Rescue Me ID: 15-03-04-00613BRANDY (female)

Norwich Terrier Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

BRANDY was saved from Montgomery County Animal Services on 28th February 2015. We believe her to be a Norwich Terrier mix, but are not certain of that. BRANDY was diagnosed as being heart-worm positive and we have her scheduled for treatment the week of 12th March 2015. BRANDY is a typical lap-terrier that likes to be wherever you go and will climb any barricade or obstacle to get to be where you are. She is confident being amongst puppies and large dogs and is more than happy to let the big dogs know to get out of her space. BRANDY is a loving affectionate girl that will climb into your lap and snuggle down at any and every opportunity. ... (Read More)She is agile and she is smart and will pick up on any kind of training very quickly. BRANDY is looking for a home that has the time to give her to train her and work with her on obedience, this not only helps bonding but will set boundaries and guidelines and allow BRANDY and her new family to learn each others personalities and body language. BRANDY being a small dogs is not in need of a large yard, but she still does need that mental and physical exercise and stimulation appropriate to her size. She is a young girl and has lots of years ahead of her so an active life-style now would suit her best. BRANDY is spayed, rabies, core vaccines, de-wormed, as mentioned she will be getting treated for heart-worm disease and is micro-chipped. She has an estimated date of birth of 26 August 2013 and at the time of rescue weighed 12 pounds, which seems a good weight for her. BRANDY is available for adoption through Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue for an adoption fee of $300. Transport - West Coast Although LOCATED in TEXAS we are using Paws Without Borders, a highly reputable animal rescue transport company to re-locate our dogs from rescue to meet their families along the West Coast, raveling up I5 as far as Everett, WA (This allows us to save more dogs from the high rate kill shelters here in Texas). This is a private company and their transport fee (which is paid directly to them) are $150, $200, $250 depending on the crate size. Most of our dogs will be the $200 or $250 crate size. This fee is in addition to what you would pay the rescue for the adoption fee. If you are interested in adopting this precious soul, out application process and form can be found and submitted on our website under the APPLICATION tab. Rescue Me ID: 15-03-04-00580EARL (male)

Scottish Terrier Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

EARL was saved from Montgomery County Animal Services on 28th February 2015 along with her siblings. EARL is definitely big brother amongst his siblings and can be a bit of a bully at times, as in protecting food and toys, whilst he has them. This I am confident will change when the pups are living amongst the rest of the dogs and they have other things to focus on and don't have to rely on each other for entertainment and pack order. EARL is confident, but he does like to be loved upon and to give you lots of loving back, he will climb into my lap if I give him the chance and relaxes as he gets his ear scratched and belly rubbed. We ... (Read More)don't have cats in the rescue so we cannot say how he will act, however, since he is young, with correct guidance and training and letting him satisfy any curiosity I am confident he can live in harmony with any feline friends. EARL will benefit from a family that has the time to spend training him to basic and advanced levels. This not only helps form a strong bond, but also enables boundaries and expectations to be set and both family and his body language be learnt. EARL is spayed, rabies, core vaccines, de-wormed and micro-chipped. He is too young to be heart-worm tested, but has been on prevention since he arrived at rescue. EARL has an estimated date of birth of 21 October 2014 and at the time of rescue she weighed 18.0 pounds. EARL is available for adoption through Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue for an adoption fee of $300. Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

