Australian Cattle Dog    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Hank is a great dog. He loves to play with our other two dogs and tries to play with the cats, (they are cats and don't want to play). He loves to set beside you and be scratched. He is young and can be a snappy, especially if you surprise him. He has bitten someone before, but he was asleep when the person approached him and tried to pick him up. He will go outside to do his business and does not have any eating issues. We just keep food out for the three dogs and refill it when it's empty. He's not an over eater. He needs an area outside where he can run and play. I won't let him go to an apartment or house without a fenced in ... (Read More)backyard. A farm would be ideal, he'd love that. He sleeps with us most nights and lights to cuddle up next to you. He's roughly 40 lbs and is current on all his shots. I use Oregon City Veterinary Clinic for his care. Siberian Husky    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Neutered, Needs Vaccinations

Cato is a sweet Husky we adopted about 4 years ago. He was rescued from a kill shelter in California. He loves us but we were not prepared to take on the temperament of a husky. We feel he needs to be somewhere he can safely run and explore. He escapes often from our fenced backyard after we have countlessly tried to husky proof it. He is slow to warm up to you but when he does he loves to be loved. He is amazing with our 2 year old daughter and Tibetan spaniel. Sometimes at the dog park he runs after small dogs as is he is going to attack them so I have stopped taking him. For the most part he is an amazing dog that needs a loving home and ...     ABOUT SEBASTIAN My name is Sebastian and I am about 7 years old. I would do best in a home experienced with my breed. I'm friendly and outgoing, just a little shy of being fussed with by people I don't know. However, if you are polite and respectful of me, my heart will be yours in no time. Because of this, I will do best in a home with older children. During my stay at the shelter, I have been in several play groups, and I enjoy playing with other mellow dogs. In my previous home I have done well living with cats and other dogs. Because I enjoy exploring the neighborhood on my own, I will do best in a home with a fully fenced yard. I take ... Australian Cattle Dog    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Ziggy is an approximately 1 year old Australian cattle dog/blue heeler. He was found as a very sick stray in the Central Valley of California and has now made a full recovery. He appears to be pure bred, though likely bred by a back yard breeder as his tail is docked which is not typical of the breed. He is GREAT with kids, babies, and all humans (he's a lover). He can be a little mouthy at times, but is very gentle and doesn't have a mean bone in his body. He is also great with all dogs and will play (endlessly) when given the chance. He is very interested in cats and gets super excited when he sees one and wants to say hi (but of course ... (Read More)the cat doesn't know that . . .). He has been crate-trained, but has had a few accidents in the house (pee only). He has a TON of energy and would thrive with access to a lot of outdoor space. Please, if you email an inquiry, please understand that these animals are in the shelter for a variety of reasons: Their lives are upside down maybe because owner died, they got lost, were abandoned, owner lost home or had a life event that left their pet in need of a new home. We don't always know how they will get along with all dogs, all children. Some won't be a perfect family member right away!     [Read About Natural Seizure Care] Arti/Artimous is a 5 yr old buff cocker spaniel. He is neutered and is current on vaccines. We would like him to go to a mellow home with no children. Arti would be a good pet for a person/couple where he could keep them company. He is a huge cuddler. He needs a home where not too many people come knocking on their door. Arti is a barker, when it comes to company coming to the house. He has a bit of high anxiety. Arti has had two seizures because of the high anxiety. One due to fireworks, the other due to a bark collar. He really needs to go to a home that would be able to suit his needs, as well, as well as your needs. Arti is ...     Older male, still quite active. I rescued him when he was around 2. I have had him 10 years now. He is a little deaf with some voice pitches. He likes to walk still. He does go after other dogs when he is on a leash. He loves women especially. Would be good for a mellow household. He has recently started peeing in the house and I cannot have that. Not sure what to do except offer him up to someone who can deal with that issue.

