Rescue Me ID: 17-05-22-00391Charlott (female)

Bulldog Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Low Energy, Very Dominant
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Aggressive

I need to re-home my 1.5 year old English Bulldog/Black Mouth Cur puppy. I got her when she was 10 weeks old. She needs to be in a home with no children & no other animals. She is generally a very sweet & shy/docile type of puppy, but every once in a while she gets aggressive towards other animals. She needs to be the only baby. She has always shied away from men also & needs to really warm up. (She hides under our table & barks when a guy comes in. Normally, she is not much of a barker, though) She is fixed, up to date on all shots, & has a microchip. She goes to Tipp City Vet Hospital. She has had amazing care there & has never missed a ... (Read More)vet appointment. She is currently on a Hill's food metabolic & mobility diet because she was over-weight. She is now in her weight rang & really loves the Hill's food she is on. I am asking $300. She will come with her food, collar, & leash, as well as all of her shot records & any other vet record information you'd like. If you have any questions about her, please let me know. I really, really just want her to go to a wonderful home. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-05-22-00184Vader, Sylver & Cierra (male)

Boxer Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Hi there. We are Vader (male, black & white, back left), Sylver ( male, white and fawn, back right) and Cierra (female, white and fawn, front). We're 10 weeks old and approximately 10 lbs. We were surrendered to the pound by our owner and we're now looking for new homes. We are typical puppies and will require a lot of training. We still need crate training and housebreaking. We still chew everything and pee and poop all over the place if we're not being supervised. We will need patient families with the time to train us. We are looking for families prepared to make a lifetime commitment to us. We don't want to be bounced around from ... (Read More)place to place. We need forever families. If you're looking for a sweet puppy to add to your family, please consider adopting one of us! Our adoption fee is $120.00. The adoption fee must be paid in CASH. We are unable to accept personal checks or credit/debit cards for adoption fees. ALL dogs/puppies adopted from our shelter will receive their parvo distemper vaccine, bordetella vaccine, rabies vaccine (if aged at 12 weeks or older), be dewormed with a 3 day course of panacur dewormer, be microchipped, receive their current Ohio dog license and will be spayed or neutered. ALL DOGS/PUPPIES WILL BE SPAYED OR NEUTERED unless a health issue prohibits the surgery from being performed. Not all dogs posted for adoption are spayed/ neutered yet. If you're driving a long distance to adopt, please verify that the vetting process has been completed and dog you're interested in adopting is still available for adoption. The above mentioned vetting is all included in your adoption fee. The adoption fee and what is included in the adoption fee is NON-NEGOTIABLE. Adoptions MUST be done at the pound and in person as there is paperwork to fill out and an adoption contract that must be signed by the adopter. This means you must be willing to travel to our shelter to adopt. IF the dog you're interested in adopting has medical conditions or injuries which require medical treatment, we ask that you help with the medical bills so we can continue to help the dogs coming in who need additional vet care. We are a county run shelter, therefore we cannot control our intake or the health or behavior of the dogs that come in to our shelter. Although we try our hardest to place all of our adoptable dogs, there are certain circumstances in which any dog in our care could be euthanized at any time and without further notice (IE: sudden untreatable medical condition or injury, temperament or behavioral problems which may not be apparent when the dog first arrives, lack or space, etc.), therefore all dogs at our shelter should be considered urgent. The adoption of a more highly adoptable dog will mean more time for the less adoptable dog in the kennel next to him! Shelter hours are: Monday-Friday: 8 am- 4 pm Saturday: 9 am- 12 pm. The pound is CLOSED to the public on Sunday. There is nobody in the office on Saturday and Sunday, so therefore we are unable to answer or return phone calls over the weekend. Can't adopt a dog? We would love to have more volunteers who are able to spend time with our dogs! The dogs LOVE going for walks and the socialization and exercise helps make the dogs more adoptable. Boxer    Age: Puppy

