Rescue Me ID: 16-07-28-00043Jovi (male)

Collie Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

We would like to introduce you to Jovi. Jovi is a shepherd/collie mix who is 4 years old and weighs 73 pounds. He's a gorgeous fellow with plenty of energy, but one who also enjoys snuggling on the couch with his people and watching TV. Jovi is currently in a home with older children and three other dogs. Jovi would do best in a home with no small children. He is affectionate, playful, and strong willed. As with any strong, energetic breed, Jovi needs boundaries and structured walks and exercise! This guy would make a great running or hiking companion. Like children, dogs thrive best with lots of exercise and direction! We are looking for a ... (Read More)human family that can give him outlets for his energy and the boundaries he needs. Jovi is house trained and crate trained and when left alone he stays loose in the home. He is totally non-destructive. Jovi is a relatively quiet guy who barks if someone comes to the door or passes the window. He can be mouthy, but he is also highly intelligent and with some correct intervention, we are confident this behavior would dissipate. If you're looking for a beautiful boy with great potential, look no further, Jovi is your guy! To adopt, please submit an application at www.pottersangelsrescue.org and to view additional adoptable dogs and for more information. Adoption fees apply and vary by age: Under 1 year $300; 1-5 years $250; 6-8 years $200; and Over 8 years by donation. Thank you for choosing to adopt! (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-07-21-00711Naomi (female)

Bulldog Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

'Yo, my name's Naomi and I could be your homey or I could be your campy and ride 'round in your trucky-I don't give a ducky as long as you'll love me and make your girl.' Meet Naomi. Naomi is a 65lb 3 year-old female Bulldog mix. She is spayed, vaccinated and micro-chipped. This sweet chunka-monka has low energy and excels in loving her people. She would be happy to share your couch or bed, but she'd be fine sharing HER bed or rug with you, just sit down beside her and she will love you forever! Naomi may not win any races, but she burns calories, because her tail never stops wagging! Naomi LOVES her toys! During the day, she will often lie ... (Read More)on, chew on, and even toss them up in the air herself, to catch . . . all 65lbs of her, airborne! And though she is self-reliant this way, Naomi would prefer that YOU toss her a toy now and then. Naomi is very quiet and seldom barks . . . not even when she's in her crate, where she currently sleeps at night and stays when her people have to leave her alone in the house. Naomi will even use her crate (with the door open, when her people are home) to enjoy some quiet quality time chewing on her favorite bone. Naomi is housetrained and walks pretty well on leash. She knows, 'Sit,' 'Stay,' and 'Come.' It might surprise you, but Naomi adores her smallest doggie housemates. At just 8lb and 15lbs respectively, Naomi is a careful companion with her little friends. And, while she seems to prefer the tiny ones, she also does very well with one of the big guys, like her. Naomi has never been around small children though and due to her ample size, we recommend that her forever home be with children age 10 and above. Naomi is affection, eager to please, joyful, playful and well behaved. So, whether you live in a home, a camp, or even an RV; and whether you get around on foot, bike, bus, or you drive 'round in a 'trucky,' both you and Naomi will be LUCKY, if you chose to adopt her. To adopt, please submit an application at this link: http://form.jotform.com/form/11880935459 or visitwww.pottersangelsrescue.org to view additional adoptable dogs and for more information. Rescue Me ID: 16-07-13-00054BRITTON (male)

Pit Bull Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good with Cats
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

***IN NEED OF FOSTER OR ADOPTER*** The Britton is coming the Britton is coming! 'Ello, I'm Britton, not to be confused with Great Britain, that country across the pond known for the monarchy and colonialism, but also Stonehenge, Shakespeare, the Beatles, and Alan Rickman. Although, I am GREAT! I am known for being lovable, affectionate, playful, well behaved and a little standoffish. I know: 'Sit,' 'Paw,' and 'Want to go for a Ride?' to which the answer is always, 'Heck Yeah!' I love kind respectful children and have lived with all ages. Cats are too much fun to chase, so I shouldn't live with any of those. I am 'dog-selective,' which means ... (Read More)that there are some dogs that I don't get along with, but I am generally good and can overcome my 'selectiveness' with a little extra guidance and direction from my humans. Some dogs do just fine with lots of freedom, but in my case, I feel insecure. If you can give me some structure, limits, direction and praise, my confidence will grow. I am not a barker, except in reaction to something unfamiliar. I hate loud noises, like thunder and gun-shots. I am housetrained and have free roam of my home. I am new to walking on a leash but I'm a quick learner. I am a 60lb 5-year-old female Pibble mix. I am spayed, vaccinated and micro-chipped. To adopt, please submit an application at www.pottersangelsrescue.org and to view additional adoptable dogs and for more information. Rescue Me ID: 16-07-12-00622Pepper (male)

