Rescue Me ID: 14-08-20-00236Laika (female)

Border Collie Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Fearful/Anxious

Laika is a very sweet dog with LOTS of energy. She was adopted by me at 6 weeks old through the Humane Society. That was 2.5 years ago. She can sit, and is house trained. She loves to chase squirrels, snuggle with dish rags, and bite at flies. She never bites but has nipped at other dogs. My job changed and I simply do not have the availability for her that she needs and loves so much. I do not know how she is with tiny children, but she loves my two teenagers greatly. She's such a sweety, but I want her to have a home, not just an owner.

Rescue Me ID: 14-08-20-00199JJ (male)

Chihuahua Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Bet you can't resist his smile! FOSTER LOCATION: Boise, ID Two years ago JJ was found as a stray, moved in with a lovely senior woman and enjoyed life to the fullest. Sadly his mom developed health issues that didn't allow her to care for this adorable 4 year old Chihuahua any longer. Fuzzy Pawz is now dedicated to finding JJ the perfect forever home. JJ is a very nice boy who loves to be with his person; he loves to sit in your lap or next to you and he likes to be held and cuddled on. JJ has not been socialized very well so he does take a minute or two to make friends with people; but once he does look out, he'll smother you with ... (Read More)kisses. We do require kids 14+ as he has never lived with kids to our knowledge. Sweet, stocky, sturdy and a bit stubborn is how we'd describe this boy. He is very smart and knows 'sit', 'wait', 'follow me', and 'down'. We had been working on 'do your business', not sure if that one has stuck yet or not. He walks on a leash nicely. He even knows to wait to be invited into/out of the house. While he knows all of these things and does them well 90% of the time he does have a stubborn streak and will employ 'selective hearing' from time to time. JJ needs a stable household with someone who can take the time to finish house training him. We are sure he would already be housetrained however there is another dog in his current residence that is not house trained. Some consistent house training work for a few days and this will be taken are of. If you can offer o the life he deserves please fill out the adoption application at http://fuzzypawzrescue.com/adopt/adoption-application-2/ There is an adoption fee of $40 to adopt JJ JJ is neutered, vaccinated (Less)

Miniature Pinscher    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Not Good with Other Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

We took Sofie on as a foster addition to our family. We have a submissive male mix breed and they do get along for the most part, but I would suggest her to be a single dog family. She would be better suited for an adult/older children (teen) home. She is very sweet, she loves to cuddle. Like any Min Pin, she likes to eat so you have to watch her weight. She is a little overweight, she has lost weight since coming into our home. She is playful, responsive to learning commands, and loves going out for walks (what dog doesn't). She is a great addition to a family. If she was a bit more submissive with our four legged family member we would ... (Read More)absolutely keep her. (Less)

PLEASE HELP! DOLLY NEEDS A HOME!!!! DOLLY is a sweet little staffie. She has been in a foster home for a year, living with large and small dogs, and passed her Canine Good Citizen test. She is incredibly sweet with people and does well with dogs that tolerate her very rough and tumble play style. Her foster took in another female pittie and she and Dolly did not get along, got into a fight and both dogs were dropped at the vet without a 2nd look back. The foster will not take her back so she is sitting in vet clinic and the rescue (Shadow's Fund) has nowhere for her to go. She has to be confused and heartbroken about losing her home and her ... Boxer    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Reesa is a good dog and been an wonderful part of our family since we adopted her three years ago. Unfortunately, she has gotten into several fights with our other dog (Female Husky mix, submissive) and we are unable to keep her in our home. As noted above, we are unsure of her compatibility with other dogs as we don't know (nor do we have the ability) to sort out if Reesa's behavior can be modified. 99% of the time, she is a great, loving dog and does very well with adults, kids and dogs. However that 1% has resulted in several, very aggressive fights/attacks on our other dog. Reesa was found, abandoned and malnourished on the Payette ... (Read More)River. We are unsure if this contributes to the fighting, although we suspect that at some level it does. We want to find a good home for her. He is house trained and has all the standard training (leash, sit, lay, etc). He has some anxiety when left alone. Due to his anxiety and my working a lot we have decided it would be better for him to have a home where someone has a lot more time to spend with Cash. We love him very much.

