Rescue Me ID: 15-03-30-00003Mickey (male)

Norwegian Elkhound    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Adult Women Only
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

I adopted Mickey 6 months ago from a regional Norwegian Elkhound Rescue group on a trial basis. He is pure bred from a breeder and was the only puppy in his litter. He is the smartest, most trainable Elkhound I've known and was involved in agility prior to me adopting him. I continued agility with him to provide ongoing guidance/bonding, as well as engaged him daily in training exercises - he is very well behaved. He is VERY affectionate and immediately stole my heart. HOWEVER, he has some fear aggression and has bitten a person who was new to him once. While I have tried to work with Mickey, the fear aggression is not compatible with ... (Read More)my active and social lifestyle as I encounter strangers and other dogs regularly. I hope someone can give him a second chance who has a home where: 1) they can continue to work to minimize his fear aggression; 2) the people do not have expectations of having their dog interact with new dogs and people regularly; and 3) the adopters are up for the ongoing vigilance and attention required to prevent a second bite. I was not made aware of any aggression towards humans prior to my own adoption of him, and consequently I want to be very upfront about this issue. Because it will be difficult to place him in a shelter or new home with his one bite track record, I have been advised that euthanasia may be the most practical recourse. I would like to prevent this from happening. (Less)

Papillon Mix    Age: Young Puppy

We were adopted by Chico as a puppy when he ran and jumped into my daughter's arms at the park just before Christmas 2013. We run a daycare and have three cats and another dog so he's good with kids and other animals just gets jealous easy. He loves attention and lap time. He can get aggressive by barking at other dogs or people who enter the home but we've been working on that and he's getting used to transitions. Car rides are no problem if he isn't in a crate. Yorkie Mix    Age: Young Adult

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

She is a rescue that i got from Friends of Coos County Animals when I lived there a year and a half ago. She had temperament issues at the time. I have worked with her and resolved most of them. She will now walk on a leash and she loves to be in your lap and receive affection. She still has issues with grooming and it has to be done slowly. A muzzle is needed for toenail grooming. The biggest dilemma now now is she is still aggressive/dominant towards other dogs, but is fine with and mostly will ignore cats. Highly suggested no other dogs in the house (outside on walks seems to be ok). I would introduce kids carefully. Unknown how she might ... (Read More)react. She is micro-chipped. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-03-25-00274Mandy (female)

Pit Bull Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Mandy is a little lover who thinks she is a lap dog although she's about 50lbs! We adopted her 2 years ago as a companion for our 15 year old male GS. She is microchiped and e-collar trained through sit means sit. She will come with the collar and extra training on how to use it with her. Her past is unknown to us, she may have been abused as she has scars and marks on her face legs and hindquarters. She was severely malnourished, but we give her the highest quality dog food and supplements and she has thrived! She has a huge back yard that she loves to run around and chase sqirrles , but is very much in need of daily walks. Her energy is ... (Read More)medium-high, we walk her with the e-collar to manage her excitability. Mandy is house trained and has a dog door with free range of the whole house and yard. Her one downfall is that she is highly reactive to fence-agressive dogs. She will not instigate, but if the dogs on the other side start a ruckus she gets into it too. We just had our first child, he is 7 weeks old and between being up all night caring for him and caring for a geriatric dog who suffers from daily bowel incontinence we just don't have the time and energy to devote to Mandy at the level she deserves. If you are a runner, cyclists or outdoor enthusiasts Mandy is the gal for you! She loves adventures and is full of life and love for whomever will take her on one! (Less)

Animal ID: 0230Rusty (male)

