Princess Jillian is my name and I have to say I'm quite an attractive girl. I'm a 12 week old Australian Shepard mix with a naturally short tail and beautiful blue merle coloring. Animal ID: 1718Solo (male)

Rat Terrier    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Solo is a wonderfully sweet and friendly 1-year-old. At 8 lbs., he is a little thin, but since he's still young, he will probably put on another pound or two. Solo is a Type B, or Teddy Roosevelt, Rat Terrier, which means he has short legs and a long body. What Solo lacks in stature, he makes up for in personality! He likes meeting new people and dogs, but he's suspicious of young children and likes to bark at them from a distance. He's very snuggly and loves to curl up next to people on the couch. He is also very playful and likes to play fetch with small toys, preferring to play indoors when it's cold outside (smart boy). Originally from ... (Read More)Alabama, he's still adjusting to the strange, hard, and very cold white stuff covering the ground at his foster home in Wisconsin. In fact, he can often be found lying in front of the fireplace (VERY smart boy). While Solo enjoys playing with most of the dogs in his foster home, all of whom outweigh him by 5 to 100 lbs., he prefers the other spunky, young terriers. He would be a great fit for a home with another small-to-medium dog, especially one who likes to wrestle and then cuddle. Solo is respectful, responsive, and well mannered in the house. He's house trained, crate trained, and rides well in the car. He also does well on leash but doesn't want to go for walks when it's very cold (SO smart). Solo does not like to be left alone and cries loudly when his people leave him, but he will likely overcome this behavior with time as he learns to trust that his people will return. With his sweet, sensitive disposition, Solo will do best with positive training methods and deserves a family who will shower him with love, keep him warm, and let him know he will be safe and adored forever. If yours is that family, please apply for Solo! You can see more pics of Solo at http://imageevent.com/newrattitude/solo . ========================================================================================If you are interested in adopting Solo, please go to New Rattitude's website at http://www.NewRattitude.org/adopt.htm, where there is detailed information and a link to our adoption application.     Hi! My name is Snoopy and I'm a 1 year old beagle mix, not yet neutered, about 30 pounds. I have a playful, happy personality and always make my foster parents laugh. I'm from Kentucky so I'm still getting used to the Wisconsin weather. I'm potty trained and stay in a crate when my fosters are at work. Once I'm comfortable I love to explore, so I may pull a little on the leash. I love roaming the fenced in yard. I'm good with kids and dogs, but I haven't been around cats yet. I love to play with all different toys and sometimes I'll hide the toy so someone looks for it! I am a shadow to my fosters and love to snuggle. At night I ... I would love to find a family that will love me forever! I'm currently being fostered in Caledonia, WI. If interested please complete an application at www.hopingfurahome.com. German Shorthaired Pointer Mix    Age: Puppy

Health: Neutered

Please review our Adoption Process at www.wgspr.com/adoption. All interested parties MUST complete an adoption application at: www.wgspr.com/adoption.htm. NOTE: WGSPR does not have a kennel. All dogs are fostered in homes throughout the state of Wisconsin. 2/4/16: GO BIG OR GO HOME! If that's your motto, then I'm your dog! I'm Max, and I'm a 1 to 3-year-old German Shorthair Pointer/Coonhound mix or what you might call a 'designer breed.' LOL. My foster mom says I'm strong and handsome and have quite the charm. I love snuggles, belly rubs, soft blankets, and playing with my hooman foster brother who is seven. We play tag and tug of ... (Read More)war together. House training is going well and my foster mom says I'll get the knack of it soon. My foster family is proud of me as I have excellent manners and do not counter surf or dig through the garbage. I already know the command for sit, potty, and house. Leash training is proving to be a breeze as I was not too fond of it when I first came into rescue but as long as I get to use my nose to smell all the wonderful smells outside I'm happy to be on the leash. I must confess I do not like cats; they are up to no good I just know it! I do get along with my canine brother and sister but I think their noses are broken as they don't use them much. I show no food aggression when we all get our treats mom makes. I love treats! I will do anything for a treat. Oh, did I mention I sleep through the night in my kennel. I usually bark one time to say goodnight and then fall fast asleep. My foster mom thinks this is adorable. I'm really, really excited to meet you and show you just what a fun guy I can be. You will love me; I guarantee it! 1/30/16: Max just arrived on 1/30/16 into rescue. He is a GSP/Coonhound mix and estimated at 1-2 yrs old. We think he is so handsome! Max gets along with other dogs, he is neutered, chipped and up to date on his vaccinations. He is a larger pup and very STRONG! Since he has been in foster care, Max is learning sit and we've already been making progress on the pulling on a leash. Max is very food motived and catches on quick. Max HATES cats and would rather eat them as to look at them. Max needs to gain about 15 pounds as he is very thin. Our foster family will be working with Max and training him the basics. Stay tuned for more about this handsome fella! (Less)