Shih Tzu    Age: Puppy

Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

[Singing] 'A Pepper is an interesting breed, and a patient leader's what I need. Puppy-mill dogs do say, only time can heal the pain away.' My foster mom sings me the Dr. Pepper jingle . . . 'I'm a Pepper, he's a Pepper, she's a Pepper, we're a Pepper, wouldn't you like to be a Pepper to!' Obviously, my name is Pepper. I am a 12lb 2 year-old male Shi Tzu. And, I am neutered, vaccinated and micro-chipped. As I allude to, I am the product of a puppy-mill. I lacked a real family, socialization or even, love. I struggle with fear and anxiety. But, I am not a hopeless case. I am a very hopeful case. I just need a gentle, patient human to give me ... (Read More)a chance at a normal life. I'm not going to lie, it won't be easy. But, it also won't be impossible. The good people at Potter's Angels Rescue have experience with dogs like me and will be happy to discuss my issues and how to best help me overcome them. I know the word, 'Down.' I like popcorn. I observe the one-year-old grandchild from a safe distance, but I don't run away. I generally keep a distance from all people. But, I am beginning to play with some of the dogs that I share my foster home with-so, that's progress. I used to only watch them, but now, I am happy to see them and I wag my tail and I play . . . I play! I am housetrained and I have free roam during the day and am let into a fenced in yard to do my business; at night I sleep in a crate. My foster mom was encouraged when I allowed her to pick me up and I sat on her lap while she rubbed my ears . . . I even made a cute face for her, she said my expressions are adorable. [singing] 'My name is Pepper don't you see, that it's the perfect name for me. My fur's a mix of black and white and only love can make my future bright! I'm a mopin' Pepper, hopin' Pepper, wary Pepper, hairy Pepper. Wouldn't you like to adopt a Pepper too?' Rescue Me ID: 16-07-09-00452Stella (female)

Pit Bull Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Stella is a Rhodesian Ridgeback mix who loves to play, but doesn't get along with all small dogs. She lives happily with her furr-less friends who are 6, 4, and 1 as well as cats, ducks and chickens. We have had her for about 3 years, and unfortunately have to move to South Carolina where we are not able to take her. She loves to play fetch, is very addicted to her food and loves her big brother, a 95lb Rhodesian Ridgeback. We rescued Stella from Helpers for Shelters who in turn rescued her from a kill shelter in North Carolina. She had had a litter of pups, who were easily adopted and all live happily with their families. She loves ... (Read More)her female owners and would protect them dearly. She actually does better with male owners because she is less apt to feel the need to protect them and keep them safe. She has a constant urge to listen and obey. She wants to be a good girl and works very hard to listen and do what her owners want. We do not let her on the furniture or beds, and she happily obeys and takes to her dog bed nicely. She knows how to heal, but gets overly excited when it's time to walk (she actually nibbles your fingers), so a prong collar is recommended just because she is very strong and lets squirrels get the best of her. She would do best in a home with lots of land and other large dogs or cats. She would not do well in a community of homes with small lots, as you just never know which dogs she will like, and which ones she will not. We will include her leash and prong collar along with her dog bed to help with her transition. She is a wonderful animal with so much love to give to the right loving family. I've attached a video of her playing with our children. https://youtu.be/YspKda5C0Us (Less)

