Meet our boy, Cruz! He is just 2 years old and weighs 9.3 lbs. He is a mix of Chihuahua and a wire-haired terrier (Jack Russell possibly). He's white and tan in coloring. Cruz came into Puppy Pals Rescue from a shelter in another county. He came from a bad situation and was surrendered to the shelter. Once with PPR, he was taken to our vet to have his shots updated and be heartworm and fecal tested (both results negative). He was also micro-chipped and neutered. PPR is currently working on his house/crate/leash training and learning house manners. He is a very active dog who will require lots of exercise. Cruz's ideal home would be with ... (Read More)a young couple or active single person. He would be a good running partner. He definitely requires a fence. He loves to run, jump, and play. He seems to get along with all the other dogs his size. If you have any questions, please contact the foster home at the link found at http://puppypalsrescue.com/Dogs_Cruz1834.html. Rescue Me ID: 18-06-22-00328Brantley (male)

Pit Bull Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Hi there. My name is Brantley. I'm about 1 year old and I weigh about 45 lbs. I was picked up by the pound from the Leetonia area and am now looking for a loving new family. I am a little shy at first with new people until I know I can trust you, but once I get to know you, I am a very sweet and loving dog. I get along well with most other dogs and I like to play. I am a very clean boy. I seem to be completely housebroken. If you're looking for sweet little boy to add to your family, please consider adopting me. Our adoption fee is $120.00. The adoption fee must be paid in CASH. We are unable to accept personal checks or credit/debit ... (Read More)cards for adoption fees. ALL dogs/puppies adopted from our shelter will receive their parvo distemper vaccine, bordetella vaccine, rabies vaccine (if aged at 12 weeks or older), be dewormed with a 3 day course of panacur dewormer, be microchipped, receive their current Ohio dog license and will be spayed or neutered. ALL DOGS/PUPPIES WILL BE SPAYED OR NEUTERED unless a health issue prohibits the surgery from being performed. Not all dogs posted for adoption are spayed/ neutered yet. If you're driving a long distance to adopt, please verify that the vetting process has been completed and dog you're interested in adopting is still available for adoption. The above mentioned vetting is all included in your adoption fee. The adoption fee and what is included in the adoption fee is NON-NEGOTIABLE. Adoptions MUST be done at the pound and in person as there is paperwork to fill out and an adoption contract that must be signed by the adopter. This means you must be willing to travel to our shelter to adopt. IF the dog you're interested in adopting has medical conditions or injuries which require medical treatment, we ask that you help with the medical bills so we can continue to help the dogs coming in who need additional vet care. We are a county run shelter, therefore we cannot control our intake or the health or behavior of the dogs that come in to our shelter. Although we try our hardest to place all of our adoptable dogs, there are certain circumstances in which any dog in our care could be euthanized at any time and without further notice (IE: sudden untreatable medical condition or injury, temperament or behavioral problems which may not be apparent when the dog first arrives, lack or space, etc.), therefore all dogs at our shelter should be considered urgent. The adoption of a more highly adoptable dog will mean more time for the less adoptable dog in the kennel next to him! Shelter hours are: Monday-Friday: 8 am- 4 pm Saturday: 9 am- 12 pm. The pound is CLOSED to the public on Sunday. There is nobody in the office on Saturday and Sunday, so therefore we are unable to answer or return phone calls over the weekend. Can't adopt a dog? We would love to have more volunteers who are able to spend time with our dogs! The dogs LOVE going for walks and the socialization and exercise helps make the dogs more adoptable. Animal ID: PPR18-50Jet (male)

