Lab Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Hi I'm Joey and I am just here looking for my forever home. I love my foster mum so much and I love hanging with all my pooch friends - I like to give them kisses; But I really want this thing called a 'forever home'. I'm a super playful boy, at only a year old I'm still a silly puppy sometimes, but I'm eager to learn and I'm super smart so we can learn stuff together. I'd be happy with a family of my own, another dog, maybe some small people. But if it's just you, I'm happy with that too, I can smother you in kisses! I'm working really hard on my training right now, so if you would like to teach and learn with me, get in tough quick - ... (Read More)I'm pretty handsome and I won't be here long, so they keep telling me. *All of The Right to Live dogs are fostered locally in San Antonio Texas and will be transported to other states to their new families upon adoption. Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

I have a four year old blue nose pit, she is dog reactive but with the right training could be with small dogs. We've contacted almost every shelter and rescue in the PNW. They all reject her for her aggression history. I really don't want her to end up in a fighting scene again or with a family with kids. I really need help. I have two other dogs and they just don't get along. I have all her vet records as well. I really don't want her to be euthanized which is what any other shelter will do. Please help me! -

We tried to make him fit in our family, we have 4 other dogs, because Carlos needed a home. But he is too protective and nips the other dogs when they try to approach us. He is otherwise healthy, strong and active. He is 1 1/2 years old and house broke. He has had training on a leash.

Hello, I'm Gaia! I'm three years old, purebred, registered Aussie female, 64 lbs, spayed. I have a very affectionate, expressive personality and can be a little velcro at times, but I listen very well, know my basic commands. I am sometimes so happy to see you that I will wiggle my whole body! I love going for walks and hikes, playing frisbee and ball, and having my belly rubs before going to sleep at night. I'm great on leash too. I love car rides, meeting people, although mostly women as I'm a little afraid of men and sometimes growl. I'll eventually warm up and accept them once I get to know them better though, my foster dad has helped me ... (Read More)realize many men are a-ok. I get along with other dogs my size, although I might be best as an only dog because I want all of the attention! I've played well with a 4 year-old child, show interest in small critters but will respond with a firm 'no' command when you want me to stop. If you are an active person and want a loving companion, I'm here waiting, in Fort Rock Oregon! If you want me to be part of your family, please fill out the application: http://www.australianshepherdsfurever.org/adoption-application My adoption fee is $325 and all fees are used for future rescue efforts. Shelter number 541 474-5458 for status of availability as some may have been adopted since this post, and about any pending spay/neuter surgery if noted as sometimes spay/neuter appointment may be sooner if a cancellation is available. Dogs noted as a Great American Shelter Dog are noted as such because we are not sure of the breed and can only give out best guess. See more at: www.savethewhiskers.org Alternate Contact Raleigh@savethewhiskers.org or text 541 660 6578 name of dog. It is always nice if you send an inquiry about a specific adoptable guest via email to tell us about you, your family and other pets, your yard, and most importantly, your expectations of your new family member so we can answer your questions appropriately as best as possible. Please, if you email an inquiry, please understand that these animals are in the shelter for a variety of reasons: Their lives are upside down maybe because owner died, they got lost, were abandoned, owner lost home or had a life event that left their pet in need of a new home. We don't always know how they will get along with all dogs, all children. Some won't be a perfect family member right away! They will need love, patience, a strong owner who will let them know what is expected of them and what they can expect from their new family. It may take an afternoon or it may take a week or so! But they need homes and families who will bring them back to knowing what family is! General Adoption Fees for Dog: Adult dogs and puppies- $125, Senior dogs 7 and over $50. Veterans are half price / $62.50 with presentation of government issued VA ID. For Josephine County fee includes first year licensing. Please visit the shelter or if need special arrangements for meet and greet please email me. If you have a dog- encourage you to bring also. Staff may be unable to answer calls right away, so you may contact me via email if you cannot get to shelter right away! You are encouraged to make your best effort to go during normal business hours. Note: Often times we are asked 'what about cats'?' Please be advised that we cannot guarantee a dog's behavior with a cat; sometimes the dog is fine with a cat- but cat not so happy about his canine intruder! If we know emphatically that a dog could take issue with a cat, livestock or chickens- will be stated in body of biography!     Hi, I'm Cooper! I'm a 5 year old boy who weighs 90lbs (would love to get into shape, though!). Do you like chicken? ME TOO! In fact, my love of chickens sometimes takes over my brain, so I'm looking for a home without chickens, birds, cats, or any other little smelly things that taste good. I am socialized with other dogs and would do best with other well-mannered dogs. I was living as an outdoor dog, so I am adjusting to the inside life--I like it so far! So far, people are really fun to play with and walks on a leash are a good opportunity to get some much needed exercise. I'm not a fan of being restrained and all the up close and personal ... (Read More)hands-on stuff is new to me, so I need someone to take it slow. I have great manners already with people: I don't jump up and meet people very politely. I love to be pet and have my butt scratched!!!! Available at the Josephine County Animal Shelter, 1420 Brookside Blvd. 1.5 miles off I-5. in Merlin.     Hi friends, I'm Sirloin! I'm about 3 years old and weigh 67lbs. I'm a strikingly handsome guy, I know, but take some time to get to know my personality, please! My background is a bit of a mystery, since I came in as a stray, but here at the shelter, I have been very social with new people and love to make new friends. I have gotten along with some dogs, but it depends on the dog--I would do better in a home without cats or small dogs. I'm a shepherd through and through and have an amazing drive. I'm smart and active and need some outlets for my mental and physical energy. I also show some signs of anxiety and would be better off with an ... (Read More)experienced handler.     This little puppy is a total guess for breeds. He is pretty small, long body and ears seem to be heading up wards on a daily basis. He is very very snuggly and sweet and low key. He looks like maybe 20-30 lbs if that at adulthood? But really hard to say. Really nice, easy going little puppy.