Schnauzer Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Hi, my name is Mister. I am a part Schnauzer/Poodle mix. I think I am about 9 years old and weigh about 17 pounds. I was a rescue dog and lived in the wild for about 1 %BD years. After I was adopted, I lived with my human on a small farm for about 4 years. During that time I was hit by a car and now have problems jumping up and can't be lifted up by my hindquarters without pain. I moved up here with my human about 2 years ago. Then, sadly, my human passed away. I love being with someone all the time. I like to play and to be petted and snuggled up to someone. I am not good with small children. I have been neutered and microchipped. Up to ... (Read More)date on all my shots. I am groomed every six weeks. My complete medical records are at the North Shore Animal Hospital. I just received my new dog tag for 2016 and my rabies vaccine is good to 06/12/2017. I hope someone adopts me soon as my current humans have 2 other dogs and it is a crowded home. (Less)

Health: Vaccinations Current, Arthritis

Molly is a good tempered, real easy going dog. He was raised by my stepson and his Dad, but his Dad died in October, and we really need a good home for her. We would keep her but our Siberian won't tolerate her, jealous dog that she is. She has a leg injury (ligament, maybe) that we are not able to financially deal with, and she is on medication for the time being. Great disposition, a bit on the slow side, as she is on meds, but she is great in the house and with kids or adults. Looking for a good home for her, she deserves to be treated well. Thanks

I am a little older but I still have energy left! I am a little shy when I first meet people but once I warm up to you I will roll over and show you my belly. Belly rubs are my favorite! I also love to cuddle! I will cuddle with anyone and anything. I love to find pillows or plush blankets when my foster mom isn't around.     Gracie's mother was purebred Jack Russell, her father a Yorkie/Maltese. Her fur is about an invh and a half long and she does shed. She looks fantastic with a short clippered haircut. I am looking for a new home for Gracie. She has energy and affection needs that cannot be met with our three young children. Gracie loves playing aggresive rope toy and wrestling, she is very excitable and fun. She seems to be anxious around children; older children would be fine, especially if they enjoyed walking and running with her. She was my first baby and my ideal home for her would be child and other dog free with someone excited to dote on her princess-self. (Less)

Hi! My name is Boris and I'm a 4 year old neutered retriever mix, most likely with a bit of Saint Bernard in me. I'm one of the sweetest, goofiest boys you could ask for. I've had a rough go lately traveling all the way from Texas where I was picked up as a stray. My foster mom took me to the vet and I'm in pretty darn good shape. However, I'm still a bit skinny, but putting on weight nicely. I was hit by a car at some point and have an old pelvic and femur fracture. My fracture didn't heal quite right and I sometimes walk with a slight limp on my back right leg. Don't let this deter you, as I can still keep up with my doggy foster sister, ... (Read More)who is an explosion of energy. I will most likely need to be on a joint supplement to stave off arthritis. Some more about me...I'm super gentle with people and dogs. I love to snuggle and give kisses. I've been around a 6 year old boy and did very well. I don't jump, love to chew on bones and rubber toys. I go potty outside and can hold it all night. My foster mom kennels me when she's at work, but at night I have free roam and love to sleep on the couch. I walk well on a leash, know how to sit and do great in the backseat during car rides. I'm looking for someone to love me and let me love them back for the rest of my life. Boris is being fostered in Menomonie, WI. Lola can also be a bit clumsy :) She is currently 60lbs & needs to put on an additional 10-15lbs. Lola's hind elbows turn in because she was kept in a crate too small for her. This might correct itself in time with proper excerise. She is housebroken & crate trained. Lola is fostering in Woodstock, IL. She is vetted and spayed - ready for her new home! Her ... Chihuahua    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Mimi wants to know if she can be your valentine... This little love bug was left behind in an apartment when her owner moved away. But thank heaven a neighbor came to Mimi's rescue when it was clear that she had been abandoned. Mimi has very soft fur, a cute little kinky tail, and she would make a wonderful companion and lap warmer for a dog-loving couple or an elderly person. She is between 6 and 8 years old and she weighs about 6 lbs, so she is just a tiny thing! Mimi gets along well with other dogs (although she doesn't really "play" with them so she would probably be happy as an "only" dog). Mimi seems to be pretty ... (Read More)well house trained (although--like most tiny dogs--she doesn't like the cold so until it warms up, she might prefer using a pee pad.) Because she is so little, a young child could inadvertently injure her, so an adult adopter (or a couple with no children) would be the best fit for her. Our vet believes Mimi has already been spayed and she clearly was loved once upon a time. She appears to be very healthy but we have Mimi scheduled to be completely vetted (bloodwork, a dental cleaning, a fecal test, shots, and heartworm test, and microchipping). She will be ready for adoption soon and her adoption fee is $300 (which helps to cover just SOME of the vet expenses we will be incurring, to be sure she's set to go when she goes to her new home). If you feel Mimi would be a good fit for you (and vice versa) please do NOT call us yet. You need to e-mail her foster mom at: rehome@onestarfish.net and tell her a little about your daily schedule, other family members, if you have other pets, etc. Then, if we all agree that Mimi might be the right dog for you, Mimi's foster mom will send you an adoption application to fill out-after which time a 'meet and greet' can be arranged.     Hi, my name is Caramel. I'm a 4 to 6 month old Pittie lab mix that is only around 30 lbs and I think I am a lap dog. My butt wiggles as fast as my tail wags and I am a pretty easy going puppy. My foster mom doesn't think I am going to be a very big dog, but I have a big heart. I love to play fetch, tug-of-war, and cuddle on the couch. I am learning fast to play with other dogs and I really don't mind cats. I am a little shy of people at first, but pull me into your lap and we will be instant buds. Rescue Me ID: 16-01-23-00463Dex (male)

