Dachshund    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Fearful/Anxious

Zoe is a miniature daschund who weighs about 12 lbs. and has been with extended family or our family since she was born. She is a very loyal sweet dog and is house trained. Knows commands Sit, Lay Down, Wait, Settle and Go To Bed (her kennel). She loves to go for walks with a leash. She loves to chew on squeaky toys. She loves to sit on laps and be petted by people she trusts. She does not like to be touched by guests. She will adjust to them, it's just the first few times they touch her Zoe is so afraid she barks fiercely when they reach for her or when they do touch her, she yelps like they hurt her. She has had another daschund in the ... (Read More)home before and she was submissive to the other dog. When we are not home she can spend quite a bit of time barking/howling and with my 84 year old mother living here, that is just not working out. (Less)

Chihuahua    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Name: Bugs Age: 6 months Breed: Tea cup Chihuahua Sex: Spayed Female Location: Meridian, ID Likes: Other dogs and cats, just wants to play with everyone Playing with chew toys and stuffed toys Cuddling/being as close as possible with her person Going for car rides Dislikes: Being crated for more than a few minutes Not having her human around her (separation anxiety) The cold Bugs is an itty bitty 5 pound Chi who loves to wear clothes and be with her people. This cutie has a lot to learn about life as she spent most of hers so far locked up in a shed. Now that she is free and living in a Fuzzy Pawz foster home she has found that ... (Read More)she loves to go places, meet new people and animals. She is very endearing and lovable; Bugs just wants to love and play with everyone and everything. Does well with a harness and restraint in a car even for long drives. She's not so great on a leash; she's okay until you try to get her to go in a direction she doesn't want to go then she, will fight the leash. More practice and she will excel at leash walking as she really does want to please her person. Bugs is pretty mild mannered, not much seems to phase her. She is very high energy and very easily excited, always wanting to play. Somewhat vocal but not really 'yappy.' She is easily excitable and can get a little carried away when playing, nipping playfully on occasion. She's on her way to being house broken, uses piddle pads fairly regularly. She sometimes lets you know she has to go by ringing a bell hanging on the door. Bugs would do best in a home where someone is around most of the time - no kids under 15 please (she has abused by children in her past life). Bugs would also love to have another dog in her new home to play with. She is treat and praise motivated she will learn all you need her to very quickly. If you can offer Bugs the world she has never known please go to http://fuzzypawzrescue.com/adopt/adoption-application-2/, fill out the pre adoption application and Fuzzy Pawz Rescue will contact you about her. There is a $40 adoption fee to help cover some of the cost of her spay and vaccinations. (Less)

Personality: High Energy
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Cooper is a 9 year old neutered male English Cocker Spaniel. Cooper's previous owner says Cooper is a wonderful dog but is high energy. She is an elderly lady with thin skin; when he would jump on her, she would bruise very easily. Cooper is house and leash trained. He loves to go for walks and car rides. Cooper has not been around young children so we don't know his behavior, but he does jump up so older children will probably be the best fit for him. Chihuahua Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Looking for a loving home for a very loving, special needs, dog. His name is 'JJ'. JJ is a stray that was taken in by my mom about two years ago. My mom now has dementia and is no longer able to care for him. He needs to be in a home with older children and no cats. A younger dog would be great because he loves to play! He does not need to be in your lap but loves to sit as close to you as possible. JJ needs a fenced yard to play in. Due to being a stray he has a problem with marking his territory and using the bathroom inside. I think lots of playtime outside and close supervision inside should fix this problem. He is very ... Papillon Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Foster location: Nampa ID Are you looking for a sweet little guy who gets along with dogs and cats and is very people oriented? Why not meet Rigby? Rigby is a 3 year old neutered male Papillion/Long Hair Chihuahua who came to Fuzzy Pawz when his owner was no longer able to care for him. Rigby is easy going, sweet and gets along with most everyone. He would prefer a home without children as a quiet home is what he craves (and he's only 6 pounds). Rigby loves treats and will dance for them when asked. He can be found wherever his Foster Mom is, and will sit on the back of the couch if it is not his turn for her attention. He came ... (Read More)from a single senior home and so Rigby knows nothing but a quiet lifestyle. He will do better in a home where he has some undivided attention - a work at home person or someone who is retired would be best. Rigby comes when called and loves to go on daily walks. He rides well in the car and loves to 'go bye bye.' Rigby is house trained and crate trained; but due to being neutered later in life he does mark his territory once in awhile; but he's learning and with a belly band on he can't mark at all. Rigby recently went to the vet and was neutered and vaccinated; he is in great health and just had a dental done. This cutie also recently went to the groomer (thanks Ellie of Paw Spa, Meridian) and while he did okay with it; he did get a bit snappish at the end when he had enough. Regular brushing will keep him in good shape. If you can provide Rigby with daily exercise, routine and a little bit of training, he could be a great match for you. No point in you looking any further! You can arrange to find out more about him by completing an adoption application at http://fuzzypawzrescue.com/adopt/adoption-application-2/ There is an adoption fee of $125 to adopt Rigby, this fee covers about %BD of the cost the rescue has into his vetting. Papillon Mix    Age: Adult