Poodle Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Meet our Jet! He is a black poodle-mix who is 4 years old and weighs 14 lbs. Jet came into Puppy Pals Rescue when we were notified that he was at a shelter up North and needed our help. He was an owner surrender who said he peed too much; but, refused to neuter him or attempt to take him out. We sprung Jet out of the shelter! He did well on the trip back to Beavercreek. Since being with PPR, Jet was taken to our vet's office for an examination and received his shots, was heartworm and fecal tested (both results negative), micro-chipped and scheduled for neuter. He is now neutered and ready for a forever home. We continue to work on ... (Read More)his house-training and he's doing much better. We feel that since he was neutered this might make a major difference. He doesn't mind wearing belly bands if this is an option. He goes outside to potty just fine. He will sit and give you high 5. Jet is a happy go lucky fella! He loves to be around people. In our opinion, Jet was owned by someone who didn't take the time or effort to train him. He is a very sweet and handsome guy. He loves to cuddle. He does appear to be crate and leash trained. He does require being let out often and probably can't 'hold it' more than 6 hours. He really needs a fenced-in yard. He does great in the car. He has made some nursing home visits and did great. Jet enjoyed all the attention and pats on the head. Jet would fit into a family very well. He loves attention and the energy that children can bring to his life. He will need you to continue his house-training and possibly attend an obedience training class (if able). Jet hasn't been with larger dogs and at times can be alpha to other males his size. If he was to be a 2nd dog as a companion, it might be best if the other dog was a female. If a male, we would have the dogs meet and get to know one another to see how they get along. Jet adjusted very well in his foster home and has been a pleasure to have around. He's a wonderful dog! If you have any questions, please contact the foster home at the link found at http://puppypalsrescue.com/Dogs_Jet1850.html. Fill out an application if you are interested in adopting this pup. You can find those at http://puppypalsrescue.com/Applications.html. (Email the foster home and let them know you applied so they can be sure the application is received!) (Less)

Animal ID: PPR18-49Bubbles (female)

Chihuahua Mix    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Meet our little Bubbles, 'Dog of the Month' for June on Fox 45 'In the Morning'. Bubbles is a 9 years young, 6.5 lb. female Chihuahua who is white with black/grey mixed color on her sweet little face. She is a love bug! Bubbles came into PPR as an owner surrender due to unfortunate circumstances. She has adjusted very well to her foster home who just adores her. Since coming into Puppy Pals Rescue, all her shots have been updated and she has been heartworm and fecal tested (both results negative). She has also been micro-chipped and a needed dental was performed with a few resulting extractions. Her foster home has noticed that ... (Read More)she seems to bond with women better than men. She loves attention and would do better with someone who is home most of the time. She seems to do better on a leash to go outside to potty and needs to go out more often. If she is in her crate, she's not able to hold more than 4-6 hours. She loves to sit by you when you are watching TV - or even better - in your lap. She enjoys rides in the car and has gone on several nursing home visits and loves when the residents show her attention. They all love Bubbles! Our observation is that Bubbles would do best being an only dog or a companion to one that is similar in size and age. She does not like larger dogs. Bubbles hasn't been around children while in our rescue. She probably would be fine with children over 6 years old - just for her own safety due to her size. She is one of our dogs that doesn't require a fence, but it would be preferred. She must always be on a leash for her safety. If you are looking for a sweet little senior girl - Bubbles is a winner! Bubbles will be your shadow once she gets to know you. She is a very happy little girl who deserves a wonderful forever home. If you have any questions, please contact the foster home at the link found at http://puppypalsrescue.com/Dogs_Bubbles1849.html. Fill out an application if you are interested in adopting this pup. You can find those at http://puppypalsrescue.com/Applications.html. (Email the foster home and let them know you applied so they can be sure the application is received! ) (Less)

Personality: Average Energy, Very Submissive

'HULA' & 'TRIXIE' are 2 adorable, sweet, little 'pocket Labs' we rescued that are best friends. Hula is 1 to 2 yrs old, yellow & cream, weighing 33 lbs. Trixie is about 1 yr old, black with a white patch on her chest, and 30 lbs. Hula is a cuddler & sweetly outgoing. Trixie is initially shy & skittish, but if Hula likes you, Trixie will gradually warm to you (especially with treat incentive). After acclimation period, they are a loving & fun duo, that compliment each other's personalities. Trixie needs Hula for confidence building. Hula's owner had a stroke and Hula was left behind at the house. A good Samaritan reached out to us to save ... (Read More)her. Trixie was rescued from a very high kill pound. Hula & Trixie have been fostered together. Hula & Trixie are both spayed, fully vaccinated, de-wormed, on monthly heart-worm preventative, house-trained and crate trained. All of our rescued dogs have been on a nutritional regime which includes high quality food and supplements (ex., pro-biotics; vitamins, etc). Ivy is a very sweet girl and pretty laid back most of the time. She is shy at first but very loving. She gets along well with the other 2 dogs in her foster home. She has not been around cats that we know of. Ivy will be 2 years old in September. She is crate trained and her foster family is working on house training and basic obedience. She walks well on a leash and does not pull. And she really loves to snuggle under a blanket next to her human. Personality: Very Low Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

