Dutch Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

FOSTER LOCATION: Boise, ID Bella is a 4 year old Dutch Shepherd/Border Collie whose family sadly was no longer able to care for her so Fuzzy Pawz stepped up to find her a new home. This gorgeous girl has an amazing soft and silky brindle colored coat and one terrific smile. She loves toys, walks, car rides and affection. She loves to be around her humans and be included in the family. She loves older kids and adults; no kids under 12 please. While Bella is amazing with people she is not great with other animals. She is a herding breed with a high prey drive so no cats or other small animals in her new home please. Bella is pretty ... (Read More)choosy about the other dogs she will tolerate in her space so she'd be best as the ONLY animal in the home. True to her breeds, she is very smart and knows several basic commands. Bella will need daily exercise and would to go hiking, running, whatever with you. She will also need regular brushing to keep her coat tangle free. Bella is a nice medium size at 60 pounds, housetrained, spayed and UTD on her vaccines. Rescue Me ID: 18-06-18-00310Lois (female)

Chihuahua    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Very Low Energy, Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

FOSTER LOCATION: Boise ID Lois is an 8-10 year old black Chihuahua (4.5 lbs) who came to Fuzzy Pawz after she was removed from a hoarding situation by IHS this past spring. She and the other dogs that were removed needed lots of medical attention, so she came to foster care to recover. Lois had to have most of her teeth removed and has since healed from surgery to also alleviate the symptoms of a sinus infection. Her ears were also infected and she was pretty skinny. Her back legs are crooked but they don't cause her pain and she gets around alright. Fast forward about 5 weeks and she is REALLY starting to feel much better! Now that Lois' ... (Read More)health issues have been addressed, her foster family has been able to see her true personality and what an absolute joy she is! Lois gets along with all other dogs and cats and is generally a pretty mellow dog. She enjoys her naps, either on your lap or in the warm sun. She also REALLY enjoys meal time. Wet food is her only option now that most of her teeth are gone, but she gets very excited and animated when it's time to eat. Recently Lois has begun to interact with and play with the other dogs in her foster home, which makes us think she will do best in a home with at least one other dog. Lois is so easy going that she travels in the car well, and does fine in groups of people. She is really snuggly and affectionate, and even will pull your hand towardsher if she wants more attention. We haven't had her around kids, but she would probably do well with kids that respected her and were gentle. She is crate trained and mostly potty trained (we think she's never been potty trained in her life so she will need some reinforcement). Lois will do well in many homes, but she needs a home that understands and can accommodate her physical needs (wet food, potty training, and no extensive walks). She will reward you with curling up on your lap and a wiggly butt when you return home. If that is you just fill out an application: http://fuzzypawzrescue.com/adopt/adoption-application-2/ and we'll get back to you. Rescue Me ID: 18-06-18-00307Alice (female)

Chihuahua    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Low Energy, Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

FOSTER LOCATION: Boise, ID Alice is the sweetest dog who is looking to ride out her golden years with a loving committed family who will be her long awaited forever home/family. At only 8 years old this adorable girl has had a lot of people fail her but Fuzzy Pawz is committed to finding her the perfect family who will give her their all. She may be 8 years old but you would never know it given how spry, (but not hyper,) she is. She is a, 'young 8-year-old dog,' who is very well behaved, stable, and has the sweetest disposition. You can tell she has been in a family setting. She loves being pet and goes belly up for tummy rubs. She is ... (Read More)honestly so sweet and easy. Alice would be best placed in a home where she can be a vital part of the family. A family with older kids is preferable as young kids could hurt her and stress her out due to her small size. She needs a family who will allow her to be a lap dog. She does however, love going on walks and for rides in the car. Good with dogs and would enjoy another little buddy to hang out with; we are unsure of cats but best guess she would be more than fine. Alice suffers from allergies and needs people who are committed to her care, specifically keeping up on her allergy medication and any specialty food to keep her allergies and scratching at bay. She is currently on Apoquel for her allergies which is about $2/day but trust us this girl is worth it! Alice is truly the sweetest little gal and will make a devoted family so happy and bring tons of joy to them. If you are looking for the next big love in your life you just fill out an application: http://fuzzypawzrescue.com/adopt/adoption-application-2/ and we'll get back to you. Rescue Me ID: 18-06-12-00227Chiquita (female)