Pit Bull    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

What do you get when you cross an Akita with a Pitbull? Well, we'll let you come up with the name for this cross, but let's start with this: A beautiful, athletic, high energy dog with a bit of a mind of his own! Let us introduce you to Kukie. Kukie is a 6 year old, 66 pound male with glossy, black fur and 'radar' ears. He's good with kids, does well unattended in the house, knows sit, stay, down, and heel (while leashed),and walks well on leash. Kukie is well behaved and playful. He's not crate trained, but due to his non destructive behavior, he's okay without it. Kukie is an escape artist, and we'd encourage any prospective adopter to ... (Read More)make sure that he is well enclosed or well leashed. He will bolt for the door, and he does love to run. At 6 years young, he has the energy to keep going and going and going! Now, if you're a runner or a hiker and you've got good command with dogs, his energy will be your greatest strength together. While he's indoors hanging out with his foster family, he's quiet as a mouse. That said, Kukie is an excellent watch dog, and we are confident that no one will arrive at your house and catch you off guard. We feel that Kukie will do well in a home where he has plenty of room to roam and gets plenty of exercise. Kukie would do well with an experienced dog owner, especially an owner who has worked with and owned dogs that have a bit of an independent streak. We all know that some of the most head strong people around us can be the most affectionate, and that holds true for Kukie. He will make an excellent companion in a home where he is not the 'boss,' but where he knows that his people have his back and will keep him lovingly in check. Lab Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Potter's Angels? How about Potter's Giants! Here's Jack, a beautiful, 90 pound, lab/retriever/pit mix who's 3 years old and ready for action. Jack is a medium energy boy. He loves his exercise, however his foster mom says that he can be left alone in the house outside of a crate without getting into trouble. As with most big boys, though, he could use some consistent walking, running, or hiking to fulfill his needs. Jack is eager to please and very affectionate. He has even learned to balance a treat on his nose and catch it! You might hear him give a whine or two as he waits, but who can blame him? He needs some fuel to keep that big body ... (Read More)moving! He is neutered, house trained, trained to an electric fence, and even has a few other tricks up his sleeve. He will sit, shake a paw, and lie down on command. He does love his Kong and his bones, and will settle down for a good chew when he's ready to chill. Jack could use some work walking on a leash without pulling. Potter's would recommend that he be trained to walk with a head harness, since he is such a strong guy. Although Jack is friendly with all people he meets we are looking for a home without young children due to his size. Foster mom says that Jack is friendly toward other dogs and has a playmate his size who he loves to play hard with. However, he thinks cats were made for chasing so no cats for Jack! He can get distracted by strangers, she says, but we think that with his great size and beautiful face, he might distract a few strangers himself! If you are a lover of big dogs, Jack might be just the companion for you! Bulldog Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

We'd like to introduce you to Pierce, a fun loving, medium sized bull dog mix with sweet, soulful eyes and a joyful, playful, affectionate personality. At 1-2 years old he still has some of his puppy energy (which bubbles up in some wild scampering through the house at times), but for the most part he's the kind of guy who likes to relax with his foster family. He loves a nice walk every day to help him use up some energy, like most dogs do. He takes his walks with a harness, and occasionally he does need to be reminded not to pull when he sees something really great, like a rabbit or another dog. He has learned to sit, and he gets to do ... (Read More)that often to help him make sure he knows how important it is to pay attention to foster mom. What two year old doesn't need a little direction at times? With patience and practice he's turning into a real sitting champ! Pierce is generally a quiet boy, but he will bark to warn you if someone is at the door. He is crate trained, and spends his time there when his foster family is out. Pierce likes older kids, but with his bouts of energy, he might be a little much for younger children. 'In many ways he really is just a big, sweet baby with a squishy face, especially when he is sleeping; he makes sweet noises of contentment,' foster mom says. She feels that Pierce is going to make a wonderful companion to his people when he finds his forever home. Foster mom thinks that Pierce would do well in a home with folks who would continue his training and who have some prior experience with dogs. We would recommend a house without cats for this youngster. Pierce is a 1-2 month old bull dog mix. He weighs in at 45 pounds. He's neutered, microchipped, and is current on all vaccines. He knows 'sit', and he's almost housetrained. If you're looking for a partner for your next adventure, you might have found your dog! Rescue Me ID: 16-05-19-00313Tweek (male)

