Looking for a sweet, gentle girl to join your family? Look no further! Daisy is 3 years old, and about 65 lbs of beautiful, brindle Am Bulldog. Her ideal home would consist of adults, and maybe a dog about her size. Kids make her a little nervous, and small dogs are just not her cup of tea. She walks nicely on a leash, is very food motivated, and super smart! Her signature greeting consists of sitting and offering you her paw. Who can resist that? She is spayed, and all up to date on her vaccinations. If you would like to meet this great girl, contact laurelsilvia@comcast.net. Daisy is being fostered in Kingston NH.

Brent arrived just a couple of weeks ago after being picked up by one of the telephone repairmen as he made a call out in the county. Brent jumped right into the man's truck and was ready for a ride. Not seeing a house locally that might possibly be his home, the man brought Brent into town and contacted our rescue. No one has claimed him to date although he was well cared for and loved. Brent has been neutered, is testing heart worm negative, and will be current on vaccinations by Halloween. He is approximately 9 - 12 months old and currently weighs approx 40 lbs. You won't meet a more friendly or loving pup than Brent. He immediately ... (Read More)comes up to you to lick your hand and will give you kisses if you move in closer. He has been used to being loved and will curl himself around your leg for you to hug or pet him. Rarely barks and is friendly with other dogs and cats. He is smaller in size and that makes him a favorite of the kids. Not hyper or rambunctious, he just seems to enjoy your company and hanging out. More on the laid back side, but would be great for a busy family or individual. Working on leash training and house training at this time. He is a gorgeous dog in his black and white coloring and looks like he is dressed for a black tie event. I think you could take him anywhere with you. He loves riding in the car or truck. Don't miss out on this wonderful guy.     Colorado is almost 3 years old, 60 pounds, and he loves dogs, cats and kids..he's a friendly mush. He is good with kids, as well as cats and dogs who have a submissive personality. He enjoys life!He loves belly rubs, adores good food, and loves to play! He will do well with someone who is experienced that he can look up to and respect. He is somewhat curious when meeting new people but warms up nicely. Colorado didn't have the greatest start in life, it is believed he was abused. He sure has come a long way from the past.     Harriette is a year and a half. We are guessing her breed to be a boder terrier mix. She is crate trained and house broken. Beagle Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Low Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Benny is a 6 year old beagle mix. He is up to date on all his shots, neutered and gets along great with his foster siblings. We think Benny may have spent most of his previous life outside in a kennel. He is learning about crate training and housebreaking. Benny would do best with a family that would have someone home most of the time. Benny gets extremely attached to his people and prefers to hang out with them every chance he gets. He shows no interest in his foster's cat. Due to Benny's age we think a family with older children would be best.

Beagle    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Low Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Arthritis

Annabelle is a sweet older beagle. We are guessing her age to be between 8-10 years old. She loves to snuggle up with her people. She enjoys leisurely walks around the block, nothing too strenuous as she does have significant arthritis and takes mild pain medication and glucosomine for joint support. Annabelle is both crate trained and housebroken. Due to Annabelle's age, we think older kids would be a better match.

Animal ID: 00337TOVA (female)

Lab Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Tova is a young (less than year old) spayed female chocolate lab mix. She has a ton of potential, and her energy will serve her well with an active family. Hiking, skiing, swimming- Tova is up for it all. She will need to be taught the finer points of basic manners, since her last home ignored her need for them. She is a very outgoing forward dog, so she will do best with an owner experience in setting limits and holding her to them. The reward will be a faithful and loving companion.

Rescue Me ID: 14-10-20-00197Cricket (female)

Great Pyrenees Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Spayed

Cricket is one of our newest pups here at the farm and she is quite a stinker. Born of a backyard breeder to a feral mom, whose purpose is to be a livestock guardian dog and have babies. The litter of pups were never handled until the day they were caught to be 'sold' This girl and her 2 brothers were terrified and bit out of fear. I have never had puppies covered in lice, but these babies deserved so much more in life. It took an hour to bathe and kill the unwelcome parasites and then another hour just combing with a very fine tooth comb to rid them of these remaining parasites. We put coconut oil on her skin as it was so pink from ... (Read More)irritation of being chewed alive. She was miserable, but with antibiotics, good food and the oil, this girl did not take a 24 full hours to realize people aren't so bad after all. She is out of a full blooded Great Pyrenees mix. We expect Cricket will be a good guardian to her family or even on a small farm, but we will only let her be adopted to a family who is familiar with this breed. She is going to be a very large girl, which means she could top 80-100 lbs. Cricket is a talker. You talk to her, she will talk back sometimes. She is just 7 weeks old now, but she is growing. Personality plus too. She loves her humans now and likes to play with She is being fostered on our small farm in west Tennessee and is around chickens, horses and other puppies. She will not be ready for her new home until November 3, but she will be current on all age appropriate vaccinations for parvo, distemper, influenze and bordatella. She will be micro chipped and be current on her monthly flea prevention and worming schedule. If you'd like more information on Cricket, please email us. We have more photos of this beauty as well. Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Needs to be Neutered