Tank is a sweet dog and obedient. He will come from far away when clapping your hands. He will go after unfamiliar small animals and other dogs that are on the other side of the fence. When properly introduced to other dogs he will be good. He is mostly protective of the property so does not allow any other dogs in. Ideally his home would be fre of other small animals. Though I have cats, and other dogs, he is used to them. He went after a newborn kid goat and killed it, yet he leaves me full grown goats alone. I need to find him a new home. Loyal and loving companion bit not suitable for farm life. He is 97 lbs.

Hi I'm Neko from California-I like it here in Oregon MUCH better! Friends of Danali found me in the back room of SEAACA, where I couldn't even be seen by the people who were there to adopt us.     Rex has the typical instinct to herd, chase and bite moving things He would do best in a home where he is the 'alpha' dog. Actually, would like to be a lap dog but is much too big for that. He has always lived with other large & small dogs and cats but could not be trusted with a cat. An adult only home or one with older kids(ages 10 & up) would be the best fit for Rex. He has recently become aggressive toward our 14yr. old dog, in an attempt to become the alpha, I guessing but it required a vet visit for our senior dog. He has also nipped at our 7 yr old. Rex just needs more then we are able to give him. - He needs a 'job'. Adoption fee ... (Read More)covers last vet check-up, he is current on all shots and has a microchip. (Less)

We adopted Belle August 18 from a shelter, and she will be a year October 13. She is a fun loving and hilarious girl who loves to play with toys, race around the yard, play tug of war with her dog friends and humans, and go for walks. She also loves to snuggle, especially at night. Belle is very trainable and a quick study; she is food motivated which helps. Sit, down, stand, come are all easy for her. Getting better with 'leave it'. Walking with her and getting her to heel is going well also. And, at this time she does have problems meeting other dogs / animals when on walks, and has been dog reactive. She weighs under 10lbs and is easy to ... (Read More)control with a training harness, and we are continually working on this behavior. However, her dog reactivity is causing problems for our other dog, Mia, who is a pit/lab mix, and who is now becoming more dog reactive / aggressive on walks/runs. Because of her mix and size, people are more fearful of Mia, especially when she gets protective of Belle. This means we are unable to walk them together. We hate to re-home Belle because she's such a great dog, but feel it is best for our family and our other dog who has been with us for six years. (Less)

Border Collie Mix    Age: Puppy

craigslist - Map data OpenStreetMap 2724 SE Cora St (google map) It is with very mixed emotions that we are looking to find a better home for our recently rescued 1 year old lab/border collie mix, Tsillah (sigh law). We rescued her from the Oregon Humane Society and they warned that she has socialization issues with other dogs but we have realized we're not in a place to accommodate her needs. She is a total lover, extremely smart and very playful, but also very high energy and then has trauma from her past life (we don't know the circumstances other than she was shipped up from Fresno, CA). The trauma causes her to flip out in a mix ... (Read More)of play and defense with ANY dog within her sight. She looks a bit like a tasmanian devil when we go on walks because of her behavior and when she confronts a dog, she doesn't understand the pecking order or have manners and will often instigate a fight. We do believe she has the potential to be trained and would also be an amazing dog out on a farm - she instinctively 'herds' us and has learned several tricks very quickly. She would also be a great agility or frisbee competitor as she can LEAP! It's heartbreaking to let her go but we've invested thousands at this point and don't feel we're the right fit for her. She has had all her vaccinations, microchip and she comes with a collapsable crate, leash, harness, and toys. We are asking for a re-homing donation of $200 and will require a transparent review of her new living situations in order for us to accept your adoption. We hope the perfect new home is out there for this sweet pup!! (Less)

Hi! I'm Ladybug, a 2 year old female who weighs 50lbs. I am a Great American Shelter Dog, which means I could be a little bit of this and a little bit of that. I'm super sweet, very playful, and love people. I'm exuberant and have a peppy zest for life! Not too many shy bones in my body--I'm more of a social butterfly! I can be selective with my dog friends--I meet well behaved dogs politely but usually have more interest in my people friends and environment than dog friends. I had a litter of puppies in my past, but have since been spayed and am ready to be an empty nester! Available at the Josephine County Animal Shelter, 1420 Brookside ... Pit Bull    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Cats, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Intact (Needs to be Fixed), Vaccinations Current

