Sephora loves her toy basket, the more toys the better, it will keep her occupied for hours! Sephora also loves to chew on Nyla bones, I put one in her ... (Read More)crate and she is one happy girl! Sephora absolutely loves to cuddle and be with you! She loves other dogs and cats, and is sweet as she can be. We believe she is a beagle/lab mix and is under a year old. Jack Russell    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Hi, I have a short legged Russell terrier that I need to rehome. He's a sweet dog but our family is too overwhelmed with three children under 3 because Jefe is not good with small children. He's gotten very close to biting our twins on multiple occasions. Here are his details and pictures. Jefe is CKC purebred short legged Russell terrier and he's a lover. His dream job is to warm your lap all day long. He's very low maintenance and very mellow for a jack Russell. He doesn't need long walks, just a good run in the yard. But either will do! He's 9 years young and in perfect health. He is good with older kids who respect him. He's not good ... (Read More)with babies or toddlers or super hyper children. He would also be a great dog for an older person who wants a great companion. He is good with most calm dogs who leave him alone but he would not do good with hyper or very young dogs or puppies. I'd say he isn't good with most dogs. He's good with cats. He's great at hunting down any rodents!! He's not a big barker and he obeys lots of commands like come, stay, roll over, shake, etc. He's about 18lbs. He comes with a years supply of flea/worm treatments, is neutered, and microchipped.     Hi there. My name is Marley. I'm 8 months old and I weigh 50 lbs. I was originally found as a stray in East Liverpool. My owner did claim me the first time and I went back home. I got loose again just a few days later though and the second time, they opted to leave me at the pound so I can find a new family. I am a VERY sweet and loving girl. I am wonderful with people of all sizes and I get along well with most of the other dogs that i have been around since I have been here at the pound. I was mostly a house dog with my previous owners so I have had some potty training. If you're looking for a sweet dog to add to your family, please ... (Read More)consider adoption me.     Hi there! My name is Cecil. I'm around 6 months old and I weigh about 35 lbs. I was surrendered to the pound by my owner and I am now looking for a new family. I am a very sweet little puppy. I adore people and I get along great with other dogs. I am very playful. I need a bit of training still as my manners are not the greatest. I am quite the jumper but I am very smart and I will learn very fast if I am properly trained. I do already know how to sit on command, so obviously someone has worked with me in some capacity.     Dusty was adopted as a puppy but returned to us. He is a great dog, loves everyone, loves to snuggle, good with other dogs, cats and kids but likes to chase/play with the cats which they don't appreciate so probably best in a cat free home. He is house trained but jumps up a lot so we are suggesting older kids for fear he will knock a little kid over/down. He is a great dog with a lot of potential but is also very stubborn so needs a home that is experienced with dogs and won't let him get away with doing things he shouldn't. Or email citydogs@city.cleveland.oh.us About Our Shelter... CITY DOGS Cleveland is a program of Cleveland Animal Care & Control (CACC), located at 2690 W. 7th St. Cleveland, OH 44113. Public hours are Monday through Saturday from 10am-3pm, and Sunday 12-2pm. The CITY DOGS mission is to increase adoptions from the City Kennel by changing the image of the pit bulls who make up the majority of the kennel population, by preparing all adoptable dogs in the kennel for lives in loving homes and by creating as many opportunities as possible for the public to meet and get to know our dogs for the terrific pets they are meant to be. Our Adoption Process... Here's a little about how things work: All of the CITY DOGS posted for adoption are available for direct adoption from the kennel, unless noted otherwise. A handful of dogs are only available for rescue pull, which can be for a variety of reasons. You can either stop in during our open hours to meet a dog, or set up a meet and greet with your dog, which allows us to get the dog out of his/her cage for some exercise before you arrive. To set up a meet and greet, please email us at citydogs@city.cleveland.oh.us. About Our Dogs: All available dogs have gone through the ASPCA SAFER Assessment. This assessment is a snapshot of who the dog is at that given time. Our dogs are strays and we cannot make any guarantees with regard to behavior, temperament or health of any City Dog. We do not know what kind of home environment they were living in (i.e. with kids, other dogs or other cats), nor do we know if they are house trained. Everything we know about them is based on volunteer and staff observations. It is very hard to tell with certainty whether or not a dog will be good with kids, cats or another dog. If you have kids in the home or another dog, we do require that they be present for a meet and greet with the dog you are considering for adoption. Health/Vaccinations: Dogs that are adopted directly from the kennel need to go to your personal vet within a week or so of leaving the kennel. They do have their DHPP, Rabies and Bordetella vaccinations, are dewormed once and have a microchip. In addition, unfortunately many of the dogs do get kennel cough. This is not something that is contagious to people at all, but dogs that do have it will need to be on an antibiotic. (Less)