German Shorthaired Pointer    Age: Senior

Please review our Adoption Process at www.wgspr.com/adoption. All interested parties MUST complete an adoption application at: www.wgspr.com/adoption.htm. NOTE: WGSPR does not have a kennel. All dogs are fostered in homes throughout the state of Wisconsin. 01/23/16 Update: As mentioned, Dex was brought into rescue as an 'owner surrender'. We have been able to learn a bit more about Dex and his situation from the kind lady who took him in to avoid having him being dumped in a shelter. Dex was kenneled for the majority of his life and used primarily as a guide and hunting dog. When Dex was not 'working' he was crated and kept at a ... (Read More)boarding kennel. As Dex began to age and slow down from his vibrant youthfulness, a kind lady 'rescued' him from the boarding kennel and placed him with a family. Before Dex knew it, his 'family' once again no longer could care for him and he found himself neglected and homeless. This is where WGSPR steps in. Dex's foster parents rescued him from his situation. Upon an initial assessment, they determined that Dex needed to see a vet as soon as possible as he was severely thin. Dex's initial vet appointment broke our hearts. The vet confirmed that not only was Dex approximately 10 to 15 lbs underweight, he also was suffering from several infections. He has a UTI infection that has went untreated for so long that its now caused an infection in his blood, his prostate is inflamed and infected, he has a tick borne disease - ehrlichiosis and has two intestinal infections - whipworm and hookworms. The positive news, everything can be treated with antibiotics. The next month will involve morning and evening medications, lots of rest and extra TLC! Dex is scheduled to go for another round of blood work and testing in a month and then we will know if we can initiate his vaccinations, microchipping and neutering. This fella has a road ahead of him and Dex will need everyone's paw prayers for continued healing. If you would like to help support Dex, we could use support with Dex's medical expenses and medications. Donations can be made through Paypal at www.wgspr.com. 01/17/2016 - WGSPR would like to introduce and welcome Dex! Dex is an owner surrender who is approximately 10 years of age. Please stay tuned for additional updates on Dex as we get to know him and work through some initial vetting! (Less)

Hello my name is Grace and I'm a beautiful 2yr old blue tick hound mix. I came from KY with my puppies and we were all very scared. I did my best to take care of them, but we were all left outside in the cold and I was so worried about them.     [Read About Natural Seizure Care] Hi, I have a 5 year old male pit bull. He is an amazing dog and a great lover, but we have been running into issues with jealousy and attention.. We work all day and we have a almost 1 year old and I am currently pregnant so he isn't getting as much attention as he needs.. He needs to be in a home with kids that are older that can give him attention and play with him. He needs someone active or to be on a farm. He gets along great with our cat, I don't know about other cats though... Also he gets along pretty well with most dogs.. Having him neutered would definitely help. I don't want to have to give him up ... (Read More)but with us not having time for him this is the best we can do for him.. He has occasional seizures. One every 6 months to a year. We don't know why.. He will also more than likely need his tail amputated because of severe happy tail and it is very painful for him and us... We have it scheduled, but we cant keep him.. Not with him being weird around our son.. If interested please call!! (Less)