SMOKEY was saved from Montgomery County Animal Services on 28th February 2015 along with her siblings. SMOKEY is at first very shy, but soon warms up when she knows she can trust you and get lots of love. She gets along great with the other pups, both her age and younger and is coming out of her shell each day. SMOKEY is very gentle and is one of the smaller siblings and sometimes gets bullied a little. This, however, I am certain will subside when the pups are with the rest of the dogs and they have other things to focus their attention on. Cocker Spaniel    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Hi my name is Gabby and I am a very loyal and happy girl. I am 7 years old. My main master died 3 years ago but I still had my mistress. However, she now has health issues and can no longer live at home or take care of me so I need a new forever home - someone who will love me for who I am. I do have a few health issues - as a cocker I do have ear trouble but they are under control right now. I also have a dry eye that needs some medicine put in it once a night and when I get excited I might piddle a little, especially when I am greeting new people. But my personality makes up for my health deficiencies - I will be your most faithful ... (Read More)companion. I don't know any tricks but I come when called and can walk on a leash adn love retrieving my toys. I have been blessed being able to live on a 50 acre farm but I can do well in just a fenced yard though I spend lots of my day curled up in the house snoozing. My mistress had 3 cats that were all friends of mine. I also like my mistress' friend's dogs. I haven't been around many kids so not sure how I would do with them - may be just fine with a little older child or children. My master and mistress were in their early 70's when they adopted me and now a nice girl in her 20's is taking care of me and she plays with me and takes me on walks I really, really need someone to take me home and love me, and I promise I will give you all the love and dog licks you could ever want.     CASHEW was saved from Montgomery County Animal Services on 28th February 2015 along with her siblings. CASHEW most definitely has alpha tendencies amongst her siblings and always wants and takes whatever they have, albeit it in a playful manner.     Georgia is a great dog,but needs more attention, training and romantic to roam. Very excited with company, loves to ride in the car and enjoys playing with my 5 year old. I'm currently pregnant and unable to give her what she needs. She's potty trained and knows how to sit. She would love a family that can run in the dog park with her and play fetch. She will keep the bugs and shadows away during the day as well.she will be missed but deserves more.

SCOTTIE was saved from Montgomery County Animal Services on 28th February 2015. SCOTTIE is a truly happy young boy, who oozes confidence as he struts along where ever he likes. Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

AMBROSIA was saved from Montgomery Animal Shelter on 28th February 2015. She was with 3 other puppies that are wire-haired terriers, so we are unsure of what breed she is. AMBROSIA was very fearful at first but once she got settled she became the sweetest love bug ever. She does air on the side of caution and will make sure that you really want her to come to you before she makes that step to come over. She is gaining confidence with time and although I am sure when she leaves the rescue she will be fully confident, I think she will again be cautious until she knows she can trust her new family. Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Josie is a sweet 2.5 year old purebred chocolate lab that we adopted in December 2014 to be a companion for our other dog. Do not know much about her history. She is very smart and learns fast but has not had much training. She gets along well with our other dog and she is friendly with us humans. We are working with her to not chase our horses, cats and chickens - she's making progress. I think she would make a good family dog. The downside: She is an escape artist. We have several acres and just aren't able to keep her inside if she wants to get out. For her safety and our peace of mind we have decided to rehome her.

Great Pyrenees    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Low Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Needs Vaccinations, Arthritis

Duke is a wonderful, affectionate and easy going dog. We want to re home him as our living situation has dramatically changed in the last six months. We used to live on acreage where he had plenty of room to do his perimeter checks. He had a pond he loved to wade in, squirrels to keep an eye on and he had his Irish Wolfhound companion for company. Now we live in a home with a tiny yard, I work out of state all week long and my husband is gone from the house 14 hours a day. We have re-homed the Wolfhound and want a better life for Duke than what we can now provide. He has some arthritis in his back end and is on an anti-inflammatory which ... We wrestle, and when they get tired of playing with me, I get out my squeaky toys and keep myself occupied. There are no cats in my foster home, so I'm not sure if I like kitties or not. I am working on my house training skills. My foster mom says I am doing really well but still need a reminder now and again. I sleep quietly in my crate at night, but as soon as I hear somebody is up, ... (Read More)I want out. My foster mom says I have nice manners and am a really good little girl. Thanks for stopping by and checking my sweet self out. Australian Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good with Other Dogs
Personality: High Energy, Very Dominant
Health: Vaccinations Current, Aggressive, Fearful/Anxious