Fox Terrier    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

FOSTER LOCATION: Boise, ID Sweet little Chiquita is a 5 year old Toy Fox terrier who came back to Fuzzy Pawz after her owner who adopted her from us 18 months ago could no longer properly care for her due to his health problems. When she originally came to Fuzzy Pawz from a local shelter she required hip surgery on her back right hip which was successful but she still has a tendency to favor that side and holds her right rear leg up at times. But otherwise she runs and plays and even jumps with no problems, holding her leg up is a result of habit and not due to any lingering problems. All of her vaccinations have been updated. Chiquita ... (Read More)can be a little shy and timid when she first meets people but is getting better. She does bond quickly with a person once she picks someone and does not like to let that person get our of her sight. She comes when called and knows basic commands but they need to be reinforced as she is a little rusty on them. Walking her is a dream as she walks right beside you and you almost forget that you are walking her except for the leash you are holding. She is fine with kids, cats and other dogs. Her foster home has dogs and she is fine with them but does show signs of jealousy at times when she is sitting in a lap and one of the other dogs' approaches. She plays well with the smaller dog in her foster home so a home with another small dog would work well once they are introduced and adjust to each other. However she is not as comfortable with larger dogs. Chiquita would also be fine as an only dog as she was in her former home as long as she gets some play time and walks to keep her active and content. She is crate trained and house trained but if given the choice would prefer to sleep in the bed with her owner. She can even multi task as she has been seen scratching behind her ear with a back leg while licking her front paws clean all at the same time. This little girl is smart as a whip, loyal and very alert and aware of her surroundings and deserves a loving forever home. If you are looking for a little girl to keep you company for many years to come Chiquita is your girl; just fill out an application: http://fuzzypawzrescue.com/adopt/adoption-application-2/ and we'll get back to you.     Who would of known when a few volunteers got together to help another volunteer, they would all be out in a field by the freeway saving a boxer. Living in a drain pipe, she was extremely skinny, cold, and terrified. In talking with others in the area, we learned that she had been living out there quite awhile and nobody had been able to get close to her. Determined she was not going to spend another night out there, they weren't giving up. Once caught, she just lay in our volunteers arms shaking, too scared to move. She was wearing a collar and part of a leash that was torn but no id tags or microchip. We reported her to the shelter, ... (Read More)hoping somebody had filed a lost report, posted on facebook pages and waited.... nobody came to claim her. A few days after having her she wouldn't eat and started vomiting. We cannot imagine how hungry she had to be to eat a trash bag. There is not a mean bone in her body--she is the sweetest girl ever but so fearful she would hide in the house. With lots of love and patience from her foster family and her new 4-legged foster brother helping show her the way, Karma has slowly started coming out of her shell. She is learning how to play and will approach when called. No longer hides from you. She is giving kisses and now has a favorite toy. She is fantastic with kids and has a gentle soul. Karma needs her forever home, a quieter home with a family that can help her continue all the progress she has made, She will in return be the most loving and devoted friend. American Staffordshire Terrier Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults

Health: Neutered

Louie is energetic and strong. He loves to cuddle and be close to his person, but also loves to play hard. He is okay with some other dogs, but he plays very aggresively with dogs, and it's too much for some. He has no health issuez. He's well trained, housebroken, doesn't chew things up or get into food, but he's sometimes a little stubborn. He always obeys if I'm stern about it. I'm losing my house, and cannot keep him. I need an adoption by 6/15 to avoid him going to the local shelter where he could be euthanized if they feel he doesn't get along with other dogs.

