Lab Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Thelma is the smallest of the two sisters that came in together. When they first came to ANH they were both so scared. Thelma would hide behind her sister and peak around to see what was going on. Now she's as busy and happy as could be. She is just adorable and has a spunky little personality. She can keep up with any of the big dogs at the shelter and usually gets to the ball first. Then away she goes full blast though the snow playing keep away. She loves to stomp on her tennis balls and bury them in the snow. Then she tunnels under to retrieve her prize and off she goes again. Thelma is just 8 months old and she is a very ... (Read More)good puppy. She minds great, sits for treats and even kennels when asked. She is spayed up on all her vaccinations, and micro chipped. Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Louise is one of two sisters who came to the shelter together. They were found running along the highway. They were cold and scared are ready to be rescued. At first they were both very shy but it didn't take long at all to fit right in to the fun routine at ANH. Louise is 8 months old. She has been spayed, is up on vaccinations, and micro chipped. She loves to play ball and loves to play queen of the mountain. She always wants to be first to the top of our big snow piles. German Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Oh my what a beauty this little girl is. Those eyes and those ears and that cute little wiggle. You just can't help but smile when she bats those eyelashes. She is definitely a little princess. Since her eyeliner is never smudged. (HeHe) and she always looks so perfect we thought the name Cleopatra was perfect. Calling Cleopatra when you need everyone to come inside just sounded silly so we shortened her name to Cleo and it fits. Cleo minds like a dream and is so sweet. She loves attention and loves to snuggle. She's not much of a ball player but she does love to go for walks. She is fabulous on leash and perfect in the car. ... (Read More)She's a watcher and would make a wonderful constant companion. Cleo is great with kids, other dogs and kitties. She's quiet and pretty close to perfect. Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Patty was adopted by a woman in February of 2016 from a shelter. She had her spayed, health checked and vaccinations brought up to date, and even had a dental procedure done. Patty and the woman became fast friends and constant companions. Unfortunately the woman passed away in early January 2017 and it was Her wish that Patty not go back t a shelter. Boxer Mix    Age: Puppy

Personality: Very High Energy
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Needs Vaccinations, Abused/Neglected

I am putting my feelers out to see if I can find this boy a good home. He is an intact male that will turn one in May. It is my nephew's dog and truth be told he was not ready for the responsibility of raising and training a puppy on his own. As a result he had been neglected, is not socialized very well, and has lived most of his life in a kennel. This means that he is NOT housebroken and does not know any commands or recognize personal space lol. But what he lacks in these areas he makes up for in enthusiasm and character. He really just needs someone to love him and spend time with him. I have talked to friends and family and now I come ... (Read More)to the Facebook forum.     I am putting my feelers out to see if I can find this sweet girl a better home. She is a spayed female around 5 years old. She had a litter of last May and was fixed after they were weaned. She is my mother in law's dog and truth be told she had been severely neglected. She was never socialized or house trained, but she is the most lovey dog ever. Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Boomer is a two year old Lab. He is absolutely gorgeous and his coat just shimmers. He is happy and social and full of it. :) He just wiggles when he sees someone come out to play and he does really well with all the other dogs. He is also ok with kitties. Just likes to pester them but wouldn't hurt anyone. He loves to play ball more than anything and if he's playing ball in the snow that's a bonus. Rescue Me ID: 17-01-18-00126Happy (male)

German Shorthaired Pointer    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Mr. Happy is an incredible German Shorthair Pointer. He is so well mannered, so obedient and beautiful. He loves to play ball and he loves squeaky toys. He runs around the field and picks up all the other toys the other dogs have left out. Then he hides them in his kennel for later. He loves to torment everyone by squeaking the abandoned toys he's found that are 'all' his now. He is kind of a clown and can be goofy but he loves to snuggle. Tummy rubs were invented just for him and he doesn't ever want them to stop. Food is a very big part of this kids life too. He loves treats. He also loves bubble baths. He had his very first ... (Read More)spa treatment and seriously did not want to get out of the tub. He strutted his stuff when he came back to the shelter as if to say. 'Yep I am lookin fine' :) Our Happy has had a bad couple of weeks. The vet noticed a growth on his leg and after a biopsy was done we found out he had a soft tissue sarcoma, grade 1. Which is very slow growing. The lump was removed and our vets thought they got all the cancer. The prognosis is good. Happy is just 7 years old and he loves life. We are hoping there is someone who will be willing to share a few wonderful years with him and follow through with any necessary treatments. Happy is neutered, up on all his vaccinations and micro chipped. He is a pro at the doggie door and would love an inside home. Rescue Me ID: 17-01-17-00221Eliza (female)