Roscoe is an Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler and is a loyal, brave, hardworking, herding dog. One of the most intelligent breeds, he is not the kind of dog to sit around the living room all day or live happily in the backyard with only a 15-minute walk. He needs much more exercise than that and something to occupy his mind daily or he will become bored, leading to serious behavior problems. He needs lots of action in its life and will do best with a job. This alert dog is excellent in the obedience ring and will excel in agility and herding trials. Can be obedience trained to a very high level. Protective, he makes an excellent guard dog. ... (Read More)He is absolutely loyal and obedient to its master. Roscoe is aggressive towards people and dogs he doesn't know. His dominance level is high. If you can teach Roscoe that you are alpha and you will not tolerate him fighting with other dogs, he will be a great dog. He is good and trustworthy with our children but will nip at people's heels in an attempt to herd them. This breed is very easy to train. Problems have arisen because we are not able to provide him with the proper amount of exercise. This breed does best with a job to do. If you do not have time to extensively work with and exercise this dog, or do not fully understand canine instincts and their need to have leadership, this is not the breed for you. (Less)

Ladies and gentlemen, my name is Kima and thanks so much for checking out my profile today! I am a smart, gorgeous and happy 3 year old Lab and Pointer blend. I know how to mind my manners, walk well on a leash, love riding in cars and would be fine w dog friendly dogs and kids. I seem housebroken too as I wait to be taken for a walk to potty. German Shepherd    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

TACO was saved from San Antonio Animal Care Services on 18th December 2014, with severe demodex mange and skin infections, his feet were very swollen and bleeding. TACO came to rescue and started treatment and over time he started to do really well. Initially he would stay in his crate that was in the bedroom, but that was more as he didn't want the other dogs to stand on his very sore feet. Over time and healing TACO started to socialize more with the rest of the dogs and the more he healed the more he played. On 17th February he was neutered, he still has a good amount of hair to grow, but it is coming along great. TACO is a very sweet, ... (Read More)affectionate boy, when he has gained all his weight and fully recovered, he will truly be a magnificent sable boy. He loves playing with the other dogs, he is getting very active and would benefit from an active family who will be willing to take him on lots of adventures to different places. TACO will need basic and hopefully advanced training with his new family - this not only helps set down boundaries and expectations, but allows both dog and family learn each others personalities and body-language. TACO is going to be a big boy and will need plenty of exercise, both mental and physical. TACO is neutered, rabies, core vaccines, de-wormed, heart-worm tested negative and micro-chipped. He has a date of birth of around 16 December 2013 and at the time of his neuter surgery in February 2015 he weighed 59.0 pounds. TACO is available for adoption through Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue for an adoption fee of $350.     This is Falcore, he recently relocated with us from a house with a backyard to a one bedroom apt. Looking to rehome to a home with a yard and someone with above average dog experience. He is THE best dog that I have ever had, he lives with a cat and a baby. He is super sweet and cuddly. He knows basic commands, potty trained and doesn't chew. Rescue Me ID: 15-02-23-00056IVA (female)

German Shepherd    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

IVA was originally an owner surrender to Kerry County Animal Control in December 2011. She had given birth to 4 puppies, 2 had died, the other 2, I discovered when back at rescue had parvo, and IVA had tested postive for heart-worm disease. Not the best start, but we got her through - we fought with the puppies to stay alive and they did, which we then found them wonderful forever homes. We had IVA treated for the heart-worm disease and she also found a family to adopt her. Sadly a few weeks ago, I had a phone call from IVA's family saying they could no longer care for her, she kept digging or climbing the fence and they didn't have the ... (Read More)time to exercise her like she needed. So on 21st February 2015 IVA came back to rescue. We need to get her to the vets to have a heart-worm test, since her last one was 2013, she needs her very long nails clipped but other than that she is in good shape, but clearly with a LOT of pent up energy, which after a few days being with the pack, she will hopefully have found release for some of it at least. IVA is a great girl, she is very friendly and loving and even though she is around 4.5 years old, she still is a very high energy girl, who absolutely LOVES to play ball / fetch. IVA does jump up and pulls a lot on the leash, which leads me to believe that she has rarely been taken on walks and left to exercise in the yard, which will have ultimately led to her destructive behaviour of digging and wanting to escape by climbing the fence. IVA is a stunning bi-colour GSD, she is spayed, rabies, core vaccines, de-wormed, will be heart-worm tested, but has been on prevention and she is micro-chipped. She weighs arond 65 pounds and has a date of birth of around 3 July 2011. We are hoping to find IVA a loving, active family that has the time to give her physical and mental exercise and the love and caring home that she deserves. IVA is available for adoption through Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue for an adoption fee of $350 Although LOCATED in TEXAS we are using Paws Without Borders, a highly reputable animal rescue transport company to re-locate our dogs from rescue to meet their families along the West Coast, raveling up I5 as far as Everett, WA (This allows us to save more dogs from the high rate kill shelters here in Texas). Rescue Me ID: 15-02-23-00013CHULA (female)