German Wirehaired Pointer Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Hi, my name is Super Bud! Well, I really just go by Bud; however a very sweet little girl named me Super Bud as she thought I looked just like Super Grover from Sesame Street. Perhaps it was because I used my super snuggle powers on her! I am hoping to use my Super Powers to mesmerize a family and find a forever home! Let me tell you a little bit about myself. I am about 7 months old, yep, not quite done growing yet and I am going to be a tall boy! My Fuzzy Pawz Foster Mom said I am a German Wirehaired Pointer mixed with snuggly cuteness; see all that totally adorable fuzz on my face. I LOVE people! I follow my Foster Mom everywhere ... (Read More)she goes and sneak in extra petting time whenever I can. I live with three other dogs and we all get along great, but sometimes I forget just how big I am and have to be reminded not to run them over during play time. I am already house trained and working on many other commands. My Foster Mom said I am one smart boy! I have already learned how to sit, work the doggie door and take treats gently. I am doing well with my crate training too. I walk fairly well on a leash, just remember I am still a young boy and might get distracted on occasion. I thrive on praise, so tell me what I am doing well and I will be happy to repeat it! I enjoy going new places with my Foster Mom and meeting all sorts of friendly people. Some of the people are so friendly that I even get treats from them! This foster dog gig is pretty good, but my heart still aches for a family of my very own! Is that you? I am neutered, microchipped and current on all my vaccinations. There is a $40 adoption fee plus the reduced cost of my neuter. If you would like to see my Super Powers in person let my bestest friends over at Fuzzy Pawz Rescue know by filing this out: http://fuzzypawzrescue.com/adopt/adoption-application-2/ Thanks for reading all about you - hope to smell you later!     Ginger was dropped off at my house. She loves to play fetch and go for walks. Unfortunately, Ginger can be aggressive. She unpredictably attacks other large dogs and people. She is also unpredictable with children, though I have never seen her attack a child, she has snipped at one. She will bite unfamiliar adults, but has not broken skin so far (that I know of). I believe she can be rehabilitated, but she needs a lot more expertise and training than I can give her. Once she gets to know you, she is very gentle and submissive. But if she doesn't know the person, who knows what she will do. I really don't want to have her euthanized, but I ...     [Read About Natural Seizure Care] FOSTER LOCATION: Boise, ID Silly, goofy, sweet, gentle those are the words we who know her use to describe Misty the 3 year old Chihuahua mix. This pretty, long legged girl is just a joy to be around with her lopsided grin and her ambling walk. Misty is one of those dogs that just make you smile every time you see her face or watch her prance over to you for some loves. Misty had quite the hard luck life before she came to Fuzzy Pawz, living her life in a small cage. But she has put those demons behind her and is ready to settle down on the couch for a nap and a bit of tv watching with her family. Misty ... (Read More)loves nice long scratches and rubs on her chest! We do require that Misty do not go to a home that has kids under 15 as she does get overwhelmed by too much going on. Misty gets along fine with other small dogs but big dogs scare her. Misty would do best in a household that has other dogs her size or as an only dog where she can get all the love and attention. She is mostly fine with the cats in her foster home; she will on occasion take offense to them if they are being too pushy, but it is just barking. Misty does have a funny little prance when she walks; but it doesn't slow her down at all, it is the only thing she has ever known and she gets around great. And it can sometimes take her an extra second to process information when she is tired or scared. This damage is from neurological damage from birth and it not getting worse - it was from trauma when she was born. Misty is house trained but she can't hold it more than 5-6 hours so she needs to go to a home who can accommodate that. She does not enjoy walking on leash, is not a big fan of the great outdoors but she is great in the house. Misty does need a family that will allow her to have quiet time in her crate (her favorite place to nap) and will let her live the quiet, spoiled life she deserves. She would love to spend her days sitting in your lap soaking up your love. She really is a playful, happy little girl who has turned lemons into lemonade. If you can offer our little girl the life she should have always had please fill out the adoption application at http://fuzzypawzrescue.com/adopt/adoption-application-2/ There is an adoption fee of $40 to adopt Misty Misty is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped *Misty is eligible for our Pets for Patriots Program **You can see a short video of Misty walking here: http://youtu.be/3NdK4kQbVoo (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 13-07-11-00402Marty (male)

Cocker Spaniel    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Abused/Neglected,
 Fearful/Anxious

We purchased this dog 5.5 years ago as a Christmas present for our girls. Little did we know the breeder was abusive. When we picked up Marty at 10 weeks, he was in very bad shape. We have cared for him for 4 years, the past 1.5 years my mother in law has kept him with her 3 Shitzus. Marty has separation anxiety and needs lots of love and attention. If he is left alone for any period of time, he howls. As is common with Cockers, he also has an issue with urinating or 'sprinkling' when excited. He is so sweet and loving. He LOVES walking and chasing balls, and knows how to use the treadmil. We have very busy lifestyles (college, school, ... (Read More)work, etc) and we also recently moved from California to Idaho. That is why he is staying with my Mother. If you are looking for a 24/7 companion, we would like to talk to you about giving Marty a loving home. This is very difficult for our girls, so it has to be a good fit. If you are in the Boise area, we would also like to visit on occasion if that works for you. Although my mother has Marty, please contact me for more info. Thank you. (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Dog in Idaho
Dogs can make good pets in Idaho if they match your IifestyIe. Dogs have a reputation for being "man's best friend" for excellent reasons. Dogs are wonderful companions. Many breeds, in addition to being affectionate, devoted members of the family, are useful working dogs and guardians. Most dogs form tight bonds with their humans, and need to be cared for like the valuable family members they are. But sadly, some owners do not live up to the responsibility and involvement it takes to properly care for a dog throughout its life. Dogs can become the victims of neglect or active abuse. Some dogs receive tender, attentive care from their owners, but no longer have a home after their owner passes away or experiences a major life event that makes him unable to keep his dog. There are many more dogs than there are homes for dogs, and dogs that are not spayed or neutered can accidentally produce large numbers of puppies, exacerbating overpopulation. For this reason, three to four million dogs, many of them perfectly healthy and wonderful animals, are euthanized in the U.S. each year.

Many people get excited about owning a new dog, decide to get a puppy, and then pick one out at a pet shop or visit a breeder with a new litter. However, there are so many wonderful, friendly dogs in need of adoption, including puppies and purebreds. Some of these dogs might even be a better fit for a family than a new puppy; for instance, some adult dogs in need of adoption are already housebroken and obedience trained. Adoption is typically much less expensive than purchasing a dog. People who adopt dogs find the experience extremely rewarding, bond very closely with their dogs, and have the added satisfaction of knowing that one less animal has to be euthanized. If your family is ready for a canine companion, please consider adopting a dog!

lnteresting Dog Trivia Low-Cost Idaho Spay & Neuter Clinics
All dogs, even cute little lap dogs, are ultimately descended from domesticated wolves. There are hundreds of dog breeds with extremely varied characteristics and sizes, from the tiniest teacup Chihuahua to the hugest Mastiff, but all of these breeds make up just one species Canis lupus familiaris and can theoretically breed with one another (although there can be practical and health related constraints.) The dog was the earliest domesticated animal. Dogs are red-green colorblind. Dogs can hear much lower frequencies than humans, over twice as high as humans, and about four times as far as humans.