Australian Shepherd    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered

Rusty is an 8-10 8 year old, red -tri He is neutered, almost 60 lbs, UTD. Good with older kids/teenagers and adults and is housebroken and crate trained. Crating him can trigger anxiety as it was used for punishment by previous owner. He has full house access, and is not destructive. He is okay on leash, needs some work and is good in the car. Health issues: Lenticular sclerosis or a blue tint discoloration to his Pupil which is common in dogs over the age of 8. He also (DLE) Discoid Lupus Erythematosus or Nasal Solar Dermatitis. He was given Prednisone for this and it did not work, so we are going to try an MSM on his nose. It has ... (Read More)healed up since we started him on Coconut oil, but he will need to have it protected in sunlight. He also has Broken Canines and worn teeth from chewing through a Chain Link fence as well as a sore on his back left foot that the Vet and I think is a injury. Personality/Bio: Rusty is a very Sweet boy, who loves attention and will cuddle for extended periods of time. He is a Confident Male so he has to be watched around other dogs as he will 'stand up on them' in challenge. It isn't aggression, but another 'Confident' dog may dislike this behavior. He was taught to put his paws on you in treating and will jump at your hand when he thinks you have food or a treat. I think his treats were held up in the air and he had to jump to get them. There are years of very poor behavior training that we are trying to undo. Rusty lacks impulse control when it comes to food, and did not know how to play 'normally'. I cannot stress how loving of a guy he is. He loves to lay next to you and be petted. He soaks up attention, and over all is very quite, rarely barks, and does not seem to react to skateboarders or other distractions that send my other Aussies into alert. He will respond when another dog is barking, but only to see for himself what is going on. Rusty would make a wonderful pet for an older or retired family that is looking for a fairly laid back Aussie with daily walks and a little play I can see his energy level easily increasing if someone were more active with him. He needs someone that will be home with him the majority of time, or take him with them. He loves attention but will just 'hang out' if you are busy, and as a typical Aussie, will follow you around to be in the same room or area you are. He tries very hard to learn what you want from him, but when it comes to food or treats he can be very intense. He is not food aggressive, you can pet him while he is eating and even take food out of his mouth, he is just very food driven. Rusty will not self regulate with food, he will eat until he makes himself sick, so he will need 3 structured small meals a day. If he eats more than a 1/2 cup of food at a time, he will regurgitate it an hour or so afterwards. He will need work on slowing down when he eats to help with this issue If you would like to fill out an application go to australianshepherdsfurever.org and click the 'need furever homes' link at the top of the page. Pit Bull    Age: Puppy

Personality: High Energy, Submissive
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Abused/Neglected,
 Aggressive

I have been desperately trying to reach out to get this boy some help. He was abandoned and found malnourished, living in his own urine and feces, believed to be used as a 'bait' dog, understandably has trust issues, is intelligent, a quick learner, has a lot of potential, and needs a forever loving home that can provide professional training with lots of patience and unconditional love. I saved his life, but now he needs a real chance with professional training, so he can know how life really is supposed to be. I do not know what I am doing, nor do I have the time.

She is full of energy and does best with a similar-sized, high-energy friend to play with and lots of things to chew! She gets along well with other friendly dogs. Lucy is good ... (Read More)on leash, crate-trained, and house-trained. She is a beautiful girl and very affectionate. She particularly loves men and will shamelessly ask for belly rubs. She needs an active lifestyle to be happy, and is not a couch potato. The ideal owner will be a homeowner, who owns another dog and is committed to walking or running with Lucy daily. To make her a great dog she should also attend some formal obedience classes. Lucy seems to really like water too. She has been in foster care with children, small to very large dogs, and is good with both. She is not recommended for cats as she will chase them and bugs them more than they like to be bugged! Lucy is a bit energetic for very-young kids, but would do fine with older ones. Please email Street Savvy Dog Rescue at saxandthat@comcast.net for an adoption form! RESCUED IS OUR FAVORITE BREED! Treeing Walker Coonhound    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