Lab Mix    Age: Adult

At almost 7 years of age, Miss Eliza here has settled nicely into adulthood. She gets along well with other dogs; she knows several commands; she's spayed, utd on shots, and healthy. Eliza exhibited minimal separation anxiety in her previous household by scratching the door from which her family would leave, but she never chewed or destroyed anything in the house. According to her previous family, Eliza's perfect day would start with breakfast around 6:30-7:00, as long a walk as you want to take her on, a ride in the car, and another walk in the evening and dinner around 6:00pm. While on walks, her nose is to the ground and she loves to mark ... (Read More)her territory outside on weeds and tall grass. Her favorite toys are her Kong Squeaky tennis balls, and her braided rope for tug-o-war, and her squeaky Panda. Eliza's one issue is that she is scared and nervous around babies, so a mature household is desired for her. An ideal home for Eliza may be with a retired couple who can be with her a lot. She is a loyal and affectionate companion, and she is just waiting for you to take her home. Come meet Eliza, a Lab/Hound mix, at the Rescue during open hours. *Please contact us for her adoption fee. (Less)

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Cricket is looking for a new home through no fault of her own. Her previous owner moved across the country and could not take all of her animals with her. She's a spunky senior (believed to be about 14 years young) that was in a house with two other dogs, three cats and four kids (the youngest was 6 years old when they got her). She does good with my dogs except she likes to sneak toys away from my smallest. She does love to eat so she'd need someone that would monitor her food so she doesn't over eat. She hops around happily when she knows I'm about to put her food dish down. She was crate trained with her prior owner. There was one potty ... Rescue Me ID: 17-01-15-00210Poppy (male)

Jack Russell Mix    Age: Adult

For those of you who follow our page, you'll probably remember Ginger the Diva. She was, shall we say, behaviorally challenged, but all she needed was the right home and family to thrive and to live up to her full potential. Meet Poppy, Ginger's long-lost brother. Not really, of course, but they are so much like each other that we suspect Ginger sent Poppy to us just to keep us on our toes. Thanks, Ginger. After a couple of trainer evaluations and a veterinary assessment, we believe that Poppy is ready to be adopted by someone who likes and knows how to work with dogs who, well, have an attitude. We sent Poppy off to live with Dr. Karlee ... (Read More)Hondo-Rust for a while, and here are her notes: 'Poppy is an amazing dog! Please do not be fooled by his vocal behavior at the rescue. My family had the privilege of fostering Poppy and I must tell you he is a very different dog in a home environment. Poppy is house and kennel trained. We had zero accidents during his stay; When he needed to go, he ran to the door and let us know! He is also highly food motivated which has made training very easy. During his stay with my family, Poppy was pretty much a couch potato. His favorite activities were playing and cuddling with my toy rat terrier, Quarter. Reportedly, he had issues with visitors at his previous home (territorialism), but we did not experience this while he was in foster. Poppy is a typical small dog who thinks he's 180 pounds. He will do his best to be the alpha if his human family members are not up to the task of, 'commander and chief.' I believe that Poppy needs a home with experienced dog owners -- owners who have no issue with being the alpha of the pack. He will excel to his full potential in a home that is consistent with their schedule and expectations (rules). At my home there is a clear expectation of what is deemed appropriate behavior and Poppy had no issue with these expectations. I truly believe he is a dog that wants to win your approval (he doesn't want to be the alpha if he doesn't have to) and will do what it takes to get it. He would also do best in a home that consists of adults or adults and mature/older children.' An approximately 5 year old Jack Russell Terrier mix, Poppy is now waiting in our Rescue for the right person to come along and take him home. Is that you? *Please contact us for his adoption fee. Norfolk Terrier Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

