Bluetick Coonhound    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Not Good with Cats
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Needs Vaccinations

Hello there, I am looking to help a 9 to 10 month old Bluetick Coonhound that was dropped off at my in-laws Farm. I do not suspect he has received any vet care or shots during his life but he is a very sweet dog that appears in good health. Currently, he is staying outside on a tether with a dog box but, as my in-laws no longer hunt or train hounds, they are unable to commit to taking in such a high energy animal. I would love for him to be adopted out and want to give him the best chance of success. My inlaws would prefer he be trained to hunt but that is optional. Thank you for all of your help, attached is a picture. Sincerely, ... (Read More)Jessica (Less)

Chihuahua Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

What an adorable pair are they not? Sparky and Lilyan do not have to be adopted together but why not, between the 2 of them they barely way 12 pounds put together! Sparky is the little chi boy, he is about 7 years old and is such a happy and spunky little guy. Lilyan is a little scruff of a girl, she is around 9 years old. They both just had full dentals with a couple of extractions but are fine eating dry food, but they really love their soft food or some homemade goodies. Both of them are very happy, loving, get along with other dogs and are pretty laid back for the most part. They are both little dolls but just need an understanding person ... (Read More)to realize they can be a little fearful at first and need a little time to warm up, then look out, you are in for so many kisses and snuggles! For the person that is out of the house more than a few hours a day it would sure pass the time to have a buddy to pal around with while you are away. Lilyan and Sparky love to snuggle in their little bed and would be fine left for a bit. Many of our younger dogs just cannot tolerate being left alone for more than a few ours at a time, but a sweet, laid back senior with a pal would be A-OK. Their adoption fee's are $125 each, or $225 together. Plus a FREE 'chihuahua starter kit' worth over $200!!! Please email Kristine at joysparrows@gmail.com (Less)