We found this sweetie two weeks ago in the field behind our house. We volunteered to foster her until her owners were found or until she was adopted. Sadly, no one has come looking for her (hard to believe since she's such a sweetie), and so she is now available for adoption. We named her Daisy Mae, and she is a Tennessee Walker Hound. The vet estimates that she's approximately 4 years old. She came to us with an injured leg, but it's healing really nicely. She was also super skinny, but she's already filling in. She's a love bug, super sweet, smart, full of energy, playful, good on a leash, healthy, great with people, dogs, and (as far ... (Read More)as we can tell) cats, and she rarely barks. She's on the submissive side, super friendly, and has never shown any aggression. As far as we can tell, she hasn't had any training, but she's really smart and is already learning. She likes to chew, but she's good about being redirected to appropriate chew toys/bones. She has a ton of energy and just wants to play, run, and be part of the family. With a bit of love, she will make a wonderful family dog for someone who has the time and energy and space to work with her consistently. She will need a secure yard and someone who can walk her at least once per day. Serious inquiries only, please. This sweet girl has been through a lot, and we want to make sure her next home is her forever home.     The adorable Fanny May! This sweet girl is excited about life! Fanny is looking for an experienced owner who will help continue to provide her with the structure and boundaries she needs to thrive. Fanny came to us from a previous rescue that had deemed her 'un-adoptable' because they thought she was highly aggressive towards other animals, we saw a very different side to her and quickly evaluated that this was certainly not the case! Fanny loves the company of other dogs and can be very vocal about things when she is excited or over stimulated. This unfortunately often gets misinterpreted as 'aggression'. Fanny is truly just a playful love ... (Read More)bug who in learning all about appropriate play with other dogs. Fanny has been gaining more and more impulse control and has proven to be a very smart pup. We know with some continued training she is going to be an amazing and very well-behaved dog. When it comes to people Fanny knows no stranger, everyone is Fanny's friend and she is eger to greet them with a slobbery smooch. :) We are sure this pup has never had a human of her own to bond with or enjoyed a comfortable life inside of a home but it's clear thats what her little heart is after. We are requiring that adopters please have dog handling experience and are willing to continue working with a trainer post adoption.     Sweet Ronald, this precious boy has had a rough start to life but it hasn't damaged his incredible spirit one bit. This boy is all LOVE. Ronald has one of the gentlest puppy personalities we have ever encountered. He is extremely attentive and loves to make his people happy. Ronald does great with other dogs of all sizes and is currently living in foster with multiple cats and does wonderful with them. Rescue Me ID: 15-03-10-00676Bagheera (male)

American Staffordshire Terrier Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Bagheera has a heart of gold. He is eager to please his human, adapts well to new environments and new people, is an amazing snuggle buddy, and he plays fetch like a pro. Bagheera is turning 4 years old this year, and is 57lbs, neutered, and up to date on his shots. Bagheera would do well in a home where he can luxuriate in his human's presence, exercise moderately (game of fetch a day keeps the boy happy), and then rest his big ol' head in your lap while you chill out on the couch. He knows a lot of basic commands like sit, stay, chill (lay down), off, drop it, leave it, sit pretty. He is really well trained around food. He will sit ... (Read More)looking at his human waiting patiently for meals and won't eat the food set out before him until given the ok. You can take his bowl away mid meal and he'll sit down and wait for you to give it back. He has no food or toy aggression/possessiveness. He LOVES people. He does not currently live with children but has been around infants and toddlers at a daycare facility and has been around young children at a preschool. Bagheera does however tend to be selective with other dogs. He would like a home where his human will avoid dog parks and pick his dog friends (if any) carefully. Bagheera also has a bit of a hip issue, but not one to be too concerned about. He walks and runs fine, but will avoid putting too much weight on that leg. Too much running or hiking can irritate it, but he does need mild to moderate exercise to keep him happy, and some good supplements and monitoring would do him good as well. He needs a home with a fenced yard. No other animals in the home. Bagheera will come with his bed, favorite rope toy, and his medical records. (Less)