I rescued Zeus from a home in Kentucky for a couple that said they were Rottweiler trainers. (They weren't) He has lived outside his entire life with his brother in a tiny area with no love or social interaction. He was becoming aggressive toward his brother and has shown that he shouldn't be around other dogs without training. He is a sweet big boy. The couple that wanted him quickly realized that he needs to be the only dog in the home and after an hour said they were going to put him down if I didn't get him. He is good with me but, I have 2 dogs. I had him fully vetted and heart worm tested (neg) This boy needs a chance at a good life! I ... (Read More)have him at a pet resort now and for the last week he's getting a well deserved vacation but I can't afford to keep him there much longer. The resort says he's doing well! My vet says it would be more humane to put him down verses putting him in a shelter situation. Please only contact me if you are willing to work with him and will not have him around other pets or small children. (Less)

'CAMILLE' is a gorgeous, 1 to 2 yr old, 60 lb. female German Shepherd that was rescued from a very high kill pound. Camille's story is a sad one. Her Mommy owner died from cancer, and th e deceased woman's husband did not want any pets, thus taking Camille and the 4 cats to a high kill pound, and surrendering them. Camille was both heartbroken over the death of her human, as well as confused and sad to find herself in a strange, bad energy environment of a pound. Camille was rescued and getting love again from her foster Mommy. Camille is a great girl. Beautiful, sweet, loving, gentle and calm. Still a little thin, and we are getting good ... (Read More)groceries into her, but per the Vet, was well taken care of by her late owner. Camille is a jewel of a girl. She is well mannered inside a home, with no destructive tendencies. Camille has no issues with other dogs but could also be an only dog in a household. Camille is fully vaccinated, de-wormed, on monthly heart-worm preventative, house-trained and crate trained. All of our rescued dogs have been on a nutritional regime which includes high quality food and supplements (ex., pro-biotics; vitamins, etc). This is done to bolster their immune systems and overall health; the result benefits their adoptive family with a pooch who has a lustrous coat, bright shiny eyes, and happy and healthy disposition.     Sophie is such a good girl who will be 2 years old in September! Her foster mom says she may come across as a bit shy at times, but she makes herself at home very sweetly, calmly, and quietly. Rescue Me ID: 18-06-14-00290Angela (female)

Redbone Coonhound Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Health: Spayed

Hi there. My name is Angela. I'm around 2 years old and I currently only weigh about 45 lbs, but I should weigh closer to 75 lbs. I ended up finding myself at another shelter, and though they certainly tried their best to find me a good home, staying at their shelter for so long took it's toll on my mind and body. They called in and asked for some help with me, so I came here. I seem to like it here well enough. I am eating great. I love all of the walks and attention I get from staff and volunteers. I also love all of the treats and extra goodies I've been getting to help fatten me up some. I am a very intelligent, sweet, loving dog! I ... (Read More)have quite apparently been someone's house pet at some point in my life. I know how to sit, shake hands and lay down on command. I keep the inside part of my kennel clean. I absolutely love humans and getting love and affection. I get along well with most other dogs, but because I am very hungry, I should be fed in a separate area. I am really hoping to find a new home soon. I will make someone a wonderful companion! Please consider giving me a chance to be your new best friend. Our adoption fee is $120.00. The adoption fee must be paid in CASH. We are unable to accept personal checks or credit/debit cards for adoption fees. We were house dogs with our previous owner and we are even said to be housebroken. We all do a great job of keeping our kennels clean at night. We get along with some, but not all other dogs, ... (Read More)so we will need to meet any new dogs we would potentially live with. My siblings and I absolutely love each other. If you're looking for a sweet dog to add to your family, please consider adopting me. Our adoption fee is $120.00. The adoption fee must be paid in CASH. We are unable to accept personal checks or credit/debit cards for adoption fees. Denver and Rocco are 2 very friendly dogs. They are great with kids and adults. They have both been neutered. We found Denver about four years ago on our front doorstep and nobody claimed him so we took him in. We wanted a companion for him so we found Rocco on craigslist about a year after. He has tracked coon before, my daughter has just lost interest. He is trained to come and walk on a leash. He listens very well. We want him to go to a home where he will get a lot of attention and is not stuck in a kennel all day every day. He has beautiful markings and also has one blue eye and one brown eye, so he is very unique! He is a great dog!

