An older puppy orphaned who needs a truly-forever home. He lived with a family of six the past 8 months and was rescued because his family had to move for work and could not take him with them. They had him for about 8 months. He'll mostly miss his 5 year old, 12 year old, and 15 year old human kids. Professionally evaluated for any signs of fear, people or dog aggression. He passed with flying colors; exhibits excellent behavior. Exhibits signs of wanting to be the alpha dog when with other alpha dogs but will roll on his back for belly rubs with humans! Professionally evaluated for commands ability; he follows basic commands well ... (Read More)(sit, stay, down, come here) House Broken (and crate trained) He's an indoor dog who's used to sleeping in bed with his human parents but he's happy with a dog bed. Gentle demeanor with puppy enthusiasim. A 'dog's life' personality about himself. Lived with three kids ranging from 5yrs old to 15yrs old and misses them. He should be fed alone in with a family that has other dogs; he thinks 'My toys and food are mine and I don't want to share.' Outside of food/toys, he does not show issues with other dogs at all. Has met two more dogs in foster home with no problems at all. Overall a very happy dog who needs some love and care to give a lifetime of unmatched happiness! I've spent lots of time with him- he's seen squirrels, dogs, cats, and two deer (I took him to Rock Creek for a good run). He NEVER BARKS at other animals or people in the country or in the city. CUDDLY!! He knows how to do one thing and he does that one thing VERY well- give hugs!! He LOVES LOVES LOVES a good hug. He sits on your feet if he wants to show you affection when not receiving hugs... and he does love to sit on the feet of his person. Or lie down next to them. He is great on open car rides. Rides all over in a convertible. He also does really well in crowds- a friend and I walked him around Chinatown yesterday; he loved and thrived in all the ruckus. Actually he's really great in agility too... he knew which car was his kinda-mom's and he lept OVER the door and into the car where he gently sat in the passenger side when I asked if he's ready for a ride. She has a problem marking indoors if a male is present. Fixing should remedy this problem but it is recommended that she has constant access to outdoors to use the bathroom appropriately.