Ossie is in foster care, and has been a wonderful animal to care for. He is one of the easiest dogs to care for. At ten years old, he LOVES to walk, particularly in the woods or on a quiet street walk; he walks beautifully on a leash. Very sweet although a bit timid, he warms up quickly. He is hard of hearing, although does respond to his foster mom when called. His eyesight is not 100%, so he is best on a leash; he does not pull at all and is a delight. Great pet for someone interested in an older animal with a very sweet disposition.

Rescue Me ID: 14-10-08-00047Harper (male)

Siberian Husky    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Not Good with Cats
Personality: High Energy, Submissive
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Needs Vaccinations, Fearful/Anxious

Harper's birthday is May 13th, 2010. He is a four year old purebred Siberian Husky with his own Facebook page because he's too photogenic to not take pictures of. But before you conclude that he is some perfect specimen, think again. Harper comes with a wide array of issues, and has been described by his vet as the equivalent of a 'special needs/mentally challenged child.' I'm sharing his story with you today because this isn't an advertisement, this is a life that means more to me than my own. I got Harper at about 12 weeks old when I was in high school. I had researched and studied huskies, their needs, and their behavior for years as I ... (Read More)searched for a companion. I was naive. My grandfather found Harper- the last of his litter- in an Uncle Henry's. The breeder was hasty to find him a home and reduced the price down to next to nothing when she met me and my Grandfather and best friend when we ventured out to get him. I thought this was purely kindness until we got home. I noticed he was more timid than a normal puppy. After sleeping in a crate at my bedside for a few nights, he developed a quick bond with his new 'mom-' but the other members of our household had to wait about a month before he warmed up to them. And even then, much longer to treat them with the closeness he had with me. I walked him daily and introduced him to new people every day- and every day his response was utter fear. When someone would ignore him, he would grow curious enough to approach them- but if they expressed any intrigue in him, he would bolt. It was odd to me. He wasn't anything like 'timid' or 'skittish' dogs that I'd met before. Sometimes simply a group of girls yelling 'husky puppy!' a block away would be enough to make him pee (or sometimes poop) himself in horror. It was heartbreaking. I tried everything I could find online to make him more comfortable- but to no avail. His vet ultimately advised me to encourage patience to those that met him, as he was definitely the equivalent of a mentally challenged child and needed special care. She confirmed what I had known from day one- Harper was no normal puppy. He was petrified of running water directed at him and hardly motivated by treats. He was easy to train, but didn't enjoy fetch as much as chasing the other dogs that played fetch. He would warm up quickly to a human with a dog but couldn't be more horrified by a human on the same sidewalk as us, alone. He has made immense progress- it used to take meeting someone up to a dozen times before he liked them- now, by the end of a person's first visit with him, he is often comfortable and cuddled up beside them. Cuddling is on his own terms. He is only a lap dog when he wants to be a lap dog. He can be bathed now without screaming bloody murder. He even begs once in awhile for a treat. He's come so far. I'm sharing this with you because no one who isn't patient enough to know who he is could ever be patient enough to love him as unconditionally as he deserves to be loved. Around his birthday this year, we brought him to the vet after he had been breathing abnormally and lethargic, and found out his was in heart failure with fluid around his heart and lungs. They tapped the sac around his heart to release the fluid and relieve the pressure. It wasn't a pleasant expenditure but without this, he may have died by the morning. It was so hard to see him go through that. Ultimately, we may never know if this was just a fluke thing or if he is in the beginning stages of heart disease. There has been no recurrence in the symptoms in five months- that's an excellent sign. But that doesn't mean anything definitively. In August, my grandfather succumbed to many illnesses and we all lost our rock and the most caring man on earth. I had to leave home and have been homeless for three months. My family home may be lost, and either way Harper cannot stay there any further. I plan to move out to the west coast hopefully in about 6 months, but as I try desperately searching for a warm place to spend the Winter, I know that I can't drag him alone on this terrifying venture. Selfishly, I wish I could find someone to foster him for six months until I can bring him into a stable environment with me. Realistically, I know that I couldn't afford to board him indefinitely. It's also unfair to put him through any more stress and anxiety. I'd be happy to find him a home that he will be loved patiently and unconditionally in. If you have read this novel and feel like you may be exactly what Harper needs, please reach out to me. I'm not interested in money if you're looking to adopt him permanently. I'm interested in knowing that he will be cared for, provided for, and loved. If you may know a way or person I could go about reaching to foster him through, I would be willing to pay whatever I can towards knowing that he is safe and healthy for the Winter. Whatever your story is, you kept reading for a reason and I'd love to hear from you (Less)