I have 2 pit bulls (DOB 10/28/16), their mother and father both red/blue nose pits. Mother had a difficult delivery and as a result of a 15 puppy litter, only 5 survived and mom died when they were 5 days old. They were bottle fed on fresh goats milk, they got 4 rounds of puppy shots and will need a 1 yr booster and their rabies Nov 1, 2017. Titus, first born male, has a clef nose but a big heart. He is the more dominant of them all. He needs to be neutered, something I am working on right now (any fees will cover the costs of fixing) but it's strongly recommend due to his increased testosterone which leads to dominant behavior. Penny (pink ... (Read More)collar) is a total bubbly head, who loves to find things and trot around showing off her treasures (balls/toys/sticks/trash if left in the yard). She is very laid back and they both just simply want love and a person to bond with. Due to their mother's genetic trait of large litters (something that goes generations back), it is highly recommended she be spayed also. Both dogs live in a house currently with teenagers but I have a 4 yr old niece who visits often, cats, small dog (Chi-Weenie) and other dogs. We had homes for them but unfortunately they did not work out and as much as our home loves them we cannot maintain the proper care needed for all of them. We want to find the perfect fit and believe their person is out there. Please contact us and I can answer any questions and send additional photos. Regarding the clef nose, there is no health issues associated, it simply looks like a piggy nose (photo available upon request)... Consider him a face you will melt over! I have so many wonderful things to say about my sweet babies, but anyone who loves the breed knows what a love they can be with a splash of sass and handful personality! (Less)

Sassyis a Hanging Tree McNab pup. This cutie will need a special type of family to keep up with herr energy and intelligence. Here is a description of this unique breed so please read to familiarize yourself on what they will need 'A composite breeding of several dogs gives the Hangin' Tree cowdog the genetic makeup to be a superior dog for cattle work. From the Catahoula Leopard Dog, top hunting instincts, tenacity, and a natural trailing ability are gained. From the Border Collie, intelligence, trainability, and gathering and herding skills are gained. From the Australian Kelpie, agility, hardiness, and endurance are gained. The careful ... (Read More)breeding of those three dogs has produced the Hangin' Tree Cowdog, a medium-sized dog bred specifically for working cattle. McNabs often bond tightly to their family members, including other household pets. They have a keen sense of territory and seldom wander away from home. McNabs can be assertive and demanding, and they do best with guardians who are firm, consistent and skilled in positive dog training methods that don't trigger the McNabs instinct to push back against obstacles. Highly intelligent and quick to learn, the McNab needs mental stimulation as much as physical exercise. Families considering a McNab for a pet will need to set aside plenty of time to spend with their dog. Their outstanding athletic prowess and agility coupled with high intelligence make them ideal competitors. McNabs are now competing successfully in agility trials, dock diving, disc dog competitions, and flyball. Currently McNabs are working as evidence search dogs, cadaver dogs, archaeology dogs, and area search dogs for missing persons. Where many other breeds have to be pulled off the search because the dog is tiring, the only limitation for the McNab is the energy of its handler.' (Less)