German Shepherd    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

CHULA was saved from the streets by a family in San Antonio. They said they kept her for a month whilst they tried to find her owners, but no one responded so they asked GaDaH to take her in. Whilst talking to the lady she told me that CHULA had gotten into several fights with her pit-bull. CHULA (named by the family) came to rescue on 21st February 2015. In the car over here she was as sweet as can be, but did show a few signs of apprehension. At the rescue in the treatment area with fence panels separating her from the other dogs she was clearly not comfortable and did not want to go near the fence. I stayed with her to reassure her and ... (Read More)it was clear that she was bonding with me. I let two dogs into the treatment area and she became quite protective when the dogs came near me. I have spent time working with her and she has gotten much better and when she is with the dogs in the rescue area she is ok, however, if I sit down she will come and sit or stand by me and not like it if any other dogs come near me. She has not been aggressive, but I have been a strong alpha and let her know that this behaviour is unacceptable. I am sure when she has settled and realizes she is safe and fits in with the pack she will be fine, but this will most likely be her behaviour when she goes to her new family as once again she will have been uprooted and insecure, so she will need time, patience, understanding and a family willing to work with her if she gets like this. Other than her initial protectiveness, CHULA is an absolute sweetheart, she is very responsive, very willing to please and happy to be with her human. CHULA has clearly had an up-rooted life and needs to find a family that can offer her that stability and security that humans and animals alike need. CHULA will need an alpha personality family as she will need someone to look up to for when she is feeling insecure, plus if she is being protective she needs someone who she respects and so will listen when they tell her 'NO'. CHULA will benefit from a family that has time to take her places so that she can take in the sights and smells of the world, she is a young girl and so will need not only physical but mental exercise also. CHULA is spayed, rabies, core vaccines, de-wormed, heart-worm tested and micro-chipped.     ARIELA was saved from Companion Animal Alliance, Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She was scheduled to be killed and we managed to arrange flights with Pilots n Paws to fly her to safety at the rescue in Devine, on 13th February 2015. ARIELA did have a skin condition where she had tested negative for sarcoptic mange, but the vet wanted to treat her as a precaution and has since cleared up! At the rescue ARIELA has been great, she is a very sweet, affectionate girl who is always smiling. She comes up to be fussed on, but is not demanding and imposing. This not only helps to lay down the boundaries and expectations, but also helps to build a bond and more of an understanding of personalities and body language. ARIELA is spayed, rabies, core vaccines, de-wormed and micro-chipped. She did test positive for heart-worm disease but we are hoping to get her treated by the end of February 2015. ARIELA is available for adoption through Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue for an adoption fee of $350 Although LOCATED in TEXAS we are using Paws Without Borders, a highly reputable animal rescue transport company to re-locate our dogs from rescue to meet their families along the West Coast, raveling up I5 as far as Everett, WA (This allows us to save more dogs from the high rate kill shelters here in Texas). This is a private company and their transport fee (which is paid directly to them) are $150, $200, $250 depending on the crate size. Most of our dogs will be the $200 or $250 crate size. This fee is in addition to what you would pay the rescue for the adoption fee. Our application process and form can be found under the application tab. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-02-22-00160SKYLAR (male)