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Okie is a Papillon/Chihuahua mix who is about 2 1/2 years old. He's skittish and overwhelmed by the hustle and bustle at the rescue but shows no aggression & once he warms up to you, he is quite the lap buddy. It took about 2 minutes in a quiet setting and he was nuzzling my hand for attention like my cat. Okie walks ok on lead and knows to sit and may know more tricks but he wasn't going to show them off even for treats. He has a feathered coat mainly white w/ golden fringe and a couple darker spots. He also has one roving eye, reminds me of Igor in Young Frankenstein (if you're too young to remember 1974 you can look it up). Okie is a bit ... Unusual as the combination may be, our little buddy is a handsome, well-proportioned fellow with a compact & sturdy frame and sporting a blue and a brown eye (very striking). Gallant is light on his feet and really enjoys a good game of fetch, charging after a toss and lopping back with the catch. Gallant likes the lead but will match pace with you when reminded of his manners. Naturally inquisitive, he is interested in everything around him including the other dogs. Australian Shepherd    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Female Dogs Only, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

I love long walks, hikes, playing in the water and car rides!! FOSTER LOCATION: Boise, ID Say hello to handsome Koda Bear a new Fuzzy Pawz Rescue foster dog. Koda is a sweet and sensitive six year old neutered male Australian Shepherd who is in search of his forever home. Koda is a great dog, very playful and one that likes to go and do things with you. He is searching for an active household that will take him with them on outings. Koda is very good with people, but seems to really prefer the company of men; a single man or a father/son team would be perfect for this guy. Not that Koda doesn't like women he just doesn't bond with ... (Read More)them and prefers to be with and listen to the man of the house. He is great with kids, even the little ones. There is a four year boy he currently loves to play with. He doesn't jump on them and has shown only calmness and affection. While Koda is playful, he seems to prefer to be an only dog. However he does do well most of the time with dogs that are non-dominant, especially females. However he is not good with cats. So a home with no other pets or a submissive female would be best. Koda is an active dog and needs to be included in his family's daily life. He wants to go on every adventure, especially if it's an outdoor activity. He needs and wants to be a part of everything you do. Include him in your family and he will be your best buddy forever. This handsome guy is house trained and crate trained; in fact he loves his crate and will just sit in it whenever the urge arises. Koda knows quite a few commands including: sit, down, come, wait, heel, ok, leave it, off. He knows these command well, however he doesn't obey them all the time, he is a bit stubborn. Koda walks well on leash, especially if it is a brisk walk which is what his daily walks need to be. He also hikes well and jogs well. Koda does counter surf and despite his previous owners best efforts she was unable to stop him from doing that; instead he has been trained to stay out of the kitchen (we can work on this with you). Koda is very food motivated and is a quick learner once you get around his stubbornness. Koda is neutered, vaccinated and will be microchipped before adoption. There is a $40 adoption fee for Koda. If you are thinking that a playful, happy, boy is right for you and you live an active lifestyle please apply for Koda today: http://fuzzypawzrescue.com/adopt/adoption-application-2/ (Less)

Hemi is a loving, cuddly little guy. He loves to just sit and cuddle or run and play. He is also great with kids. We do think he may have been in a home where he was either abused or saw abuse, or both. He is very protective of his owners. He may be a better fit for a home with older children for this reason. However, if you are looking for a dog who will love you and just bubbles with personality, Hemi will fit right in.

