Rescue Me ID: 16-02-08-00277Stimpy (male)

Chihuahua Mix    Age: Young Adult

Health: Neutered

Stimpy is a two and a half year old Chihuahua/Terrier mix. Stimpy is currently very quiet and reserved; he likes to cuddle with the volunteers. We think with the right owner(s) he's going to show his true personality. He did fine walking on a leash and seemed to enjoy being out and about. He seems curious about the other dogs but not aggressive. We'd recommend Stimpy for a mature household without young children who may startle him with their quick movements. Stimpy needs a nice warm lap, or two, and some extended cuddle time. If you'd like to meet Stimpy, visit the rescue during our business hours, 11 am - 4 pm daily. *Please contact the ... Rescue Me ID: 16-02-08-00271Ren (male)

Chihuahua Mix    Age: Young Adult

Ren is a 2 1/2 year old Chihuahua mix who looks a little like a Lab puppy as he's tall and dark. It's reported he's good with dogs, cats, kids...just about everyone & everything. Currently he's behaving timidly in his kennel (lots of new things & other dogs) but once outside he regains his confidence and has a lovely time. We have reports that Ren jumps very high, 6 feet, and has been know to clear 4 foot fences with a single bound; he will need a secure, fenced yard and some monitoring while he's outside. Ren is crate trained, knows the commands crate & out, and walks on a leash fairly well (he tugs a little). He is also reported to be ... (Read More)house/kennel trained. Ren is a bit thin but apparently in good health; he is micro-chipped and ready to home. If you'd like to meet Ren, visit the rescue during our business hours, 11 am - 4 pm daily. *Please contact the rescue for Ren's adoption fee. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-02-08-00266Twinkle (female)

Chihuahua Mix    Age: Young Adult

Twinkle is a 2 year old female Chihuahua. This itty bitty girl possesses a big personality. She is a happy girl when walking on a leash; she prances along and knows how to sit, too. I imagine there may be more commands stored in that little brain. It's reported she's good with dogs, cats, other animals and children of all ages and sizes. Twinkle is also said to be fully house and kennel trained. If you're looking for a small but very bright star to include in your world you must come meet Twinkle. We are open from 11 am - 4 pm daily. *Please contact the rescue for Twinkle's adoption fee.

Rescue Me ID: 16-02-08-00261Annie (female)

Chihuahua Mix    Age: Young Adult

Health: Spayed

Annie is a two year old Chihuahua. She has a quiet, demure attitude and very much likes laps & cuddle time. It's reported that Annie is good with other dogs, cats and children of all ages. It's also noted she's house and kennel trained. Annie likes going out and about but apparently hasn't been on a leash much. She will put both her little front paws on the lead and just sit down when she decides she's done, which is very quickly. Some time and encouragement should correct this as she's a people pleaser and enjoys treats.     Kerby is a year old Whippet/Jack Russell mix. As you may imagine, he has lots of energy and will need an active home to keep him at his best. He is reported to be good with other dogs and may do best with a playmate to keep him entertained and wear off some of the energy. We've also been told that Kerby is kennel and house trained. Kerby walks OK on a leash but wants to go, go, go and will need some work on his manners in this department. Health: Neutered

Turbo is a 3 year old Miniature Pinscher/Chihuahua mix. This guy has no experience on a leash; he can be coaxed along for a bit but when he's done, he's done (he will plop himself down and will not move). Unfortunately we do not have a lot to report on Turbo as his history is unknown. He has good energy and is interested in play and toys. He is a good lap dog, very snuggly, and extremely generous with his kisses. Health: Neutered

Capicola is a two year old Manchester Terrier mix. This happy fellow has a 'boyish charm' and an engaging personality. Capicola enjoys play (especially tug of war) and can be a bit aggressive and mouthy when his excitement level soars. He is reported to be good around children of all ages but care should be taken with the very young so no damage comes to either party. It's also reported that he's good with other dogs and cats. Jack Russell Mix    Age: Young Adult

Health: Neutered

Blue is a two year old Jack Russell/Rat Terrier mix. He sports a handsome dark silver/grey coat and lots of personality. Blue is fine with other dogs; we don't know how he is around cats and other animals. Apparently he's not so good with children so we're requesting a home with adults or more mature/older children. Blue is just a snuggle bug and knows how to work the angles for love and attention. He is a bit thin & needs some extra calories but that hasn't dulled his zest for life. Blue enjoys getting out and about, has some leash experience, but will benefit from continued work on his manners. If you'd like to meet Blue, visit the rescue ... Chihuahua Mix    Age: Young Adult

