Rescue Me ID: 16-06-23-00166Justice (male)

Beagle Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Justice is a sweet sensitive little beagle mix boy about 1-2 years old and only about 20 pounds. He has had a rough start in life. He is scared of people when he first meets them and requires time to warm up. He will eventually warm up to his people, but any affection he wants remains on his own terms. He feels most safe to approach his people when they are sitting down or lying down. Justice is an awesome cuddler and loves to sleep with you. Even when he has been around his humans for a long time, he will still pee out of fear when approached. He is scared of loud noises and quick movements, so he will need a quiet calm home with no ... (Read More)kids under 12. If there are kids in the home, older teenagers would be best. Justice loves other dogs and gets his confidence from them, so he must have a young playful dog that will play with him and be his best friend. He is very attached to his current foster brother. Justice is also good with cats. He is completely housebroken and uses a doggy door. If there is no doggy door in his new home, he will need time to adjust to a new potty schedule. He can be trusted to be left out in the house, although he will chew on things he's not supposed to occasionally, which is normal for a young dog. Justice loves to investigate his backyard but will need a secure fence as he will dig. He likes toys and nylabones. He is still scared to walk on a leash but with time, I'm sure he will learn that walks are fun. Justice needs and requires a safe, loving, patient, quiet, calm home where he can continue to learn that the world is a safe place and that he can only expect to know love and kindness for the rest of his life. He is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, had fecal test, heartworm tested and on preventative and microchipped. He is also on monthly flea/tick preventative. Treeing Walker Coonhound    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Hi everyone! I'm Sadie, a little over a year coonhound mix and I'm a hoot! I'm still a youngster so I am a little rough around the edges but hey, what hound pup isn't? A newbie to my foster family, yet they say I am pretty awesome, especially since I'm housebroken! I'm understanding commands, words and learning to walk really well on a leash. In the beginning I was kind of like a drunken sailor, happy and all over the place, but every day I'm doing better with this leash thing attaching me with my person. Pretty soon, we are going to start running together. I love to run. In fact, I'm faster than a gazelle. My legs are so long and ... (Read More)really graceful. I'll tell you a little secret: my sweet, kind heart and bright IQ really wants to make good choices but that hound pup in me sometimes leads me astray. The struggle is real, folks. Sometimes I get so excited, I jump. We are working hard to correct that tiny flaw. I'm not a house wrecker and haven't gotten into any real mischief. My bedtime routine includes sleeping with my foster family teen or in my dog bed in her room. She says I have the cutest snore. My foster mom says I have bionic hearing and I'm quite curious. I'm always following my foster family around. When I am in my kennel for dinner & relaxation, they play music for me to chill. Playing with toys and look for bunnies & birds in my backyard is exhausting. If I am outside, I really love to have company. In fact, I love to be around people, big and small. I do pretty good with dogs, but need to be introduced slowly. If a curious, family fun-loving, potential for hunting dog is what you need in your life, then I am the gal for you! (Less)

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Hi! My name is Pi and I'm a Plott Hound, which is the state dog of NC! As you can see I am so cool that my name is a symbol or the best summer time dessert ever! My favorite things are to snuggle, go to the dog park and run around with all my friends (which is everyone!) and hurdle my foster sister because she is so short! I am fixed, house broken, create trained and have a deep bay that I rarely use but will, to help protect the house from bad guys (and occasional mail men). I love other puppies and I would be great for an active family. I think with a little leash training, I would be a great running companion because when I'm not ...     Trinity was born on 3/3/16. She flew to Omaha from Tennessee on Pilots for Paws. Trinity knows the sit command and is working on Come. She is not house broken yet - she knows she needs to go, but has not figured out how to ask. She will kennel up at night and sleeps through the night. During the day she will kennel and has not had any accidents, however has not been kenneled for more than 6 hours since her foster mom is home most of the time.     Ruby is a rescue that we have had for a year. She has some unpredictable aggressive behavior and needs to be rehomed because of it. Her current home has a toddler and a new baby, and she just started displaying aggression with kids. My vet says she really needs to be with someone that has experience with rescues, as we do not know her history prior to the last year when she was found as a stray. Rescue Me ID: 16-06-15-00058CHARLIE & MOLLY

Shih Tzu Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Adult Women Only
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Fixed, Vaccinations Current