We always have around 300 dogs & cats available for adoption and the adoption counselors will help you to find the right companion for your family! Please fill out an online application and we will give you a call as soon as we receive it. Visit our 'Adopt' page to view adoption process steps, policies, requirements and FAQ. View our 'Visit' page for hours and directions to our shelter. We look forward to seeing you soon! Our website is always kept 100% up to date with who is currently available. All new animals (40/week) are added to the site 2 weeks before their availability date to give you time to fill out your adoption application and get the family ready to come out to the shelter that day. As soon as animals are adopted, they are moved to the Adopted Pets page so if they are still listed on the Adoptable Dogs or Cats page, they are still available. Keep any eye on our website for any animals being added as available for adoption as new animals are added everyday! We would recommend if you haven't done so already that you submit a general online adoption application with us so it is on file for when you are ready to come out and adopt. %BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%A0The adoption counselors will be able to show you many that would be a good fit for your family. We do go in order of when you submitted your application with us. So it is always best that you get your general application for any animal in with us as soon as possible. Great Dane Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Pal's Place would love to introduce you to an adorable litter of sweet, shy and gentle giant pups in need of loving families! These sweet babies were born around 3/30/18 and were rescued from rural KY. We are not quite sure what they are mixed with but some pups appear to have some Great Pyrenees in them and all 6 of these guys have rear dewclaws which are a distinguishing feature of the Great Pyr breed. Moxie, Memphis, and Mackenzie look almost identical, have soft fluffy coats and also appear to have some Shepherd in them as well. Madeline and Mugsy have similar fluffy coats but are black in color and look like they could have some Border ... (Read More)Collie in them and their sister Melbourne, the largest in the litter (30 pounds at 10 weeks!) looks like a Great Dane pup. While all 6 pups are littermates and have the same mother, it is quite possible and in fact, likely some of the pups could have a different father. All of the pups currently between 15-30 pounds and are 10 weeks old (6/13) We are estimating that these guys will be in the 80-120 pound range when fully grown and will do best in homes that can accommodate a large to an extra large dog. All of the pups in this litter can be shy at first and will do best in more quiet homes that can help nurture some confidence in them. Please keep in mind that puppies this young need frequent potty breaks (every 2-3 hours) and lots of playtime throughout the day. They'll do best in homes where people are home more often than not. The pups are currently in a foster home on Chicago's north side and can be seen by appointment once an application has been received and approved. The adoption donation to the rescue is $375 per pup. They have been neutered/spayed, are up-to-date with age-appropriate vaccines and are microchipped. For more information or for an application to meet them, please email Palsplace1@hotmail.com Melbourne's adoption donation is $375. This donation helps to cover her spay, initial vaccines, initial worming, and microchip. Pal's Place relies solely on donations to care for the pets in our care. Your donation also helps save other animals like Melbourne from euthanasia. Please email Palsplace1@hotmail.com for an adoption application and please put the name of the dog in the subject line. We place a 2-week medical hold on any puppy that comes to our rescue to do our best to ensure they have not picked up any illness during their stay at the pounds.     Sophie is an-easy-going, sweet and well-trained and well-mannered, six-year-old, 60-pound, fawn and white Boxer-mix looking for a loving guardian. Sophie doesn't enjoy the company of other dogs, but she is full of kisses and tail wags for her human friends. And, she's not one to wake you up in the morning. She's happy to sleep on the couch, in your bed, or on a dog bed and wait patiently for you to wake up. American Bulldog Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Yukon is a fun, energetic and friendly, one-year-old, 58-pound, male, white American Bulldog-mix with brown spotted ears, and bi-colored eyes, looking for a loving guardian. Yukon is very playful with people and other dogs! He is even good with jerky dogs, as he just literally turns the other cheek. He is being fostered with cats and he chases those that run from him. But, if a cat ignores him, they get along just fine. He loves going for walks and rides nicely in the car. When he's had enough exercise, he settles down just fine in the home. He LOVES people and gives plenty of kisses and tail wags. Yukon doesn't know any formal commands, ... (Read More)but he'll do anything for a treat, so he's working on his sit command. He'd love a home with a fenced-in yard to run and play in. But, he could probably do just fine in an apartment as he is quietly crate-trained and housebroken - when taken out regularly. He would LOVE a home with another dog. However, if he were an only dog, he would need to get exercise with doggie daycare or dog parks and play dates with other dogs. He's such a nice dog, he just lacks some manners and likes to jump. So, he's probably best with children over the age of 10. But, Yukon has a great disposition and with some training will make a great companion. Yukon is very healthy, neutered, up-to-date on rabies and distemper vaccines, micro-chipped, heartworm and fecal-tested and on preventative. His adoption fee of $150 benefits the rescued pets of Friends of Petraits. To meet and possibly adopt Yukon please contact sheri@petraits.com for an adoption application. Bloodhound    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Seizures

[Read About Natural Seizure Care] Hi there! My name is Nancy Bogaert. I have a small boarding business in Frankfort IL. One of my clients surrendered this wonderful 5.5 year old neutered Bloodhound boy. I currently foster for the Chicago French Bulldog Rescue, but as you can see he Is just a tad bit bigger than a Frenchie. Trusty is 5.5, Black and Tan bloodhound. He has epilepsy just diagnosed a month ago. He takes 100 mg of pheno 2x per day and he has had no seizures since. He is a beautiful boy. His prior family bought him at A pet store as a puppy. The phenobarbital runs about $30.00 per month. Trusty eats 2 cups of kibble 2x per day. He cannot free feed because ... (Read More)otherwise it is difficult to monitor his weight. Trusty is 100 percent housebroken, wonderful with all other dogs and is not food aggressive. He rides wonderfully in a car and walks beautifully on a leash. I took him to My Vet to have a heartworm test, decal test and update his distemper. since she does vetting for the Frenchie Rescue. I had distemper given. He has had bordatella and is good on rabies until 2019. Doc wants to recheck his liver levels in August. Doc says eyes and ears look great. Trusty is truly a one in 1 million dog he is just absolutely wonderful. His family gave him up is because they have four children under the age of seven. They both work full time and at different times if the day. They simply do not have the time nor the means for this wonderful dog. There will be a $250.00 reigning fee so that I may recoup veterinary expenses and to ensure interested parties are committed to giving Trusty a wonderful home. trusty loves other dogs. He had a canine companion that passed and he was very depressed afterwards. I will only place Trusty in a home with another docile canine companion. Just by virtue of his size...112lbs, he will need to go to a family with no children under the age of 10. Trusty must have s fenced yard. That is non negotiable. I will give priority to homes that would have a sweet canine companion. Trusty loves to swim and plutch in the water, take short walks and take long naps. Please contact me if you are interested in Trusty. I have been doing rescue for quite some time, so Anyone interested in Trusty must agree to a home visit and a Vet reference check.     [Read About Natural Seizure Care] Looking for a home for my 2-year old dachshund. He is a very friendly dog with a great personality. His seizures began in March 2017, and he has been diagnosed as epileptic. He is currently on 3 medications but seizures still occurr every 4-8 weeks. I've had this guy since he was a puppy, but, due to several different factors, I don't think he's getting the proper care and devotion in my home. Please contact me if you are interested.