White Shepherd    Age: Adult

TEXAS was saved from San Antonio Animal Care Services on 6th March 2015. Although he did get up and about in his kennel there, he refused to walk when I went to pick him up, so he had to be carried out of the kennel, through the shelter and out to the car. It appeared he was just being extremely stubborn as when I got him back home to the rescue he was up and walking about no problem. He spent the first few days in the treatment area that I use as a transition area to let the dogs get used to the environment before coming into the house amongst all the dogs. The next day he came to greet me wagging his tail and clearly happy to see me and ... (Read More)he has been a happy boy ever since. TEXAS is good with the other dogs although he is not wanting to go running around with them he is social but is happy to chill out. TEXAS still has energy and although he has been aged around 5 years old, he will still need a family that can take him on walks and give him the important and necessary mental and physical exercise that German Shepherd Dogs need to live a truly happy, fulfilling life. TEXAS is a gentle boy, who like all dogs will benefit from basic and advanced obedience training with his new family. This not only creates a stronger bond, but also sets boundaries and expectations. It also allows both humans and dogs to learn each others body language and personalities. TEXAS does have a long coat and so will require a high level of grooming and upkeep, daily brushing is an absolute minimum. TEXAS is neutered, rabies, core vaccines, de-wormed, heart-worm tested negative and micro-chipped. He has been given a date of birth or around 2nd March 2010 and at the time of rescue he weighed 73.20 pounds. TEXAS is available for adoption through Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue for an adoption fee of $350. Transport - West Coast Although LOCATED in TEXAS we are using Paws Without Borders, a highly reputable animal rescue transport company to re-locate our dogs from rescue to meet their families along the West Coast, raveling up I5 as far as Everett, WA (This allows us to save more dogs from the high rate kill shelters here in Texas).     PANTHA was saved from BARC Animal Shelter in Houston on 24th February 2015. I had been up during the early hours catching up on paperwork and decided to send the rescue hold on her before I went to bed. It is very lucky that I did as this is the response I got from the shelter first thing the following morning: A1298048 was scheduled to be PTS today but I have placed a hold for your group. Below are notes from our behaviorist on the dog. We are full to capacity in our evaluation building so if possible to pick up today by 530pm it will be appreciated. If you cant today then as early as 9am on Tuesday is ok. Please confirm you can pull ... (Read More)A1298048. Notes from Behaviorist at BARC Animal Shelter, Houston - 22 February 2015 This dog is very fearful, but likes people and dogs. She may be sound-sensitive, or just extremely stressed at BARC. She does not cooperate with having a leash put on, but can be conditioned into it quickly. She eats chicken in her kennel, but once out does not. She will walk with me on a leash, but does not want to go through doors - but can be coaxed. She does not want to go outside, mostly wants to go back to her kennel - but will calm and explore after some time out in the hall. She readily goes up to people and solicits affection, but she is too big and too scared to go to Adoptions - she has not been defensive yet, but she is too close to defense to put in adoptions with all the excitement there. Since being at the rescue PANTHA has been a different dog than has been described at the shelter, which is quite common since German Shepherd Dogs do not do well in shelter environments. PANTHA is comfortable with the other dogs of all ages and sizes here at the rescue. She is extremely affectionate and likes to be close by my side whenever she can - although that is true for all the other German Shepherd Dogs we have in rescue also. PANTHA eats with the other dogs, she sleeps with the other dogs and has not shown any fear or aggression on any level. PANTHA is very gentle and well mannered, she doesn't jump up, she walks nicely on a leash. All dogs benefit from basic and advanced obedience training with their new families. This not only helps with bonding, but sets boundaries and expectations. It also allows human and dog to learn each others body languages and personalities which is key to a happy life together. We do not have cats in the rescue so we cannot comment on how she will act around them. Although she hasn't been around small children here at the rescue, I do not see any problems due to her gentle demeanor, but this will of course depend on how the children respect and treat her. PANTHA will benefit from a family that is active and understands the mental and physical needs of the German Shepherd Dog. Who have the time to take her to different places so she can explore and take in the sights, smells and sounds of the world. PANTHA is spayed, rabies, core vaccines, de-wormed and heart-worm tested negative. She has a date of birth of approximately 23rd February 2012 and at the time or rescue weighed 70 pounds. PANTHA is available for adoption for an adoption fee of $350 Transport - West Coast Although LOCATED in TEXAS we are using Paws Without Borders, a highly reputable animal rescue transport company to re-locate our dogs from rescue to meet their families along the West Coast, raveling up I5 as far as Everett, WA (This allows us to save more dogs from the high rate kill shelters here in Texas). German Shepherd    Age: Young Adult

Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

CHUPI was saved from Fort Worth Animal Care Services on 28th February 2015. CHUPI had been suffering from Demodex mange and skin infections. His feet were badly swollen and infected causing them to bleed when he walked. He was prescribed antibiotics and has been making great recovery. When CHUPI first came to rescue he was cautious being around the other dogs but this was more out of worry he would get his feet trodden on and so he was happy to hang out in the XL crate in the bedroom, or lie beside where ever I was. Over time with the healing he is venturing out a lot more and enjoys being outside with the other dogs, although still edging ... (Read More)slightly on the side of caution and not yet getting involved with the rambunctious playing around. CHUPI does great in the car and all transporters fell in love with him. He is a large boy and still has a good amount of weight to gain, but he is very gentlye with it. CHUPI is fine amongst the other dogs and has shared his crate with a small Norwich/Yorkshire Terrier mix and was happy to have her snuggle up to him. We do NOT have cats in the rescue so are unable to say how he is with cats. CHUPI doesn't have any training but he is very laid back and loving and I believe he would learn very quickly. CHUPI needs a family that understands both the mental and physical needs of the German Shepherd Dog and are able to provide him with lots of exercise, which is a lot more than just throwing a ball in the back-yard, he needs lots of stimulation, and going to different places and letting him take in the sights, sounds and smells the world has is a great way to do this, along training! CHUPI does need a family that is able to spend time and work with him on basic and advanced training. This not only helps form a stronger bond, but also allows boundaries and expectations to be set and for both human and dog to learn each others body language and personalities. CHUPI is neutered, rabies, core vaccines, de-wormed, heart-worm tested negative and micro-chipped. He has an estimated date of birth of 20 February 2012 and at the time of rescue weighed 75.4 pounds. CHUPI is available for adoption through Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue for an adoption fee of $350. Rescue Me ID: 15-03-04-00613BRANDY (female)

Norwich Terrier Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

BRANDY was saved from Montgomery County Animal Services on 28th February 2015. We believe her to be a Norwich Terrier mix, but are not certain of that. BRANDY was diagnosed as being heart-worm positive and we have her scheduled for treatment the week of 12th March 2015. BRANDY is a typical lap-terrier that likes to be wherever you go and will climb any barricade or obstacle to get to be where you are. She is confident being amongst puppies and large dogs and is more than happy to let the big dogs know to get out of her space. BRANDY is a loving affectionate girl that will climb into your lap and snuggle down at any and every opportunity. ... (Read More)She is agile and she is smart and will pick up on any kind of training very quickly. BRANDY is looking for a home that has the time to give her to train her and work with her on obedience, this not only helps bonding but will set boundaries and guidelines and allow BRANDY and her new family to learn each others personalities and body language. BRANDY being a small dogs is not in need of a large yard, but she still does need that mental and physical exercise and stimulation appropriate to her size. She is a young girl and has lots of years ahead of her so an active life-style now would suit her best. BRANDY is spayed, rabies, core vaccines, de-wormed, as mentioned she will be getting treated for heart-worm disease and is micro-chipped. She has an estimated date of birth of 26 August 2013 and at the time of rescue weighed 12 pounds, which seems a good weight for her. BRANDY is available for adoption through Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue for an adoption fee of $300. This is a private company and their transport fee (which is paid directly to them) are $150, $200, $250 depending on the crate size. Most of our dogs will be the $200 or $250 crate size. This fee is in addition to what you would pay the rescue for the adoption fee. If you are interested in adopting this precious soul, out application process and form can be found and submitted on our website under the APPLICATION tab. Rescue Me ID: 15-03-04-00478AMBROSIA (female)