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Personality: High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

SKYLAR was saved from San Antonio Animal Care Services on 13th February 2015, the day he was due to be killed. SKYLAR had severe demodex mange and red in-flammed skin that is being treated and healing well. SKYLAR at the time of rescuing him was not leash trained and was very fearful of the leash, we think maybe he had been tied up outside and neglected. SKYLAR came over fearful and shy on initial meeting, but as soon as he met the dogs his confidence was re-gained, his tail was up and he started running around happily to be with his own kind. Over the first few days SKYLAR was trying to show dominance on the younger dogs, but was in no ... (Read More)way aggressive, it was more of him trying to find his place, also he had only been neutered the day before. SKYLAR does have high energy and likes to be running around playing rather than sitting relaxing, he will definitely need an active family. SKYLAR will need at minimum basic and hopefully advanced training, This not only sets the guidelines and expectations out for him, but helps a bond be formed and a clearer understand for both him and family of body language and personalities. SKYLAR is neutered, rabies, core vaccines, de-wormed and micro-chipped. He had tested positive for heart-worm disease which the rescue will be getting treated around the end of February. SKYLAR at time of rescue weighed around 40 pounds and has been given an estimated date of birth of 8 February 2013 (I do however, think he might be slightly younger as he acts very young - but I am not a vet!) SKYLAR is available for adoption through Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue for an adoption fee of $170 We will be happy to process and approve adopters before his heartworm treatment so as soon as he is fully healthy he can go on to start his new life. Although LOCATED in TEXAS we are using Paws Without Borders, a highly reputable animal rescue transport company to re-locate our dogs from rescue to meet their families along the West Coast, raveling up I5 as far as Everett, WA (This allows us to save more dogs from the high rate kill shelters here in Texas). Bull Terrier Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

HESTON was found with 3 other pups (approx 3 months old) just up the road from the rescue in Devine. We took them in, got them settled and over time fully vetted. HESTON is active and affectionate, although he can be wary of people until he has decided that they are OK. He is great with the other dogs, growing up amongst a lot of dog has given him fantastic dog socialization skills. We do not have cats in the rescue so we cannot say how he is with cats. He loves to have his ears and belly scratched. HESTON is looking for a family that is active and will take him to different places and let him explore the big wide world. As with all dogs ... (Read More)he will benefit from basic and advanced training with the family which not only sets guidelines and boundaries but lets both dog and human learn each others body language and mannerisms. HESTON has been neutered, rabies, core vaccines, de-wormed and micro-chipped, he has been on flea/tick and heart worm prevention, and tested NEGATIVE for heart-worm disease and the 3 tick-borne diseases in October 2014. HESTON has an estimated date of birth of 18th December 2013. HESTON is available for adoption through Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue for an adoption fee of $170. Although LOCATED in TEXAS we are using Rescue Road Trips LLC. and P.E.T.S.     Katie was my daughters dog. We moved from California and she couldn't keep her. She is a great well behaved dog. She is as sweet as could be. However, she has a mean streak sometimes and gets very dominant. She has attacked our other terrier mix dog many times. We also have a small dog and it's very hard to babysit all of the time. She would make a great fit with a family without any other pets. We don't know how she is around small children. I do have pictures but I'm having trouble uploading on the site. She is black with some spots of white on her neck and paws.

Lab    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Very High Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

We rescued Bentley from a young girl who was not taking proper care of him, We didn't plan on keeping him, we already have another black lab who was also a puppy at the time but we ended up falling in love with him so he stuck around. We were just going to keep him until we found a better home, but the right person never came along. We now need to find him a forever home.. Someone who has time, energy and love to give. He is very energetic and LOVES to swim, hike and play fetch. We have a one year old that he is very good with, and I've never seen him be aggressive. His only flaw for us is how much energy he has and how much time we DONT ... (Read More)have to commit to him. I would love to find someone that could run, hike and do daily activities with him. He is in love with hiking, we let him be leash-free and he never gets out of site and regularly comes up to us to 'Check in'. He is crate trained and will sleep inside his crate without making a peep. Bentley is super trainable and knows all the basic commands. Sit, stay, come, easy, lay down-go to bed and so forth. He is in our fenced back yard while we are not home and has NEVER tried to dig out, run away or even dig a hole so I would really perfer someone who has a yard for him for this reason. He really is an amazing dog, we just don't have the time he needs and as much as it pains me, I know he needs a lot More then we can give him. He isnt just an highly energetic boy, he also has a cuddly, loving side when he is inside and calming down. Please contact me with any questions and I'll be happy to answer. (Less)

