Remi is a sweet and lovable, high energy dog. He loves to hunt, swim,play ball, and go for boat rides. He has had extensive hunting and obedience training at the Minnesota Horse and Hunt Club. Sleeps through the night in bed, sheds little, loves car rides, we live in town we are able to let him out without even leashing in town, tail docked, neutered, friendly, you can hold him like a baby. Comes, stays, shakes, high fives, stays when told, comes running when told, takes treats and food kindly, plays tug-a-war, great with kids, plays well with other kind dogs, potty trained, likes to fetch not very good at always returning stick, but if you say drop he will drop item, never been around cats. I am asking $100 rehoming fee to make sure Gunnar goes to a good home, it is a male. Prefer someone who is home a lot. My child is six and is rough with him and Gunnar doesn't mind. Must be able to live in home not an outside dog. Would do very well with a stay at home mom or dad. He would need to be kenneled but prefers being tied up. He is not a dog that can stay in your home unattended due to him not liking being alone. The only reason we are rehoming is due to I started working and husband travels. So the thing about this dog is he needs a lot of attention and does not like being by himself (his only quirk) =) In our home he is NOT wild or high energy like most weims, lays on couch, loves napping very much a lap dog. 70-75lbs best house dog ever!!! To be honest Gunnar is a wonderful, kind, fun dog his quirk is being alone a true best friend he will Not leave your side. Gunnar has been around numerous people. Pictures do not do him justice!!! Weimaraners are not an independent breed and love to be with their owner never leaving them alone. This can create very severe separation anxiety in the breed. The causes of separation anxiety are not always known but there are precluding factors including, genetics, litter rearing, dominance, submission, boredom, and stress. Weimaraners HAVE severe separation anxiety can destroy property or injure themselves in trying to escape. Good training has curbbed some of the separation anxiety. Separation will not be from us only when he is alone. Hunter is a people dog. He is happiest when there is someone home with him! He likes to play fetch and enjoys being outside if he has company. He is housetrained (actually sandbox trained outside), does not go on the furniture, can walk on a leash (though he still pulls when you first start walking because he is so excited), and is used to being around kids but we don't have other pets. Hunter does not have a kennel and is allowed to be out and about in the house when no one is home. He behaves himself, but just to be safe put the toilet paper and soap up. We use a collar now to prevent ticks instead of Frontline. He does get ear infections about 4-5 times a year, usually seasonally (like allergies in people). Dogs can make good pets in Minnesota if they match your IifestyIe. Dogs have a reputation for being "man's best friend" for excellent reasons. Dogs are wonderful companions. Many breeds, in addition to being affectionate, devoted members of the family, are useful working dogs and guardians. Most dogs form tight bonds with their humans, and need to be cared for like the valuable family members they are. But sadly, some owners do not live up to the responsibility and involvement it takes to properly care for a dog throughout its life. Dogs can become the victims of neglect or active abuse. Some dogs receive tender, attentive care from their owners, but no longer have a home after their owner passes away or experiences a major life event that makes him unable to keep his dog. There are many more dogs than there are homes for dogs, and dogs that are not spayed or neutered can accidentally produce large numbers of puppies, exacerbating overpopulation. For this reason, three to four million dogs, many of them perfectly healthy and wonderful animals, are euthanized in the U.S. each year. Many people get excited about owning a new dog, decide to get a puppy, and then pick one out at a pet shop or visit a breeder with a new litter. However, there are so many wonderful, friendly dogs in need of adoption, including puppies and purebreds. Some of these dogs might even be a better fit for a family than a new puppy; for instance, some adult dogs in need of adoption are already housebroken and obedience trained. Adoption is typically much less expensive than purchasing a dog. People who adopt dogs find the experience extremely rewarding, bond very closely with their dogs, and have the added satisfaction of knowing that one less animal has to be euthanized.