Charlie and Molly are a ridiculously cute duo who happily served their patriotic duty as loving companions to a heroic World War II veteran and a military nurse of the Korean and Vietnam wars who rose the the rank of Brigadier General. Sadly, the advancement of age and physical debilitation finally prevented this retired military couple from caring for Charlie and Molly as they deserved, leading them to their final brave and very bittersweet decision of allowing this sweet pair to find a new happy ending with a family who will love and tenderly care for them for the rest of their days. Their previous owner's final words as we walked out ... (Read More)the door with Charlie and Molly were 'Thank you! Now that we know you will assure Charlie and Molly will stay together, and be well taken care of in their new home, we can go in peace when that day comes knowing they are happy and loved!' Could you be that family who honors the final wishes of 2 military veterans of war, those Tom Brokaw refers to as 'The Greatest Generation' who were born and raised during the economic depravity of the Great Depression, bravely served our country in time of war, selflessly cared for the wounded and dying, and went on to build the greatest country the world has ever known? Charlie can only be described as a sweet 'Momma's boy'. He follows his foster mom's every move, always with a happy smile on his face, is the first to eagerly greet her at the door, and insists on snuggling with her at every opportunity, including in the big bed at night. He loves his daily walks, and is perfectly leash trained! Molly is a playful, happy, little girl, who engages in play with any dog who will reciprocate! She likes men and women, but definitely has a preference for her foster dad, and quickly became a 'Daddy's Girl' in her foster home. She walks well on lead when she is in the mood (lol), but after all, she is a princess so what more would one expect? Charlie is a strikingly handsome Brussels Griffon-Shih Tzu Mix, approximately 8-9 yrs. old, and currently on a 'Doggy Biggest Loser' regimen to get down to a healthy weight of 15 lbs. He is doing exceptionally well with a strict diet and daily exercise routine, resulting in an average weight loss of 1 lb. per week. We are confident he will soon reach his weight loss goal! Molly is an adorable, petite black & white Shih Tzu approximately 8-9 yrs. old, and weighs 11.5 lbs. This little princess is a tiny girl, who could lose another pound or two to regain her perfect girlish figure, so is also on a diligent weight loss program. As is common with many dogs, Molly has dry eye so will require eye drops several times per day for the rest of her life, but this is very inexpensive, and Molly is very patient making this an easy to do daily routine. CHARLIE AND MOLLY ARE LOOKING FOR A FEMALE ONLY HOME as Charlie can be nippy with men. Perhaps he deeply misses the man in his previous home so will not bond with other men, or he had a very bad experience somewhere along the way, but to assure everyone's happiness, only a female household will be considered for this awesome little duo! They are spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccinations, heart worm negative, on heart worm preventative, and micro chipped. Keep in mind that we prefer to place dogs within driving distance of where they are being fostered. If someone from outside the local area is approved for adoption, they must be willing to fly in to get the dog and that can only happen if the dog is stable enough to travel in the cabin with the passenger.     Spike is good in public with adults and kids but not sure in a home setting as there are no kids in our home. He does well with little dogs but gets aggressive with large dogs. He is loving but seems to be fearful when you raise your voice. He is very jealous of our other dog and tries to push in and keep the other dog from food, toys and affection. He loves to dig in the yard and mark anything (even in the house) if left unattended too long. He gets motion sickness and does not do well in the car. He has a sensitive stomach and eats grass in the yard several times a week.

I do not leave him alone in the house. He is great with children 5 and older. He doesn't do well with other dogs. When we got him we were told he was great with all kids and dogs unless he was being dominated by other dog. We have a child that is 2 and he can't walk next to him without being growled at and that is why he is needing a different home. He loves car rides and walks.

Bulldog    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Very Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Here is Marvel. He is a pure bred Olde English Bulldogge. He is not short like a traditional English Bulldog. He is about knee height to an average woman. He is current on shots and at his last vet visit weighed 100 healthy pounds. He is just 4 years old and has been a member of our family straight from the litter. He loves to play and run in his backyard. He's often chasing bunnies around. He loves fireworks and the snow and is very protective of his property and home. He can sit, lay down, high five, and shake on command. Though he doesn't much like to be told what to do. He really shows an Alpha type personality and doesn't much care for ... (Read More)the children in his life. He currently has a cat brother and they get along okay, though he does try to boss the cat around too. Marvel would do well in a home that does not have young children. Marvel thrives on attention from adults. Teens would be fine too. He would not do well in a home with someone who can not physically handle a 100 pound dog. If the door bell rings you can expect he will need you to physically move him to another area so you can greet guest or just get your delivery pizza ;) *We will not rehome him to a family with children under 10 years old. Please do not inquire if you often have children in your home under 10 years old. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-04-13-00408Riley (male)

