Rescue Me ID: 16-06-30-00588Daisy (female)

Black and Tan Coonhound Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Needs Vaccinations

Hi! My name is Daisy. I am a high energy dog in need of a new home because my human can't be home enough to give me the attention I need. I am pretty good with the neighborhood kids that love to come pet me but I don't get along with the smaller dogs in the neighborhood. I guess they remind me too much of rabbits. I would love to live somewhere with a fenced yard for me to run around in because I don't like the leash that my human makes me wear when we leave the house.

Golden Retriever Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Low Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

'SNIPER' is a 4 yr old, 88 lb. male, Golden Retriever mix we rescued from a high kill pound. He is an amazingly gentle, well behaved and obedient dog! Sniper seems to be trained not to 'do his business' in his dog run but waits for walks for that! He walks wonderfully on a leash and knows basic commands like 'No!', 'Come here Sniper' and 'Go to your pen'!! He enjoys being near people and other dogs, and loves to be petted. Sniper will make someone a wonderful companion. He is neutered, heartworm negative and on monthly heartworm preventative, dewormed, current on vaccinations and house-trained. All of our rescued dogs have been on a ... (Read More)nutritional regime which includes high quality food and supplements (ex., probiotics; vitamins, etc). This is done to bolster their immune systems and overall health; the result benefits their adoptive family with a pooch who has a lustrious coat, bright shiny eyes, and happy and healthy disposition. Animal ID: 23916Carson (male)

Black and Tan Coonhound Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Hi there! My name is Carson. I'm around 1 year old and I weigh 53.1 lbs. I was surrendered to the pound and I am now looking for a new family to love. I am a super duper sweet and loving little coonie boy looking for a new home. I am awesome if I do say so myself! I have a goofy, happy-go-lucky demeanor. I was a house dog before and I am a pretty good pup. I know how to sit and shake hands. I get along wonderful with other dogs and I LOVE to play!! If you're looking for an awesome hound to add to your family, please consider adopting me. Our adoption fee is $120.00. The adoption fee must be paid in CASH. We are unable to accept personal ... (Read More)checks or credit/debit cards for adoption fees. ALL dogs/puppies adopted from our shelter will receive their parvo distemper vaccine, bordetella vaccine, rabies vaccine (if aged at 12 weeks or older), be dewormed with a 3 day course of panacur dewormer, be microchipped, receive their current Ohio dog license and will be spayed or neutered. ALL DOGS/PUPPIES WILL BE SPAYED OR NEUTERED unless a health issue prohibits the surgery from being performed. Not all dogs posted for adoption are spayed/ neutered yet. If you're driving a long distance to adopt, please verify that the vetting process has been completed and dog you're interested in adopting is still available for adoption. The above mentioned vetting is all included in your adoption fee. The adoption fee and what is included in the adoption fee is NON-NEGOTIABLE. Adoptions MUST be done at the pound and in person as there is paperwork to fill out and an adoption contract that must be signed by the adopter. This means you must be willing to travel to our shelter to adopt. IF the dog you're interested in adopting has medical conditions or injuries which require medical