Polka Dance; the dog with a million expressions How would we describe Polka Dance? Well, we knew her since she was a baby. She was the big sister to all her siblings. Polka Dance was the happy pup that got along with all her siblings since day one. While her other siblings have had their arguments, Polka would not get involved. She was the first female pup that was adopted quickly. Everyone loved Polka Dance Unfortunately, she was adopted out to the wrong family. The older couple who adopted her were nice; but we did not expect their son had an aggressive miniature pincher. The son of her adopters incidentally left his ... (Read More)aggressive min pin out while he supposedly keep his dog inside. While the attack did not cause any serious physical injuries, it actually had caused Polka to have some post-trauma reactions toward other dogs. The sweet Polka Dance did not expect any dogs suddenly running, charging, and biting her, while she was just quietly sniffing around her new yard, & trying to get familiar with her new place. Polka was never exposed to any mean dogs her entire life, until that day. We retrieved Polka back a day after the incident, it was a short stay at her adopter's home. For some dogs the mental scar was not easy to heal. Since that incident, Polka became scared of all other dogs and she reacted by barking excessively, telling all new dogs she met with to stay away from her. Will Polka Dance attack another dog? We certainly don't think so. She doesn't have any mean bones in her. We took her to play with her siblings (that have been separated from her for months) right after the incident, and she still got along with everyone of them, as well as all our dogs she was familiar with. She is still the sweet Polka Dance we have always remembered. To all new people who have never met her before, please be advised that Polka Dance will bark toward any strangers. Why? First of all, her trait is well known as a very loyal companion; she barks to tell the strangers to stay away from her people. Secondly, after she was back with us, we placed her to a temporary foster far away from the city. The foster family who had her for 2 months did not bring her to places or meet new people like what they were suppose to. So, her lack of world exploring experience during those months has made her somewhat undesirable at the first impression (sadly). Polka Dance definitely needs someone who is willing to help her undo whatever undesirable experiences she previously had during her short stay with the people who had her. Polka is currently at a boarding facility. We couldn't find her a replacement foster in time, and we couldn't wait around for another disaster that may happen if we let her stay at her previous home much longer. If introduced properly Polka gets along with almost all RESPECTFUL dogs, shares toys, & kennel, bed with her foster doggie housemates & her siblings, with no problems. However, please put away all your expectations when you meet Polka the first time, give her the space and time to come to you. Her next adopter will have to be willing to work & gain her trust. Once she is connected with you, her true SUPER DUPER AFFECTIONATE personality will show and you will just want to shower her with love. She lived with a cat and a small dog at her first foster home (from age 10 to 16 weeks), she was fine with them. She was 100% potty trained before we checked her in at the boarding. Once she is back living in a house again, she will definitely resume all her potty training behavior. She has been fed with Petcurean's NOW FRESH Fish Recipe; combined with raw organic eggs for breakfast. She is a 9 months old pup; looks like a miniature dogo argentino. Her mother is a purebred Staffordshire and her father is an Argentine Mastiff mix. She is available thru our Foster to Adopt program, she will go home with a 42' double door dog crate, a bag of grain free Petcurean NOW Fresh brand dog food, her Canine Equipment brand walking gear, and all her favorite toys. To schedule a meet and greet with Polka Dance, please fill out the application form: https://goo.gl/forms/xh4lxvWEK8JLiOlx2 We do not adopt our dogs out on a first come first serve basis but rather on the philosophy of finding the most fitting home for each dog.     Though my name is Red, I prefer to be called 'Bubba Red'... it seems more endearing to me. Now don't get me wrong, I am not a big softie... I will bark to let you know someone is at the house, But that is actually all I do. Once you and I get bonded I am your guardian for life, I will stick by you and sometimes have a hard time being without you. There are things that scare me though out in the world - big trucks, skateboards, bikes, basically anything that moves fast. I wish I could explain to my foster angel why but she is really helping me learn not to be fearful of fast moving things. I love people, (did I mention I will be your ... (Read More)guardian for life?). I've met big people and some medium sized people... I prefer the bigger people, only because the smaller the get the faster they seem to dart around!! I love getting petted but sometimes flinch with a sudden touch; like I said, I wish I could explain what happened to me when I was younger that makes me flinch but my foster angel seems to understand and so I flinch less as I know they are gentle touches I am getting. I have never been aggressive, I love my people too much, and unless there is a dog that is trying to scare me or I feel might threaten you or I, I love them too. I am basically a big softie (THERE! I said it) with a heart of gold encased in a beautiful red body looking to find my forever people.... Is it you??? (Less)