Chihuahua Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Albee is finally ready to find his forever home! He was rescued back in February with 12 other dogs who were living outside having to fend for themselves. Luckily BHR was able to help and give them a better life. A couple weeks in living with his foster home, Albee was so excited to see his foster dad when arriving home that he bailed off his foster mom's lap as she opened her pickup door. Unaware of how high he jumped from, Albee broke a front leg when he landed. He had orthopedic surgery and a plate was placed to help the bone heal. Few weeks into recovery, the stainless steel plate broke! Back into surgery Albee went to have a new plate ... (Read More)placed and was on cage rest for 6 weeks. He has been released from cage rest and is doing great! He acts like he never broke a leg, which isn't the greatest thing because he thinks he can jump off of anything he wants which unfortunately isn't the case, his adoptive family will have take caution of the height he jumps.. that leg is now weaker even if he doesn't show it! If the family has kids, older and respectful kids is preferred do to his injury. Albee is the biggest social butterfly. Everyone and animal is his friend which means he has no idea what a space bubble means! So if there are other animals in the home, they have to be okay with sharing their space. He is crate and leash trained but will have the occasional accident in the house. We are still working on being left alone, he isn't a fan of that. Albee's favorite things to do are to play with squeeky toys, sleep under the covers in bed and eat peanut butter.. this dog addicted to peanut butter. Albee is full of personality. He most likely is a deer legged Chihuahua mix, he has long legs and around a year old(10lbs). If Albee sounds like the perfect fit to the family.     Sage is an awesome girl who has been in foster care for several months and is READY for her forever home. It's taken her time because she came in pregnant and raised her three babies. She loves attention and will even fetch if that means she gets loves and praise. She is potty trained and uses a doggy door.     FOSTER LOCATION: Boise, ID Sokka is a 9 year old Newfoundland/Border Collie mix who came to Fuzzy Pawz Rescue when his family lost their home. This boy is so sweet, loving and gentle; he has been a dream dog while in our care but now it's time to find him a new home of his very own. This handsome lug is great with people and good with kids over 5; he's spent his life being the best buddy to his humans. He has amazing house manners and is easy to live with. We do know that he will need a cat free home and think he would do better as either the only dog or with another dog that is 40 pounds or over. Sokka is almost 90 pounds - well a little lighter at the moment since he has been shaved; so he need another dog that can play with him. He is house trained, crate trained and knows a few basics; he is pretty quiet though he will once in a while bark at other dogs on the other side of the fence. Sokka hasn't quite mastered walking on a leash. He doesn't pull your arm off just a curious sniffer, and walks in front of you, and all around you to explore. Sokka does have an allergy to beef and is currently on a food that doesn't contain any and is doing great. Rescue Me ID: 18-04-17-00169Marie (female)

Lab Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: High Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

FOSTER LOCATION: Kuna, ID Marie is a two-year-old Lab/Pit mix who first arrived in Idaho last October as part of a transfer of dogs to the Idaho Humane Society from a shelter in Texas. She was adopted in January by a wonderful man who understood Marie was a little nervous and insecure and tried very hard to give her time and space to become familiar with and comfortable in his home. Unfortunately, despite two months of his best efforts, Marie remained afraid of her new guardian, so he contacted Fuzzy Pawz for help in finding her a forever home where she could thrive. While she's been in foster, Marie has taught us several things about ... (Read More)herself. First, she gets A LOT of confidence and comfort from having other dogs around, so any potential adopters must have at least one other confident, engaging dog. (Marie has been living with four dogs of varying sizes and energy levels, and honestly seems to love every dog she meets!) Marie's former guardian didn't have other pets and found it very difficult to take Marie on walks or generally leave the house, but if there's another dog there she is much more willing to explore and cooperate. Second, Marie is more comfortable with women - she bonded to her current foster mom fast and hard. For this reason, potential adopters must have at least one adult female in the house - this is sort of a security blanket for Marie. Third, Marie badly wants to trust and love at least some men. While she never grew acclimated to her prior guardian, she did like his father, and in her current foster home Marie has shown strong interest in the adult male. Potential adopters need to understand that Marie will likely not be as initially trusting of or confident with men, and that it could take many months before she fully 'accepts' a new man in her life. They need to be willing to be patient, go at Marie's pace, and not become frustrated or take it personally if Marie exhibits behavior such as barking at them. Although Marie's activity level was non-stop her first few days in foster, once she got comfortable she calmed down and now has a deep appreciation for naps and snuggles on the couch with her foster mom and foster brother pups (and sometimes foster dad too!). However, Marie also still has plenty of puppy in her and enjoys playing with other dogs outside, wrestling on the couch, and checking out toys! Marie is potty trained and crate trained - using a crate in her forever home will be important, as it gives Marie a safe place to which she can retreat if she's feeling uncomfortable or overwhelmed. In her foster home, Marie has been sleeping in her crate every night but hasn't chosen to hang out there otherwise. She also tolerates it well if she needs to be left for a few hours, but in her prior home she did begin chewing on the crate so she shouldn't be left for extended periods or put in the crate without first having an opportunity to burn off some energy. Marie has learned 'sit' and has shown she is a fast learner who's eager to please. She hasn't had much experience going out on walks - in her prior home walks were never successful and frequently required 'rescue' from a neighbor with a dog - walks with a trusted human and a dog buddy will be important for Marie as she learns to navigate the world. If you are looking for a new amazing friend and you can give her a bit of time, patience and an infinite amount of love then Marie is your girl. We'd love to talk to you about her just fill out an application: http://fuzzypawzrescue.com/adopt/adoption-application-2/ Marie is spayed, vaccinated and microchipped Marie's adoption fee is $75 (Less)