Chihuahua Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

My name is Tweek and this name suits me well! I am an energetic, fun loving dude that is learning about all of the wonders that this world has to offer. I love to play with other energetic dogs. I'm kind of a weird little guy and I am looking for someone who can be understanding and patient with my excitable behavior. My foster mom currently walks me on a slip lead and I learn really fast. If you don't allow me to pull on the leash, I won't. However, I'm smart, so if you don't set the walking rules, I will start making my own rules. I know how to sit but I don't sit still for long. It is clear that in my past life, I was starved for ... (Read More)attention. When I first got to my foster people, I reacted towards many weird things like guard rails, stationary machinery, signs, cars, kids on bikes. I was seeing so many things for the first time. BUT when my people allowed me to investigate the things, I became disinterested to those same objects the next time around. I learn quickly and am doing well with such patient fosters. One thing is for sure, I am always full of happiness! The only time I really calm down is when I am in my crate. I calm down quickly in there. When I am left loose and alone, I could get a bit mischievous so having a crate for me to stay in when you're gone would be a good idea. I enjoy playing with other dogs and I would do best with another active dog. I am good with cats and leave them alone for the most part. I will pester them at times but respect them when they stand their ground. I would likely chase a cat if it ran but not to hurt it. I just wants to play with everyone I meet! I have not been around children before, but because I get so excited, it would probably be best if I lived in a home without kids. I can be a bit vocal when I am out in the big bad world, but I'm working on quieting down for my people. So basically, I'm just a little wild man. I'm full of character and I'm one of those dogs that you can't be sad around. If I can't lift your spirits, than nothing can. I do need some patience and understanding when I am out in the world, but I'm getting better every day. I'm not a dog for the faint of heart. I have a powerful presence and am looking for a partner that will work with me, not against me. Tweek is a 15 lb., 1 year old, Chihuahua mix. He is spayed, vaccinated and microchipped. Rescue Me ID: 16-05-18-00638Charlie (male)

Pit Bull    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Ello, Charlie here, so very pleased to make your acquaintance. I am a 50lb 2-3 year-old male American Pit Bull Terrier and I am neutered, vaccinated and micro-chipped. You might notice that I have a rather significant overbite that results from issues with my mandible and nasopharyngeal area and can cause some breathing difficulties from time to time. I have a prescription for two medications that I take only as needed-which is rarely. My people are happy to share more information with anyone interested in adopting me. It's just most important that I avoid becoming over-heated. I wear a 'Sense-ation' harness when walking. I have mastered, ... (Read More)'Sit,' 'Wait' and 'Down'. I sit and wait for my meals. So, now, I am learning, 'Leave It' and 'Off.' I am a happy puppy at heart. Sometimes, I am tempted by socks . . . but other than those wonderfully smelly garments, I don't bother my peoples' belongings. I do enjoy all manner of dog toys and chews. I like to play with them by myself, with people-friends, or with dog-friends, like me. My foster-sister, Libby and I are presently engaged in a never-ending war, called 'tug.' Even though people call it 'war,' its just play for us and we don't care who wins. I get along famously with quite a menagerie of dogs at my foster home . . . there is just one rather outspoken old man who is gruff with all of us, but I am learning to give him a wide-berth. Though no children live here, several visit regularly. They range from ages 8 to 14 and with slow respectful introductions I am very comfortable around them and rather enjoy being loved by them. I do recall that when younger children would rush at a dog I was frightened. When my people are away during the day, I stay in my crate. I complain a little at first, because I would much rather be with my people-friends or dog-friends, but I quiet down soon enough. I have been called, a lover and player, delightful, a sweet boy, and sometimes, a 'space-invader,' because I LOVE to snuggle. I am affectionate, eager to please and well-behaved. When I first meet new people, I can be a little standoffish-I do best if they just ignore me and allow me to approach them when I am ready. If you give me a little space when we first meet, I will be happy to 'invade your space' and give you love, if you let me. Boxer Mix    Age: Young Adult