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Personality: Low Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Raylan is a wiggly, dancing, excited to see you kind of guy. Though this happy Shih Tzu is probably around 10... he plays ball like a puppy and is also a total snuggle bug! He has so many great qualities like he does great in the car, loves his crate, and enjoys going for a walk. Raylan does GREAT with other dogs and would be best in a home that had a friend he could spend his time with. Raylan takes a little while to get to know someone but once he trusts you, he's the sweetest little 9 pound guy. He has been known to growl to give a warning when he is uncomfortable and will snap at someone if they push their limits. The funny thing is... ... Do you like lazy summer nights with lots of snuggles? Or simply reading a book by a warm fire with the company of a best friend at your feet? Well then let me introduce myself. My name is Benny. I'm currently living with my foster mom and dad in Ohio and I'm a five year old fawn colored Bullmastiff, neutered, microchipped, and UTD on shots. I have two human siblings ages 7 and 5. My foster parents have a farm that allows me to observe lots of different animals, such ... (Read More)as chickens, swans, ducks and cats. I'm very curious of their presence but I just want to watch them from afar. I love playing with my furry brother and sister Gemma, the German Shepherd and Titan The Bullmastiff. I love going for walks and playing ball, and also enjoy sitting on the dock with my foster dad in hopes I get to sniff the catch of the day. I will walk beside you off leash if you have a fenced in yard. I love meeting new people. My favorite snack is frozen blueberries and Bullysticks. I don't get on furniture and would prefer to sleep in my crate at night. Would you consider adopting me? If your family would like to provide me with the home I deserve, please complete the adoption application at http://www.bullmastiffrescuers.net. My adoption fee is tax-deductible and I am being fostered in OH. However, don't let my location be a barrier. If you think I am the bullmastiff for your family, BRI can arrange my transport! (Less)

I also seem to be good around children. I have had a full dental and ended up needing all of my teeth extracted since coming in to the pound, so my little underbite is all gone. If you're interested in meeting me, call the girls here at the pound first to set up a time where my foster can bring me down. If you're looking for a sweet dog to add to your family, please consider adopting me. Our adoption fee is $120.00. The adoption fee must be paid in CASH. We are unable to accept personal checks or credit/debit cards for adoption fees. Animal ID: PPR18-CLFife (male)