Chihuahua Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

FOSTER LOCATION: Boise, ID Bindy is a super smart, cute little pup with a lot of potential. Unfortunately she had some rough times early on and/or was mistreated which has made her timid of people. After a month at her Fuzzy Pawz foster home, Bindy has come a long way. However, she is still leery when her foster mom (or others) approach her and prefers to initiate contact on her own terms. Bindy does love to cuddle and seems to enjoy affection once she calms down and realizes she is safe; really once you have your hand on her she is the biggest cuddle bug. The best thing for Bindy now is to find her forever home so she can start to build ... (Read More)long-term trust and know she is a loved member of the family at only about 2 year old she has lots of time to learn to trust. Bindy's forever family should be prepared to be very patient and consistent, especially with training. Bindy is not treat motivated, and she's generally scared of humans. Thus training could be challenging and may require creative techniques and/or professional assistance (Fuzzy Pawz can hook you up with their positive rewards trainer). Bindy does love to play with other pups and has learned a lot from mimicking and following her foster sister. We will require that Bindy's new home have another confident, active and playful pup. She loves to wrestle with the other dogs in the home, and they spend most of their days chasing each other, going in and out and in and out of the dog door, and patrolling the yard for trespassing squirrels. As noted earlier, Bindy is quite smart. When she is scared or nervous, Bindy's instinct is flee, and she's capable of climbing and maneuvering impressive escapes. Bindy's forever home will need a very secure yard, and she'll need to be closely supervised (and on leash) until she settles in. She will need a kid free and cat free home. Despite the cautionary tales, Bindy can be quite sweet, and it's heartwarming to see her start to come out of her shell. She is cute as can be and will be a wonderful companion once she gets past her fear. It's just a matter of finding the right fit! Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)

FOSTER LOCATION: Boise, ID Lenny is a 2 year old Chihuahua/Basenji mix who has quite a year. Last spring, Lenny was removed from a hoarding home with a few dozen other dogs. He was relatively socialized so he was adopted soon after. Unfortunately, he was returned this past winter. Then, the Humane Society realized he needed surgery on his knees, and some time to resocialize. So, he was placed in foster care with Fuzzy Pawz so he could recover, and now he is ready to find his forever home! Lenny is quite active, especially now that his knees feel so much better! Once he becomes comfortable where he is, he is a goofy and sweet boy who just ... (Read More)wants to live his best life. He enjoys playing and wrestling with his foster siblings, and has been known to chase a squirrel running along the fence from time to time. He is learning how fun toys can be too! Soft toys are his favorite. He is totally potty trained and loves his crate. He happily stays in his crate while his foster mom is gone from the house, as long as he can see his friends. While he doesn't know any commands, he is eager to please and his foster mom has begun working on it with him. Given Lenny's history, it's not surprising he has some quirks. Lenny is scared of new things and hasn't had much experience going out on walks. The outside world can be overwhelming for him.l and he gets spooked easily. He will need continued training in baby steps to make him more comfortable with new things. Barking is Lenny's default response when he's scared, so his new home will need to understand his responses. Lenny is also much more afraid of men, than women, so he cannot go to a home with only men in the house. Lenny's ideal home would be one with at least one woman, but also one that has plenty of structure and consistency, as he thrives when things are predictable. He also MUST go to a home with another playful and confident dog so he can continue building his confidence. He is fine with cats, but children under 12 would scare him, so we won't adopt to a home with younger kids. If you think you can give Lenny the love, structure, and specialized training he needs, fill out an application today!     Update Everyone deserves a second chance and Chevy has proven that he can be such a good boy. Aunt Dani decided our Chevy had earned an adventure. His own special day out on the town. First off they stopped at the vets office because all the girls make a big fuss over him and he gets so tickled. Then away they went for a drive and a special outing. He rode perfectly in the car and was a little gentleman at their picnic in the park. They sat in the grass and shared mozzarella sticks and Chicken tenders. Dani said he couldn't have been a nicer companion. We sure do love this kid. Chevy is in need of some training, ... (Read More)some special attention and lots of tlc. He has been passed around from home to home and never the kind of home he needed. He has spent too much time alone. Too much time on a chain and not enough interaction. This little man is a work in progress. He is coming along very well. We are hoping to change his life forever. He loves his yard and his toys, especially balls. Food is a super important thing in his life. He comes running when he's called in for dinner. He is better with women. Takes him awhile to warm up to men but if you have a snack, especially jerky he will be your best friend. He is a bit rambunctious so would not be a good fit for small children. Animal ID: 2037Crash (male)