Beagle Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Heartworm Positive

**ADOPTION PENDING** Hi Everyone! My name is *Riley and I guess I'm a handsome man. I'm not sure what that means, but my foster mommy tells me all the time I'm her handsome man. When she calls me that, I roll over for belly rubs b/c I know she's going to rub my belly, and I LOVE that! I'm between 2-3 years old and I'm looking for my forever home. I'm living in a busy house, with kids and other fur siblings, and I do great with all of them. I have two foster brothers and three foster sisters. I'm a quiet guy, (and handsome, too) who is completely fine with letting any/all of my foster siblings be in charge. I'm learning how to play with ... (Read More)them, and it's so much fun. I love to run and play with them in the yard, especially my nine month old foster sister. She's teaching me all sorts of fun doggy things to do in the yard (like how it's fun to chew on sticks and play with my other fur siblings). Foster mommy won't let me run around too much though b/c she tells me I'm heartworm positive. She also tells me I'm handling treatment like a trooper and will be ready for adoption when I'm all done with treatment. I'm not sure what this heartworm thing is though b/c I feel really good and I'm so happy to be able to just be a young dog doing all the doggy things I can. I don't know what my name was when I came to my foster home, but I've learned that my new name is Riley and I come when I'm called. I know what 'no' means and I learned 'sit' in a couple of days. I also know that I'm supposed to go potty outside, and I always do that. Foster mommy is teaching me about this thing called a kennel. Even though I don't really like it so much, I will go in with some slight encouragement and a treat. I also eat my meals in there and have learned that my kennel is a safe place and that it's ok once I get in there. I just lie down quietly and wait for foster mommy to eventually come back and let me out. I don't really bark too much, even though my foster siblings do sometimes. When mommy tells them no, and to come inside, I come inside, too. I also come when she specifically calls for me! Mommy tells me that I'm supposed to gain some weight b/c I was skinny when I came to her home. I think I'm doing good at that b/c now I'm eating all of my breakfast and dinner and mommy tells me 'good job' and then she tells me I'm her handsome man. Boy, I must be really handsome b/c she tells me that a lot. %BD%81S I'm kind of a timid guy; I want to be a playful puppy, but I'm still learning about humans and that they are good to have around and that I can trust them. I really want to please my humans, so when I see them, especially foster mommy, I will approach in a somewhat guarded yet submissive stance. I wag my tail at all of my family, and now that I am getting to know all of them, my tail wagging is so happy that I have a super wiggly butt when wagging my tail. I will usually roll over right away to show my belly and that I'm no threat. I've also learned that I get lots of belly rubs that way, and I LOVE belly rubs. Did I already tell you that? I kind of get a little scared if someone raises there voice, even if it's not at me. I very much want to make my humans happy b/c they are so good to me. I'm just still trying to learn that I can trust them. Foster mommy tells me that I am so handsome and sweet that I will be a good match with just about any family. I get along with all my fur siblings, I learn things quickly, I don't bark too much, I've adjusted to the business of the household, and I'm fine if it's quiet, too, I come when I'm called, I have not yet learned the finer art of this thing called begging that mommy tells my fur siblings to 'stop that', I love belly rubs, I ride quietly in the car, and although I am still timid, mommy says that I am coming around to not being so afraid of loud noises and sudden movements, and most of all, I am a handsome man-mommy says so and I've learned that I can trust her so it must be true. I would like to find my furever home! Can it be you?! %BD%81S *Riley has not yet been neutered. He will undergo that procedure once his HW treatment has been completed. (Less)