We have a 2 year old male chihuahua that needs to find a new home. We have had him for 3 months. He gets along fantastically with our other dog, with some of my children-especially my 7 year old daughter, but he does not like my husband.     Free to a good home wonderful dog great with kids of all ages. We love him dearly but sadly can no longer provide for him financially. He is in need of veterinary care that we are not able to afford and would rather see him go to a home that can care for him properly.     I'm the Boomer, the boom boom man and I am just as loveable as I am cute. Before I come to live with my foster mom, life was kinda hard for me. When I was a young puppy I had to have my back leg removed or I could of died. My family didn't have time for me so I just lived outside by myself. I didn't do anything but lay around and eat whatever I could find. I was really heavy and had a hard time getting around. Since I come here I been eating some good food and lost a little weight. I am still building up my strength and may get a little wobbly sometimes but I can run and do about anything I want. If I fall I just get right back up ... (Read More)and do it again. I am a pretty good boxer boy and always eager to learn to make you happy. I loves everybody I meet, especially the little people's-they are the funnest. I do like playing with my boxer friends and other dogs but sometimes they want to pick on me or gang up on me so I just stick by myself a lot. I can sit and stay some of the time. I hardly ever pull on leash and will come to you when called. I am starting to like car rides as I learn how to keep my balance. I'm doing great with learning not to go potty in the house but I have to get out there fast first thing in the morning or there could be an accident. I'm not crazy about that crate thing but will go in if I have to. I don't like it when you leave me though-I get really scared when I cannot see you. I am trying to be brave but I am only 1 year old and have to learn. My foster mom says I am doing better when left for short periods of time. I sure hope my new family won't have to leave me by myself very much-that would be the best! Adoption application can be found at www.boxerrescueofidaho.org (Less)

Spring being a tough act to follow, God created June. - Al Bernstein FOSTER LOCATION: Boise, ID Our big girl Junie is an 8 year old Lab/Aussie mix and just the cutest thing you will see today! Hard to believe but Junie was slated to be euthanized in an out of state shelter, a lovely woman saw her and couldn't resist that face and hopped in the car, drove down to get her and now Fuzzy Pawz has the pleasure of finding this girl a home. Junie is your typical easy going Lab; she LOVES to be pet and loved on; but she is not in your face about it. She is content to do whatever you want to do when you want to do it. She is very good with ... (Read More)kids but is only mildy tolerant of toddlers; she is an older girl after all and has no room in her nap schedule for such nonsense! This lovely lady loves going for walks, playing outside and wading in the water though she is not high energy at all; any new adopter will want to keep up with this to continue with her weight loss (she's just a bit chunky). Junie got to go camping this weekend and she was amazing! She didn't run off, she ran around and played, took a lot of naps, slept on the mat with the other dog in the foster home and didn't stuck close to her foster family. Junie is house trained, crate trained and potty trained. She will not jump on the furniture, unless you invite her up, even then she's hesitant. She gets along with other dogs, including the rambunctious 1.5 year old black lab in her foster home. We have not had Junie around cats but she is easy going enough that she should be fine. Junie never barks or whines unless to alert you when somebody knocks on the door! She does shed a lot and will need to be brushed often. Rescue Me ID: 14-05-27-00708Benson (male)

American Staffordshire Terrier Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Very High Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Benson needs a buddy to play with! Do you love hiking in the foothills? Do you want to play fetch or tug-of-war with a best friend? Do you have a dog that loves playing with other dogs? When you are done playing, do you want a dog to adore you and cuddle? Benson may be the perfect dog for you. Benson is a high energy dog who needs an owner with an active lifestyle. Unfortunately, due to our escalating health issues, we cannot properly provide for Benson the way he deserves. We adopted him as a puppy and he is now about 4 and a half years old. Since he is a rescue, his exact breed will forever be unknown. He is about 65 lbs and a tall, ... (Read More)athletic build. There may or may not be American Staffordshire Terrier in there, or perhaps some variety of high energy large sporting dogs such as pointers. He is an attractive white dog with light spots on his coat, perky ears, adorable face, and adoring eyes. He is trainable and knows basic commands. He loves playing fetch and tug of war - he even knows to drop the toy on command. The ideal owner would continue to work on training him with positive reinforcement, perhaps along with a trainer. Benson is great with other dogs, big and small. He just wants to play. If you have another high energy dog that loves to play, they can wear themselves out in the back yard together (after a proper introduction of course)! When Benson is not running around and playing, he is a 65 lb lap dog. He loves attention and wants to be your best friend. He will love you with all his heart and wants to cuddle. He is big and strong and, though not aggressive, would still be best in a home without small children or cats due to his energetic personality. He is fine with older children who know how to behave themselves around dogs. (Less)