Rat Terrier Mix    Age: Adult

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

My name is Crash. I'm a Terrier mix, who's around 3 years old and about 15 lbs. I wound up in a shelter with a leg that healed in an odd way after it had been broken. Today I have a metal plate inside my leg that helps me walk (and look) look like a normal dog. While there's a tiny chance that it may need further attention someday and I'll need to be careful with it, right now it helps me run like the wind. That's something I love to do in the big fenced yard of my foster home, and it's something I hope I'll get to do with you...in my forever home. Maybe because of my tough start in life, I grew up to be a gentle, sensitive boy. I can get ... (Read More)scared by yelling or loud noises, so I hope your home is quiet and doesn't have little kids. Honestly, I can be pretty scared about most anything, but once I know I can trust you, you'll be my rock and I'll have lots of kisses for you. In fact, I hope you'll be home with me most of the time because I don't like to be left alone and it makes me cry. I do love other dogs after I get to know them, especially if they are my size. Car rides and walks on a leash are OK, but let's not venture too far from home. I enjoy routines like regular times for treats and meals; I love to eat. I'm pretty good about letting my foster parents know when I need to go out, but if I get scared, I may make a mistake. In the evening, it's nice to curl up on the sofa next to my foster parents. At bedtime, I sleep in a crate, but if you'd like me to sleep in bed with you, I'd be happy to join you. Basically I'm just a super sweet guy, who can't imagine anything finer than crashin' at your place for the rest of his life. See more pictures of me with my 'new' leg and see how I run and play at http://imageevent.com/newrattitude/crash. ------------------------------------------------------ IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN ADOPTING CRASH, please go to new Rattitude's website at http://www.NewRattitude.org/adopt.htm, where there is detailed information and a link to our adoption application. Rescue Me ID: 18-03-19-00238Roscoe (male)

Border Collie Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Roscoe is a very sweet dog with lots of personality. We have had him since he was 12 weeks old and he has traveled all over with us. It breaks our hearts to have to look for a new home for him, but unfortunately he has not adapted well to a baby being in the home. After a year of trying everything we can think of, he is still very jealous and becomes very anxious/growly around her. Nothing has happened, but it is a very stressful situation that hasn't improved over time. Roscoe very much carries the Border Collie traits. He is very sweet, loyal, smart, and has lots of energy. He knows quite a few commands, does well off leash, and learns ... (Read More)quickly; he is highly food motivated. He is used to getting out to exercise twice a day (walks, fetch, hikes, etc.). He is not a dog you can just take to the dog park and let run around or just stick in the back yard. He is smart and will get bored easily. I would recommend an experienced dog owner as border collies are energetic and have their quirks. In general, Roscoe keeps to himself when other dogs are around and likes to be left alone. He likes some dogs and doesn't like others and he makes that pretty easy to tell. He is not a fan of puppies or certain dog breeds (can be explained further if interested). He will let other dogs know if he doesn't want them in his space. He would do best in a single dog home (though not necessary as he gets along great with some dogs), without small children, and someone willing to meet his exercise needs. It is really hard to write this and think he will no longer be a part of our family as he has been for so long. We will want to meet in person for a greeting/screening with him and any other dogs. He has all needed supplies/toys/food.Roscoe is neutered and up to date on his shots, though he is due again soon. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 18-03-06-00307Vinny (male)

Miniature Pinscher    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Low Energy, Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Seizures