Think you know what an older dog like me can and can't do? Well think again! Though I have been judged as being approx. 8-9 years old, that hasn't stopped me. My foster angel can tell you that I am still very athletic. I LOVE a good hike, I can soar over a cattle guard, and I can also scale a 5ft gate. I am pretty sure I can keep up with you. But the benefit of me being a proper grown up dog is that I know my manners and I am really good with commands - plus you CAN teach an old dog new tricks (see the jumping over 5ft gates). When he doesn't get enough exercise, or if it is left alone for long periods of time, it can become depressed, bored, frustrated and/or destructive. This is a curious dog - not hyperactive like some breeds, but definitely NOT a couch potato; he is also quite inquisitive about his environment. Age: almost 9 months Gender: Male Weight: 55-56 LB (current), fully grown will be around 70-75 LB. He is a Staffordshire & Argentine Mastiff mix pup. Animal ID: CA4Blue (male)

Pit Bull Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Blue was found abandoned on property in CA and fed by neighbors for several months before our rescue was contacted to help. Animal Control did nothing. So we stepped up. Blue is believed to be 8 years old but still very playful and active. He loves to go on walks and seems non reactive to other dogs. He would require time to decompress after the stress of being boarded for two months. He has been cat tested and is not responsive, however, would have to be tested with individual cat in home. Due to this breeds small prey drive would be preferable to be a no cat home. Blue is ready to be a couch potato and go on daily walks. He is strong ...     Poor Buddy cant catch a break. From being abandoned on property in CA to having to be put in boarding for two months and now finally in an amazing home but not liking the cat :(. He was cat tested, however, we feel he is jealous of the cat and lunges at him. The adopter is heartbroken, however, we must keep both animals safe. Buddy is 10 years old, weighs 44 pounds and has a deformed club foot. He walks on it just fine. He deserves a safe space to place his head at night and feel safe. He loves to go on walks and snuggle on the couch. He has met big and small dogs and no reaction. Would like to place him with no dogs or cats, however, one ... German Shepherd    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Male Dogs Only, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Rogue, is an athletic, active dog. She is about 3 years old and was surrendered to the shelter because she did not get along with the other dogs in the home. Therefore, she will do best with an owner experienced with German Shepherds, along with no small dogs, nor female dogs. However, she has done well with some very social male dogs. She is sweet, affectionate, and loves people. Her foster mom says she has been the perfect house guest. She is house trained and crate trained. She loves to go for car rides. She enjoys camping, hiking and loves to be in the water. She has lived with children of all ages and has had very positive ... (Read More)experiences with them. She will need a home without cats. She would not do well in dog parks and could use some more leash training to learn how not to react to other dogs when going on walks.     The following are some of the comments my foster angel Mum has sent about me: ''Valero is a complete and total sweetheart.%A0 While most of the time he has a calm and gentle demeanour, he can also be a bit of a spitfire when it comes time to play.%A0 He really just wants to spend time with his human and dog pack.%A0 That is definitely his life's highest goal' ''He is ok with some cats, others are for chasing.%A0 He loves all dogs, but some may have a problem with him.%A0 While he definitely understands socialization with humans, he can really miss the ball when it comes to other dogs.%A0 Other dogs can be sure to let him know ... (Read More)he is the biggest dork they have ever met!' ''His bestfriend Benny is probably the first dog friend he has ever had in his life, and he is super duper attached.