FOSTER LOCATION: Boise, ID Ted is a 2 year old male terrier mix who iis about 12 lbs, and 100% adorable. This little guy came to Fuzzy Pawz from a local shelter where he was terrified. It took some time for him to realize humans aren't so bad; he is still nervous around strangers but now this adorable little guy is ready to find his forever people. He is extremely well behaved and has been the sweetest boy at his foster home. He is potty trained and does very well with a doggy door. He is very attached to his furry foster siblings and would definitely do best with a playmate. He loves to play with other pups and snuggle up with them; he ... (Read More)also finds comfort with other furry buddies. He is super gentle with smaller dogs and no issues with kitties. He also loves toys and chew bones. He likes to round up all the toys and take them to his bed - How great is a dog that cleans up?! He doesn't bark much, and he isn't at all yappy like some terriers. Ted is a champ with baths and just doesn't really make a fuss about anything. He probably thinks his name is good-boy because his foster mom says it so much! Ted may have had a rough early life as he is very leery of humans. It takes him some time to warm up to humans, and his forever home will need to be very patient and give him time to come around. It has taken some time, but he lets his foster mom pet him and pick him up. Ted could really benefit from some training for skills like 'come' and 'stay' and walking on a leash. Small kiddos are not a good fit for Ted as he is freighted by sudden movements or anyone that approaches him too fast. It may take some time for Ted to warm up, but he is absolutely worth it! This sweet guy deserves a loving forever home where he can settle in and be a part of the family. Ted is neutered, vaccinated and has a microchip If you think you can offer Ted an amazing forever home please complete an adoption application on the Fuzzy Pawz website: http://fuzzypawzrescue.com/adopt/adoption-application-2/ There is an adoption fee of $75 for Ted (Less)

Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Seizures

[Read About Natural Seizure Care] I need to find my son's white german shepherd, Bylo, his forever home. He is eight years old (12/5/2016) and is on medication for idiopathic seizure disorder which is well controlled. He's a large goofy boy and part of our family. Bylo is very affectionate and an excellent companion. It would be helpful for him to have someone that has experience with the shepherd breed and able to work on socialization. He is protective of his family and nervous around new people until he warms up. He is very responsive to commands and is leash and house trained. He's close to 80lbs, up to date on vaccinations and neutered. He ... (Read More)is also microchipped. He'd probably do best in a one dog home and has never been around cats. My son has been diagnosed with asthma and unfortunately his 'best friend' is one of his triggers. It breaks my heart to have to do this but I need to do what is best for all of us. We live in Boise and really need to find somewhere for Bylo as soon as we can. If you are interested please contact us. Thank you (Less)

German Shorthaired Pointer Mix    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Trent is an amazing dog that we thought we were temporarily housing but then his owners said they couldn't take him back. He has lived his whole life as an outdoor dog with lots of room to run. We tried to house-train him but with me being 9 months pregnant, we just don't have the time to invest and it's just not fair to him. When we are home, he is very mellow and does a great job inside. He sleeps in our bedroom floor in his bed. If left alone inside for minutes, he will have an accident. On the positive side, he is one of the best bird hunting dogs. He is very well trained! My husband will miss taking him out. We have leashes and a ... (Read More)wooden dog house that can go with him. Two weeks ago he got a bath, wellness check, and all up to date on his shots. I can provide record of this as well. He has been around little children and does great. He lives with our chocolate lab and gets along super. Before our house, he was around horses and never had an issue. It is very hard to do this, but our house and yard is just too small. It's unfair for him to be crated all day while we are at work.     Ranger is around 8 months and is the cutest pitty mix puppy! He loves to romp and play with friends and is always ready to receive treats. Ranger is still working on the potty training business so potential adopters must be ready with patience to finish the puppy stage with Ranger. We do prefer a home with no small children, Ranger is still a bouncy and playful puppy to where he would unintentionally knock down a small child. Please contact us with any question about Ranger!