treatment, we ask that you help with the medical bills so we can continue to help the dogs coming in who need additional vet care. We are a county run shelter, therefore we cannot control our intake or the health or behavior of the dogs that come in to our shelter. Although we try our hardest to place all of our adoptable dogs, there are certain circumstances in which any dog in our care could be euthanized at any time and without further notice (IE: sudden untreatable medical condition or injury, temperament or behavioral problems which may not be apparent when the dog first arrives, lack or space, etc.), therefore all dogs at our shelter should be considered urgent. The adoption of a more highly adoptable dog will mean more time for the less adoptable dog in the kennel next to him! Shelter hours are: Monday-Friday: 8 am- 4 pm Saturday: 9 am- 12 pm. The pound is CLOSED to the public on Sunday. There is nobody in the office on Saturday and Sunday, so therefore we are unable to answer or return phone calls over the weekend. Can't adopt a dog? We would love to have more volunteers who are able to spend time with our dogs! The dogs LOVE going for walks and the socialization and exercise helps make the dogs more adoptable. Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Hello. My name is Pepper. I'm approximately 3 years old and I weigh about 55 lbs. My pal Pinto and I were found as strays in the East Liverpool area. It was in the country and none of the neighbors around owned us or even knew where we could have came from, so it would appear that we had been dumped off by our owner for whatever reason. I am a very sweet and loving dog. I am very happy and friendly with people. I get along well with all of the other dogs that I have been around since arriving at the pound. Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Hi there! My name is Zeus. I'm around 4 years old and I weigh about 60 lbs (I'm very underweight). I am a phenomenal dog with an awesome personality. I am looking for a Shepherd Savvy home that will be able to finish up my training and help me reach my full potential. I am a really smart boy, I just need some training and consistency. What you should know about me: I LOVE water!! I love playing in the pools here!!! I love going for car rides and I will try to drag you to the car if I want to go somewhere! I am very vocal if I want something too, I'll tell ya all about it. I get along well with other dogs and I have also been around cats in ... (Read More)my previous home and I did well with them too. I was in very poor shape when I was surrendered. I had ear infections, very bad skin and I was really skinny. I have seen a vet and had a full blood panel done. Everything appeared good. I had a 4DX test done also, it was negative for heartworm and the tick borne diseases. I am currently on antibiotics for my skin and my ears are being treated. I am feeling much better, but my new family needs to understand that I may require a special diet any may require additional vet care to get me completely straightened around.     Chester is a happy, friendly dog who is great with kids (we have a 4y.o.). Unfortunately, we didn't train him as a puppy and he's developed a serious obsession with 'people food' which has been impossible for us to tame. Between work, our child, and having a baby on the way, we just don't have enough time to spend training him properly and hope we can find someone who will take him in and train him properly. He's extremely smart, friendly and cuddly... just needs better owners than we have been able to be!!