Health: Neutered

Ciro is a three year old brindle Chihuahua. The name Ciro is said to be possessed by those with a deep inner desire for a stable, loving family and a need to work with others to be appreciated; we think this sums up our Ciro fairly well. He apparently doesn't get along well with other dogs so will be best as the only canine in your home. Ciro is a bit timid but warms up quickly. He's ok on a leash really, really likes squeaky toys. Chihuahua Mix    Age: Young Adult

Health: Spayed

Belle is a 4 year old Chihuahua mix who sports a lovely curled tail. Belle means beautiful in French and intelligent in English which I believe aptly describes our Belle. She walks ok on a leash and though she was interested in everything going on around her, appeared unconcerned with the other dogs. Belle is reported as being good with older children. She did well in her kennel and it appears she may be house trained. Belle seems easy going, mild tempered with medium energy. They are learning that outside is potty time. That biting is not nice unless it's a squeaky toy :) and other dogs and kids are super fun to play with. They are all extremely brilliant, probably the smartest puppies ever.:) HaHa Best part about these guys they are snuggle bugs. Very cuddly. We have two little girls. Compatibility: Good with Kids and Adults
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Baylee is a 1 1/2 year old Bloodhound/Walker hound mix. She came to us when her time was up at a local shelter so she wouldn't be euthenized. She was an owner surrender and from the looks of it, had at least one litter. She came with absolutely no manners and she has learned the rules of the house very quickly. She loves to use her nose! May possibly work as a search and rescue dog??? She loves to have a job and would do well in an active home. She is crate trained and hasn't had an accident in her foster home. Please remember that hounds are very vocal and she can be quite loud when she gets to baying. If you can't handle the noise ... (Read More)then please don't try to adopt her. Rescue Me ID: 16-02-03-00344Charly (male)

Rottweiler Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Our 4 month old Rottie cross is adorable. He has had his first puppy shot and will get his second next week. He is too little to be neutered but the shelter will help with that if he is adopted before he is 6 months old. If he is with us at 6 months, all his vetting will be completed here. He is in a wonderful foster home learning lots of puppy manners. He is doing very well and is a quick learner. Here's what his sweet foster mom has to say about her little man. Charly is a Rottweiler/black lab mix and they bobbed his tail before he came to us. He's cuter than ever without his tail anyways :) Charly had a different ... (Read More)attitude when I met him. He didn't like me, he was growly, unsure and afraid. Charly is only 4months old and he has completely transformed from the day we met. He didn't trust people and he didn't trust other dogs. He was terrified of my big dogs and he would be interested but everybody was so excited to love the new puppy their excitement scared him and he would run away and try to hide under things. He learned very quickly that no one was going to hurt him ever again and that we all loved him.... all the time. Charly was shy at the vet clinic but in just 12 hrs of me having him he was overcoming his fears and realizing the world isn't all that bad. He still can be caught off guard and he will bark and maybe growl but if you let him know your his friend he will warm right up. Charly is a sassy kid. He likes to rough house and he is a bully to other puppies his size. He plays with the big dogs just fine and won't try to bully or argue with them. He's learning it's not ok and he is doing it less and less. I use a squirt bottle and I immediately but him in the kennel in time out when he gets in a growly match with the other puppy. He doesn't like being scolded so it helps, but for some reason every few days I catch him getting attitude with the other puppy. It's like maybe he was bullied by dogs so he's not letting his guard down. Charly loves loves loves people. Let him trust and see your good and he wants to be in your lap cuddling, sleeping on your face. Charly likes car rides, he will jump right in when you open the door. Charly hasn't had an accident in the house for over a week now. He knows outside is potty time. Charlie knows sit well and he acts like he wants to shake. Charly is a well mannered house dog. Charly is kenneled trained and will whine a minute or 2 and sleep through the night. When he needs out to potty he will let u know. He hasn't had one accident in the kennel. Charly is a nipper and wants to rough house with my hands, he will bite at my feet, anything he can get hold of. His favorite is the toilet paper roll he thinks that's so cool to get hold and string it out the bathroom :) He loves chew toys and he loves rawhides. He will chew up anything he can get in his mouth if you don't watch him and make sure he has something to chew on that's his... Charly is all black with a lil gray white marking on his front. He looks like a teddy bear. I love him. Please call Lorrie 208 339 0130 or email kjfam@dcdi.net for an application (Less)