Beagle Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Neutered

Fife was a stray who was rescued 4 months ago and now is ready to find a new, forever home. He is probably about 2-3 years old. He was recently neutered. He is medium-size for a Beagle at about 28 pounds. I am pretty sure Fife was a dumped hunting dog - he was still wearing his orange plastic collar when found. He has been through some rough times - it has taken a little over 4 months to help him learn that not all humans are bad and to get him healthy enough to go to a new home. Health Status: Fife came with a multitude of parasites and bacteria and has gone through several rounds of treatment. His last 2 stool samples have been ... (Read More)negative. I think he is in the clear, but a new owner should recheck within the next few months to be sure. He had severe infections in both ears, but has had 2 negative ear swabs. He was severely anemic and it took quite a while for his RBC count to start rising. His last blood work was low normal for RBC. He tests Lyme positive, but shows no signs of Lyme disease. He was treated with 30 days of antibiotics 'just in case' and so I could represent to any potential adopter that he had been treated. Urine samples sent off for analysis show no compromise in kidney function typical of Lyme disease. He had a number of skin eruptions the first couple of months that we never did discover the cause of, but none for the last 2 months. Many of his front incisors were broken off and those have been removed. He is heartworm negative. He has gained 7 lbs and has started acting like a normal, healthy young dog. I am sure he will continue to improve. Training: Fife sits, he downs, he walks nicely on leash, he doesn't jump, and he has a really nice every day, functional recall, even under distraction. He will do sit and down stays, including very short out-of-sight stays. But, stays are not his favorite thing so a new owner would definitely need to spend time polishing these skills. He is now quiet and non-destructive in a crate and can be crated for extended periods of time. He keeps his crate and kennel run clean, so I imagine he will be a cinch to housetrain. He will take himself outdoors to potty if he has access. I have had him in the house enough to desensitize him to normal household environment. But, I have not spent much time on household manners. He is not a rude or pushy dog at all, so there won't be too many things he will have to learn yet to make a great house pet. He has adapted really well to new places and new people, but still needs more socializing to be completely comfortable. He does still sometimes react to sudden movements or noises with a momentary flinch, but recovers almost instantaneously. As quickly as he has improved in this area, I would expect that at some point in the very near future he will stop flinching entirely. He still is not 100% comfortable being 'handled', but you can clean his ears and trim his nails with zero problems. He still is not that fond of baths, but I imagine he will come around on this one too. Temperament: Overall, Fife is a great little dog!! He is calm and would be great in a household with kids or with an elderly person. He gets along fine with other dogs, but is intimidated by bigger dogs who want to play rough. There is zero aggression in this dog!! If he feels uncomfortable, he freezes. This little dog is pretty cooperative, very easy to get along with, and wants to be a good dog. His food drive is moderate and he will definitely work for treats, but values praise too. Problems: I can only think of two. (1) Fife will require someone with a bit of patience to help get him settled in a new home, learn to trust his new people, and help him to learn the rules of his new household. He hasn't had a 'home', consistent expectations, or people he could trust before. He is doing great right now, but based on his history, I would not be surprised if he backslides in a new situation. (2) Fife will absolutely, 100% look for a way to escape to take himself hunting! He will need super-secure fencing, with no gaps and a barrier at the bottom, invisible fencing, an electric wire around the base of the fence, or someone willing to hand-walk him. This is not a dog that can be left out unattended in an open or loosely- fenced yard. He will leave! He will also find his way back just fine (good, little hunting dog!), but could put himself in an unsafe situation before he makes it back home post-hunt. Fife really deserves a good home and people willing to give him a chance! If any of you know of someone who might be interested, please feel free to forward or share.     Hi there. My name is Kalipsa. I'm about 1 year old and I weigh about 42 lbs. My friends Bella, Deuce and I were surrendered to the pound after being found living deplorably. We were extremely unsocialized. We had never been outside prior to coming in to the pound. We had never been on leashes. We had never been exposed to humans other that our owners. Needless to say, we are still very scared, but we are making more and more progress daily. We are doing phenomenally with our leash training. We are getting better with meeting new people, and we're learning that new people are friends, not threats. We will all need patient, understanding ... (Read More)families with the time to train, housebreak and socialize us. We all get along well with most other dogs and we like to run and play. Due to our past environment and lack of socialization and training, we will need to either be taken outside on a leash or taken out into a secure, fenced in area so we do not run away when let outside. If you think I might be a good match for you, please consider adopting me. Our adoption fee is $120.00. The adoption fee must be paid in CASH. We are unable to accept personal checks or credit/debit cards for adoption fees. He is up to date with his shots, but will be due for his rabies shots soon. He loves to cuddle at bedtime and is just an awesome dog in general. We are just looking for a good loving family. If we could we would keep him but he is not getting along with my brother's cats. Lab Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Male Dogs Only, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Dodge will be a year old on June 5, 2018. He has not been fixed. He is UTD on vaccinations. He has only been around an older male dog - no cats, no children. He is protective of the home, but slightly aggressive during play. He is needy where attention is concerned, to the point of being jealous of our other dog when he receives attention. He needs room to run and play. Our home is too small for his needs anymore. He absolutely loves water and being outside. He is a chewer, which is the main reason he has to be rehomed per our landlord.

I only need to find him a different home because my other dog tends to pick on Leo. The phone number listed is my business number so please feel free to leave a voice mail or message me from here.

Beagle Mix    Age: Puppy

Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Lady is a very energetic, friendly puppy. She rarely barks and likes constant affection. She would be best suited in a home with another dog for companionship. She is house trained but still has occasional accidents, and she does okay on walks but needs further training to reduce pulling. She does not do well left home alone and would benefit from a companion animal to alleviate separation anxiety. As long as you can give her enough attention, she will be a lovable addition to the family. I can no longer care for her due to my recent retirement and financial issues. I am also concerned for the animal's safety due to my daughter's recent ... (Read More)mental health issues (she lives with me) Re-homing fee is negotiable. (Less)