Australian Shepherd Mix    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Not Good with Other Dogs
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Fearful/Anxious

Maui is a 10yr old Aussie/German Shepard. I've had her for 6 years. It's been a challenge to embrace her not being comfortable with other dogs. She needs a more dominant owner that knows how to do that with lot's of encouragement. I mostly just struggle with time and money to take the best care of her. I've gotten her over her allergies and fear of children, but the leash/dog aggression hangs on. I think she could get over this too if she had more opportunity to get time with other dogs.

Tosh is a very protective and loyal dog. She is great with kids but nervous around new people, especially men. She has however done great with my husband. We are sad to have to re home her. I am trying to find placement for her as quickly as possible since our landlord is not comfortable having her on the property. Giselle has a sad sad past but meeting her you would never know that. She is AMAZING with kids, holy cow we have not seen a dog with more patience and kids seem to love her as well. Giselle loves to go on walks, loves to be around people, and loves good ol' belly rubs. Most pass her by because she does have some cosmetic issues with her skin. Both parents and kids are away fromhome long hours and we feel that Riley would be better off with someone who could give him more attention than he is receiving. Riley loves open space so if you have a large backyard like we do, he loves to play and chase balls that are thrown to him. He also knows basic commands like sit, lie down and he waits to be told to go outside before he runs outside on his own.