There will be a sign in sheet on the front door at 8:30 am so that we can pull applications for the people that arrive between 8:30-9am. Again, the order in which adoptions will come in to the shelter to see any adoptable dogs or cats first thing on Saturday mornings will be as to when the application was submitted to Animal House Shelter so there is no need to come to the shelter any earlier than 8:30 to sign in. This will be the procedure for people that arrive between 8:30-9am. After 9am, on Saturday mornings it will be first come, first serve after we help all of the adoptions that signed in between 8:30-9am. Most people submit general applications to us which do not specify a name or a particular litter they are interested in so there is no way for us to know until people arrive Saturday morning at 8:30 how many people are interested in a particular litter, puppy, kitten, cat or adult dog. We always have around 300 dogs & cats available for adoption and the adoption counselors will help you to find the right companion for your family! Please fill out an online application and we will give you a call as soon as we receive it. Visit our 'Adopt' page to view adoption process steps, policies, requirements and FAQ. The adoption counselors will be able to show you many that would be a good fit for your family. We do go in order of when you submitted your application with us.     Meet the cutest puppy EVER, Snoopy! This baby is a big, loving, goofball! Snoop is only around 8-9 months old and a total ham! He's doing amazing working on his basic commands, he loves people, loves playing with other dogs, and doesn't even mind cats (tho he may want to chase them). This cute boy is so easy to fall in love with, its ridiculous! He's still a young boy, and those HUGE paws tell us he probably still has some growing to do even tho he's already pretty big. He'd love a home of his own to grow up in so please share to help him find it!

This man with the big smile is Moe! He's an older guy around 7-8 years old, but he still has a decent amount of energy and a lot of love to give. Moe knows his basic commands, and he's just an awesome boy that deserves to spend his golden years in a home of his own and not a kennel! Moe did well with other dogs, but prefers a home without cats as he's a little too interested in them. He's a joy to be around, and that smile of his could light up ANY room! Please share Moe so he can get out of the noisy kennel and start living the good life!

This little model is Marshall! This sweet boy was brought in to us after being found as a stray in horrible condition. He had a awful rash covering the whole underside of his body, he was terrified, and very underweight. Marshall's rash is clearing up amazingly with the medications he's on, and he's already gained weight and looking great. He's come out of his shell to show us his goofy side, and his loving, snuggly side too! He's such a great boy and he's come so far already! He tested great with other dogs, but doesn't seem to like cats. He's great with people, LOVES food, and he's even learning how fun toys can be. He's leading his basic ...     Meet Loki Black Lab Mix 18 months 45 pounds Woof, I'm an 18-month black lab mix who recently made the long trip from TN to IL looking for my forever family. My foster family keeps calling me Loki but really I have no idea who they are talking about. Great news, we can come up with a name together. I promise I will learn to respond to it, I'm just a bit confused right now. I know how to go potty outside and I sleep in my crate at night and even choose it for naps during the day. I love people of all sized and live with a 4-year-old and a few older kids right now. They are great, more hands to pet me and snuggle with. I have a new foster ... (Read More)dog brother about my age who is so much fun to play with. I love running around in the yard chasing him or playing tug a war with toys as long as there is a nap in my future. I am a pretty relaxed dog if you ask my foster family. I want to be super close when we are sitting down, if you have a lap to put my head or a shoulder to lean on we will be best friends. I realize sometimes I may lean on you a bit too hard and deep inside I know I am a lapdog. My foster family also has some small furry things that run around saying meow, I think they are toys to chase and it would probably be best if you don't have any cats who run away. My foster family introduced me to this thing called a leash, I don't remember ever having used one before but I am trying to figure it out. It is hard because there are so many amazing smells that I want to explore and I am a lot stronger than I realize. If you are looking for a new best friend please come meet me. Our standard adoption fee is $295 cash or check and $300 credit card ($5 processing fee). Rescue Me ID: 18-06-10-00106Koa (female)