He will also let you know in the middle of the night if he needs to go potty. When you let him out the kennel he knows where the doggie door is and he will go do his business like a big boy. He hasn't mastered free rein potty training yet but he instantly remembers if you catch him in the act that he should be outside and he will run outside He's just a puppy and he forgets :) Hopper has white tips on all his toes by his nose and on his tail. Hopper will sit for a treat and will give Your neck hugs when u pick him up to cuddle. Please call Lorrie 208 339 0130 or email kjfam@dcdi.net (Less)

Pomeranian    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Low Energy, Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

FOSTER LOCATION: Boise, ID Paco (aged 13) & Pistol (aged 11) are tiny little Pomeranians who weighs in at a whopping 5.5 pounds. These 2 boys have a hearts of gold and a great joy for being with humans. Sadly these 2 and another senior Pomeranian were placed in an Idaho shelter when their human was sent to a nursing home; but Fuzzy Pawz was more than happy to place all 3 in a foster home. Can't stress enough how much these 2 are just happy dogs; whose enjoy purpose to life is to bring joy and love to their humans. They are easy going and just happy to be where you are and do what you are doing. These are 2 of the most well behaved dogs ... (Read More)we have ever had. Paco & Pistol need to be adopted together as Paco is mostly blind, a bit hard of hearing and Pistol is his 'seeing eye dog'. Pistol watches out for him whether they are inside or out and Paco follows him around. They are great with other dogs and is even good with cats! We do require a kid free home though do to their size and Paco's inability to get out of the way of small running children. Both dogs recently had dental cleaning and had to have all of their teeth pulled so they are currently eating soft food but can transition to kibble. Paco has quite a bit of lost hair on his back due to what turned out to be a thyroid issue; most of his hair will grow back now that he is on medication (the meds are very cheap). Other than that both dogs are in great health; though both should be on a high quality food to help their coats recover after eating very low grade food most of their life. These adorable boys are house trained and sort of kennel trained (they will go in there but don't like it much). When it's bed time they run into the bedroom and hop into their beds on the floor and sleep all night. These 2 are lovely boys with nice manners who would make someone a great companions for many years to come.     Dozer is a one year old Lab/Shar-pei and he is super fun. Ask some of the other volunteers and they will tell you he is full of it. :) I am so crazy about this puppy. He's a one in a million. Full of it? You bet. He is so happy, I'm pretty sure he thinks we are all here just to entertain him. He loves to play ball. He is much better at playing keep away than fetch but everything is a game to this little guy. He has a favorite moose and will carry it around for hours. If he forgets it in the snow he runs around desperately looking for his moose friend. He jumps up and down and tries to wrap his little arms around you. He's ... (Read More)a hugger. He loves the snow and bounces like a bunny so he can see where he's going. He's kind of a short kid so he definitely can get buried in the drifts. He has the cutest face and reminds me of a little old man who forgot to put his teeth in. Aunt Dani has nick named him Mr Magoo. :) I think she's right on because he is a star. Dozer is a typical Sharpei. He definitely has an attitude but is very loyal. Once you are his friend, you are his friend forever. Dozer needs an inside home and a secure fenced yard ( he is a hoodini) He would love a family who would be there for the long haul. Dozer is neutered, up on his vaccinations and micro chipped.     Jade is our little sweetheart. She was found wondering, scared, cold and hungry. We have no idea what her story is so we are just gonna start from now and move on. Jade loves attention and is a soft little snuggle bug. Don't think she can't keep up with the big boys though. She and Toby are best friends. They run and roll and sometimes she just totally disappears in the deep snow trying to follow him. Never fear, here she comes bounding out of the drifts like a little deer. Rescue Me ID: 16-01-27-00173Sammy (male)

Maltese Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Very Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

