Rufus is a stunning male boxer mix, and at 80lbs he is a lot to handle. He is a year and a half years old and was rescued in September 2012. Rufus was not fully socialized as a young pup and used to herd cattle. He is wonderful with the family, and loves to snuggle and hang out on the couch, but he needs to be carefully be introduced to new dogs and new people. Waylon is a gorgeous Catahoula Leopard dog with great markings. Although I am not 100% sure, I believe he is a purebred. He came to us from an abusive situation about 4 years ago- he is now 6 years old. His previous owners left him with an embedded collar and a timidness towards people (mainly adults). He has gotten much better since being with our family, but is still shy with new people and just takes a little bit to get to know you. He does great with children (all ages), gets along with our other dog, and has never shown any signs of aggression (he is a good watch dog and will bark if something is out of the ordinary). American Bulldog (mostly, if not all), about 8 years old, 55 lbs. Frenchie is the sweetest most loving dog - wonderful with people, very gentle and just wants to be petted, brushed, cuddle and give kisses. She prefers to be with her people all day long, but has shown no anxiety and hasn't destroyed anything when I leave the house. I don't crate her when I leave, either - she has the run of the house and access to the fenced in backyard through the doggie door. ₯ She is fully housetrained and rarely barks. ₯ Frenchie is very welcoming to all people - walking right up to them, expecting to be petted. ₯ She will not get on the furniture, ... (Read More)unless you give her permission. She does not jump, so anything higher than 18 inches, she may need help getting onto. ₯ She loves to go on walks and is great on a halter and leash. She will pull hard on a neck collar, but not much, if at all, with her halter. ₯ She is a strong dog and should only be walked by an adult. ₯ She starts out her walks at a trot, but quickly slows to a mosey so she can smell everything. ₯ She does not beg at the table, but if you leave food on the floor, her nose will eventually find it. ₯ I believe she is somewhat hard of hearing, but if you call her name when you are standing near her, she will look at you for directions. ₯ She loves to go on car rides. ₯ She tolerates baths and stands patiently for them. Her breed has sensitive skin, so bathing should not be frequent, but she should be brushed daily. ₯ She tends to drool when she is really excited and if you are making her food. ₯ She can be a real goofball when the mood strikes her - she'll chase her tail and hop around with her stuffed moose in her mouth. When she's in a silly mood, she may pick up a piece of paper and rip it or 'go shopping' for stuffed animals to carry around. ₯ She hasn't done any digging in the backyard, but loves to follow her nose around. ₯ She is a bit of a door dasher - simply because she wants to come with you. Medical: ₯ She is very calm at the vet. ₯ She is spayed, chipped and up to date on all vaccinations, rabies, flea and tick control and de-worming. ₯ She is heartworm positive, but asymptomatic, so we are doing a 'slow kill' by keeping her on heartworm preventative. ₯ She has had a full blood workup on 5/16/13 and is very healthy. The only yellow flag is that her kidney enzymes are on the high side of normal and a mini-panel of blood work should be done in 6 months to keep an eye on it. It may resolve itself once she has had a chance to be on a consistent diet. Feeding: We give her 2 cups of Science diet mature formula lamb and rice twice daily and one glucosamine daily to keep her joints from getting stiff. Background: We adopted Frenchie from the Wake County shelter. She was brought in as a stray, was fostered and was a volunteer favorite. They told us she was great with people (adults and kids) and that she was good with other dogs. She gets along fine with our male Jack Russell Terrier, and she's fabulous with the kids, but female dogs are another matter. She is very excited to meet new dogs - ears up and tail wagging - but she quickly gets in the other dog's personal space and is given a 'back off snap' by the other dog, she will be aggressive and go in to bite the other dog. We have 3 female dogs and lots of kids within a few houses in our neighborhood and after Frenchie went after one of the dogs (after the owner allowed his dog to walk up to Frenchie, knowing that they didn't get along), we have to find Frenchie a new home. Ideal home: ₯ One with people who are home a lot and/or wouldn't mind taking her with them where ever they go. ₯ She should be an only dog or carefully introduced to a male dog, but kept away from female dogs and cats. ₯ She is an inside dog but needs steady access to a decent sized fenced back yard. She is older and does like to be able to go outside to potty on a regular basis as most of us mature ladies do. ₯ She loves having a soft doggie bed and blankie on the floor to snuggle in at night. ₯ Walked daily, but not rushed. This is not a dog that can go jogging with you. She comes with her medical records, new pink halter and leash, her glucosamine supplements and her stuffed moose. This is Darbie! We adopted him from the Hendersonville, NC Animal Shelter on March 14th, 2013. He's a sweet 4(ish) year old male German Shepard mix. He is current on his vaccinations, and is in amazing physical health aside from idiopathic epilepsy. The seizures are not harmful, and he is taking Phenobarbital (Approx 90MG twice a day). He's very submissive and shy around other animals, but loves them all the same. He's made himself at home with our 4 cats and can be routinely be found sleeping with them or cleaning them. The vet informed as that, aside from the very recent seizures, he is in perfect health. My wife and I both work, and we have two young children, so we are looking for a loving individual to give him the extra TLC he needs. We will provide his medication (6 month prescription), his tether and 30' tether, harness, nylon and metal link collar, and his big water bowl. All documentation will be provided as well as he has been fully vaccinated and neutered. Teddy is a very sweet dog who was dumped in a park and got by on his own for almost a month, staying one step ahead of the dog catcher. Several neighbors worked together and finally caught him. He has now been neutered and dewormed, microchipped, and has had his first round of doxycyclene for heartworm (the slow-kill method).