Rowan is a highly intelligent dog who loves to snuggle. He may have had a rough beginning in life before i adopted him because he has some anxiety issues and takes a while to get to know new adults and dogs. After the initial meeting though he is really quite affectionate. I love him dearly but I have come to realize that he needs more outdoor time and space than I can give him. Want to know what I love....we have a kiddy pool at the Muskingum County Dog Warden & Adoption Center and it is one of my FAVORTITE things ever!!!!! I'm pretty sure if I found a forever home, I would love it even more than the pool though (3 Available for adoption at: Muskingum County Dog Warden & Adoption Center 1500 Newark Rd., Zanesville, Ohio 43701 740-453-0273 Please call ahead if you plan to visit. ... Pit Bull Mix    Age: Young Adult

Health: Blind

***Partially Blind*** My name Ezra and although that makes me sounds like an old man, the vet says I'm only a couple years old. I suppose I look a little rough because I've lived a bit of a rough life. I ended up at the Muskingum County Dog Warden and Adoption Center after being hit by a car. The vet thinks I suffered a concussion from that accident and that is why I can no longer see very well. Losing your sight is a terrible thing and sometimes I get scared because I don't know what is going on around me. If you come to visit me, just move slowly and let me smell you first. I love treats too, so bring some of those and I will know you are ... (Read More)a good person! I really want to get out of here and find a calm home where I can adjust to losing my eyesight.     Hi, I'm Melody! When I first came to the Muskingum County Dog Warden and Adoption Center, I was very sad, but now I am settling in just fine! I love to go for walks and get super excited about being in the fresh air! When the volunteers get me out of my kennel I try not to be too difficult, but I absolutely hate going back inside. That's understandable though, all I want is to be free again! The volunteers keep reassuring me that I will find a great home especially since I'm such a sweet girl! Hopefully someone will notice my cute face and happy tail wag soon!!! Available for adoption at: Muskingum County Dog Warden & Adoption Center 1500 ... Public hours are Monday through Saturday from 10am-3pm, ... (Read More)and Sunday 12-2pm. The CITY DOGS mission is to increase adoptions from the City Kennel by changing the image of the pit bulls who make up the majority of the kennel population, by preparing all adoptable dogs in the kennel for lives in loving homes and by creating as many opportunities as possible for the public to meet and get to know our dogs for the terrific pets they are meant to be. Our Adoption Process... Here's a little about how things work: All of the CITY DOGS posted for adoption are available for direct adoption from the kennel, unless noted otherwise. A handful of dogs are only available for rescue pull, which can be for a variety of reasons. You can either stop in during our open hours to meet a dog, or set up a meet and greet with your dog, which allows us to get the dog out of his/her cage for some exercise before you arrive. To set up a meet and greet, please email us at citydogs@city.cleveland.oh.us. About Our Dogs: All available dogs have gone through the ASPCA SAFER Assessment. This assessment is a snapshot of who the dog is at that given time. Our dogs are strays and we cannot make any guarantees with regard to behavior, temperament or health of any City Dog. We do not know what kind of home environment they were living in (i.e. with kids, other dogs or other cats), nor do we know if they are house trained. Everything we know about them is based on volunteer and staff observations. It is very hard to tell with certainty whether or not a dog will be good with kids, cats or another dog. If you have kids in the home or another dog, we do require that they be present for a meet and greet with the dog you are considering for adoption. Health/Vaccinations: Dogs that are adopted directly from the kennel need to go to your personal vet within a week or so of leaving the kennel. They do have their DHPP, Rabies and Bordetella vaccinations, are dewormed once and have a microchip. In addition, unfortunately many of the dogs do get kennel cough. This is not something that is contagious to people at all, but dogs that do have it will need to be on an antibiotic (Less)

CITY DOGS Cleveland is a program of Cleveland Animal Care & Control (CACC), located at 2690 W. 7th St. Cleveland, OH 44113. Public hours are Monday through Saturday from 10am-3pm, and Sunday 12-2pm.

Lobo is a loving and caring dog that will make a great companion for anyone looking to care for an older dog. He was rescued so his true age is unknown but I've estimated him to be about 8 years of age. He currently can't stay at the location he is at and I don't want him to be euthanized because he is an older dog. Please contact me if you are interested in taking in or fostering lobo!

20 pounds, gray, quite active for his age, does not need to go out during the night. His owner and female companion dog have died. He has lived a sheltered life and is very wary (and barky) around strange people or dogs until he gets to know them. Then he is as lovable as can be. Present caretaker is executor of owner's estate and is unable to give Alex the love and time that he has always had.

This is Simcoe. He is a loyal and loving Shar Pei. He was rescued before after being returned to the APL 3 times. It's not his fault though. He has severe allergies and was never treated appropriately. He is now on medication and feeling SO much better. He LOVES to run and chase squirrels. Simcoe has never once shown any signs of aggression toward anyone. He's very alert and will let you know when someone may be coming over. I love this gentleman more than anything but he deserves a family who is around and can take him to the park and play with him. Thank you

Animal ID: CoraCora (female)