Health: Needs Vaccinations, Abused/Neglected, Fearful/Anxious

We adopted Lacy about 10 months ago, as a companion for our doxie. The people we got her from did not disclose her mental issues. She was extremely obese but we got her on wt. reduction and she is close to proper wt. now. She is anxious, fearful, startles easily and is very affection needy. My husband and I are in retirement and are active, but having Lacie requires us to spend much time just reassuring, petting holding, etc. In all the time we've had her, 10 months, she has not improved. We have been gentle, we spend as much time with her as we can, we have a quiet tho busy household. She also is food-gobbler. I think she was ... (Read More)underfed as she eats her food so fast she nearly chokes. She has a very sweet disposition, but requires an older person or couple, a quiet home, people who could let Lacie sit on their lap, and make her the center of attention affection and acceptance as we have. We just are busier than to be able to do that as much as she seems to need. She is house trained, kennel trained. She needs a home where she would be given a lap or soft chair to lay on and a person to pet and tell her she is good. She's such a nice dog, but she is too anxsious to fit into our household and our other doxie even startles her. We would love to find her a loving older new owner who would be able to give her the attention and reassurance she needs. (Less)

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Hip Dysplasia

Hi....my name is Ramsey. I am 5 years old. I need a permanent home or maybe even just a place to stay for a few months (as a foster). My owners recently had to downsize to an apartment and I am not allowed to go live with them. I personally think I make a great pet even though I am a bit larger than the average one. I am a black lab mix with a small bit of arthritis in my hip. I like to walk, play in the water and go hiking but jumping isnt really my thing (due to the hip). I am great with kids as long as they are of the older variety and even other pets. I had a sister but she recently went to Heaven. I am an inside dog but love to go for ... (Read More)rides just as long as its not in the back of your pickup truck. I have been nuetered and have all my shots and am ready to go to my new home. I am staying with freinds at the moment but they have pets of their own and too many can be too much if it goes for too long....if you get my drift. I'd love some place with a yard so I can just lay and enjoy the sunshine. If you would like for me to interview you or you have questions please contact my management consultants. Their names are Butch and Lisa. (Less)

Say hello to Natasha (Tasha), Tasha is a 3 year old fawn boxer. She is a happy and lovable girl that loves to play with her toys. Tasha is ready to please from the moment you meet her. She will play fetch, and loves to look to the sky and chase the birds that fly by. Tasha is not a barker and is happy to meet anyone raising her paw up for a quick shake and then wants a quick scratch behind the ear. Although Tasha is good with people to include children she has a fear of other dogs and will become aggressive to them. We have been working with her to overcome this and some progress has been made. Tasha is not a cat lover and will chase ... (Read More)cats, we have been working hard to stop this problem. She is a very intelligent and loving dog and would make an excellent best friend in a home without other dogs or cats. (Less)

My name is Joanie and I am 1 ½ years old. I am a smaller boxer girl, weighing only 36 pounds. I'm also about the best little cuddle snuggle bug there is. I am the happiest when I am playing with my stuffies and the squeakers - my foster mommy says that my new name is going to be squeaker. I would like it if my forever family had some of the little ones cas they are my best friends. I love playing with them and don't even care if they forget and pull my tail or ears. I even let them take my ball out of my mouth but the best is when I gets to cuddle with my friends. I'm really good about not going potty in the house and I will ... (Read More)stay in the crate thing if I really have to. I like to go on car rides and I'm learning not to pull so much on the leash. I know how to sit but still working on the stay. It is really hard cause I like to be next to you. If I could be the only dog that would be the greatest!! I don't know what to think about other dogs-part of me is excited but then I get really scared and try to be the tough guy. My foster mommy says that I am doing lots better and I am easily redirected. I mind good when she says no. I have been waiting a long time for my forever family!! I hope they find me soon. Rescue Me ID: 14-05-02-00141Beau (male)