Health: Vaccinations Current

COURTESY POST: This dog is not with Paw Patrol. Please contact Captain Spish for more details. Frank is a boxer and is about one and a half years old. He has some minor anxiety and fear to new things but does fine when his person or people help guide him through any new encounter. Frank would be best as an only dog or with a confident and laid back dog friend. Frank is too much energy for small kids and would be better in a home with much older kids or teenagers. He would probably make a ... (Read More)good running buddy or frisbee dog. Frank is a great boy with lots of energy to play with. A handful of dogs are only available for rescue pull, which can be for a variety of reasons. To set up a meet and greet, please email us at citydogs@city.cleveland.oh.us. About Our Dogs: All available dogs have been assessed. This assessment is a snapshot of who the dog is at that given time. Our dogs are strays and we cannot make any guarantees with regard to behavior, temperament or health of any City Dog. We do not know what kind of home environment they were living in (i.e. with kids, other dogs or other cats), nor do we know if they are house trained. Everything we know about them is based on volunteer and staff observations. It is very hard to tell with certainty whether or not a dog will be good with kids, cats or another dog. If you have kids in the home or another dog, we do require that they be present for a meet and greet with the dog you are considering for adoption. Health/Vaccinations: Dogs that are adopted directly from the kennel need to go to your personal vet within a week or so of leaving the kennel. They do have their DHPP, Rabies and Bordetella vaccinations, are dewormed once and have a microchip. In addition, unfortunately many of the dogs do get kennel cough. This is not something that is contagious to people at all, but dogs that do have it will need to be on an antibiotic. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-05-19-00275Chocolate (male)

Golden Retriever Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Hello. My name is Chocolate. I'm about 4 years old and I weigh about 60 lbs. My friends Nala, Driver and I were surrendered to the pound by our owner and we are now looking for new homes. I am a very sweet boy. I like people and I get along well with other dogs. If you're looking for a sweet dog to add to your family, please consider adopting me. Our adoption fee is $120.00. The adoption fee must be paid in CASH. We are unable to accept personal checks or credit/debit cards for adoption fees. ALL dogs/puppies adopted from our shelter will receive their parvo distemper vaccine, bordetella vaccine, rabies vaccine (if aged at 12 weeks or ... (Read More)older), be dewormed with a 3 day course of panacur dewormer, be microchipped, receive their current Ohio dog license and will be spayed or neutered. German Shepherd    Age: Adult

Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Mila is a 2-year-old German Shepherd. This beautiful, one-eyed wonder is a super sweet girl. Her old owners said they no longer had time for her and were keeping her outside most of the time.     Carmella is ready for adoption!!! Who would have thought that 2 weeks ago, this girl had never known what love felt like. Sadly, while living life outside and being allowed to run around, she wouldn't let anyone touch her. She was afraid of the leash and was too afraid to go through doorways. Rescue Me ID: 17-05-17-00259Clyde Cassius (male)