Chihuahua Mix    Age: Puppy

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

'Enzo' was rescued in July 2014 and has been fostered since then. He is the sweetest little dog! He only weighs 3 pounds and loves to play with toys. Because of his 'micro' size, he is very vulnerable to injury so he would need to be in a household where he is the only dog and there are no children. He does get along well with cats and loves to play with them if they are the type that will play with him. He would be devoted to one person and would love to go everywhere with you.He was born with luxating patellas on both hind legs which occasionally cause some discomfort but most often do not bother him. Not letting him jump off the bed, ... (Read More)sofa, etc. helps immensely and he would benefit from having steps to access these places. He loves to be cuddled and carried. He is trained to use puppy pads but does ask to go out to do his business-- most of the time. Once he is settled in his forever home, his housebreaking will probably be 100%. He is current on his vaccinations, has been de-wormed, neutered and microchipped. (Less)

Lhasa Apso    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Not Good with Other Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Fearful/Anxious

Gizmo is loyal and requires lots of attention.. Loves to be pet and loved on. Prefers adults and being with you.About five years ago Gizmo was attacked by two Pitt bulls. This attack left him with somewhat anxious feelings over loud noises, some aggression appeared and he began to chase his tail. In Oct. of 2014 Gizmo bit his tail so bad that our vet decided that amputating part of his tail would help him to stop because he could not reach it. After surgery Gizmo had a cone on so he could not reach his tail while it healed. Finally after weeks we tried taking the cone off and he bit the end again. So the cone was put back on so the tail ... (Read More)could heal once again. Today five months later Gizmo lives with a cone on. He is tired of it and so are we. Recently my husband and I had to take temp. custoday of our two grand daughters. Gizmo does not like them much and is jealous. He was a xmas present as a puppy and I love him sooo much but I must find a new home for him. Someone who knows how to deal with this behavioral problem. The attack changed his whole being but I guess Id be different if I was attacked and almost lost my life. Please Help!!! Can anyone take my dog and give him a good home.. (Less)

Rat Terrier Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: High Energy, Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Fearful/Anxious

Mix of Rat Terrier with Whippet/Miniature Italian Greyhound or possibly a Mountain Feist Dog. Just under 10 lbs. 2 years old. Docked tail. Neutered. UTD on all vaccinations. Wonderful, cute little guy to excellent home. Initial home visit, follow up visit, and adoption application required. Inquire only if seriously interested and willing to prove you will provide a stable, loving home. We adopted him from OHS in December. He was a transfer from a high-kill shelter in Los Angeles. While he is a sweetheart of a dog, his chewing has become a problem for us. You offer: - Time to play with him. - Constructive training. - Financial resources ... (Read More)adequate for annual care and quality food. - Companionship throughout the day or most of the day (this little guy will not fare well with being crated all day). Ideally you are a stay-at-home parent, work from home, or are retired. - Commitment to a dog that will live for at least another 10-12 years. - Fenced yard. - Rehoming Fee of $250. The good: - Cuddler/lap dog, he loves to snuggle under the covers. - Well socialized with other dogs, would do great in a home with other dog(s). - Sweet with all people, a little timid at first, but seems to be OK with men, women and kids. Older kids would be better so he's around children who understand boundaries. - Clean bill of health from the vet. Includes all recent health records. - Short coat, low maintenance. He has a beautiful, shiny coat! - Active, playful, loves hikes. - Gentle mouth, even when agitated during play. - Includes bed and brand new crate, harness and leash. - No skin/food allergies, eats 1/2 cup 2X a day of a high quality, limited ingredient grain/potato free food. - Rarely barks, very quiet in the home. - No food aggression. - Very calm. OK with nails being trimmed, bathing, and constant attention from 8-year-old. The bad: - Occasional potty accidents. We think he was kept outdoors until we adopted him. They are getting to be less frequent. - Major chewer. You really have to be on watch at all times that he is chewing the things he's supposed to, not the corner of a pillow, shoe, etc. He loves his other chew toys as well, but can destroy the corner of a cushion/pillow or chew through his leash in no time flat. He also sucks the sheets/nibbles bedding before falling asleep so we've started having him sleep in his crate at night. - High prey drive. Not a good fit with cats or chickens. This could be a plus though as we think he'd make a great small game hunter with training! - No leash training. We're using a 6' leash (not extendable) and harness. He is improving with being on leash, and is pulling less and less. He does not seem to be leash aggressive. He whines when he isn't allowed to visit a passing dog. - Likes to be left alone when napping/sleeping and doesn't like being squeezed too tight. $250 was the adoption fee we paid at OHS before purchasing supplies and vet bills. We will continue trying to train him and won't adopt him out unless if it is the perfect fit. (Less)