FOSTER LOCATION: Boise, ID Meet Sammy! Sammy is a 9 year old Maltese/Poodle mix who is in need of a loving forever home. Don't let this guy's age fool you! You'd never know he's 9! He's a very active boy who would like to be in a home where he can go on daily walks and continue with his training. He's a smart guy and learns things quickly. He would enjoy another dog to play with, and while he doesn't really know yet how to play nicely, he's learning. He just tries to be dominant, but he gets along very well with the dogs in his foster home as well as the cats. He may try to chase a cat that runs away, but with a firm no this behavior is ... (Read More)easily stopped. Sammy came to Fuzzy Pawz with some pretty bad behaviors; mainly he liked to use his teeth on people to stop them from doing what he didn't like (such as putting on a leash or walking away from him when he wanted attention). This naughty behavior led Sammy to injure his 86 year old original owner's hand and she had to give him up. So while in foster care Sammy has been working on un-learning this behavior; he has been showing a lot of improvement and self-control. Continued training and trust building will be very important. Positive reinforcement only methods are especially important! Because of his behavior issue, he should go to a home with no children. This little guy has a ton of potential with dedicated owners; he simply was allowed to do what he pleased, when he pleased from the time he was a puppy (so 9 years of someone allowing him to be naughty!) This little guy should go to an active home. He loves to play with his people and be very goofy and entertaining; he really is a ton of fun. He would learn some tricks easily and would really enjoy the attention that it brings. When he's been cooped up inside he will pull on the leash, so he should have some leash training as well. He's also house trained and will let you know when he needs to go outside, but he does mark inside if not watched and kept on a regular schedule; again this behavior is one that can and should be worked on. Sammy's not dumb, just used to doing what he wants; he's eager to learn. Sammy's coat and ears can get matted, so he will need to have regular brushing to keep it beautiful. This is just an adorable little boy, whose personality makes him even cuter! If you can offer this boy a loving home with structure and rules please complete an adoption application at http://fuzzypawzrescue.com/adopt/adoption-application-2/ Sammy has been neutered, vaccinated and microchipped.     Dom is an eleven-month-old Dalmatian/Heeler mix who's family gave him up because they were moving. They described him as playful, active, cuddly and friendly. He does well with kids and other dogs and his previous owner said he loved to play with their two-year-old. Dom is still a puppy and he needs a little training. He pulls on the leash, gets in the garbage, chews and other puppy things. If you've ever had a puppy you know about these things. The family really didn't want to give him up but the neighbor insisted. So no chickens for Duke. He antagonizes cats but doesn't hurt them and he's very protective of his children. Rescue Me ID: 16-01-23-00546Zadie (female)

Pug Mix    Age: Adult

Health: Spayed

Zadie the Puggle came from Colorado in February of 2015. Approximately 8 years old, she had a 'rep' for being unsocialized and dog reactive. Due to too much time in a crate, her rear end muscles were severely atrophied and her kneecaps are permanently luxated (but are not painful). She was underweight and sad and confused. All Zadie needed was a chance to bloom in a patient loving environment. Today, Zadie has built up her muscles, and is content to nap on the porch with the other dogs, help protect the property, join in the squirrel patrol, and help 'Mom' or 'Dad' with any and all chores. She adores children, but would do best with children ... (Read More)older than 5. She still has some separation anxiety, so being with other dogs helps. From all out panic attacks in her crate in February to happily hopping into her crate for meals and 'night-nights' now, she has come a LONG way! Zadie's perfect life would be with someone who is home most of the time, has a secure yard for her to play and nap in, and a mellow companion dog or two for her to hang out with. Zadie requires a solid routine and consistent love and she will reward you with her special devotion and kooky/adorable friendship. Bonus - she grins when she is trying to be extra charming!     Gabe is an older lab mix that came from another rescue that was having a hard time finding him a home. He has lived in rescue his whole life (7-8 years) because he is black and has been overlooked. He hasn't had much outside socialization so it is a scary world for him. Gabe is a dog that just want loves, belly rubs, car rides, and to stay by your side all day if you'll let him. He doesn't care too much for cats but will put up with them. Overall he's very loyal.     Meet Marty! Marty is a lovable, one year young Chihuahua/Jack Russell mix. He is a very good boy who is full of love and has a happy heart. He is a lot of fun, we nicknamed him Marty the party animal because he likes to be the center of attention and he always wants to play. He did fine with visiting dogs at our home; he wanted to play with them. He probably will not do well with cats, he wanted to go after one that he saw at the shelter. He sleeps quietly in his crate at night and has done well with being housebroken. He needs to be kept indoors with the family as he gets cold easily and really likes human company. Has graduated from 'Sit Means Sit' obedience training. Very mindful and very cuddly with those close to him. Hates gun shots and thunderstorms.     Meet Miley & Macie Miley and Macie are 8 and 9 year old puggle sisters who have been very loved and adored all their lives. Their first family was forced to give them up after their daughter became very allergic to them - it was heartbreaking for Miley, Macie, and their first family. These two ladies are a bonded pair and will need to be adopted together. They would love to be adopted by a family who will be able to help them heal their broken hearts and give them the individual attention and love they deserve. Miley and Macie are not only adorable, but are angels. Their foster mom says they are fantastic members of the family. These girls ... (Read More)are housetrained and know how to use the doggy door. Miley loves to go for car rides, new social situations, and walks - and loves to compete with her sister Macie for loves from people. Macie is the deep thinker, worrier, and mothering one. She has beautiful, big expressive eyes. When you put Macie on the bed she'll unmake it and rearrange all the pillows and make a nest she's quite proud of - it's one of the few times she'll play. When you pet Macie she'll run away out of arms reach and then briefly run back for another fast pet. She's totally into eye contact and has a really good heart. These girls are quiet, calm, and low maintenance. Until feeding time that is. Like all puggles, these girls LOOOVE to eat (but really, don't we all?!). They won't climb on the furniture to beg, unless you have popcorn which is their personal favorite. The adoption fee for Miley and Macie is $250. Pug    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Low Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Deaf