Jack Russell Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

AMBROSIA was saved from Montgomery Animal Shelter on 28th February 2015. She was with 3 other puppies that are wire-haired terriers, so we are unsure of what breed she is. AMBROSIA was very fearful at first but once she got settled she became the sweetest love bug ever. She does air on the side of caution and will make sure that you really want her to come to you before she makes that step to come over. She is gaining confidence with time and although I am sure when she leaves the rescue she will be fully confident, I think she will again be cautious until she knows she can trust her new family. AMBROSIA gets on great with the other pups ... (Read More)and doesn't seem bothered with the older dogs. She plays great with the smaller pups and those her own age and size. We don't have cats in the rescue so we cannot say how she will act, however, since she is young, with correct guidance and training and letting her satisfy any curiosity I am confident she can live in harmony with any feline friends. AMBROSIA will benefit from a family that understands her need to learn to trust and who have the time and dedication to work with her on basic and advanced training. This not only helps form a strong bond, but also enables boundaries and expectations to be set and both family and her body language be learnt. AMBROSIA is spayed, rabies, core vaccines, de-wormed and micro-chipped. She is too young to be heart-worm tested but has been on prevention since arriving at the rescue. AMBROSIA has an estimated date of birth of 21 October 2015 and at the time of rescue she weighed 15.6 pounds, but was also very skinny. AMBROSIA is available for adoption through Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue for an adoption fee of $300. Rescue Me ID: 15-02-25-00346Roscoe (male)

Australian Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good with Other Dogs
Personality: High Energy, Very Dominant
Health: Vaccinations Current, Aggressive, Fearful/Anxious

Roscoe is an Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler and is a loyal, brave, hardworking, herding dog. One of the most intelligent breeds, he is not the kind of dog to sit around the living room all day or live happily in the backyard with only a 15-minute walk. He needs much more exercise than that and something to occupy his mind daily or he will become bored, leading to serious behavior problems. He needs lots of action in its life and will do best with a job. This alert dog is excellent in the obedience ring and will excel in agility and herding trials. Can be obedience trained to a very high level. Protective, he makes an excellent guard dog. ... (Read More)He is absolutely loyal and obedient to its master. Roscoe is aggressive towards people and dogs he doesn't know. His dominance level is high. If you can teach Roscoe that you are alpha and you will not tolerate him fighting with other dogs, he will be a great dog. He is good and trustworthy with our children but will nip at people's heels in an attempt to herd them. This breed is very easy to train. Problems have arisen because we are not able to provide him with the proper amount of exercise. This breed does best with a job to do. If you do not have time to extensively work with and exercise this dog, or do not fully understand canine instincts and their need to have leadership, this is not the breed for you. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-02-24-00138TACO (male)

German Shepherd    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

TACO was saved from San Antonio Animal Care Services on 18th December 2014, with severe demodex mange and skin infections, his feet were very swollen and bleeding. TACO came to rescue and started treatment and over time he started to do really well. Initially he would stay in his crate that was in the bedroom, but that was more as he didn't want the other dogs to stand on his very sore feet. Over time and healing TACO started to socialize more with the rest of the dogs and the more he healed the more he played. On 17th February he was neutered, he still has a good amount of hair to grow, but it is coming along great. TACO is a very sweet, ... (Read More)affectionate boy, when he has gained all his weight and fully recovered, he will truly be a magnificent sable boy. He loves playing with the other dogs, he is getting very active and would benefit from an active family who will be willing to take him on lots of adventures to different places. TACO will need basic and hopefully advanced training with his new family - this not only helps set down boundaries and expectations, but allows both dog and family learn each others personalities and body-language. TACO is going to be a big boy and will need plenty of exercise, both mental and physical. TACO is neutered, rabies, core vaccines, de-wormed, heart-worm tested negative and micro-chipped. He has a date of birth of around 16 December 2013 and at the time of his neuter surgery in February 2015 he weighed 59.0 pounds. TACO is available for adoption through Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue for an adoption fee of $350.     This is Falcore, he recently relocated with us from a house with a backyard to a one bedroom apt. Looking to rehome to a home with a yard and someone with above average dog experience. He is THE best dog that I have ever had, he lives with a cat and a baby. He is super sweet and cuddly. He knows basic commands, potty trained and doesn't chew. Moving with no space and half the attention due to the baby has caused him anxiety. He has no bite history and has frequented many dog parks in his day. Lately he will bark or growl at strangers and we are working to correct the behavior, we just do not have the time or the space. Please contact with ... (Read More)questions. Fee negotiable.     Meet Kingston! This handsome hunk is nothing but LOVE. Kingston came from a high kill shelter where he came very close to loosing his life due to space. As soon as we saw this boys video we knew we had to help! Kingston just adores people and is a major snuggle bug. You can tell he has lived majority of his life outdoors so he is so grateful to have a nice soft bed to lay on now. Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament

VALENTINE was saved from San Antonio Animal Care Services as one of our traditional Anniversary saves. She was scheduled to be killed and was looking up with those beautiful pleading eyes. She had demodex mange that has been treated and needed to gain some weight. VALENTINE came back to the rescue and her true personality started to shine. Her tail never stops wagging, she runs and plays with the other dogs, she lies as close to the bed as she can do, she walks beside me when I am outside with them all, she gives the sweetest kisses. VALENTINE is looking for a family that is not prejudice against her breed, she is looking for a family that ... VALENTINE is very gentle and loving and I think she would make an excellent family pet. VALENTINE is spayed, rabies, core vaccines, de-wormed, heart-worm negative and micro-chipped. She has an estimated date of birth of 11 February 2011 and at the time of rescue weighed around 40 pounds, but does need to gain some weight.     INKY was saved from San Antonio Animal Care Services. She was one of our traditional anniversary saves. INKY is a beautiful, loving girl. She is very affectionate and is very responsive. She does get a little bit jealous of the other dogs, but then she is living amongst 50 other dogs who all want my attention, however, this would be something to keep an eye on should any other pets be in the home. She has never been aggressive, just given warning growls. INKY is fairly active, being only 2 years old she would love a family that can take her to places to explore and take in the sights and smells of the world. INKY will need some training ... German Shepherd    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

ARIELA was saved from Companion Animal Alliance, Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She was scheduled to be killed and we managed to arrange flights with Pilots n Paws to fly her to safety at the rescue in Devine, on 13th February 2015. ARIELA did have a skin condition where she had tested negative for sarcoptic mange, but the vet wanted to treat her as a precaution and has since cleared up! At the rescue ARIELA has been great, she is a very sweet, affectionate girl who is always smiling. She comes up to be fussed on, but is not demanding and imposing. She gets on great with the other dogs and has been happy to play with them all. She is still very ... (Read More)'puppy' and loves to play hide and seek with shoes! ARIELA is hoping to find an active family that will take her to lots of interesting places and let her take in the sights and smells the world has to offer. She would benefit from at least basic obedience, but hopefully advanced training also. This not only helps to lay down the boundaries and expectations, but also helps to build a bond and more of an understanding of personalities and body language. ARIELA is spayed, rabies, core vaccines, de-wormed and micro-chipped. She did test positive for heart-worm disease but we are hoping to get her treated by the end of February 2015. German Shepherd Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Personality: High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

SKYLAR was saved from San Antonio Animal Care Services on 13th February 2015, the day he was due to be killed. SKYLAR had severe demodex mange and red in-flammed skin that is being treated and healing well. SKYLAR at the time of rescuing him was not leash trained and was very fearful of the leash, we think maybe he had been tied up outside and neglected. SKYLAR came over fearful and shy on initial meeting, but as soon as he met the dogs his confidence was re-gained, his tail was up and he started running around happily to be with his own kind. Over the first few days SKYLAR was trying to show dominance on the younger dogs, but was in no ... (Read More)way aggressive, it was more of him trying to find his place, also he had only been neutered the day before. SKYLAR does have high energy and likes to be running around playing rather than sitting relaxing, he will definitely need an active family. SKYLAR will need at minimum basic and hopefully advanced training, This not only sets the guidelines and expectations out for him, but helps a bond be formed and a clearer understand for both him and family of body language and personalities. SKYLAR is neutered, rabies, core vaccines, de-wormed and micro-chipped. He had tested positive for heart-worm disease which the rescue will be getting treated around the end of February. SKYLAR at time of rescue weighed around 40 pounds and has been given an estimated date of birth of 8 February 2013 (I do however, think he might be slightly younger as he acts very young - but I am not a vet!) SKYLAR is available for adoption through Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue for an adoption fee of $170 We will be happy to process and approve adopters before his heartworm treatment so as soon as he is fully healthy he can go on to start his new life.