For this guy, I will only allow local adoption (Boise area). Fenced yard with a 6 foot or taller fence (no underground fences) is a must and all other animals in the home must be fixed. There will be zero exceptions to these requirements for Mosby so please don't ask. Mosby is very energetic and would do best with another playful dog.     Puppy time! Little Miss Bailey joined us last week and went into foster. She is a 3 month old Lab/Border Collie mix who is now spayed, vaccinated, and vet checked. If you're interested in adopting Bailey, please call the Rescue at 208-794-0944 to schedule a meet-and-greet. Foster mom Sue says, 'Bailey is a really good girl. She loves to play with her toys and seems to always have one with her. Bailey is crate trained and sleeps all night. She is very well behaved while you are bathing her and likes to snuggle wrapped up in a blanket when you are done. Bailey plays hard but she does settle down and just wants to hang out with you or sleep on the bed while I am reading or watching TV. Bailey is a real lover'|.she would let you sit and pet her all day if it were up to her. We are working on 'sit''|.she comes when you call her name, she understands 'no', 'off' and 'leave it''|typical things you say to a toddler, lol. Bailey does like to chew so I would be careful leaving shoes laying around. She also like to nibble on your hand/arm'|we are working on that'|Bailey is great with my 5 year old grandson'|.they play and play and play'|.Bailey does o.k. on a leash and will get better over time. She does get cold outside rather quickly so I would recommend a sweater when she goes out.' *Please contact the rescue for her adoption fee. (Less)

This is Buck! We are hoping this will be the last time good boy Buck comes back to us and if not we will continue to search for his forever home, we will not give up on the guy. Buck needs someone who is willing to give him endless amount of time to readjust and settle in to his new home. Buck was in 2 different homes(one in November and the other in December). Buck spent a 2 week period of time in both homes.%A0Usually about 2 weeks gives a dog enough time to settle in, unfortunately 2 weeks just isn't enough for Buck, he will need someone who is willing to give him as much time he needs to settle in. Maybe someone is willing to foster ... (Read More)that way he can be in a home and we can find out more about his characteristics when in a home setting?? If only dogs could talk, Buck could tell us the home that would best for him! Buck's biggest quirk is he still has the chewing habit of a pup when bored or left alone. Thanks to the second home for taking the time to%A0crate train Buck. He is not fond of it but will go in when told. We do know that is he much better with a K9 companion than without, he is more at ease and stays occupied by having a playmate. An outdoorsy active home would suit him the best. Buck loves to be outside and definitely has the energy to go walking, running, or hiking. Maybe even swimming! We estimated an age of 4 years for Buck, but with the energy he has got, good possibility he is younger. We also are thinking he is Labrador mixed with Border Collie. Both breeds alone are packed with energy. Buck weighs 60lbs.%A0He knows his basic commands. He is VERY smart. He has a 'Busy Ball' that we fill with treats and food to keep him occupied and he always has it empty between playtimes! Buck is a really sweet boy and is more than deserving of a home to call his own.(I think I have covered everything we know about Buck since he 1st came to HAAS in September)%A0Buck will be a resident here at HAAS until that perfect home comes along. We just hope that it is not a long wait for him! (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-12-19-00178Rory (male)

Rat Terrier Mix    Age: Young Adult

Update on Rory, the 2 year old Rat Terrier who 'loves to be loved on.' Rory has been living in a foster home as he was too scared to stay in the building. We have been learning more about his temperament and behaviors over the past couple of weeks. His foster mom was able to win Rory's trust easily, but it took some time and treats for her husband to gain his friendship. They did become buddies, though, so we think that Rory will be fine with anyone who is willing to be patient with him. Rory will need a family that will use positive reinforcement to manage his behaviors. His foster mom says, 'He is different. We had an altercation with the ... (Read More)neighbors dog. The other dog did not retaliate. Rory is a super needy dog. Separation issues. No problems with my little dogs, just big ones. No problems with the cat. He does well in his crate in the garage and at night in the house. He chews up every thing when not being paid attention to. We love him and will keep working with him.' If you're interested in providing a calm and loving home for Rory, where he can feel safe and can build confidence, then please call the Rescue at 208-794-0944. Rory is a 2 year old Rat Terrier who arrived from Utah on Saturday. We decided to help Rory when we learned that he was not doing well at his previous shelter because he's so fearful. Thanks to one of our wonderful volunteers, Rory was able to go into a foster home and decompress. He is shy and scared but we just know that there's a beautiful personality waiting to emerge. The first night, foster mom, Jennifer, reported, 'Rory is a totally different dog at home. He is actually pretty curious. Still skittish but he will come over to me at the couch and let me pet him. He was curious enough that I let my other dogs around him and he just wants to play.' By day two, Jennifer says, 'He's approaching today and even getting up on the couch to sit next to us. He did well in the night with the kennel. No accidents. He has been good about going out to go to the bathroom. He is good with the other dogs. Still a little skittish when you go towards him but I think that would fade pretty quickly also. He is a sweet boy.' If you're interested in meeting Rory, please call the Rescue at 208-794-0944. Meet-and-greets will be scheduled through his foster family. *Please contact us for his adoption fee. (Less)