We are two little sweethearts who came to Rescue when our human mommy died. We are 5.5 year old litter mates, weigh about 7 lbs each, and are little troopers. We are social, loving, and playful. We are also great at exploring - so we need a securely fenced yard of our own! We usually snuggle up together, but when night time falls, we like to snuggle up with our foster mommy. Sometimes a teddy bear works too. We love to sleep in, and to have the occasional breakfast in bed. We enjoy spending time with other doggies, but we do chase cats - or more precise, tiptoe around and around them, and then bark if they don't want to join the game. Other ... (Read More)times we ignore them, but probably best if we don't have one of our own. We are working on potty training - an eagle eye and occasional belly bands do it for now. We also have an amazing trick we'll show you: wee-wee hand-stands! It is oh so cute '| we could have YouTube stardom in our future. If you'd like two mischievous little brothers to worm their way into your heart, warm your lap, and love you forever, please fill out our application. We HAVE to be adopted together and be loved forever, our little hearts cannot handle another heartbreak. By the way, few toys and small balls, a teddy bear, and soft blankets and beds will also help win us over. Adoption Donationis $300 each, includes Microchips. (Less)

Australian Kelpie Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

TAWNY & CLOVER were saved with their siblings, however, these two are extremely bonded and so we are drastically reducing our adoption fee in hopes we can find them a wonderful home together. The girls are very playful and fun to watch, they love to run and chase each other around. They are cautious with people who they do not know, but when they feel comfortable, they soon are ready to shower you with their love and of course allow you to scratch their ears and rub their bellies. TAWNY & CLOVER are very agile and find it very easy to climb a chain link fence, when they put their minds to something, they generally do it. Due to this a ... (Read More)secured yard with supervision will be needed, which is standard for all dogs, but these two just need to be watched that little bit closer. The girls will both need some basic and if possible advanced obedience training. As mentioned they are very smart and so training and being challenged will be something that they will enjoy. TAWNY & CLOVER need a family that will initially give them time to settle in and learn to trust them, but then who has the time and interest to want to spend time with the girls, taking them places, teaching them things and enjoying their care free, fun loving attitude that they have. TAWNY & ClOVER are both spayed, rabies, core vaccines, de-wormed, heart-worm/tick disease tested NEGATIVE and micro-chipped. Their estimated date of birth is 15th April 2013 and they weigh between 40-50 pounds, ClOVER being a little smaller than TAWNY. They are available for adoption through Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue for an adoption fee of $150 for BOTH girls. This is a private company and their transport fee (which is paid directly to them) are $150, $200, $250 depending on the crate size. Most of our dogs will be the $200 or $250 crate size. This fee is in addition to what you would pay the rescue for the adoption fee.     SPICE was saved from San Antonio Animal Care Services in pretty bad shape. He was severely under-weight, had demodex mange and skin infections. Since being at the rescue, SPICE has gained a good appetite, his medications have been doing their work and his skin has been clearing up. He still has a little way to go for all his hair to start to grown back, but his general health is good.     