My name is Lowen. It is pronounced (Lew-Vin) and means lion. But, my friends call me Lowie. I am an 84lb 2 year-old male . . . people speculate that I could be a boxer-mastiff-lab mix. I am neutered, vaccinated and micro-chipped. You may think that a big dog like me wouldn't be afraid of anything, especially something that is smaller than I am, but children scare me. I have been a practically perfect boy in nearly every other way, and my people are very sad that they can't keep me, but they are going to have a baby soon. They say I am a special dog that will forever hold a special place in their hearts-I am a friendly, loving, cuddly big ... (Read More)ole' goofball who is a joy to be around-and that I deserve a forever home where I can freely run and play without the stress of a young child. I am housetrained. I don't chew things that don't belong to me. When my people are out during the day, I have free roam. At night, I sleep in my crate. I am not vocal or whiney, but I do have a serious alert bark when people knock on the door. I enjoy regular exercise. Most days, I take two-30min. walks. Sometimes, I see children on my walk and I'm okay-I just prefer that they don't approach me. I love to play fetch in the fenced in yard. I also like to play at doggie daycare and do well with dogs of all sizes. Although I get along wonderfully with other dogs most of the time, I choose to eat separately because my food is very important to me. I have never lived with cats, but I have seen and barked at some. Squirrels are fun to chase. I know: Sit, Stay, Down, Leave It, Come, and Paw. I am a very well-behaved boy around the house, except for being an opportunistic sock-thief. But, if you put your dirty sox in the hamper where they belong, I can't steal them!     Up for adoption: Flor. This stunning girl can be adopted in New England. We think she may be a a Great Pyrenees / Lab mix who is about one year or so old and about 85lbs. Flor is very playful and loves other dogs. She will follow the lead of other dogs. She likes long walks in the nature preserve trails by my house. She is learning leash walking daily and has a very healthy appetite! She is a big, loveable baby that loves belly rubs. She would love to have a home with another dog or dogs. Rescue Me ID: 16-03-26-00195Frida and Greta (female)

German Shepherd    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Not Good with Cats, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Low Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Still looking for a loving home for our girls. They are older but awesome companions. Posted a video of them playing in the warmer weather today. Please consider them if you love shepherds, have a nice yard, no young kids, and are looking for two dogs to keep you company without the excessive energy of a younger dog.**** These two girls were our first children. We are sadly needing to re-home them due to our son having significant allergic reactions to dogs. Frida and Greta are two wonderfully affectionate and classically loyal pure bred German Shepherds. They are a year apart and have grown up together. Frida is 8 and Greta will be turning ... (Read More)7 in June. They will need to be ADOPTED AS A PAIR as Greta, the less confident of the two (on the right in photo), greatly depends on Frida (on the left, darker face in photo) to feel secure. Frida and Greta would do well with someone looking for companion dogs to keep them company when they are home. They are fully house trained, can be left for a full working day if needed, and are very content to sleep on furniture most of the day. They enjoy each other's company but enjoy people's company more. They love being pet, talked to, played with, and also just being in your vicinity while you read, go on facebook, etc. *** Dogs and kids: They would likely do best in a home with no other dogs and no young children. They have never been asked to live with another, already established dog so it's hard to say how it would go- likely it could be done but it's hard to predict. They currently live with our 1 year old son. They have never shown aggression toward him (even when he grabbed Frida by the jowl and we had to pry him off of her) but they do actively avoid him (will move to a different room if he enters a room). They have been comfortable around older children (3-5) who ignore them or pet gently.*** Health: Neither dog has any major health problems. Both have dry skin. Frida's ears need frequent cleaning. Both dogs have had an ear hemotoma that was surgically dealt with. Frida has a cyst on her back that recently ruptured and will be removed. They eat 2.5 c/day of Iams Adult food, broken into 3 meals with a milkbone and piece of Pupperoni at each meal (yes, they are shepherds and couldn't just eat it plain!).*** Exercise: Frida and Greta are used to a good session of fetch daily/every other day in the yard. They love squeaky toys! We have a fenced in yard- Greta would never leave the yard but Frida would certainly wander without a fence (fortunately she mostly 'runs away' at a walk and enjoys being caught).*** Housemanners: Both dogs have excellent house manners. They do go on furniture because we have allowed that but are not persistent (if you put something on the couch like a big pillow to block them). They are not destructive, do not chew, etc. They will take food if it's on the floor and may consider something on a very low coffee table if left unattended but will not jump up and take things. *** Crating/being left alone: Frida is excellent being left- she can be left in or out of the crate. Greta needs to be left with Frida in order to feel okay. If left alone without Frida, she needs to be crated and will howl and show signs of significant anxiety. When crated next to Frida she does fine. Typically, when concerned about anything, both dogs feel most comfortable in their crates. Both are very good at going into their crates whenever asked. Shar-Pei Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Meet, Joe Black! Joe Black is joyful, playful and puppy-like, well-behaved and shy. No one invested time in training Joe Black, until his rescue. So now, he is learning basic commands, and knows, 'Sit.' Joe Black finds walking on leash a little scary so he wears a harness. He is tentative of people at first, but responds quickly to human kindness. Joe Black doesn't live with children but we believe he would be fine with kids age 8 and older. Born to be a pack member, Joe Black should live in a home with other social dogs. Joe Black is very calm, easy-going and sweet with other dogs. He will engage in cordial play. He is gentle and takes ... (Read More)social cues and canine corrections well. He gets along with dogs of all ages, sizes and gender. Joe Black eats right along-side the other dogs, without incident. While untested, we believe he would get along well with cats and other animals. Joe Black is house trained and non-destructive. He is crated when left alone, but would probably be fine with free roam. Still need a reason to meet Joe Black? Well, we are told that he runs around like a newborn foal, not used to his legs, yet. Joe Black is a 45lb 2 year-old male Shar Pei mix. He is neutered, vaccinated and micro-chipped. Rescue Me ID: 16-03-12-00349Billy (male)