She is not house broken but could be trained easily. She would make a great companion dog because since she is 12 she doesn't need a lot of exercise.     BEAR NEEDS A HOME! What's a guy gotta do to get noticed around here? I mean, seriously, I'm adorable, everyone says so. I'm a perfect gentleman on leash, I love car rides and am happy to be your shotgun buddy. I'm 2 years old so I'm past the annoying puppy phase, but am still young and frisky :) I absolutely adore other dogs, and in fact, need another fun play buddy in my new home! Otherwise I get bored and may do things that humans don't find so cute I guess (chewing, etc...which is fun, but apparently not good behavior...whatever). I'm not a huge fan of cats so no feline friends please. I'm told that I'm a Saint Bernard/Heeler/Spaniel mix, ... (Read More)but I'm on the smaller side at around 90 pounds. I'm currently in boarding and I get to play all day in the doggy play groups! That's so much fun! But I do get kinda sad when I have to go back in my kennel. I was given up because my family thought I would be too big for the baby, but I've proven to be gentle and loving so as long as you watch us together to make sure we are both safe, I swear I'll love your kids. Don't I sound amazing????? You can apply to adopt me at www.saintrescue.org. I'm neutered, have all my shots, and am microchipped! I'm totally ready to go....are you ready???     This pretty little lady is full of it. Full of fun and love and yep just a little bit of mischief. Everything she does, she does with a big beautiful smile and a twinkle in her big blue eyes. She has lots of energy and needs someone active who will take her on hikes, rides, camping and is ready and willing to be on the go. Johna is a bit of an escape artist. She can easily clear a 6 foot fence but we finally have things figured out so she is happy to stay in her exercise yard. We just added a couple more feet of fencing to the top. HeHe :) She is still very thin but we are working hard to get her at a healthy weight and making ... (Read More)progress everyday. She is learning to trust and comes back great when called. She takes treats very gently and just loves to run. She does pretty well with most dogs but can be a little bossy. She does love kids and loves to snuggle. Johna is getting much better on leash and loves to go bye bye in the car. Johna is a Husky/Boxer mix. She is about 10 to 12 months old. Thank goodness her life is taking a turn for the better. From being tied outside in the cold to having a nice warm place and a whole bunch of caring people who want nothing more than to see her happy with her very own loving family. She's not perfect but she is learning and we love her. Johna has been spayed is up on all her vaccinations and she is micro chipped. Personality: Average Energy, Very Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

These two loving animals have lived a rough life and need a forever loving home. They have been in my family for nearly a decade but due to instability they have been moved around and lived in cars most of their lives. Not good around other animals especially small dogs and cats. They are very smart and playful. They love walks and need to be on a leash, they listen well and behave inside the home. Toys and bones are always good to have around. They are both fixed. Perfect home would be a very low stress environment with a lot of love. Thank you for reading.