Australian Cattle Dog Mix    Age: Puppy

Health: Neutered

Beau came to us as a 7 month old puppy with no training or set boundaries and was a typical wild and crazy pup. We soon discovered Beau had what is called 'confrontational play,' which meant he would challenge his handler by either going after their feet, or being mouthy and grabbing their arm. He was not aggressive at all... just wanted to romp and play. This could have turned into a bigger issue if not corrected so a trainer was asked to work with Beau. After about three weeks of training, Beau is ready for his new home, and is a happy well behaved boy. He would like to find a home where he will be included in their daily activities, and ... (Read More)give him plenty of exercise. Beau. is a head-turner because he is a very handsome, sturdy and lovable 9 month old male Heeler Mix. We are not sure what he may be mixed with, since his coloring is not that of a Cattle Dog, but his personality traits do reflect he is at least part Heeler. He is young and full of energy. He enjoys treats and will sit nicely to receive them. He is a bright boy, and willing to learn new things. He likes other animals, having been around cats and other dogs, and enjoys older children. He might be too much for the younger ones because of his energy level and wanting to play. If you are interested in meeting this outstanding young boy, please call the Rescue to arrange a time to meet Beau since he is currently with the trainer. If you want to apply for Beau, go to http://www.meridianvalleyhumanesociety.com/pre-adopt-questionnaire.rtf to fill out an application. After completing the application, e-mail it to meridianvalleyhumanesociety@gmail.com. All applications will be considered and the adoption coordinator will contact the person chosen to adopt him. Pit Bull Mix    Age: Young Adult

Personality: High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Vita is an energetic gal that needs room to run. She can be good with other dogs if they are submissive, but she has attacked other dogs in the past and recently killed my Shih Tzu. Would recommend she is the only pet and a kid free home. We would prefer to not have to put her down and would rather re home instead. She is very loving and protective of her owner, would be the perfect dog in the right home. Please help

Rescue Me ID: 13-07-11-00402Marty (male)

Cocker Spaniel    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Abused/Neglected,
 Fearful/Anxious

We purchased this dog 5.5 years ago as a Christmas present for our girls. Little did we know the breeder was abusive. When we picked up Marty at 10 weeks, he was in very bad shape. We have cared for him for 4 years, the past 1.5 years my mother in law has kept him with her 3 Shitzus. Marty has separation anxiety and needs lots of love and attention. If he is left alone for any period of time, he howls. As is common with Cockers, he also has an issue with urinating or 'sprinkling' when excited. He is so sweet and loving. He LOVES walking and chasing balls, and knows how to use the treadmil. We have very busy lifestyles (college, school, ... (Read More)work, etc) and we also recently moved from California to Idaho. That is why he is staying with my Mother. If you are looking for a 24/7 companion, we would like to talk to you about giving Marty a loving home. This is very difficult for our girls, so it has to be a good fit. If you are in the Boise area, we would also like to visit on occasion if that works for you. Although my mother has Marty, please contact me for more info. Thank you. (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Dog in Idaho
Dogs can make good pets in Idaho if they match your IifestyIe. Dogs have a reputation for being "man's best friend" for excellent reasons. Dogs are wonderful companions. Many breeds, in addition to being affectionate, devoted members of the family, are useful working dogs and guardians. Most dogs form tight bonds with their humans, and need to be cared for like the valuable family members they are. But sadly, some owners do not live up to the responsibility and involvement it takes to properly care for a dog throughout its life. Dogs can become the victims of neglect or active abuse. Some dogs receive tender, attentive care from their owners, but no longer have a home after their owner passes away or experiences a major life event that makes him unable to keep his dog. There are many more dogs than there are homes for dogs, and dogs that are not spayed or neutered can accidentally produce large numbers of puppies, exacerbating overpopulation. For this reason, three to four million dogs, many of them perfectly healthy and wonderful animals, are euthanized in the U.S. each year.

Many people get excited about owning a new dog, decide to get a puppy, and then pick one out at a pet shop or visit a breeder with a new litter. However, there are so many wonderful, friendly dogs in need of adoption, including puppies and purebreds. Some of these dogs might even be a better fit for a family than a new puppy; for instance, some adult dogs in need of adoption are already housebroken and obedience trained. Adoption is typically much less expensive than purchasing a dog. People who adopt dogs find the experience extremely rewarding, bond very closely with their dogs, and have the added satisfaction of knowing that one less animal has to be euthanized. If your family is ready for a canine companion, please consider adopting a dog!