Airedale Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Very High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

My name is Billy. And, I am as agile as a Billy goat. Don't believe me? Just watch me climb! I am a super smart boy, too. Put together my climbing and jumping abilities with my supreme intelligence and what do you get? A future champion agility dog! Yeah, I see blue ribbons in my future. But, I have a very big hurdle to clear before that can happen . . . I have to be adopted. As much as I would love to compete for blue ribbons, I will feel like a champion just to have a HOME. So if agility isn't your thing, don't let that stop you from meeting me. I just need someone who will engage my brilliant mind and provide me with daily exercise ... (Read More)because I have energy to burn. Billy is a 43lb 1 %BD year-old male Hound-Airedale Terrier mix. He is neutered, vaccinated and micro-chipped. He is affectionate, joyful, and playful. Billy knows how to sit and wait for his food, he enjoys running on the treadmill and is an excellent and well-behaved walking companion. He is crate trained and will require a crate in his new home. He loves to be with his people and be a part of what is going on. He is currently being fostered with 7 other dogs and has gotten along great with everyone, including a 5 lb chihuahua. We feel he would excel in a home that could provide him with the mental stimulation and leadership that he craves. He has even been introduced to cats and wasn't very interested in them. Billy is house-trained and non-destructive indoors when his people are home. He has met a two year old boy and been very respectful and gentle towards him, but we would rather not have a home with young children so that Billy's new home has the time (and energy) needed to provide a structured life for Billy. Billy is fun-loving, silly and goofy, and we are looking for the home that can keep this beautiful boy at his potential. Billy does extremely well with a structured routine and clearly defined expectations. Billy, part goat, part dog, is all worth it! Pointer Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Very High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Seizures