Boxer    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

FOSTER LOCATION: Boise, ID Sophie is a 10 year old Boxer whose owners could no longer care for her. She's had a rough go of life and this will be at least her third home; we want to make it her last home! She's a great girl with a ton to give and we know we can find just the right family who will love her for years. Sophie is just the sweetest girl and her favorite things always include her people! She wants to be with her humans all the time doing whatever they are doing. She loves to touch you and be touched by you; she's a very 'hands on' type of dog. You want to go? She wants to go with you. You want to lie on the couch? She ... (Read More)wants to be with you. She would thrive in a household with a family that will engage her in all of their lives actives. Her ideal home would be with adults (noisy kids can stress her out) who while they have a quiet life are active enough to take her for long daily strolls (this is required) and maybe light hikes. She has nice manners, knows basic commands such as sit, come, stay, down. She doesn't bark unless there is a loud noise and at that point it is only when she feels the need to let out one or two warning barks. She is crate-trained and house-trained completely. She does not get on furniture. She goes to the bathroom on command at night. Due to her body type and shorter fur, she gets cold in the winter easily and gets overheated in the summer so she needs to be an indoor dog. She is not protective over food and takes treats gently, but she can be possessive over toys. She's extremely sensitive to noise, but doesn't act as if she's ever been abused or physically hit. She loves car rides. S Sophie is so-so with other dogs and horrible with cats; she would do best in a household with no other pets. Sophie is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped. If you feel you can offer this senior girl with a ton of love to give the forever loving home she deserves, please complete an adoption application here: http://fuzzypawzrescue.com/adopt/adoption-application-2/ There is a $50 adoption fee for Sophie (Less)

Sandee is approximately 2 years of age. I am a medium sized and weigh around 40 lbs. I am an energetic girl who also loves to nap. I can entertain myself outside for long periods of the day as long as I have a stash of balls to play with. Belly scratches are my favorite. I have not lived with any other dogs. But, when friends and family bring their pups around I just want to play. Not sure how I would be with cats, because my current humans do not have any. I have been good with the ducks at home though and love to watch them roam. I do know basic commands of sit, stay, come etc'| And I do well when called. I have been trained to sit ... (Read More)and wait when it is meal time. I am kennel trained. My days are spent outside in a large fenced yard and my nights are inside in my kennel. I have not spent much time inside and like to be left alone when in my kennel. Some nights I do not even want to come in, so I stay outside in my dog house which has cover to keep it dry and plenty of hay to keep me warm. I am not a big barker, but I do speak to alert when I see something or someone new. I can be strong willed and would do best in a home with an attentive, kind owner. I do not do well living with young children. I do not understand how to tone down my excitement when I get to play, and can at times be unpredictable. But, I am a sweet girl and love to feel like I am part of your day!! Born in San Antonio and brought to North Idaho. I am a two year old female Mix. I was told my mother was a Mastiff, but have not grown to show these characteristics. I am the runt of an all girl litter of five! I have been spayed and have a micro chip ID and an up to date on shot. I am a medium sized. Please email gingerdog@live.com for an application. Thank you (Less)

We live next to a walking path so Chewy is constantly alerting us to 'intruders' which is fine when we are home because he can come in.     You need to meet this girl to find out what a sweetie she is. Yep she came in just a bit wound up. :) She is calming down and minds very well. She is full of it for sure but she is loving life. She loves to play ball and she's crazy about her best buddy Blaze. They wait by each others door when it's play time and then tear around the field, tails wagging. Life is good. Sye needs an active family. She needs lots of exercise and friends. She knows how to use a doggie door and we are working on potty training. She's not perfect but she's doing very well. Sye really enjoys a car ride. She watches out the window for a bit but ... (Read More)then lays down and snoozes most of the way. Sye is a Chocolate Lab/ Retriever cross. She is spayed, up on vaccinations and micro chipped. Sye is about 18 months old and finally has a chance for the life she deserves. Sye loves kids but would be best with older children. She tries hard to remember not to jump. She just gets so darn excited when she sees someone to play with. Please call Lorrie 208 339 0130 or email kjfam@dcdi.net for an application. (Less)

Abbie is a sweet, five year old, pure bred female German Shepherd. She is great around our family. Very fun loving and protective, but she is not good around new people or animals. She loves playing fetch and getting soaked with the hose. We moved 1 year ago to a rural setting where she is surrounded by new people and especially animals, and Abbie has not been able to adjust. She is fine with my wife and I, and our kids, but she goes nuts when someone new visits. She is fine with our other dog, but she goes crazy if she smells or sees another animal. Pug    Age: Senior