Bernese Mountain Dog Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

It's with a very very heavy heart and under extreme circumstances that are beyond my control that I must rehome my boy Angus. He is half Bernese and half Great Pyrenees and 120 lb of just pure love. He is used to being on property he is very vocal gets along great with cats and other dogs also he is used to being around horses. He has to be in the home with at least one other dog as he will get very lonely if he's not he loves to play. He is neutered just had eyelid surgery as he had a curled in eyelid but it's all healed now and he has all of his shots. If you need more information you can private message me. I am not charging for him ... (Read More)even though upto today I have spent over $4500 in vet bills on him. I don't need to see money in order to know he's going to a good home' I would rather somebody take that money they would have spent on a rehoming fee and spend it on him maybe some new toys or a new bed. I am going to be picky as I rescued him at 7 weeks old from poor conditions he almost died so he's had three surgeries since I've owned him and now he's very healthy boy. He loves the outdoors he loves the cold weather does not like swimming or water but he does like coming inside and being with his humans the one thing he does not like being is alone. I take him to the groomers as his fur is impossible to do myself he has double dew claws on his back feet they don't get in the way. In the summer I have him shaved he seems to be much happier and more comfortable . He has a stubborn streak he doesn't do very well on the leash because he's been used to running free with his pals on a fenced-in couple of Acres. Currently we are in Oregon. I would have to see the location and have several references and have a commitment that he will be taken care of like he is supposed to including quality food, flea prevention , heartworm prevention I also give him glucosamine because I do not want him to have problems with his joints. I'm going to be picky as I want him to have a forever home. This big boy will capture your heart as he has captured mine. Sometimes in life you have to do what's right and what's good for the animal. Finding him a place where he will have a forever home and live out the rest of his days like the big dopey love bug that he is would make this decision just a little bit less hard :( (me crying) as everyone who knows me knows I love him more than anything in the world.     Bonnie has lived with our family since she left her breeder at 12 weeks old. She is 6, has excellent dog park manners, is gentle with quiet children and gets excited around children who are rough housing. She has visited houses with other dogs and is polite, but may need training on accepting strange dogs into her home--my fault, I didn't think of conditioning her for that when she was young. She has lived with cats her whole life and has never harmed one, but she also won't walk away from a hissing cat, if they are calm when up close she just smells them.     All hail! Cezar! Cezar is a 6 year old boy who weighs in at 97lbs. But what breed is he? We identify this big boy as a Great American Shelter Dog! He looks like a cattle dog- but on the ginormous side; his size suggest big lab or german shepherd; he is quite the puzzle. But what ever his breed, Cezar is quick to make friends and will lean right into your legs for a hug. He has nice manners, including on a leash. Cezar has lived with cats, but isn't great with other dogs. He's ready to find love! Available at the Josephine County Animal Shelter, 1420 Brookside Blvd. 1.5 miles off I-5. in Merlin. With few exceptions Dogs are current on vaccinations, rabies, spay or neutered, and microchipped upon adoption PLEASE READ ENTIRE NOTATIONS BELOW. The most common question is 'Good with Cats?' If we know has lived with cats or farm animals will be stated above in biography. Otherwise- we don't know. If you inquire by email- please tell us about you, your family, your yard, other animals, children, and your expectations of your new pet and what your new pet can expect from you. When you do so, we can better address your inquiry. Puppies: Please understand they are puppies; not potty trained; not good or bad with kids, dogs, cats. They are pliable puppies ready for you to imprint good manners, social skills, and training. You are encouraged to follow up with training after they are finished with shot series and or at the direction of your veterinarian. A happy healthy well socialized puppy is a happy family! You may be asked to make a refundable deposit for spay/neutering. Inquire at the Shelter. Hondo is a happy, playful boy who needs a job. He loves to be outside and is always sniffing around. Loves to play fetch with a ball, but is also content to run laps in the yard while his parents are at work. He is an indoor/outdoor dog. He knows basic commands- sit, stay, lay down, off, and does well on a leash. He sticks close to his family and can easily walk off leash while hiking. His herding instinct is strong and he would love to work on a farm. He doesn't have much experience with other dogs, and seems to prefer to be with a one dog family. Never been around cats.     I'm Joe Joe! I'm a 1 year old boy who weighs 59lb presumed Pit Mix- maybe some cattle dog in there,- and am on the lookout for a new family. I'm very wiggly, sweet, and active! I have met some female dogs politely, but can be a bit dominant so would do best with a tolerant female. I am not a fan of male dogs. Human friends are my favorite and I do not have a shy bone in my body. You know what goes great with Joe Joes? Chicken strips! Will you be my chicken strip?? Joe Joe has what is referred to as 'Happy Tail'- which is an oxymoron- because it is really a 'Sad Tail'. Shelter Friends will follow up at the direction of approved veterinarian ... (Read More)to treat his 'happy tail' which could just entail proper bandaging or - the extreme treatment of partial amputation if proper bandaging doesn't take care of the problem. What is 'Happy Tail'? It is when all that tail wagging happy injures the tip of the tail- and now you have a tip of tail paintbrush splattering blood- . That is ok if it is just on a canvass as Dog Art-, but unfortunately- that splatter is alarming on your white walls, but more importantly is the concern of prolonged damage and subsequent infection.%A0 An appointment will be scheduled for treatment. But don't let this stop you from meeting or adopting Joe Joe in the meantime.%A0 Available at the Josephine County Animal Shelter, 1420 Brookside Blvd. 1.5 miles off I-5. in Merlin.     Tank is 7 years old. A pretty obedient dog except when it comes to livestock. I'm looking to place him with the right family. He loves playing ball and walking on a leash. Best with a good fenced yard and he prefers to be an indoor dog. He will chase down deer and small goats. He doesn't chase chickens which he freely roams with them, but squirrels and small livestock animals he does not do well with. He knows basic commands but is pretty stubborn when he wants to be. Comes with clapping of hands. He does well with my cats, but not stray cats. He loves playing ball and does well with children, in fact, he really adores children who will play ...     We are rehoming our family dog of 4 Years. Our location- Sandy/Estacada, OR Harley: White Siberian Husky Male 4 Years Old All shots up to date Not Neutered Seeking an energetic and athletic home. Harley loves to run, hike, go boating, and would prefer a childless home with room to roam. If you don't have the land but are active daily with him (I.e. walks and runs, he will be happy as well). Harley is very domesticated, spends most of his time inside with his person, likes to sleep with you or will sleep on his bed/in his kennel next to your bed. Alpha tempered. Although he does get along with other large breed dogs in the home and has ... (Read More)always had a companion, he usually presumes to be the pack leader. With that said he is kennel trained, leash trained, sits, lays down, shakes, speaks... and actually says 'I luv you' Ideally he would fit best with a childless couple (again he is Alpha & spoiled so he is bad with pecking order, but actually wonderful around children and loves them). He also would fit great with a single individual who is either athletic and takes there dog everywhere with them, or even a mature personal who walks daily. He will definitely still your heart instantly. If interested please email jaybird2987@gmail.com (Less)