MEET VERN IN CONCORD, NEW HAMPSHIRE! If you would like more information, please contact Cristen at emmaresq@yahoo.com If you are interested in adoption please fill out our adoption application at www.brusselsgriffonrescue.org Vern is a very sweet and very energetic 1-yr-old boy! Vern is SUPER sweet, affectionate, house-broken, crate-trained and very good with kids and other dogs. While Vern has a lot going for him, high energy and separation anxiety have made it difficult for him to find the perfect forever home. His energy level and separation issues were just too much for two former families to handle. Vern needs a forever home ... (Read More)where his family will have LOTS of time to focus on him. While he is fantastic with kids, Vern would probably do best in a home without young children, due to his desire to be the center of attention. Vern would love an energetic 4-legged brother or sister to play with, but he might be a little too much fun for a chill senior dog. If Vern is going to be an only-dog, he would like to be taken to the dog park or have opportunities to socialize with other pups regularly. Vern would like to have a very active life - he's looking for an active family that will have plenty of time for playing, walking, running, etc. He has really enjoyed obedience classes and would love to continue taking training classes in obedience, or rally. Vern would also be a terrific agility dog! Vern is neutered, 13.5 lbs, micro chipped, up to date on his vaccinations and is on flea & tick and hear tworm preventative. Vern is being fostered near Concord, NH. Keep in mind that we prefer to place dogs within driving distance of where they are being fostered. If someone from outside the local area is approved for adoption, they must be willing to fly in to get the dog and that can only happen if the dog is stable enough to travel in the cabin with the passenger. Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament

Charlotte is a 2 yr old female black lab mix. We're fairly certain there's some greyhound too, as she is long, sleek, lean and fast! Charlotte will need a home that understands the split personality of a dog that wants to be a couch potato some of the time, and run full out the other times. She's quite good on leash and responds wonderfully to the Easy-Walk Harness. Charlotte is fully Vetted. She's very well put together, sound in all her joints, and has a beautiful expression. Charlotte is good around children and other dogs.

Hi! My name is Harley and I am a beautiful 5 year old Red-Nose Pit Bull with a sassy princess attitude ;) I was surrendered by my previous owners who were not able to care for me any longer. It's been hard for me to understand why I don't get to be with them anymore, but my foster family has been giving me lots of love and attention which has made it all a little bit easier. My 12 yr old human foster sister has become my BFF, she and I have the princess demeanor down pat! I didn't get out much with my old family so I do get nervous when around a lot of people, I'm realizing that I can trust other humans outside of the home but I'm still a ... I've learned to live with them. Though my foster family does not have any dogs of their own I am not their only foster dog! There's actually been a few foster dogs visiting while I've been here, and though I have a bit of my princess attitude (this is Harley's world you just live in it) when I first meet them I do warm up to them when I realize that they are no competition for my princess status ;) I can't wait until I have a family of my own again, being part of a family is my absolute favorite thing. I'm spayed & up to date on all vaccinations, I'm here waiting ready when you are to become part of your family! (Less)

Linda is a 1 1/2-2 year old Doberman/Sharpei mix weighing approximately 65lbs. She was saved from a high kill shelter (where she was a staff favorite) at the last minute while being pregnant. She went into her foster mom where she gave birth to a litter of 10. Her foster mom feel in love immediately as this beautiful girl just wanted to constantly give hugs and kisses. She had surgery to correct cherry eye in both eyes so that her future home would not have to incur any expense from this. Despite the cherry eyes and pregnancy, she remained a sweet and loving dog. Linda lived in her foster home with a 90lb dog, a 15lb terrier, and 2 large ... (Read More)pitbulls and did great with all of them. She played all day with the small dog and was submissive to the rest of the pack. She wanted to play with them but knew they didnt want to play with her and she respected that. But that was ok with linda because she would find ways of entertaining herself. He foster mom would find her playing with her puppies, laying out sun bathing, or just laying down next to her foster mom playing with a toy. She really loves to play with toys and Nyla bones. She also enjoys eating carrots. Beside being a ball of love, this girl knows sit, down, paw, and walks great on a leash. She is not crazy about going to her crate, but with a nice piece of cheese and a Nyla bone or toy she will go right in and stay quietly. When she is outside she mostly just lays out on the grass with a toy, plays with her small dog friend, or plays fetch. She hasnt met a person she didnt love! This girl will make a great addition to any family that is looking for a loving pet with a playful attitude. ARNNE supports the rescue/critical care/boarding expenses of local town/city animal control officers that otherwise only have authorization to vaccinate or euthanize. Every life is precious but it takes funds to save lives. Adoption fees rarely cover the expenses of rescuing, boarding and providing exemplary medical care to the animals in our program. All animals have had a thorough exam, are treated for any parasites or infections, spay/neutered, current on vaccines and micro-chipped. For more information, please fill out an adoption request form at www.arnne.org. Email or call the shelter at 603-233-4801 and a volunteer will return your call. Lab Mix    Age: Young Adult