Meet Bacchus Bacchus is a sweet, lovable senior pug who came to Pug Pals after his owner surrendered him because he was old. He's approximately 12-14 years old and still has a lot of love left to share. He loves to be close to his people and when he can't be next to you he prefers to be within eyesight. He enjoys car rides and even loves visiting the vet. When he visits the vet he expects everyone to pet him. Bacchus also LOVES tummy rubs. In fact, he'd love nothing more than to have his tummy rubbed all day long that would be just fine with him. Bacchus and his foster mom have a morning routine where she rubs his tummy for 10-15 minutes and ... (Read More)he plays with her by soft-mouthing her hand. Don't worry, this mellow dude has never bitten anyone and doesn't even bark. When he first came to Pug Pals he was averse to being held and touched, but with some love and kindness he's come around. He still prefers not to be held too often, but enjoys snuggling up next to his people until it's time to sleep. Then he needs his space at the foot of the bed. He also does fine with other dogs, as long as they respect his need for space. This cute guy is housebroken, but sometimes needs reminding when the weather is bad that he has to do his business outside. When he goes outside he likes to wander around and 'patrol the yard' for about 10-15 minutes. Bacchus had a cancerous mass removed from his leg after coming to Pug Pals. He is completely deaf and suffers from arthritis and thyroid issues; both are managed by medication. Because of his arthritis he needs to be lifted on and off furniture. He also has some vision problem in one eye from an injury when he was young - but it doesn't slow him down. Bacchus would love nothing more than a family who can love him and let him love them. His adoption fee is $100. If you would like to adopt him please complete the adoption application on PugPals.org http://pugpals.org/forms/adoption-application/ (Less)

Maggie is an 8-year-old purebred Border Collie. She is a very active, smart girl who loves to play fetch. Maggie is very high energy and is good with most dogs, HOWEVER she is highly food motivated and has shown food aggression toward other animals (dogs and cats). Her food aggression has never been directed toward humans. She is in need of a home due to her current family's inability to give her the time and training she needs. She is in need of daily exercise and play. She would make an excellent work dog if she were given the proper training. Maggie is also missing her right eye; she had it removed over five years ago after injuring it ... (Read More)beyond repair. This does not slow her down at all! She can still catch a ball or treats with ease. Maggie is suffering in her current home because she is very bored and due to her owner's recently diagnosed RA doesn't get the exercise and play time that she desperately needs. She would probably do well in a home with no other animals, but may like younger dog companions as well to complement her playfulness. It is important to note that Maggie MUST be fed separately from other animals due to food aggression. Otherwise, she is a smart, sweet dog who wants nothing more than to play fetch all day with someone who will love and care for her. (Less)

