boxer gentleman. I'm housebroke and will deal with the crate without too much fuss. I play well with other dogs and pay no attention to the cats. I'm friendly to everybody I ... (Read More)meet. I really like getting the loves and attention. I can give really good hugs. I like taking car rides and can walk pretty good on leash. I was also very skinny when I got here-my mouth hurt too much to eat. My foster mom found these tumor things and got me all fixed up. I love to eat now!! I try to resist but if there is food left out on a counter I just have to get it. I am ready to find my furever family. He is personable and attentive. Since he's a senior he's slowed down a bit but still has some pep to his step especially when heading outside. It's reported Ranger is house trained. He is gentle on leash but wanders a bit and will need to work on his skills. Ranger knows and performs the same tricks as his brother...sit, down, stay and come, with or without treats...but he does like treats and takes them gently. Ranger is attentive to his handler and enjoys affection and ... (Read More)companionship. It's reported he's been around kids of all ages without any issues. Boxer    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament

Miss Bella wants nothing more than to be your forever companion. Bella first came to us as an owner surrender due to her owner battling a lung disease. She came with another boxer that was very dominate over her. Bella would go off away from everybody so to stay out of this other boxers way. We seperated them and she started building her confidence and coming out of her shell. Bella was then adopted by a man that absolutely loved her and they were together 24/7. Then we get a phone call that he just learned that he is sick and terminal. His only concern was in making sure this sweet girl was taken care of. With that, I'm sure ... Bella loves everybody but she does gravitate more towards men. She loves going on car rides. Oh and she loves Burger King french fries. Rescue Me ID: 14-03-05-00263Misty (female)

Chihuahua Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Seizures

[Read About Natural Seizure Care] FOSTER LOCATION: Boise, ID Silly, goofy, sweet, gentle those are the words we who know her use to describe Misty the 3 year old Chihuahua mix. This pretty, long legged girl is just a joy to be around with her lopsided grin and her ambling walk. Misty is one of those dogs that just make you smile every time you see her face or watch her prance over to you for some loves. Misty loves nice long scratches and rubs on her chest and is always ready to settle down on the couch for a nap and a bit of TV watching with her family. We do require that Misty do not go to a home that has kids under 15 as she does get ... (Read More)overwhelmed by too much going on. Misty gets along fine with other small dogs but big dogs scare her. Misty would do best in a household that has other dogs her size or as an only dog where she can get all the love and attention. She is mostly fine with the cats in her foster home; she will on occasion take offense to them if they are being too pushy, but it is just barking. Misty came from a home in California where the humans were inbreeding and overbreeding the dogs in their home; sadly Misty's dog mom had been bred so many times and was so old that she began to have problems. Misty was stuck in the birth canal for a while darning cutting off her oxygen supply. As a result Misty has a touch of neurological damage from birth; she won't get worse and it does not affect her hardly at all. The worst you will notice is that it can sometimes take her an extra second to process information when she is tired or scared. And she does have a funny little prance when she walks; but it doesn't slow her down at all, it is the only thing she has ever known and she gets around great. Misty is house trained and very easy going. She likes her crate and will often go in on her own just to take a nap; she is very, very easy to live with. She does not enjoy walking on leash, but she does enjoy sitting in the sun in the backyard and she is great in the house. Misty does need a family that will allow her to have quiet time in her crate (her favorite place to nap) and will let her live the quiet, spoiled life she deserves. She will need a home that has a fenced yard so she can sunbathe to her hearts content. She would love to spend her days sitting in your lap soaking up your love. She really is a playful, happy little girl who has turned lemons into lemonade. If you can offer our little girl the life she should have always had please fill out the adoption application at http://fuzzypawzrescue.com/adopt/adoption-application-2/ There is an adoption fee of $40 to adopt Misty Misty is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped *Misty is eligible for our Pets for Patriots Program **You can see a short video of Misty walking here: http://youtu.be/3NdK4kQbVoo (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Dog in Idaho
Dogs can make good pets in Idaho if they match your IifestyIe. Dogs have a reputation for being "man's best friend" for excellent reasons. Dogs are wonderful companions. Many breeds, in addition to being affectionate, devoted members of the family, are useful working dogs and guardians. Most dogs form tight bonds with their humans, and need to be cared for like the valuable family members they are. But sadly, some owners do not live up to the responsibility and involvement it takes to properly care for a dog throughout its life. Dogs can become the victims of neglect or active abuse. Some dogs receive tender, attentive care from their owners, but no longer have a home after their owner passes away or experiences a major life event that makes him unable to keep his dog. There are many more dogs than there are homes for dogs, and dogs that are not spayed or neutered can accidentally produce large numbers of puppies, exacerbating overpopulation. For this reason, three to four million dogs, many of them perfectly healthy and wonderful animals, are euthanized in the U.S. each year.

Many people get excited about owning a new dog, decide to get a puppy, and then pick one out at a pet shop or visit a breeder with a new litter. However, there are so many wonderful, friendly dogs in need of adoption, including puppies and purebreds. Some of these dogs might even be a better fit for a family than a new puppy; for instance, some adult dogs in need of adoption are already housebroken and obedience trained. Adoption is typically much less expensive than purchasing a dog. People who adopt dogs find the experience extremely rewarding, bond very closely with their dogs, and have the added satisfaction of knowing that one less animal has to be euthanized. If your family is ready for a canine companion, please consider adopting a dog!

lnteresting Dog Trivia Low-Cost Idaho Spay & Neuter Clinics
All dogs, even cute little lap dogs, are ultimately descended from domesticated wolves. There are hundreds of dog breeds with extremely varied characteristics and sizes, from the tiniest teacup Chihuahua to the hugest Mastiff, but all of these breeds make up just one species Canis lupus familiaris and can theoretically breed with one another (although there can be practical and health related constraints.) The dog was the earliest domesticated animal. Dogs can hear much lower frequencies than humans, over twice as high as humans, and about four times as far as humans.