Treeing Walker Coonhound Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Hi there. My name is Clyde Cassius. I'm about 5 years old and I weigh about 50 lbs (I'm very underweight). I was found as a stray in the Summitville area and I was brought in to the pound. I am a very sweet and loving boy. I love people and i have been good with the other dogs I have been around here at the pound. I was likely an outside dog my whole life so I will still need trained and housebroken. If you're looking for a sweet dog to add to your family, please consider adopting me. Our adoption fee is $120.00. The adoption fee must be paid in CASH. We are unable to accept personal checks or credit/debit cards for adoption fees. ALL ... (Read More)dogs/puppies adopted from our shelter will receive their parvo distemper vaccine, bordetella vaccine, rabies vaccine (if aged at 12 weeks or older), be dewormed with a 3 day course of panacur dewormer, be microchipped, receive their current Ohio dog license and will be spayed or neutered. He loves to snuggle, chase flies, run at full speed in enclosed areas, play with footballs, and just hang out with you. Charlie has demonstrated aggression towards certain other dogs who have been dominant to him - while he is fine with certain other dogs, I think what he needs most of all is a one-dog home with people who are as active as him. I was found by a very nice lady that took me home for the night then brought me to the pound the next morning. I have a fractured jaw that is currently healing. I will need to eat canned dog food/ soft foods for approximately 4 more weeks. Since everything is lined up good in my jaw, I won't need surgery for it. I do have a large lump under my jaw from calcification that may not go away. When I seen the vet, she gave me antibiotics too just in case I have an ... (Read More)infection brooding in my mouth or jaw. I am a super sweet dog. I love people and I get along well with most other dogs. If a dog is aggressive or dominant towards me I don't like that, but if they're friendly towards me, I am also nice and friendly towards them. I really hope to find a new home soon. Please consider adopting me. She is good with other dogs after proper introductions; cats are still up for debate. Sasha is kennel trained and 90% house trained. Her previous owner let her roam the neighborhood then abandoned her when he thought she was pregnant. Luckily a neighbor took pity on her and got her off the streets. Unfortunately the neighbor couldn't keep and ... (Read More)surrendered her to a shelter. When the shelter believed her to be pregnant, she was scheduled to be euthanized. Fate stepped in and Paw Patrol saved her beautiful soul. Needless to say, she was not pregnant. Sasha is heartworm negative, spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and dewormed. Sasha is very active and agile so needs a fenced yard with lots of toys and room to run and play. She hasn't been tested with kids but her foster family thinks she will be ok with older kids that will play with her. She has learned so many manners since coming to us. Sasha sits and stays on command, waits to eat until told to do so, and goes to her kennel when told it is time for bed or her foster family needs to go out. As you can see, she loves to cuddle with her foster brother or chill out in the recliner. Also, after a long day of puppy playing, Sasha loves to cuddle with her favorite humans. Of all the things she can do, her cuddles are the best thing of all. Sasha's adoption fee is $175.All of our animals are vaccinated, micro-chipped and spayed/neutered before being adopted. Staffordshire Bull Terrier Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

This sweet soul has not had an easy life. She lived outdoors most of her life and was then abandoned when her owners moved. We are partnering up with Ruff Transport to find this girl an amazing forever home. Ruff Transport is paying for her heartworm treatment (because sadly she is heartworm positive) and her spay. We will just be helping network and possibly foster her after her treatment is done. She is a smaller Pit Bull but weighs in at a surprising 49lbs. She is so sweet. Has been around a small child and a teenager with her original owners. She has walked by children on a leash and been nothing but tail wags. She has not been anything ... (Read More)but friendly to everyone. The vets office staff loved her. Freedom lets them do all the procedures without an issue. She does well with other dogs. Honestly, she is the poster child for Pitties. She walks very well on a leash and next to other dogs. She is housebroken and will not go potty on cement or in a crate. She is getting more confident now, but used to drink every drop out of water bowls and not want to be outside alone. She is a very calm dog. She just wants to sit by you and sleep. She has free access in the house now (supervised of course to be sure she is calm due to heart worm treatment). She does not get over excited when loose so it has worked great. Very sweet personality and very dog friendly. Greets everything she meets with a wagging tail. Great with all people young and old.Freedom was cat tested and did very well with the cats laying around, but did get excited when one darted away. Has never had an accident in the house. Freedom walks great on a leash, rides well in the car. She wants to be with people. She loves toys. Her foster says she has medium energy level. She's not big on being in a crate and because of this she can be a bit of an escape artist. her foster says she does well being left out so far.     Katie, a senior boxer mix, is a good companion. She seems to be generally healthy, with a couple of growths on her nose and a slight hesitancy on the stairs showing her senior status. She was obviously a beloved member of her former family -- likes to sleep on chairs, expects people food (but not pushy), loves walks, and is used to having her wet paws wiped. She knows sit, shake, and maybe go lie down. Although hard of hearing, she hears loud hand claps In the yard. She was very casual in greeting yappy neighbor dogs through the fence. German Shepherd Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs

Hi there. My name is Luke. I am about 1 year old and I weigh about 50 lbs. I was surrendered to the pound and I am now looking for a new home. I am a very sweet and loving dog. I can be a little shy at first but I warm up quickly. I am good with other dogs and I like to play. I was an outside dog before I came in to the pound, so I will need work on my house training. If you're looking for a sweet dog to add to your family, please consider adopting me. Our adoption fee is $120.00. The adoption fee must be paid in CASH. We are unable to accept personal checks or credit/debit cards for adoption fees. ALL dogs/puppies adopted from our ... (Read More)shelter will receive their parvo distemper vaccine, bordetella vaccine, rabies vaccine (if aged at 12 weeks or older), be dewormed with a 3 day course of panacur dewormer, be microchipped, receive their current Ohio dog license and will be spayed or neutered. Animal ID: PPR17-21Daisy May (female)

Chihuahua Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Daisy May is a six-year-old Chihuahua mix that weighs seven pounds. She came to Puppy Pals Rescue as an owner surrender. Daisy May's previous owners informed us that she had been hit by a car about a year ago and at that time lost use of her left front leg. She is a very strong lady and overcame this handicap on her own. Little Daisy May does well using only three legs to walk, jump, and run. She can even climb stairs without difficulty. Her left front leg is contractured and bent. The Vet checked the damaged leg and said circulation was good and thought she had possible nerve damage which could not be repaired. It does seem that she ... (Read More)will use the bent leg for balance at times. Daisy May just loves to play with stuffed toys and sleeps next to one most of the time. She currently lives with two other Chihuahuas and does well with them. She does tend to want to be the boss. She lived with Peanut who is another Puppy Pals Rescue dog that was surrendered with her also. She will jump up on peoples' laps for petting. She is very social. She loves to get affection. She also runs and plays with the other dogs outside. Daisy May sleeps in the crate at night without any problems. She has not soiled her crate. She is 95% house broken and has an accident rarely. We are currently working on getting that to 100%. She is learning the sit command and does that about 70 % of the time. She has been spayed, micro chipped, had all her shots, fecal and heartworm tested and both were negative, and up to date on her flea and tick protection. During the physical examination she was found to have a heart murmur but has no symptoms and needs no medication to treat it at this time. Daisy May has not had an easy life for sure. Despite this she remains a sweet and affectionate lady. I am looking for a great forever home for this little lady. A single person or a retired person or family would be a great home for her. She has not been around children here so I don't know how she would be. She does not like cats. A fenced yard is preferred. If you can give her the great forever home she deserves, please fill out an adoption application for a meet and greet. If you have any questions please contact the foster home at the link found at http://www.puppypalsrescue.com/Dogs_DaisyMay1721.html. Fill out an application if you are interested in adopting this pup - you can find those at http://puppypalsrescue.com/Applications.html. (Email the foster home and let them know you applied so they can be sure the application is received!) Daisy May just can't wait to find a forever home! Thanks!!! (Less)

Our kinds are teenagers mind you. I hate to get rid of this beauty but just cant take the chance knowing the risks now. I do not want to put him down. He needs an owner just special for him. He has neurological issues with his spine which gives him some trouble walking and he can no longer handle steps. The spinal issue also causes him to be a little incontinent. If someone is home with him to let him out every few hours I think he would be fine because he knows he's supposed to go outside to use the bathroom but the issue is that me and my family are rarely home so my poor dog ends up being home alone very often and therefore he has accidents. It is not an every day thing by any means, its very ... (Read More)sporadic but it's all based on the neurological issues with his spine because we've been told he has numbness on his back end. Due to the increasing time we are spending away from home (work, commute time, after school activities), Bumpus is getting less and less attention. He is 11.5 years old and been with me since he was 6 weeks old. I absolutely hate the idea of giving him up but at the same time, I cannot stand the fact that he spends so much time alone and unfortunately that will not be changing anytime soon. He deserves to be happy in his senior years so my goal is to make sure he is with a family who can give him the love and attention he deserves. (Less)