BELLE was born on 14th December 2012. Her mother a Pure Bred German Shepherd Dog. Sadly the pups had distemper and 2 of the siblings were lost. All pups received the distemper serum and antibiotics and did well. BELLE however, went on to have neurological symptoms and was rushed to Westheimer Animal Hospital, Bellaire, TX for Spinal Tap Surgery. She can just look a bit goofy with her tongue hanging out the side of her mouth - but a very small price to pay for fighting and battling the very deadly DISTEMPER disease. BELLE, is very affectionate, sweet and loving young girl with a very gentle laid back temperament. Of course she loves to play and run around, but generally she is just happy to be close by and when she looks at you she looks directly into your soul. BELLE knows how to use the dog door, and does go outside. I have not kept them in a crate they have had free roam, and come and go as they please. BELLE would love to find a family of her own who won't mind her having no teeth and can love her with all their hearts, she is an absolute SURVIVOR. BELLE is spayed, rabies, up to date on her vaccines, de-wormed, she tested negative for heart-worm and the 3 tick diseases and she is micro-chipped. BELLE weighs around 70 pounds. Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Wesley is looking for a forever home. He is 7 years old, loves to cuddle, catch sticks, run and spend as much time as possible with you. Since we had to relocate for jobs and a baby from a farm with tons of room to a small apartment Wesley has been so sad, he is very much in need of someone who has more time and space for him. He is a very loving dog, with lots of spunk and life, he loves cats and has been known to snuggle and lick them. He has had some trouble when meeting other dogs if they are on a leash and he is not, if they are introduced with out a leash he gets along fine. He has always been sweet to our baby, but I think he would be ... (Read More)better in a home with out children, mainly because he is a baby himself and loves the attention, but also he has a tendency to be a little intense when playing and might bark or knock kids over with his tail! If you are interested in talking more about Wesley, I would love to hear from you. He can't wait to have a good friend to be there for him and give him what he needs. (Less)

Pit Bull    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: High Energy, Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

I have a 1 year and 2 month old Pit-bull Blue nose red nose cross. He is neutered and has current rabies vaccination. He is black with with some white areas on his head and chest. The reason I must part with him is because he bit my daughters friend in the face and I have 3 children in my house. He is also considered a dangerous animal by the city of Bend courts. He is a good dog, I just can't trust him around any children who are not mine. It pains me to do this, but it is the best option I have at this point. Anyone who is seriously interested will be required to provide proof of a good secure home, yard, and also proof that the Riley will ... (Read More)be accepting of you as well. He is my baby and I will not let him go to just anyone as I rescued him and his brother from a bad home as it was. Please only serious inquires from someone who can actually provide the proper care and environment for Riley. If you are serious and provide some sort of good proof I will send you a photo. Thanks for taking the time to look at my post and have a great day. (Less)

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Our family has made the decision to surrender our dog, Delilah. Our child is three and we are expecting twins. We are moving into a bigger place that doesn't want dogs, and allows for only a 6 month lease for us to figure out where we will live long term. We want a nice home for our family pet. She is 8, very athletic, energetic when you first see her, and extremely calm after about 10 minutes of excitement. Her name is Delilah, She's half border collie, half mut. (Vet thinks another herding breed.) She's an amazing exercise partner as well. Running, hiking, etc. Doesn't chew stuff and very house trained. She is an inside dog. She is ... (Read More)completely healthy. I recently took her to Banfield to get a complete checkup and get her up to date on vaccinations. I have all the paperwork to show her new owner. She isn't the best with small children. I think she gets nervous, our little one tries to cuddle with her too much. She would be awesome with older kids. She also isn't the best with other dogs. All in all though, she is a great dog. (Less)