Sammy is a Boxer/Lab mix and he is about 2 years old. He is wonderful and already housetrained. He loves going walking and would be a great running and hiking companion. His owner was disabled and had to have surgery and could no longer care for him. He took Sammy to Animal Control thinking he would get adopted but he didn't and was set to be euthanized. I happened to be there to pick up another dog and they showed him to me. He was going to be killed if someone didn't take him by 5pm that day. He was so happy to be saved he was dancing back and forth on his front feet. He is very playful! His adoption fee (adoption fee, transport fee, and ... If you would consider adopting this dog from Transport then please email us. Thank you for choosing to adopt a rescue dog!!     I love my dog but ever since she turned 1 I have been severely allergic to her which limits my ability to be around her. I have been advised I need to find her a new home for health reasons. She is loving and likes to u under you laying under your legs or right by you. She is energetic and loves walks. When I am not home she is locked in her room as I have not attempted to leave her out all day but when I am home she used to roam freely. She was bell trained to ring a bell on the door to let her outside. Currently she can't roam as freely as I begin to get sever allergic reactions. Other that around her have no problem and adore her but ... (Read More)all have pets already. I am looking to give her to a loving home that has the time to be with her. (Less)

(Less)

(Less)

Hi I'm Dice! I am 1-2 years old & I ended up at the shelter. I was very scared there. My life before the shelter wasn't really great. No one knows where I came from but my paws and tail were stained with urine stains. I also walk kind of hunched over like I was kept locked in a cage that was too small for me. I am a very sweet boy. I am learning to trust people. I like dogs & cats are kinda scary! I am heartworm tested, vaccinated, neutered and microchipped. Animal ID: CarlieCarlie (female)

American Staffordshire Terrier Mix    Age: Young Adult

Health: Spayed

Meet Carlie! She's a pretty blue girl who came from a shelter. A few Good Samaritans witnessed her being thrown from a car and it took 2 hours for them to catch her, as she was so frightened. She stayed at the shelter in the event that someone were to claim her, when she wasn't claimed, she came to us. Wherever Carlie lived in her previous life, people were mean to her. She had lots of puppies and little to no socialization. New environments, loud noises frighten her. She's a little nervous with new people, but she really, really likes other dogs. Her tail wags very quickly when she's ready to play with her new dog friends. She really just ... (Read More)wants to be friends with every dog she meets. She wants them to play with her, but will simply walk away when they don't. She's also good with cats. Carlie would do best in a quiet home who will give her the time she needs to come out of her shell. She must go to a home with at least one other playful dog to teach her that life is good. She's probably around 4-5 years old (but acts younger since she was never allowed to be a puppy) and around 50-60 pounds. She's tall and lean. I am heartworm tested, vaccinated, spayed and microchipped. Please fill out the adoption application at www.adoptapitrescue.org under the applications tab! Adoption fee: $175. (Less)

(Less)

We found this dog online being sold due to another dog in the home being aggressive with her. When we met the dog, she had scars and bite marks on her. We went ahead and bought her from the sellers. We took her to the vet and found out she is around 2 years old, she's already had one litter of puppies. The previous owners said she was up to date on shots and worm medicine; however, after testing, we found out that she did have hook worms and whip worms. The vet gave us treatment for the worms as well as antibiotics for the scars and open wounds. The vet did not vaccinate her as she didn't come with food and we put her on Wellness for puppies ... She knows sit and down and she's getting better on walking with the leash. She will try to pull but once you correct her, she does great. Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Hi, we are Winslow and Ben. Due to the sudden death of our Daddy we need to find a new home, ASAP!! We are both pure bred Pit Bulls. Our daddy got us when we were babies and we have always been indoor dogs. So we need a home inside please. I'm Winslow, the tan and white dog. I was born on April 18, 2005. I just turned 11. I am a little timid at first when I meet you, but I promise I will warm up to you. Then I will want to kiss you every second I get a chance, I love kisses. I will also love to lay on your lap and have you hug and pet me. I am just misunderstood. I like to bark at people walking by and I think I scare them by barking too ... (Read More)loud. I'm just having fun!! I really do love people!! And I love my brother. I'm Ben, Winslow's brother. I'm the white dog. I was born on May 3, 2006. I turned 10 a few days ago. I didn't get to celebrate with my daddy this year and I miss him very much. I love love people. I want you to pet me as much as possible. I would love to lay on the floor and have you pet my belly. I will also want a kiss every now and then. Not like my brother, he will kiss you all day. I do have sore hips so I need to be careful. I take glucosamine for my hips. I just need a lot of love, especially now!! We love to run and play in the yard together. We have always had a fenced in yard. We have really not been put on a leash or chain. Not that we couldn't try. We have never been around small children and it probably wouldn't be a good idea to start now. PLEASE********We need a new home indoors. We MUST stay together. We have been through enough and need each other more than ever. We just need to be loved for the life we have left. We do not want to go to the pound so please come and get us. (Less)