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Seizures

[Read About Natural Seizure Care] Hi my name is Gus Gus!! I am the spunkiest 8 year beagle you will ever meet. I love to sit for hours at the front window and talk to all the neighbors/walkers but I get in trouble because those darn bunnies are very chatty. I am house broken, and in fact my foster mom is surprised I have never had an accident - never ever! I go into a kennel when my family is away because this darn nose of mine gets me in trouble otherwise. I go outside on a leash without any issues but, walking on one I am still working on. I am just so excited leaving the yard. I am thinking I might not be good with cats because they ... (Read More)are too fuzzy but, I am ok with those tall things called kids. Right now there is a 12 and 15 year old here and I really like them. It could be because they feed me lots of treats. I especially like the 12 year old because she shares her bed with me a night. I don't know how to fetch but show me a treat and I will show a few really cute things I can do. I have had a few health issues (small mild seizures) but I am working on those and you might need to be patient with me. Are you someone that I can lay my head in your lap, talk to the neighbors and call home? Gus Gus is current on vaccinations, HW negative, neutered, and micro chipped. (Less)

[Read About Natural Seizure Care] At 8 years old, Stanley may be on the older side, but don't let his age fool you. He is all beagle! Stanley's favorite things to do are sniff out an interesting scent, play with his canine foster brother and sister, toss around and chase toys and patrol the backyard, keeping it safe and secure. While not excessively vocal, he does like to alert you when people or dogs are walking by. Like many beagles, Stanley is very focused on his food, and sometimes sneaks a taste of his foster siblings' dinners. Stanley is a gentleman with the human toddler in his foster home, though if he's presented with a snack at ... (Read More)snout level, he will quickly take advantage of it. Although Stanley enjoys a good romp around the backyard, he is also happy to curl up on the couch or dog bed in the evening for a good snooze. He's a great balance of energy and mellowness. Stanley does has occasional, mild seizures. He recently started medication to control them. Stanley is current on all vaccinations, HW negative, neutered, and micro-chipped. (Less)

Dachshund Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Hi there! I'm Kizzy, I'm a 10-month-old Chi-Weenie. People say I'm aptly named because I'm KISSY! They say I'm a little French, which doesn't make any sense to me because I'm Dachshund (German) and Chihuahua (Mexican). My owner gave me to the rescue because he didn't have enough time for a puppy. I'm up to date on all my shots, neutered and microchipped so you'll never lose me! Since my previous owner was a male I tend to gravitate towards males, but I'll share my puppy love with anyone with a face! My foster dad has been working with me to build my confidence, especially around big dogs! I tend to talk a lot but that's because I have a lot ... (Read More)to say. Everything is so new to me but my foster parents are teaching me when its acceptable to talk and when its quiet time. They introduced me to this weird thing called a leash but I honestly would rather ride on your shoulders. When they go to work I get to stay in my kennel, which isn't my favorite thing but with more use I think it could be a safe place for me. I've also been working on potty-training, sometimes I just get so excited I pee a little though! My foster mom thinks I'll grow out of that with time. Will you be my forever home? I promise to snuggle you, play with you (and any family dogs!) and protect you from the mailman and garbage man! I will need a securely fenced yard and ideally another dog to play with, after all I have a lot of puppy energy! Small children might be a little bit intimidating for me, and since I'm only eight pounds, I'm a little fragile. If you have the time and energy to teach me so my confidence will soar, I will love you forever and share my kisses with only you (ok, I'll probably still kiss everyone else too, but come on! I'm just that cute!). Suggested adoption donation for Kizzy is a minimum of $400 which goes toward the high cost of veterinary care for our rescue dogs.Wag N Train Terrier Rescue adopts only to people living in states neighboring Nebraska and requires the adopter to travel to Omaha, NE to pick up their newly adopted dog. Treeing Walker Coonhound Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Duke is NOT a beagle. %81S We think Duke might be a Majestic - a bloodhound/coonhound mix. His size sure fits. At 95 lbs, he's a BIG boy! Like so many dogs who find themselves in rescue, he had a rough beginning and found himself in an Alabama shelter. Lucky for Duke, a fantastic rescue (US!) saw him and thought he needed to come check out the view from up North. Though Duke had never been inside a house before, he's adjusted quickly. In less than 24 hours he figured out that crates are a nice place to snuggle in for a nap or a night, and thought he no longer requires crating at night, he will crate up easily when his foster mom needs to be ... (Read More)gone. He is reliably house trained to a doggy door. Though he is a hound, he is very quiet in the house and only bays outside when he sees other dogs. He is uninterested in the resident cat (though Mr. Kitty lives upstairs and only sneaks onto the stairs to taunt the resident dogs). Duke also loves his foster brother and sister coonhounds, and is always looking for someone to play with. Wrestling with his furbrother Wyatt is one of his favorite things! Duke loves people and is terrific with kids (though due to his size, he will be too much for a home with small children). His foster mom calls him a velcro dog! His favorite things are chewing on his Nylabone or rope toy (which he doesn't mind sharing), going walking with his person, and playing outside. He is still working on basic commands and house manners. He is doing very well walking on a harness leash, and his foster mom says the one she is using will go with him since he's done so well with it! We estimate Duke's age to be 3-4 years old. Duke is at a good weight, neutered, up to date on all vaccinations, and is micro chipped. He will benefit from a family willing to continue to work with him on his basics, and would love a home with another young dog who likes to play as much as Duke does! If you're ready for a great big hunk of slobbery hound love, then Duke may be your man! (Less)