Border Collie    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Koa is a very intelligent and beautiful purebred 34 lb. female border collie who is playful, loving, and super intelligent. She also is submissive and fearful. She has the ability to learn tricks or new words extremely quickly. She loves all her numerous toys and will never confuse them for your personal items. She could play catch for hours at the park or in the living room and spends hours chomping down on her favorite ball every day! Her favorite game besides catch is 'hide and seek' and she will playfully run through the house looking for you (when you yell 'ready') until she finds you! She does a perfect sit, stay, down, come, ... (Read More)spin, off, watch, here, wait, leave it, take it, and bed command. She's learned the boundaries of her home and does not run away. She loves car rides and will stay put on the floor for the whole ride. She's clicker trained, knows a couple hand signals, and gives paw, hugs, and high fives. She has an extensive vocabulary so she understands when you talk to her and ask her to get her ball, get in the car, get inside, go potty, etc. She can retrieve certain toys by name and has also had a little agility training. She's eager to learn new tricks and words, has a lot of love, affection, and playfulness to share and needs the right adult home with an experienced patient dog lover that will understand her super border collie sensitive needs. Now for some of the issues she has; With her super intelligence comes behavior issues including showing her teeth, growling and biting. She's extremely sensitive and submissive. She's fearful and scared of garbage trucks and rolling garbage cans so on garbage day she struggles to go outside. She's very protective of her home and sleeping quarters. On the plus side she always has perfect manners when out in public places as she's had a lot of exposure to parks and walks since the beginning of her life. When in public, she adores all children and adults too (sometimes slightly weary of men). She loves playing with other dogs and once she establishes a friendship with another dog, she really enjoys and loves the playfulness and companionship of other dogs. Although sometimes hesitant and fearful to go outside by herself in the back yard, she enjoys daily walks and car rides. She goes potty outside with the 'go potty' command. She has perfect manners in the kitchen as she has never puts her paws on the counter-top or kitchen table for food. She's never stolen anyone's food nor begged for it. She does not chew or destroy things in the house. We can leave her food out for her all day and she will just eat when needed without over eating. She would NOT do well crated (and is not needed) as she doesn't like to come out of the crate when asked. She enjoys finding a place to curl up in the house and does not like to be removed from her safe spot. This is a dog for someone experienced with submissive herding dogs and not for a novice dog owner or a family with young children as she has guarding tendencies, fearfulness and she will bite. There is a lot of love in her current home for this dog as she really is special, extremely intelligent, easy to train new tricks, wants to please, and is a lot of fun. We are looking for the right owner who understands the extreme side of sensitivity and fearfulness in border collies. (Less)

Urgent! Thor needs a foster or adopter so his life will be spared. He is at a high kill shelter that is full and dogs are being killed. Pauly followed a girl home on a run and was brought to the shelter. He is so loving and is really searching for a family to love him. He is as cute as he can be, with his two front legs being all white to match his belly, which goes perfectly with his ornage coloring. He is small/medium size and walks well on a leash. He seemed very appropriately interested in other dogs, and lit up a bit as they passed by. This is his leash test with another dog: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nJVzv6Y2Og8 Please save his ...