Meet Gus This handsome, 12-year-old senior is Gus. He's got an expressive face and a smile you will fall in love with. As a senior dog, Gus struggles with pain in his joints so he would love a family that will give him lots of snuggles but not ask him to run up and down the stairs. Gus is also partially blind and deaf. As a result, he's easily startled, though he tries really hard to be a good boy. Mr. Gus is potty trained to a potty pad. This sweet guy loves to play with his people by 'hiding' things under his paws and will bow and play growl when you try to grab it back from him. Gus is great with kids. And loves to have conversations ... (Read More)with his people - he will smile when you talk to him and the howl and bark to communicate back. Pug    Age: Adult

Meet Logan Logan, or Logi the Bear as his foster family likes to call him, is distinguished black pug with a silver face. Logan is 7-8 years old and just LOOOOOVES people. In fact, if it was up to him, he'd love to always be near his people so he doesn't miss opportunities to love them! FOMO (fear of missing out) is a good way to describe Logan, he can't miss out on the action there's just too much love to share. For example, he will hangout in the hallway near his foster family's bedrooms until everyone goes to bed before putting himself to bed. All that said, Logan is not overly needy - he's a gentle, loving, sweetheart. Logan would ... (Read More)make a wonderful addition to a family looking for a low-key dog to love. He gets along well with other dogs and cats. He likes kids but would do better in a family with older children who won't be too rough with him since suffers from stiff back hips and legs that cause him to walk a little funny. This loving guy doesn't let stiff back legs slow him down, he's definitely mobile. Logan is housebroken but has a little issue with incontinence - when he gets excited he may have a little poop accident. He loves his people so much that he would never do it on purpose. The thing his foster family loves the most is 'his gentle heart and soul, he has such a sweet spirit.' Chihuahua Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Meet Maggie Mae!!! Maggie entered our rescue months ago and has spent valuable time with one of our rehab fosters who specializes in small dog behavioral issues. Maggie has gone from a terrified and trembling mess who would not voluntarily leave her crate and would nip at anyone who tried to grab her (especially men), to a sweet girl that just needs time to warm up to you and needs a person or couple to respect her and nurture her progress. She now snuggles with her foster mom AND her foster dad, she was terrified of him for some time. It is impossible to know what a horrible past life little Maggie had before she came to us but with the ... (Read More)experienced hand of her foster she has improved leaps and bounds, and is now ready for her furever home to the right family. It is impossible to know what a horrible past life little Maggie had before she came to us but with the experienced hand of her foster she has improved leaps and bounds, and is now ready for her furever home to the right family. We estimate Maggie to be about 6 years old so she has years of spunky life ahead. She had some bad teeth so she has had a few extractions and a teeth cleaning. Maggie is up to date on vaccinations and is spayed. She is potty trained and crate trained. IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Maggie does NOT do well with children of any age and will not be placed in a home with them. Grandchildren must NOT be allowed to come near her. Her stress levels rise and she will bite. Maggie is cat reactive so we will be looking for a home with no cats accessible to her. Maggie DOES do well with other dogs big and small as long as they don't torment or intimidate her. If you would like to adopt Maggie and meet her you must understand that the initial meeting will be awkward for Maggie and may seem like it did not go well. For Maggie we will extend the Trial Adoption period to allow flexibility for Maggie. Her adoption fee is $100. (Less)

ADOPTION PENDING. FOSTER OR ADOPTER NEEDED! Meet Lily! She is a gorgeous 3-4 year old Saint Bernard who was surrendered to us because her family moved from the country to the city and she doesn't have enough room. Lily does ok with female dogs from what I have been told but had a bad reaction to a male dog today. Lily is a hugger and such a cuddle bug. She would love to go on walks, or hang out on the back porch with you, and snuggling on the couch would be peachy. This girl is the sweetest thing. I've been told she is great with cats too. Animal ID: 1728Anders (male)