Thank goodness these folks stepped up to help Rebel. He has been neutered, is up on his vaccinations and micro chipped. He would love to have an inside home. He would also love room to run and play in a safe fenced yard. Please call Lorrie 208 339 0130 or email kjfam@dcdi.net for an application. We will put you in touch with his foster family so you can hear more wonderful things about this sweet boy. Make this boy's dreams come true and give him a master of his own. Rebel has now out lived his past two owners. It is believed that he has not had much training in his past 4 years. We know he was left of on a chain at least half ... (Read More)of his life. When his elderly master passed away he moved to the city and there it was evident he had no training and was not allowed to stay. His current foster family was told he was going to be taken back to farm and let the elements determine his fate. As soon as they heard about that they asked if he could stay just a few more days so plans could be made to foster this cute boy. When he first came he did not even know how to 'play dog' with his foster sister. He was afraid of car rides and had no dog educate manners. Now he understands he will get food daily. He is potty trained as long as we let him out often and loves to 'play dog' with his foster sister. He finds the cat fascinating but can not resist the temptation to run after him and nip him if he can. (He most likely will not do well with cats.) He will be your watch dog and give you a warning if he hears any new sounds around and be the happiest boy to great you when you come home from work and other outings. We have come a long way with Rebel. He will now go on car rides and likes to look out the window. He will sit at command and has improved on jumping up (still working on this). Unless you have leather shoes he has stopped his chewing, so just keep them out of his reach. He's eager and ready to please his new forever master. While we currently have him in a foster home with a young toddler we think that a home with older kids would be best. He has tender spots we do not touch and we if we do he lets us know he would rather us not, such as his back end and feet. He is a Healer or at least 90% Healer and acts like one!     FOSTER LOCATION: Meridian, ID Meet Kai the Protector! She will protect you from the cold by cuddling on the couch and in bed. She will protect you from the hair dryer-but only if you need protection! She will 'leave it' if you ask her to. The villain vacuum cleaner is also a sworn enemy, but she will 'go lay down' when asked. This just proves that Kai is willing and able to please! She has some great manners in place including sit, stay, lay down, leave it, etc. She does need some work on her leash skills - she is just so excited to explore the great outdoors! With a wiggle and a grin Kai has settled perfectly into her Fuzzy Pawz Rescue ... (Read More)foster home. Kai is a slender 1 year old Chocolate Lab/Pit mix who is full of wiggles and love. She is a wonderful greeter and will bring you a toy and weave in and out of your legs while wiggling like crazy (Watch out for that tail, though)! She understands which toys are dog toys and digs in enthusiastically to the toy basket. She plays tug-o-war like a champ but will go lay down with a bone or chew toy for some quiet time. She also enjoys chewing on plastic bottles. Kai gets along great with other dogs, but is a bit too much for the older dog of the house. He has told her more than once to leave him alone...and it only took her a few days to understand that he really doesn't want to play. She would do great with a younger dog and has a 2 year old boxer/Pit mix to play with in her foster home and they do great together. Because of her high energy level, kids older than 6 would be recommended as she could knock them down. Kai is house-trained and will stand at the back door to go out. It has been reported that she has some separation anxiety, so some kennel training would be great for when she needs to be left alone. Her foster mom works from home so we haven't seen this issue. Kai is an all-around great dog who aims to please. She listens well and loves her people. If you feel you can offer sweet, fun-loving Kai the forever loving home that she deserves please simply fill out an adoption application with Fuzzy Pawz Rescue at http://fuzzypawzrescue.com/adopt/adoption-application-2/ Kai is spayed, vaccinated and micro-chipped. Miniature Pinscher Mix    Age: Puppy

Health: Neutered

Iggy is a handsome burnished chocolate two year old neutered male Miniature Pinscher/ Dachshund mix. He comes with a lot of personality. Iggy likes to cuddle and give loves but can be independent and is certainly not clingy. He enjoys getting out for walks and likes to get all dressed up in a cute sweater. He's been observed as going well in his kennel but it's not reported if he's fully house trained. Iggy can be somewhat toy & food possessive and known to become hyper aroused so we recommend an adult household or one with only older children. Iggy loves squeaky toys and play interaction so will make a great companion for someone looking ... (Read More)for more than just a lap dog.     Nia is such a good girl in many ways! She is housebroken, knows 'sit', loves to play and have her belly rubbed :) She is good with all adults, and the people who let her run off had a child, and I never heard of a problem. She has never exhibited any aggressive behavior with us at all, and has learned to go on a leash. However, she wants to chase cats and recently killed a skunk that had wandered into our backyard at night, so she needs a home with no proximity to cats and/or other small animals. She plays with my Golden Retriever male but wants to play pretty rough, and has demonstrated some aggression towards him when it comes to treats and ... I really like her, but we have cats that are not used to dogs who want to chase them, and they were here first. She could be a GREAT DOG for the right person! (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-07-31-00479Loki (male)