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Chatham is an energetic two-year-old (approximate age),male, lab mix. He is neutered, fully vetted, and up-to-date on all his shots. He is crate trained and house trained. He is friendly with other select dogs his size, but is more interested in chasing after cats than playing with them. He has not been around children before, but is very loving and friendly to all humans he meets! He is extremely loyal and loves to cuddle up on the couch or bed with you. He loves to play fetch and go for car rides too! He minds very well and knows the commands: sit, down, stay, heel, catch, drop, and stop. Chatham was enrolled and completed a boarded ... (Read More)training program through Saddleback Pet Services in New Hampshire with Nancy Fantom, Owner/Trainer. She worked with Chatham a great deal on his leash manners and behavior with other canine pals. Although the training was successful, Chatham needs a dedicated family that is willing to work with him and continue his training at home. He now has FREE training sessions for the remainder of his life with Nancy, so she is able to aid along with this process when needed as well. Since Chatham is so loyal it was discovered later on that he also has some separation anxiety. Currently, this is being treated with medication and behavior techniques, but a dedication to conquering this is essential too. Currently, Chatham resides with his foster Mom and Dad in Massachusetts and has been with them for about eight months now. They are unable to keep him permanently and are determined to find a wonderful family that will love him just as much as they do! Please contact ashley.ohearn@gmail.com or laurelsilvia@comcast.net. Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament

We pulled dear, sweet Hank from a high kill shelter in TN. We think he is around eight years old. He is in great shape for a guy his age. He has a beautiful, thick, healthy black coat. He LOVES to play fetch. Don't let his age fool you, he still enjoys some activity! He is OK around other dogs but would love to be the center of your world. He seems to be hesitant around young children, unless they have a ball in their hand and then he is their best friend. 'Just throw that ball' is what he is thinking. He is such a wonderful boy who is so happy to be loved on.

INTENSE FOCUS! That's what an athlete needs, right?? Well, if you're the athletic type, I'm your girl! What's your game.......Agility? Disc Dog? Flyball? I can excel at all. Show me something once, and I'll remember. I'm that smart! Talk about a training dream dog....... While I am a cutting edge athlete, I have a softer side as well. I LOVE to snuggle and give puppy kisses. I enjoy nice long walks, but if you have a fenced in area where I can retrieve tennis balls for you, I'm all set. PIease Read Before Adopting a Dog in New Hampshire
Dogs can make good pets in New Hampshire if they match your IifestyIe. Dogs have a reputation for being "man's best friend" for excellent reasons. Dogs are wonderful companions. Many breeds, in addition to being affectionate, devoted members of the family, are useful working dogs and guardians. Most dogs form tight bonds with their humans, and need to be cared for like the valuable family members they are. But sadly, some owners do not live up to the responsibility and involvement it takes to properly care for a dog throughout its life. Dogs can become the victims of neglect or active abuse. Some dogs receive tender, attentive care from their owners, but no longer have a home after their owner passes away or experiences a major life event that makes him unable to keep his dog. There are many more dogs than there are homes for dogs, and dogs that are not spayed or neutered can accidentally produce large numbers of puppies, exacerbating overpopulation. For this reason, three to four million dogs, many of them perfectly healthy and wonderful animals, are euthanized in the U.S. each year.

Many people get excited about owning a new dog, decide to get a puppy, and then pick one out at a pet shop or visit a breeder with a new litter. However, there are so many wonderful, friendly dogs in need of adoption, including puppies and purebreds. Some of these dogs might even be a better fit for a family than a new puppy; for instance, some adult dogs in need of adoption are already housebroken and obedience trained. Adoption is typically much less expensive than purchasing a dog. People who adopt dogs find the experience extremely rewarding, bond very closely with their dogs, and have the added satisfaction of knowing that one less animal has to be euthanized. If your family is ready for a canine companion, please consider adopting a dog!

lnteresting Dog Trivia Low-Cost New Hampshire Spay & Neuter Clinics
All dogs, even cute little lap dogs, are ultimately descended from domesticated wolves. There are hundreds of dog breeds with extremely varied characteristics and sizes, from the tiniest teacup Chihuahua to the hugest Mastiff, but all of these breeds make up just one species Canis lupus familiaris and can theoretically breed with one another (although there can be practical and health related constraints.)