She has the sweetest heart, she loves snuggles, and isn't a morning dog, so she will gladly tuck back under the covers if it's too early (it's really cute). She is very well house trained, I don't even put her in her cage throughout the day, she is extremely smart and knows lots of commands, and is able to learn them quickly. A few of Bella's downfalls is that she is ... (Read More)very anxious, she was attacked by a dog a few months ago, so she doesn't meet with new dogs very well, but if you can get her introduced to one properly, she LOVES to play. She does fine with all humans, the only reason why I put adults only is because since she loves to play to play so much, she plays kind of rough with younger kids. Other than that she is a loving puppy with lots of energy and lots of love, she just needs a nice fenced in yard for her to play in! If you have any questions feel free to contact me! Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament

THIS IS LOUIE'S STORY TOLD BY THE COMPASSIONATE VETERINARIAN WHO SAVED HIM, BUT MUST REHOME HIM TO GIVE HIM A BETTER LIFE!!!! Louie is an awesome dog. I love him like crazy and hate to think about rehoming him. But he's not as happy as should be here at my home. Louie has only one problem. He wants to be a house dog and my husband won't let him. It breaks my heart, but after over a year of negotiation, my husband will not let Louie be a house dog and Louie is not happy as a backyard dog. He just wants to be inside with his people. Louie is a two year old, male neutered, 60# Pit Bull. He loves playing with other dogs, loves playing with ... (Read More)my four year old daughter and gets along well with my indoor cats when he is in the house. He will chase outdoor cats if they run and will sometimes chew on things he shouldn't if left unsupervised, but he does crates well. His leash manners aren't perfect but he does well with a head halter which you can see in one of his pictures. He has been camping and to a festival with us and did great. I got Louie when he was 9 months old because he had been hit by a car and previous owner could not afford to fix his broken leg. I took him in because he was just too sweet to be euthanized for a broken leg and I had surgery done to fix his right femur. Then this February he had surgery again to repair his left knee because he tore his ACL. He is part of a clinical trial at MedVet and has one more recheck the first week of June. Because of his orthopedic problems he sometimes needs a boost to get into the car and will need to stay on joint supplements life long. But he can run and play without restrictions. I just want to see him go to a good home where he can be inside with his people rather than spending the bulk of his time banished to the backyard. IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN THIS SWEETHEART PLEASE RESPOND TO THIS POST. A VETERINARY REFERENCE AND A HOME VISIT IS REQUIRED. UPON ADOPTION, AN ADOPTION AGREEMENT MUST BE READ AND SIGNED. THANK YOU SO MUCH!! ADOPTION FEE IS $150.00 (Less)

She has had a rough beginnings at the hands of cruel humans... We rescued her at 9 months and she was not spayed nor were shots or wormings administered... And she has done very well... Animal ID: 1Santiago (male)

Pit Bull Mix    Age: Puppy

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Santiago is a very energetic puppy. He loves to play and run. He can be a bit jumpy when he's playing. He will need training as it appears he hasn't been taught anything. Very happy boy. 44 lbs. 1 year old. If you have questions or would like to meet the dog featured on this page, please call (216) 664-3476 to speak to an adoption representative at CITY DOGS Cleveland. Or email citydogs@city.cleveland.oh.us About Our Shelter... CITY DOGS Cleveland is a program of Cleveland Animal Care & Control (CACC), located at 2690 W. 7th St. Cleveland, OH 44113. Public hours are Monday through Saturday from 10am-3pm, and Sunday 12-2pm. The CITY DOGS ... (Read More)mission is to increase adoptions from the City Kennel by changing the image of the pit bulls who make up the majority of the kennel population, by preparing all adoptable dogs in the kennel for lives in loving homes and by creating as many opportunities as possible for the public to meet and get to know our dogs for the terrific pets they are meant to be. Our Adoption Process... Here's a little about how things work: All of the CITY DOGS posted for adoption are available for direct adoption from the kennel, unless noted otherwise. A handful of dogs are only available for rescue pull, which can be for a variety of reasons. You can either stop in during our open hours to meet a dog, or set up a meet and greet with your dog, which allows us to get the dog out of his/her cage for some exercise before you arrive. (Less)