[Read About Natural Seizure Care] FOSTER LOCATION: Meridian ID Vinny is a 7 year old Miniature Pinscher (birthday- 11/1/2010). He is a very sweet and mellow dog that thrives on routine. He came to Fuzzy Pawz Rescue when his family could no longer care for him. This handsome boy is not your typical Min Pin; he is a cute, quirky dog but fairly low energy; he is sweet and very mellow. He does not like loud, chaotic situations and gets easy overwhelmed. He'd do best in a home with no kids or kids over 12. He is good with other dogs and has lived with another Min Pin but would prefer to have another dog that has a calm energy like his own. He loves food, vacuuming up ... (Read More)crumbs on the floor, snuggling under a blanket, and belly and ear rubs. Vinny does enjoy short walks but usually very short. While he does enjoy snuggles, he often enjoys the quiet comfort of his kennel for a quick nap. Vinny is house trained and kennel trained. He knows very basic commands such as 'kennel' and 'potty outside'. He is good on a leash. Vinny has epilepsy and is currently on two different medicines given twice a day (morning and night) to help control the seizures. While his seizures are controlled this does not mean he doesn't have any. He usually has at least 1 seizure a month, and sometimes in clusters (1-2 seizures a day for a few days in a row). He has had epilepsy since he was 6 months old and his vet says he will always have it; but controlled it is not that big of a deal. His seizures typically involve him involuntarily going potty and shaking and foaming at the mouth. They typically happen at night when he is sleeping and has always slept in his kennel for this reason- plus he loves is kennel! New owners do need to be aware of the cleanup that is involved with Vinny's seizures. Vinny also needs his medicine levels checked (through blood draws) on an annual basis. He also does not have the best oral hygiene and needs regular teeth cleanings. Despite Vinny's epilepsy, he is a healthy, sweet dog with a lot of love to give! If you think you are the one to offer him a life of luxury please complete an adoption application today: http://fuzzypawzrescue.com/adopt/adoption-application-2/ Vinny has been neutered, vaccinated. Rescue Me ID: 18-03-06-00295McKenzy (female)

Boston Terrier Mix    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

FOSTER LOCATION: Boise, ID McKenzy is a 10 year old Boston/Beagle mix who came to us because she was not doing well in a shelter environment. We were glad to take her in, and her foster family has quickly grown attached to her sweet demeanor and easy going attitude. Don't let her age fool you, this is a busy little gal that will do best in an active environment. McKenzy bonds easily and quickly with people; she just wiggles with joy whenever she sees a human. She was obviously much loved and very spoiled at some point, as she wants to be on furniture and sleep under the covers. McKenzy is house trained and knows how to let you know she ... (Read More)needs to go outside. We are told that she is a counter surfer, and can jump on the counter despite her small size. She hasn't done this in her foster home, but we do not leave food on the counters. We have seen her jump over a pet gate however when she was left alone for a few minutes. She will need a family where someone is home more often than not or can take her with them. She has separation anxiety, and while this is manageable we don't want her to go to a home where she's left alone 8-10 hours a day several days a week. She becomes highly agitated and stressed being alone and crated. It is possible to leave her for a few hours at a time and she's not destructive in her crate. With some consistency in her life this should subside within a few months. McKenzy is wonderful with dogs and cats, and would do best with a little buddy to pal around with outside will keep her busy. She is quite active and would love to go for long walks/hikes where she can really use her nose; but remember she will follow that nose anywhere so she is not an off leash dog and will need a securely fenced yard. Weighing in at 30 pounds this girl is solid and strong. She is decent on a leash, but will pull when her nose tells her too-and can she pull! This is a lovely little girl who will melt anyone's heart who meets her. She has a kind soul and needs to find a forever home who will help her feel loved and secure.     Who would like a sweet, faithful companion who shows her devotion and love with her strong desire to please? Meet MARY! She is a healthy, medium-sized, 6 year old who has been searching for a forever family for many months from her temporary home at Meridian Canine Rescue (MCR). MARY does well with kids of all ages. She is housetrained, crate-trained, and walks well on leash after her initial excitement of being out of kennel. He is a one year old Airedale Aussie cross. Bloo needs to be with someone who has the time to exercise and play with him. He would also do very well with another doggies companion We love him.     Willow is a special girl! She had a difficult past but is looking for her blessed furever future. Willow is house trained, crate trained, and treat trained . She would thrive in a home without other animals and kids. It seems she has trouble (because of her past) 'reading' other dog's body language. With children she needs her space and doesn't feel comfortable being crowded. She has NEVER lashed out at them we just think it is better for her to be in a home without them to insure her success. All of this said, Willow is a LOVE! She would LOVE to be with a single male who would lovingly work with her fears and insecurities. Willow is ... (Read More)spayed and up to date on vaccinations. She wants to be someones running partner and could care less how early it is, she is always ready to go. She loves hikes and camping or anything just to be part of the gang. She really doesn't like to be left outside alone. It's so hard looking in at everyone and being the only one outside. That's just not fair. Rosie is just adorable. She has a few favorite things. A fuzzy blanket, a yummy chewy and dollies. She ... (Read More)loves stuffed guys. She has a Bert and Ernie, a big bird, a flying squirrel and a pretty princess doll. American Staffordshire Terrier Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Purdy will make someone a wonderful best friend! She loves people and just wants to be with you. She is a bit shy and submissive but warms up quickly. She likes to talk to you and she lets you know that you need to pay more attention to her by giving you a paw or a nudge with her nose for a pet or belly rub. She has quite the personality! Purdy is a 2 year old American Staffordshire Terrier, Labrador, Malamute and Shepherd mix (we did a DNA on her). She is a very sweet and lovable girl! Purdy likes going for walks and could be a nice hiking partner. She loves hanging out in the house watching TV with you too. She knows basic commands and ... (Read More)really wants to please. Purdy is house trained, good with older kids, she has not been around little ones. Purdy would do best as an only dog as she does get possessive about things she doesn't want to share. She seems okay around cats with proper introduction. She is nervous about confined areas so she would not be a dog you can crate. She would love a home with a big fenced yard to play in and a person to love her. (Less)