KiChee was picked up by the SPCA in January in 10 degree weather with ice coating his paws. I rescued him in April. He's a lumbering, gentle, giant. He's been living on my small farm with another female Grt Pyr. Unfortunately, he chases my chickens and alpacas. He's playful with my other Grt Pyr and ignores our old cat (but I suspect he would chase a younger cat that ran from him). He sleeps all day, is great with strangers and soaks up affection like a sponge. He's crate trained, has all his shots, neutered and great on a leash. He would bond quickly with any family that was kind to him.

Prince Ferguson is quite the old soul,he is a roughly 8-10 year old Australian Shepherd mix. We had to shave him completely, as he was severally matted.     I can't stress enough what a great pet he would make for someone with no other animals or small children. He doesn't get along with other animals and plays to rough for small children. Our grass cutting company left our gate open last year and he got out and killed a small dog. He is labeled a vicious animal in my city now because of it. Animal ID: 17616Josie (female)

Boxer Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Hi there. My name is Josie. I'm about 1-2 years old and I weigh about 65 lbs. I was found as a stray in Wellsville and I was picked up by the pound. I am a very sweet and loving girl. I do have a lot of energy and I would do best in a home with a family that is able to give me a lot of exercise. I can easily scale a 6' fence and be gone in a matter of seconds, so when I go outside to potty, I either need to be walked OR secured to a tie out so I am not able to wander off. I get along well with most other dogs. I do not do well with overbearing or dominant females, though. I do a pretty good job keeping my kennel clean and I don't pee or ... (Read More)poop when I am in the office, so there is a good chance that I have had some house training. **UPDATE** Josie has received a very special sponsorship! A special birthday gift from Ed & Mary to Cheryl! Happy Birthday, Cheryl. Josie is now sponsored for any approved rescue to pull. Please note that sponsorships are for approved rescue groups only and they do not apply to private adoptions or unapproved rescue groups. If you're looking for a sweet dog to add to your family, please consider adopting me. I appear to be in good health. I have been given my Parvo/ Distemper vaccine and I have been dewormed with panacur dewormer. PLEASE CONSIDER THIS DOG, AS WELL AS ALL THE OTHER DOGS AT OUR SHELTER AS URGENT. OUR KENNEL SPACE HERE AT THE POUND IS VERY LIMITED. THIS DOG COULD BE EUTHANIZED WITHOUT FURTHER NOTICE ANY TIME AFTER MAY 4, 2016. HERE AT THE COLUMBIANA COUNTY DOG POUND, WE TRY VERY HARD TO PLACE ALL OF OUR ADOPTABLE DOGS IN TO LOVING HOMES OR SEND THEM TO GREAT, APPROVED RESCUE GROUPS, HOWEVER, WE CAN ONLY KEEP OUR DOGS HERE AT THE POUND AS LONG AS SPACE ALLOWS. (Less)

Animal ID: 16-05-07-00351HATTIE (female)

Lab Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Heartworm Positive

HATTIE is an adorable, happy, calm, docile and super loving 2 yr old chocolate Lab female whom we rescued from a high kill pound. Hattie is a very sweet, sociable gal who is gentle and eager to please, and would make an exceptionally great 'emotional therapy' dog. Hattie gets along with everyone, and wants to be everybody's pal. She is slight/early onset heartworm positive, the 'fast kill' treatment which the rescue will provide via their Vet, and provide guidance to the adopter during treatment. After HW treatment is completed, Judy will then be spayed. Due to these present but highly treatable health issues, we will not place Hattie in a ... (Read More)home with other dogs or children. She spayed, current on vaccinations, house-trained, and crate-trained. All of our rescued dogs have been on a nutritional regime which includes high quality food and supplements (ex., probiotics; vitamins, etc). This is done to bolster their immune systems and overall health; the result benefits their adoptive family with a pooch who has a lustrious coat, bright shiny eyes, and happy and healthy disposition.
