Tippi is 1 1/2 years old. We rescued her from the shelter 6 weeks ago and she has acclimated well to her new home. Unfortunately, we are not going to be able to offer her a forever home. She was underweight when we rescued her, but has filled out and seems to be a healthy weight now. She is on the small side for a miniature schauzer. Tippi LOVES to ride in cars and is a great companion as I'm usually running errands and spend time driving kids to school. She loves the wind in her whiskers! She is nervous around young children she doesn't know and will need to be in a home with older children or adults only. She acclimated to my ... (Read More)children quickly and all is good, but I've had to crate her during play dates. She is such a companionable dog! She loves to be around her people and will stay close. She is crate trained, but suffers from anxiety when left in the crate during the day (she's happy there at night). She was not completely house broken when we got her and has come a long way in the short time we have had her. Rainy days still cause some problems, but again, we have seen improvement. We've worked with a trainer on house breaking, crating anxiety and general obedience. We will be happy to share those instructions so her training can continue. Tippi is super playful and bounces high when excited. When allowed to run free, she is soooo fast! She is smart and (for a Schnauzer) likes to please. She would do well in a fenced yard (something we don't have), but walks well on a leash. She loves her toys and we haven't had any problems with chewing or destruction. She will bark when startled, at the Starbucks drivethru and when strangers come to the door. The trainer says for a Schnauzer, she is not barky and is fairly relaxed. She is excited and nervous to meet new dogs, but once acclimated, she seems to get along fine and loves to play. She does well with our cat but insists that he play with her whether he wants to or not. She loves to make the cat chase her and will cower when he corners her. Once released, it will begin again.