White Shepherd    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Seizures

[Read About Natural Seizure Care] I need to find my son's white german shepherd, Bylo, his forever home. He is eight years old (12/5/2016) and is on medication for idiopathic seizure disorder which is well controlled. He's a large goofy boy and part of our family. Bylo is very affectionate and an excellent companion. It would be helpful for him to have someone that has experience with the shepherd breed and able to work on socialization. He is protective of his family and nervous around new people until he warms up. He is very responsive to commands and is leash and house trained. He's close to 80lbs, up to date on vaccinations and neutered. He is also microchipped. ... (Read More)He'd probably do best in a one dog home and has never been around cats. My son has been diagnosed with asthma and unfortunately his 'best friend' is one of his triggers. It breaks my heart to have to do this but I need to do what is best for all of us. We live in Boise and really need to find somewhere for Bylo as soon as we can. If you are interested please contact us. Thank you (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Dog in Idaho
Dogs can make good pets in Idaho if they match your IifestyIe. Dogs have a reputation for being "man's best friend" for excellent reasons. Dogs are wonderful companions. Many breeds, in addition to being affectionate, devoted members of the family, are useful working dogs and guardians. Most dogs form tight bonds with their humans, and need to be cared for like the valuable family members they are. But sadly, some owners do not live up to the responsibility and involvement it takes to properly care for a dog throughout its life. Dogs can become the victims of neglect or active abuse. Some dogs receive tender, attentive care from their owners, but no longer have a home after their owner passes away or experiences a major life event that makes him unable to keep his dog. There are many more dogs than there are homes for dogs, and dogs that are not spayed or neutered can accidentally produce large numbers of puppies, exacerbating overpopulation. For this reason, three to four million dogs, many of them perfectly healthy and wonderful animals, are euthanized in the U.S. each year.

Many people get excited about owning a new dog, decide to get a puppy, and then pick one out at a pet shop or visit a breeder with a new litter. However, there are so many wonderful, friendly dogs in need of adoption, including puppies and purebreds. Some of these dogs might even be a better fit for a family than a new puppy; for instance, some adult dogs in need of adoption are already housebroken and obedience trained. Adoption is typically much less expensive than purchasing a dog. People who adopt dogs find the experience extremely rewarding, bond very closely with their dogs, and have the added satisfaction of knowing that one less animal has to be euthanized. If your family is ready for a canine companion, please consider adopting a dog!