%A0 I suspect that he spent quite a bit of time alone' ''With the use of his favourite treats he has learned: not to jump up on people, to sit for treats, affection and food, and in general, how to understand and respect personal boundaries' 'He has an incredibly calming and soothing presence, he just really wants to be around his person/people.' ''He is always up for a leashed adventure and he enjoys retrieving balls, rope and just about any toy - but only for a few minutes at a time' 'When he sits for attention and you put your arms around him he just turns into warm butter' ''He is very potty trained now (thank you fancy meat treats for providing incentive) but he should be crated when no one is home.%A0 He does very well when he goes out in public and enjoys making new friends everywhere he goes' ''Valero still needs some training but that is ok because you can teach him what you want him to know and he is a speedy learner' ''He is a really sensitive guy and he responds very well to positive reinforcement.%A0 He is also incredibly endearing.%A0 It is impossible not to love him if you have spent any time with him.%A0 Valero is an excellent little dog' '- Valero's foster Mom 'Doesn't this guy sound amazing?%A0 We don't usually just quote the foster directly, but when the foster gives us so much information and clearly loves the dog - it just seems right.%A0 They know the dog better than anyone. She was transferred to our rescue from a local shelter and has made an amazing recovery. We assume she grew up on the streets and thus has resource guarding issues. She would probably be okay with an older calm dog, but not a younger active one.     Adeline 'Addie' is a beautiful 5 year old dog. For the most part she has a sweet and loving temperament and loves to be around people. Addie does better with adult women than she does men. She seems to be protective. She has always done well around children, however I do not have children in my home. I do have two cats that she does tolerate, but in general she doesn't do well around cats. Addie also does not do well around other dogs. She is good about letting you know when she ... (Read More)needs to go out. Addie has a traumatic background. The first year of her life she spent with someone who was training her to be a fight dog and underwent some abuse there. After that she went into a rescue home and was there up until about a year ago when my son then got her. Several months ago she was in an accident where she lost her front left leg. She has adapted very well. Right now I am having to make a very tough decision and do what is best for Addie.     Selena's the name, and belly rubs are my game! I am looking for a person/people to adopt and become my BFF/s. Things I enjoy are: Belly rubs, playing outside, being with people, rolling over, napping and just being loved. Do these sound like things you enjoy too? Things I am not so keen on: Small people, you know the ones that can make high pitched squeals or whiney sounds and that move fast. I also am not a fan of cats (see same reasons as little people). I do like other dogs, though I am picky about what crowd I run with, so hopefully we agree on what kind of dogs we like! My current people have shown me that life is good and I am ... I'm still learning though because despite my size of 50lbs, I'm actually only a year old and still a puppy. I haven't met a dog I haven't liked so if you have been adopted by another puppy, that's okay cos' I will love them and we will share you. I didn't get here without a few ... I like being reminded to go outside and then when I sleep in my crate at night I know I have to hold it till morning. There is so much to learn in this big wide world, I really need to find me a forever person to help them enjoy all the great things this life has to offer. Other dogs have told me about getting their very own people and I think I would really like that a lot, in fact I am super excited by it. Are you just as excited? Chihuahua Mix    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good w/ Male Dogs Only, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Low Energy, Very Submissive