Pit Bull Mix    Age: Young Adult

Health: Spayed

Hi! My name is Cora! I love going on walks and running around the yard. I am looking for a forever home with space to run and play. I love giant rope toys, Nylabones, and my Kong with treats in it! I hate going out in the rain, but I have no fear of thunderstorms. Also, although I'm 65 pounds of pure muscle, I sometimes think I'm a lapdog and will want to snuggle right up with you! I am, by far, the best cuddler around! That being said, I will be sad when you leave home, but I will have the most enthusiastic greeting for you when you get back! I would do best with someone that has time to give me a lot of attention, take me out to play and ... (Read More)train me around the house. I do well with kids and, with proper introductions, I can do well with other large dogs too. Smaller dogs have never been an issue for me. Look at my sweet eyes and try not to fall in love with me!     Hi there. My name is Johnson. I'n around 2 years old and I weigh about 43.8 lbs. I was found as a stray in East Liverpool. The folks that found me, held on to me for about a week and even posted online that they'd found me but my owners never came forward to claim me. I can't fathom why my people never came forward for me because I am an awesome dog!! I am a really well behaved boy. I love people and I get along well with the other dogs I have been around since I have been here at the pound. If you're looking for a great dog to add to your family, please consider adopting me. I appear to be in good health. I have been given my Parvo/ ... (Read More)Distemper vaccine and I have been dewormed with panacur dewormer. PLEASE CONSIDER THIS DOG, AS WELL AS ALL THE OTHER DOGS AT OUR SHELTER AS URGENT. OUR KENNEL SPACE HERE AT THE POUND IS VERY LIMITED. THIS DOG COULD BE EUTHANIZED WITHOUT FURTHER NOTICE ANY TIME AFTER JUNE 17, 2016. HERE AT THE COLUMBIANA COUNTY DOG POUND, WE TRY VERY HARD TO PLACE ALL OF OUR ADOPTABLE DOGS IN TO LOVING HOMES OR SEND THEM TO GREAT, APPROVED RESCUE GROUPS, HOWEVER, WE CAN ONLY KEEP OUR DOGS HERE AT THE POUND AS LONG AS SPACE ALLOWS. Rescue Me ID: 16-06-20-00122Kenzie (female)

Bernese Mountain Dog    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Very Dominant
Health: Spayed, Needs Vaccinations, Abused/Neglected,
 Aggressive, Fearful/Anxious

Kenzie is the sweetest dog ever when she is with her family. However, she can be aggressive when there is food present. She is extremely aggressive when there is 'blood in the air'. We live in the country and she likes to hunt, so when she is successful and there is a dead animal in the yard she will attack our other dog. He is afraid to leave the house due to this situation. She would do well with only humans and no contact with other dogs. On one occasion, she attacked another dog that someone brought to our house. I rescued her three years ago and wanted to help her since we are her fifth home. I was told she was very under-weight ... (Read More)when she arrived at the shelter. I believe this is the reason she is insecure and aggressive around food. We are able to pet her and touch her food bowl when she is eating, but if the other dog is near her, she is aggressive (not the cat though). She is a typical Berner and will stand and let you pet her for hours or sit on your feet no matter where you are, she LOVES and CRAVES attention! She is used to running free on two acres and wears a shock collar. We will only let her go to a good home that will exercise her and protect her. We don't want to have our other dog scared to leave the house, but we are willing to make it work if we cannot find a suitable placement. We reserve the right to say no. (Less)

Animal ID: PPR16-52Tigger (male)