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

**ADOPTION PENDING** Meet Bo, an honorary hound! Bo is one awesome dog that will make someone a loyal friend for life! He is approximately 2 years old and weighs around 50 pounds. Bo was listed as Beagle and looked like a Beagle mix in his shelter picture, but it is suspected that he has American Bulldog and/or American Staffordshire in his genes. Bo came from a high kill shelter in Memphis, TN. He is very smart, goofy, loving and is a fantastic cuddler! Bo has the most adorable large head that makes you want to kiss it and very soft fur. Bo is a strong dog and will require an owner who will be in charge. Bo would do great in ... (Read More)obedience classes. He is already learning sit and knows not to jump on people. Bo is crate trained during the day and goes in with no problems, and he loves to snuggle with his humans in bed at night. Bo is housetrained and dog door trained. Bo is a strong chewer, so he does best with strong nylabones, kongs and other strong chew toys. Bo does well with children of all ages and gets along great with other dogs. Bo needs a home that is cat free as they just resemble prey to much! Bo would do best with a fairly active family unless they have a dog that loves to play as much as Bo does! Bo does great in cars and just lies down and snores. Bo is quite the snorer. Bo has had many changes in his short life and deserves a forever home where he can relax, be forever loved and spoiled. Since Bo may have some Bully breed in him, it is recommended that home owners check their insurance to make sure the breed is allowed and any renters check with their landlords about potential breed issues.     Bella is a beautiful 1-2 year old pitbull mix that I saved off of death row in a high-kill shelter in Kansas back in August of 2015. She has been in foster care for the past 8 months with very little interest. She does not do well with female dogs, little dogs, or cats because of her prey drive. She is amazing with male dogs with an even temperament. I think with the proper training she could blend with females and cats, but it would take time. She LOVES people, especially children. She is higher energy but still loves to cuddle at the end of the day. Loves belly rubs, lives to play ball and run around in a back yard. Please help this ...     Maddie is a sweet little 4 year old female westie that has come from a commercial breeding facility. Rescue Me ID: 16-02-26-00462Dawson (male)

Great Dane Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Heartworm Positive

This guy has had a tough go of it. He was adopted 2 years ago from Corpus Christi AC, a little less then 2 years later he was returned because his owners were moving and he is now HW positive, so thanks for that going away present irresponsible owners. We believe he is about 3-4 and is a Great Dane and Lab mix. Dawson came from TX where he was in a couple different foster homes because the resident dogs didn't like him. Finally we brought him up here and he has been with a wonderful foster in CO since. She's going out of town at the end of the month so he needs a new foster or better yet an adoptive home stat. Dawson has been around dogs ... (Read More)and children with no issues or even slight concerns. He did show some toy aggression at one foster home however his current foster has been working with him on that. He is Heartworm Positive and is on slow kill treatment. He uses a dog door well, he previously kenneled with no issue although he's currently giving his foster fits with it he just doesn't like to be contained, he was also loose in the home without issues at previous fosters (as long as obvious precautions were taken, no food on counters, etc.), he is house trained although he may mark at first but with calm correction he stops, he loves to play, especially with balls, however he can become fixated on them so I would suggest use with moderation. We can also provide training exercises to help with the issue. We believe because of being moved so much he is suffering a little bit of separation anxiety that will subside as he gets feeling more secure about his surroundings, we can also help provide you with some tips for that. Also, it seems when he was neutered one testicle hadn't dropped, and the vet didn't go in and get it, I have never heard of a vet doing this, it can actually cause a lot of health issues, however Dawson was lucky and he's fine as it dropped. Although we are 99% sure he is sterile, no point in taking the chance, he will need neutered again, which we will cover. Anyone in the CO/NE/WY area interested in helping this handsome lug? (Less)