Cheyenne will be 7 in March. She has been a part of our family since she was a puppy. She is very friendly, smart, is great with kids, loves to play fetch and is an all around, great family dog. Our one issue is.. if there is another dog around, she will lead the other dog and they will run off. She suddenly started doing this about a year ago. She has not run off when shes alone. We work a lot and wonder if she just needs more attention. Am looking for a home for Cheyenne where she can have your time. She is a fantastic girl.

Bubba is a wonderfully loving and loyal dog. We adopted Bubba from a Bulldog Rescue about a year ago and have worked very hard with him. He is house-broken and trained on a number of commands (on blanket, sit, stay, come). He is great with kids and attaches himself strongly to the female head of household. However, due to the home he was saved from, he has some issues with adult males and other dogs. He doesn't bark or bite, but he does get domineering on walks or when adult males come over (he lunges and/or mounts). Our challenge is that we are a very busy and active family and yet we can't take Bubba anywhere with us due to his behaviors. ... (Read More)Additionally, we live on a large unfenced property, so we also can't just let him out for exercise and he gets some PTSD when we've tried to tether him. The best Bubba has ever been with visitors is when my mother-in-law comes to visit, he loves her and just follows her around the house, but she is in a retirement home, so not able to rehome with her. He needs a home with a fenced yard so he can get exercise without fear of him running off after someone/something and with someone who can be around more often with him, since he can't really go out and about with the family. There should be no other dogs or no cats (he chases). He can be with a family, just be prepared it will take him some time to build trust with the adult male. If you think you are the perfect home for Bubba, please feel free to contact me with any questions you have. (Less)

She is very sweet and playful. She is crate trained. We are still working on potty training. She has been microchipped. She weighs 70 pounds. She does show aggression towards other animals. I would prefer for her to go to a home that has experience with malamutes. I will require a home visit prior to adoption.