Rat Terrier    Age: Adult

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Anders is a sweet 3-year-old, who longs to have someone to call his own. Anders is very enthusiastic about life; he loves to play fetch, go for runs or walks, ride in the car, and hang out on the sofa. A big boy of 25 lbs., he'll be a lapful, but think how warm he'll keep you on chilly winter nights. Anders is a loyal boy, wanting above all else to please his person. He also prefers to be with his person and does not do well being left alone for long periods, so he's hoping his adopter will be someone who is retired or can take him to work. He'd likely be a star on the job because he is well-behaved and wins the hearts of everybody he meets. ... (Read More)He is also house trained and usually walks well on a leash. The only time he might jump up on his person would be to give an occasional kiss. Smart and food motivated, Anders could excel at training for obedience or a sport like agility or Flyball, where he could show off his athletic physique. Since he has a healthy prey drive, he should have a large, securely fenced yard to run around in without risk of running off to search for critters. And while he gets along with all the dogs in his foster home, he should not be around cats and would probably chase chickens or small farm animals. See more pics and videos of this handsome, happy boy in his online album at http://imageevent.com/newrattitude/anders . ========================================================================================If you are interested in adopting Anders, please go to New Rattitude's website at http://www.NewRattitude.org/adopt.htm, where there is detailed information and a link to our adoption application. Saint Bernard Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Oso is approximately 3 years old, although he acts younger :) He is said to be a Saint Bernard/Golden Retriever...who knows though? He is a big, cuddly, fuzzy bear. He LOVES to play with other dogs and over the time we have gotten to know him, we have decided that is a must in his new home...another playful dog for him to romp with. He adores toys too and the squeakier the better! Oso also adores children and does fine with cats unless they run, then the chase is on (only for play...) Oso's perfect day would be rolling in the grass, tossing his toys around, playing chase, and then cuddling on the couch to watch a movie. Oh, if he could swim ... (Read More)in there too that would be great. Oso can climb fences so a 6 foot or taller fence with no footholds is required. No chain link fences. She does great with the respectful kids in her Foster family and does well around the cats in the home. Valley is a dominant female and will need a home with one another non-dominant dog or to be the only dog. PIease Read Before Adopting a Dog in Idaho
Dogs can make good pets in Idaho if they match your IifestyIe. Dogs have a reputation for being "man's best friend" for excellent reasons. Dogs are wonderful companions. Many breeds, in addition to being affectionate, devoted members of the family, are useful working dogs and guardians. Most dogs form tight bonds with their humans, and need to be cared for like the valuable family members they are. But sadly, some owners do not live up to the responsibility and involvement it takes to properly care for a dog throughout its life. Dogs can become the victims of neglect or active abuse. Some dogs receive tender, attentive care from their owners, but no longer have a home after their owner passes away or experiences a major life event that makes him unable to keep his dog. There are many more dogs than there are homes for dogs, and dogs that are not spayed or neutered can accidentally produce large numbers of puppies, exacerbating overpopulation. For this reason, three to four million dogs, many of them perfectly healthy and wonderful animals, are euthanized in the U.S. each year.

Many people get excited about owning a new dog, decide to get a puppy, and then pick one out at a pet shop or visit a breeder with a new litter. However, there are so many wonderful, friendly dogs in need of adoption, including puppies and purebreds. Some of these dogs might even be a better fit for a family than a new puppy; for instance, some adult dogs in need of adoption are already housebroken and obedience trained. Adoption is typically much less expensive than purchasing a dog. People who adopt dogs find the experience extremely rewarding, bond very closely with their dogs, and have the added satisfaction of knowing that one less animal has to be euthanized. If your family is ready for a canine companion, please consider adopting a dog!

Dog
lnteresting Dog Trivia Low-Cost Idaho Spay & Neuter Clinics
All dogs, even cute little lap dogs, are ultimately descended from domesticated wolves. There are hundreds of dog breeds with extremely varied characteristics and sizes, from the tiniest teacup Chihuahua to the hugest Mastiff, but all of these breeds make up just one species Canis lupus familiaris and can theoretically breed with one another (although there can be practical and health related constraints.) The dog was the earliest domesticated animal. Dogs are red-green colorblind. Dogs can hear much lower frequencies than humans, over twice as high as humans, and about four times as far as humans.