[Read About Natural Seizure Care] My name is Baxter.. I am fully house-trained and crate-trained. I know: Sit, Down, Stay, etc . . . I ignore cats and get along with dogs. My foster mom has 3 dogs and a cat and I play well with them. I REALLY like being with my human, I will lay near you while you work inside or outside. When my foster mom is gone I lay on the bed and wait for her to return. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE going for walks, jogs or hikes. I will tell you all about it, as quietly as I can while we get ready. Did I mention I LOVE going for walks and hanging out with you. I lived in a home with three small children and although I loved them ... (Read More)dearly they made me anxious when they got excited. Especially the really young ones that are unstable on their feet- I worry so much! I also went to a doggy day care which I loved. So, I am seeking home without young children under the age of 6 years where I can relax. I would love to be your companion! Do you enjoy training in agility? I excel at jumping obstacles, so I am pretty sure I would be good at it! I can leap over average-size 4' fences, and even 'invisible' fences, in a single bound. I have many other strengths, as well. I would be remiss if I did not also mention that I take an inexpensive medication twice-daily for a seizure disorder. My juvenile idiopathic epilepsy is totally managed with no side-effects or complications, and it does not slow me down! Baxter is an approximately 5 year-old 63 lb male of mixed decent(retriever/pointer?). He is neutered, vaccinated and micro-chipped. Pit Bull Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Are you a well-balanced confident leader? Is your home environment calm and peaceful? Do you have experience working with strong intelligent breeds of dogs? Are you able to provide a well-structured routine? Are you a single adult or a couple looking for a companion dog? If you are, Emerson wants to meet you! Emerson is a 65 lb 4-year-old male Pit-Bull Terrier. He is neutered, vaccinated and micro-chipped. Emerson is crate-trained and house trained. He LOVES using the treadmill for indoor walks, as well as walking outside when on leash. Emerson is making great strides in his training and we feel he may be able to go to a home with another ... (Read More)dog who is calm and relaxed, but will wait for just the right fit. His interactions with other pets are fine under structured circumstances. But, we do not feel that Emerson would be successful in unstructured off-leash interactions at this point, because he becomes overly excited. However, every day he is showing improvement in this area! Nonetheless, we also recommend a home without children, so that a calm environment can be provided. Emerson likes having a routine. He thrives with a consistent daily schedule. Emerson is affectionate and loves a good head rub more than anything else. Emerson is eager to please and playful. Emerson does not like to be separated from his people if they are home. Don't expect to leave him out in the yard and have him be happy about it! However, if you leave the home, he quietly waits in his crate for your return. Emerson is currently being fostered by and is working with Paula Bergeron of the Good Dogma Canine Rehabilitation and Training Center in Grafton, NH. Emerson's foster/trainer, Paula, will offer his adopter four free lessons, and continued support for a positive beginning. **Emerson is part of our Home for the Holidays Special and his adoption fee has been reduced to $150 until the end of January** Dear Santa, I have been a very good boy and I was hoping, if it wouldn't be too much trouble . . . could I have a person and a home to call my very own? PIease Read Before Adopting a Dog in Vermont
Dogs can make good pets in Vermont if they match your IifestyIe. Dogs have a reputation for being "man's best friend" for excellent reasons. Dogs are wonderful companions. Many breeds, in addition to being affectionate, devoted members of the family, are useful working dogs and guardians. Most dogs form tight bonds with their humans, and need to be cared for like the valuable family members they are. But sadly, some owners do not live up to the responsibility and involvement it takes to properly care for a dog throughout its life. Dogs can become the victims of neglect or active abuse. Some dogs receive tender, attentive care from their owners, but no longer have a home after their owner passes away or experiences a major life event that makes him unable to keep his dog. There are many more dogs than there are homes for dogs, and dogs that are not spayed or neutered can accidentally produce large numbers of puppies, exacerbating overpopulation. For this reason, three to four million dogs, many of them perfectly healthy and wonderful animals, are euthanized in the U.S. each year.

Many people get excited about owning a new dog, decide to get a puppy, and then pick one out at a pet shop or visit a breeder with a new litter. However, there are so many wonderful, friendly dogs in need of adoption, including puppies and purebreds. Some of these dogs might even be a better fit for a family than a new puppy; for instance, some adult dogs in need of adoption are already housebroken and obedience trained. Adoption is typically much less expensive than purchasing a dog. People who adopt dogs find the experience extremely rewarding, bond very closely with their dogs, and have the added satisfaction of knowing that one less animal has to be euthanized. If your family is ready for a canine companion, please consider adopting a dog!

lnteresting Dog Trivia Low-Cost Vermont Spay & Neuter Clinics
All dogs, even cute little lap dogs, are ultimately descended from domesticated wolves. There are hundreds of dog breeds with extremely varied characteristics and sizes, from the tiniest teacup Chihuahua to the hugest Mastiff, but all of these breeds make up just one species Canis lupus familiaris and can theoretically breed with one another (although there can be practical and health related constraints.) Dogs are red-green colorblind.