Australian Cattle Dog Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults

Great young boy with some preliminary obedience classes. Owner has no time, but four acres, so Watson loves to run. Raised with cats, another aged German Shepherd, and three kids ( 3/6/9 yrs old). Will chase the cats unless they scratch him first-- killed three hens and one rooster. The cattle dog in him wants to chase things, but he's very intelligent! I've seen no aggression from the pit bull side, but one reason I wish my daughter could keep him is that he's very loving and would be a ferociously protective pet. Watson dotes (really, it's comical) on my 3 yr old granddaughter, but does NOT like it when the 6 yr old grandson grabs his ... (Read More)neck just to be a pest. I WOULD KEEP THIS DOG if I had the time to take him running every day and finish his obedience training. Best idea would be to get him neutered, also. Pit Bull Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament

OJ is a 4 year old, 64 lb boy. OJ is a confident fella who isn't phased by much. He is very well behaved around other dogs and enjoys their company. He is independent, but break through that hard shell, and you'll have a flopped over dog in your lap in no time. OJ can be a bit protective of his stuff, so may do better with adults. He's athletic--a 6 foot fence is a climbing wall and up and over he'll go, so leash walks or supervised time outside is a must for him. PS a generous donor has sponsored my adoption fee!     The many faces of Petey! Hard to choose just one photo when you look so cute in so many ways. Petey is a young pup, perhaps 8-10 months old. He already weighs 62lbs and is a strong boy. Petey is exuberant and LOVES to meet new people; he is certainly not shy! He is working on manners like leash walking and not jumping on people, which shouldn't be too hard to learn since all he wants is to please. We believe that Petey is mostly deaf and will need a special home where he can have specialized training to ensure his safety. Petey is very excitable around other dogs--to the point where it can be offputting for them. He tends to get himself into ... (Read More)trouble if the dogs don't know him. I chase after cats and cannot live with them. I get along great with other big, friendly dogs. If I'm off leash and you're not there to direct me when an aggressive dog comes after me, I will attack the other dog and try to make it leave me alone.

Woof! I'M DARRYL! I'm a happy-go-lucky lab-pittie mix with floppy ears. I'm 3 years old on paper, but honestly, I feel like I'm a puppy. I'm full of life and fun! I have an outgoing and affectionate personality. I was tested with another dog and did fine, but I'm very puppy-ish and I could probably use some basic training. I will do well because I'm smart and eager to please. I'd love an active family who hikes, walks on the beach, or plays ball. I weigh 56 lbs., am neutered, and up-to-date on my shots. I've been in a kennel for a few months and really need a home! Please call or email today!

Hi, I'm King, the belly rub King. I don't think there is anything a good old belly rub can't fix, I just love them. Now what do you want to know? Walks? I love them and I'm great on them. People? Love them too, the big kids and the small kids, if you're a people I love you - easy! Other dogs? Love them too.... happy to have them around but it's also cool if we don't. Lazing around the house? I am right there with you. I'm just a happy boy looking for the same thing as all the other dogs - a place to call home and people to call family. *All of The Right to Live dogs are fostered locally in San Antonio Texas and will be ... I love being pet, petting is the best ever. I am more than happy to have doggy friends or not, up to you. I am also happy to have you all to myself. I don't mind going in my kennel, my foster mum says I'm pretty quiet in it. Oh and Rosemary bushes..... I like them.... a.... lot. I love to roll in them. I'm pretty sure this is a goo