Yorkie    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Hello. My name is Tigger, but I have lots of nicknames; 'Tiglet', 'Tig-Tig', 'Tigger-Bell', and 'Mr. Tongue' (my tongue hangs out because I don't have any teeth). I am 7 years old and weigh 5 lbs. I am a 'golden blonde' Yorkie. I am neutered, completely vetted, and micro-chipped. %A0 I am looking for a new home because my owners moved to Georgia and couldn't take me with them. They surrendered me to the Humane Society on June 1, 2016. I spent about a week there before Puppy Pals found me and wanted to help me find a great forever home. Life in my foster home is very different from what I was used to. I was an outside dog and ... (Read More)came inside only at night. I was not house-broken, but I am learning'| I don't do #2 in the house, but sometimes I will do #1, so I wear a belly band when my foster parents can't keep a close eye on me. I also was never leash-trained, but I am catching on. It seems that life outdoors was hard on my fur'| I don't have much fur on my ears, tail, or feet. Maybe my fur will grow back when I can live indoors. %A0 Here are a couple more things that you should know about me: %A0 'ۢ I love, love, love people. Big ones, small ones, and in-between ones. But, because of my small size, it would be safest for me to live in a house that does not have young children. %A0 'ۢ I am a lap dog'| I'd love to be in your lap or lying next to you on the couch. I am too little to jump onto the couch, but I am learning to use a step stool. %A0 'ۢ I am very quiet'| I bark only when I get to chase squirrels. I sleep in a crate in my foster parents' bedroom and don't make a sound all night. %A0 'ۢ I get a big kick out of small, soft, squeaky toys. %A0 'ۢ I love having a soft pillow to nap on. %A0 'ۢ I am very good in the car and don't get car sick. %A0 'ۢ I love cheese. If you can't get me to eat my dinner, just put a little cheese on top and yum! %A0 'ۢ I can climb a fence and fit through small openings. So, I need a good fence or close outside supervision. %A0 'ۢ I am afraid of thunder. I'll shake and be clingy when it rumbles. %A0 'ۢ I am a little protective of my attention and my food. I have growled at other dogs when they came too close. Also, I am not that into playing with other dogs, so I would be OK as the only dog in the house. %A0 If you have room for a tiny housemate and the desire to love on a little softie, I would love to be that guy. If you have any questions please contact my foster mom at the link found at http://puppypalsrescue.com/Dogs_Tigger1652.html .%A0 Fill out an application if you are interested in adopting me - you can find those at http://puppypalsrescue.com/Applications.html %A0(Email my foster home and let them know you applied so they can be sure the application is received! ) I just can't wait to find a forever home!%A0 Thanks!!! Our Adoption Process... Here's a little about how things work: All of the CITY DOGS posted for adoption are available for direct adoption from the kennel, unless noted otherwise. A handful of dogs are only available for rescue pull, which can be for a variety of reasons. This is not something that is contagious to people at all, but dogs that do have it will need to be on an antibiotic (Less)

Public hours are Monday through Saturday ... (Read More)from 10am-3pm, and Sunday 12-2pm. Rescue Me ID: 16-06-16-00535Coby (male)

Lab Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

COBY is a wonderful 8 year old, 68 pound black Lab mix male who was adopted from a shelter about 8 years ago, when he was just a few weeks old. His family had to move for a new job and was not able to find a place that would take a large dog, so they asked our help to find him a new home. His previous family had this to say about Coby. 'He is house trained and even keeps the barking to almost nothing while inside. He is very friendly and he loves children. We have a 6 year old that has grown up with him, and an 18 month old that is his best friend. He is very patient and will tolerate lots of poking, squeezing and love from the kids and ... (Read More)has never as much as nipped at them. Coby loves to run and be outside and play fetch with a tennis ball. He does a fair job at listening to commands such as come, sit and stay. He is friendly with other dogs and loves to meet them as long as they are friendly too. He is neutered and up to date on shots.' Coby tested positive for heartworm but his previous family has sponsored his heartworm treatment which he will complete around July 16, 2016, after which he will be ready for adoption and we expect he will be heartworm free. If you live in another state, don't let that stand in your way. We will work to transport Coby if it means he will have a good forever home. If you are another rescue group, we will waive the adoption fee but you can make a donation toward vetting at your discretion. The adoption fee will help to cover part of the cost of his veterinary care. (Less)

My name is Henna. I lived outside for a long time and wound up pregnant. I found my way to this frightening place with a lot of barking dogs and had my puppies there. It was pretty scary, but someone nice came and took my puppies and me somewhere safe where I could raise them. My foster mom said that all 7 got adopted and now it's MY turn! I am playfully, energetic, goofy, curious, affectionate and submissive. I give the best kisses and cuddles. I love to play with my foster brother and sisters. I'm also learning commands and tricks. I can sit, lay down and know the word no. I'm making progress on stay, come here, off and back up. I'm also getting used to this thing called a leash and walking calmly, but I think it's very fun! I am crate trained. I love people and kids, but I'm not so good with cats. I would love to be able to have a home to call mine and play all the time! I need someone who is willing to work with me to get better at listening and walking on leashes. Eventually, I think I would make a great running or hiking partner! It would be awesome if my new home had another dog friend to play with!