GPPR adopts in the states of NE, IA, and MN. Hi, I am Gaia. My personality is just starting to emerge, I have been with GPPR for two weeks now and I came from a bad situation. I did not know what it was like to be part of a family, or even how to be a dog. I am slowly starting to learn that humans are ok, and I will even come sit by my foster mom now for a little while, as long as the TV is not on. I just graduated to not having to wear a leash all the time in the house. I am still working on my housebreaking. I can still get confused where I am supposed to take care of my business. I have started eating with my foster sisters and I LOVE ... (Read More)the couch in the back room where I can look out the window. I came from Alabama, so this is the first time I've experienced snow'| and I LOVE IT! I'm adjusting to living in a house really well, I am housebroken, and kennel trained, although I do not really care for it. I love everyone I meet and enjoy resting my head on your lap while I lean on ... (Read More)you. My ideal home would have a fenced in backyard so I can let my natural hound instinct work and sniff out all the bunnies and squirrels I can find. I would love a family or even just one person to call my own. I do bark a little bit, but that is just to let you know I would like to go outside. Please consider letting me into your life, I promise I will become your best friend and will provide you with love and entertainment with my little quirks! Winnie is spayed and micro chipped. Definitely better than the first 7 or 8 years living in a crate. I took to my new life pretty easily, sleeping on my first couch my first night with them. I'm all about the belly and ear rubs. The more the better! Going for walks is a favorite of mine. I try to smell all the things, but I'm not too hard headed about it. That's also when I do my business, most of the time;) Snuggling is a must, I fall asleep on dad's lap all the time. If not, I'll be happy just being curled up near my people. I've ...     Jack is nimble, Jack is quick, but we keep him away from the candlesticks! This friendly 4 year old Shepherd/ Chow mix is good with people of all sizes and loves to be petted. He prefers female dogs to males and would do best as an only dog. He hasn't spent any time around cats, but would likely chase them. Jack enjoys learning new things. He already knows how to sit, stay, lay down, shake and come when called. It took him less than 10 minutes to learn to go through an agility tunnel! Jack's ideal family would continue his training and include him in their daily activities. He would love to be someone's running or walking partner. Could ... (Read More)Jack be the one for you? PIease Read Before Adopting a Dog in Nebraska
Dogs can make good pets in Nebraska if they match your IifestyIe. Dogs have a reputation for being "man's best friend" for excellent reasons. Dogs are wonderful companions. Many breeds, in addition to being affectionate, devoted members of the family, are useful working dogs and guardians. Most dogs form tight bonds with their humans, and need to be cared for like the valuable family members they are. But sadly, some owners do not live up to the responsibility and involvement it takes to properly care for a dog throughout its life. Dogs can become the victims of neglect or active abuse. Some dogs receive tender, attentive care from their owners, but no longer have a home after their owner passes away or experiences a major life event that makes him unable to keep his dog. There are many more dogs than there are homes for dogs, and dogs that are not spayed or neutered can accidentally produce large numbers of puppies, exacerbating overpopulation. For this reason, three to four million dogs, many of them perfectly healthy and wonderful animals, are euthanized in the U.S. each year.

Many people get excited about owning a new dog, decide to get a puppy, and then pick one out at a pet shop or visit a breeder with a new litter. However, there are so many wonderful, friendly dogs in need of adoption, including puppies and purebreds. Some of these dogs might even be a better fit for a family than a new puppy; for instance, some adult dogs in need of adoption are already housebroken and obedience trained. Adoption is typically much less expensive than purchasing a dog. People who adopt dogs find the experience extremely rewarding, bond very closely with their dogs, and have the added satisfaction of knowing that one less animal has to be euthanized. If your family is ready for a canine companion, please consider adopting a dog!

lnteresting Dog Trivia Low-Cost Nebraska Spay & Neuter Clinics
All dogs, even cute little lap dogs, are ultimately descended from domesticated wolves. There are hundreds of dog breeds with extremely varied characteristics and sizes, from the tiniest teacup Chihuahua to the hugest Mastiff, but all of these breeds make up just one species Canis lupus familiaris and can theoretically breed with one another (although there can be practical and health related constraints.)