Saint Bernard Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION! Apply to adopt at www.saintrescue.org. Loki's foster mom has the following to say about our beautiful boy: Loki is 150 pounds of love, sweetness, big head, huge jowls, and gigantic feet with just a little bit of slobber thrown in....just to keep you on your toes! We're told he's 5 years old, but he still has the playful attitude and energy of a puppy....just in very short bursts. Once he gets comfortable with you and his surroundings his personality really starts to shine through. He will talk back to you if you're asking him to do something he's not totally in agreement with (like an obstinate teenager!)But, he ... (Read More)quickly complies if he knows you mean what you're saying. He learns quickly, and once he knows the rules of the house and the expected behaviors he will settle down and becomes a very well behaved gentleman! Because he can be quite rambunctious and really has no idea of exactly how big he is, he may be a bit too much around young children. He likes to greet everyone with such enthusiastic exuberance that he might accidentally hurt someone or something without meaning to. We've been working on leash training with him and he's starting to get the hang of it. He can pull quite hard but with a stern correction he falls back into a heel. Every walk has gotten better and better with him. He loves to have attention and when you start to pet him he drops to the floor (hard!) and rolls onto his back so that you can rub his belly and chest. He LOVES this! This is the best position to get him into in order to moosh all over those great big jowls of his as well and in response to this he will wrap those great big paws of his around your shoulders in a giant bear hug! He absolutely has to be where the humans are whether it's lying at your feet while you watch TV, sleeping next to the bed at night or off to the side while you eat dinner, he just needs to know you're there. Loki does not beg for food at the table, but instead keeps a polite distance away, lying on the floor until you're finished, or until you invite him to come over. Loki is great with treats and can take them gently from your hand, catch them in mid-air or even hold them on his paw until commanded to go ahead and take it! He is also quite polite at dinner time, sitting and waiting for his bowl to be placed down and then only going after the food when given permission. Loki and Ozzy have formed a kinship and share their toys nicely and will chase each through the house playing a game of doggie-tag! Loki is NOT an outdoor dog....believe it or not! He'd much rather be inside wherever his human is. When he does go outside it's strictly to do his business and then he quickly wants to come back in, and is not afraid to make this well known! Haha! Loki can be a lot of dog to handle, but with consistency in house rules, and a firm hand to teach him what's right and what's not, he is turning into an excellent companion! Please do take note that Loki was surrendered to us for a bite. I don't know the exact situation surrounding it, and trust me I don't take bites lightly, however, Loki is a really good boy who listens very well. As with most dogs, new visitors should be introduced properly. Another note...Loki lived with his original owners for 4 years without issue, and was only with this other family for 3 months, but they had visitors all day long in and out. (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Dog in Idaho
Dogs can make good pets in Idaho if they match your IifestyIe. Dogs have a reputation for being "man's best friend" for excellent reasons. Dogs are wonderful companions. Many breeds, in addition to being affectionate, devoted members of the family, are useful working dogs and guardians. Most dogs form tight bonds with their humans, and need to be cared for like the valuable family members they are. But sadly, some owners do not live up to the responsibility and involvement it takes to properly care for a dog throughout its life. Dogs can become the victims of neglect or active abuse. Some dogs receive tender, attentive care from their owners, but no longer have a home after their owner passes away or experiences a major life event that makes him unable to keep his dog. There are many more dogs than there are homes for dogs, and dogs that are not spayed or neutered can accidentally produce large numbers of puppies, exacerbating overpopulation. For this reason, three to four million dogs, many of them perfectly healthy and wonderful animals, are euthanized in the U.S. each year.

Many people get excited about owning a new dog, decide to get a puppy, and then pick one out at a pet shop or visit a breeder with a new litter. However, there are so many wonderful, friendly dogs in need of adoption, including puppies and purebreds. Some of these dogs might even be a better fit for a family than a new puppy; for instance, some adult dogs in need of adoption are already housebroken and obedience trained. Adoption is typically much less expensive than purchasing a dog. People who adopt dogs find the experience extremely rewarding, bond very closely with their dogs, and have the added satisfaction of knowing that one less animal has to be euthanized. If your family is ready for a canine companion, please consider adopting a dog!