Scooter is an older but very loving/cuddly Chihuahua who loves to be held. She gets along with children who are not overly hyper and in her face. Her ideal home would be with an individual/couple who are calm, relaxed, and patient. She will need some potty training if you want her to go potty outdoors. She has never been one to tell the owner when she needs to go outside. Therefore she has used dog potty pads most of the time. I did not list health problems only because I was not able to select the one issue that she would have, which is her front left leg. A couple years ago she jumped off the bed and injured (sprained) her left leg. ... (Read More)Therefore she limps from time to time after being on it for too long. Her owner recently became homeless. Her owner has had her for her entire life but now is unable to take care of her any further and cannot have her where the owner is currently staying. The owner does not want to see Scooter go to a shelter that has a bunch of other dogs and animals because that would scare Scooter tremendously. The owner wants to see Scooter go to a loving home as described above. (Less)

Jay is really an amazing and loyal dog. I love him so much but very sadly I cannot keep him. He came from a bad home before he came to mine 3 years ago. He loves to cuddle but gets very scared if he is picked up. This is why I don't think he would do well with children. He will snap at people and yelp if his paws are touched or picked up when he is not wanting to be. He has attacked my smaller dog when left unsupervised. He loves to be around cats though. Staffordshire Bull Terrier    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Sammie is a muscle-bound, energetic 5 year old Staffordshire terrier, who is currently in foster care and doing well. She has a lot of energy, is very athletic, and LOVES her chew toys. She will play fetch for hours on end. In fact, you will often see her cram as many toys in her mouth as she can...quite a comical little girl. She connects well with her people and loves to hang out in the house with them. She is house broken, kennel trained, not destructive in the home, and does fairly well walking on leash. She is obedient, will sit for her food and jumps right in the tub for a bath. It's as if getting a bath was a normal routine in her ... (Read More)former life or she just LOVES to play in water! Therefore, a kiddie pool is this girl's dream. She gets along with most dogs, but doesn't do well with some females. So, an introduction with other dogs in the home is a must to make sure it is a good fit. She does a bit of resource guarding, which may need to be managed. Sammie will bark at strangers and cats, but otherwise is fairly quiet in her foster home situation. She would not do well in a home with cats, but seems to get along most children. Of note, is that when Sammie is fixated on her toys, it can be difficult to get her attention away from the toys. In fact, she prefers to chew on rocks, which can be hazardous and will need to be monitored. So, while there are a few minor issues with this girl, she is a pleasure to have in her foster home and would make a good companion dog for most anyone. For more information or to set up a time to meet Sammie, please call her foster mom, Michelle, at 510-589-7341 or the Jackson County Animal Shelter at 541-774-6654. (Less)

Australian Cattle Dog Mix    Age: Young Adult

Oh our lovely Daisy Mae. We don't want to know what this girl has gone through in her life to be so afraid of men and kids but it must have been miserable for her.     MAY! May is a super sweet, super cute girl. She seems to prefer men in the human form, but she's friendly with all people. She's good with other dogs with proper intro, but she sends to be a little shy and would do just fine as an only dog. She doesn't need a buddy to be happy. We really think May is special and want to see her find a home! Here is her back story. May was set to die at Ramona Humane-Society when one of our great friends and supporters contacted us with a potential foster to save her. We are so glad we could help. Look at that face! German Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Diesel is a 2-year old German Shepard/ Rottweiler mix. He was in training as a PTSD and mobility-support service dog, but has failed out of the program and is looking for his forever pet home. Part of the reason he failed is that he was secretly being abused in his home by another house member, (it was caught on camera and that person arrested). He has not fully recovered from this and it sometimes shows up as mild separation anxiety (he's a chewer and sometimes eats things he shouldn't like his blanket) and ducking when you raise your hand or make sudden moves. Diesel was also attacked by a small dog and continues to be not fond of them; ... (Read More)however, if introduced slowly, he does just fine. Same with cats. He is sensitive, goofy, medium to high energy, snugly, and will make you laugh for hours with his antics. He has nice manners if you remind him to use them, and walks well on a leash in a halty or on a choke chain. He does have some leash reactivity with dogs he does not know, and needs to be introduced to other dogs slowly. We've been working on changing that, and he is doing somewhat better, but will need continued training. Due to his energy level and size, he would probably do best in a home without small children. He loves them but doesn't always remember where they are and can knock them down by accident. He's currently in Olympia, WA but would love to meet you. (Less)

He weighs in at 62 pounds (end of August) and is tall and lanky. Danny is fixed, chipped and up to date on his vaccines. He was found with his litter-mates and mother dumped in a field.     Lena was found with her litter-mates and mother dumped in a field. The family went to the shelter and we rescued them from there. Lena's mom is a gorgeous black shepherd with a lot of energy. We are guessing dad was a lab or possibly a bully mix. Per her foster: Lena is a very lovable puppy with a great temperament. She loves the water and loves to play. She is great with all dogs that I've introduced her to so far (including our own) and is good with our cat too. Since being at our house, she has gotten much better about her crate. She sleeps in it all night, with no problems and is getting better and better when in the crate during the ... (Read More)day for short times. She is learning manners quickly and is GREAT on a leash. She is so sweet and just wants some love and attention but also needs boundaries because she is in the 'puppy' stage. She now sits before being fed her breakfast/dinner and waits until we say OK to eat. She is a fast learner and sweet as can be. Only negative - she is def in the puppy stage of chewing, getting into stuff etc... She needs an adopter that will give her exercise and attention and things to work her mind. She likes learning and is food motivated. She could be a great ESA or service dog since she is great with dogs and cats and kids and super smart.