All dogs are fostered in homes throughout the state of Wisconsin. 2/4/16: My name is Cash.. I am a mix of GSP/English Pointer and they tell me I'm 5yrs old, but I don't act like 5 more like 2-3 yrs. I am up to date on vaccinations, neutered & heartworm negative. Let me tell you all about my life from what I remember & what my foster family has learned about me, so let's go back to the beginning%BD'%BD|%BD'%BD|%BD'%BD| In July 2015 a ... (Read More)very nice lady found me on the street & took me to stay at pet hotel (aka shelter) where I was named Cash, I'm sure that's not my name. For 6 months I watched all my buddies get adopted but I was always passed over for one of my buddies. Once, I got a chance to get adopted but was returned after 5 days. I thought things were going great but they said I was messy. My one & only chance, I thought I blew it. Nobody wanted me so the wonderful concierge at the pet motel reached out to this great place called WGSPR for assistance in finding me a furever family. WGSPR was in WI and I was really scared about moving there. It was a long trip but I finally made it to WI. I was told I traveled very well the whole trip. My dog sister is grumpy & doesn't associate with me. I have been very respectful to her by turning my back to show I am a very submissive guy. Otherwise, I do get along with both of them very well. I also have a foster sister cat who is very comfortable with me, we play this game called 'pancake' where I see how flat I can make her with my front paw (I don't hurt her), it's way too funny but she doesn't think so but still loves me better than her brother & sister. I am still learning a lot including my name. I have not had any training of any kind. My foster parents have learned right away how to curb my bad habits from the pet motel (aka shelter). I get very excited when petted & touched; want this all the time, I didn't have much experience in this area but learning to control myself when petted. My humans have fitted me with a harness after noticing I become scared when you try to grab my collar and would run away from you. I am learning that the bathroom is outside but it took awhile as the humans figured out I am quite bashful & need to be there alone. I have responded excellent since receiving a treat when I go potty outside. I love attention of any kind, close to you as possible even if that means sitting right on top of you. I will follow you everywhere you go, even in the bathroom or shower but I will respect your privacy by turning away from you & not watch & wait for you to get done. Upon my arrival here I grabbed everything from slippers, pillows, shoes, etc and had my way with them. My humans have introduced me to toys & bones, not sure what they were since I never had any of my own before. I really loooove my bones, chewing on them all the time & toys are cool especially the squeekers. I am starting to walk great on a leash with a bit of gentle reminding of not to pull. I go in a crate or kennel without a fight & sleep through the night until you wake up. Had my nails done at the groomer was told that I did better than my foster brother, showers good too. I am HIGHLY treat motivated & it has been great for learning my commands. I still have a ways to go, but starting to understand what my human wants me to do with treats. I have started tap dancing for my food when it is dinner time. This is basically me in a nutshell, overall a great, respectful, shy, bashful, sweet young pup who needs attention, love & help on training. Would make a great addition to any home with other dogs, cats, and children, if interested in me please fill out an application & start the process today so I can meet you soon. Love ya!!!!! Thanks for reading my story all about me. 1/15/16: I am a 5 yr old GSP/EP mix and have spent the last 6 months in a shelter. I am so grateful to WGSPR for rescuing me and getting me into a foster home. I am up to date on my vaccinations, am neutered and microchipped. I am a high energy dog with lots of spirit! I get along with other dogs. Stay tuned for more information on me as my foster family gets to know me. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-01-17-00140Lucy (female)

German Shorthaired Pointer    Age: Adult

Please review our Adoption Process at www.wgspr.com/adoption. All interested parties MUST complete an adoption application at: www.wgspr.com/adoption.htm. NOTE: WGSPR does not have a kennel. All dogs are fostered in homes throughout the state of Wisconsin. 1/23/16: Feed me, give me a place to lay, and rub my belly. This pretty much sums up Lucy. Lucy is a diamond in the rough and is learning that being a dog isn't such a bad thing after all. She has great manners and minds well. She knows sit, stay, down, shake, and no. She loves treats and belly rubs but is shy and nervous when she meets new people. It only takes a few minutes for ... (Read More)her to warm up and then she will keep pawing you for more belly rubs. I am an older girl that appreciates a warm spot to lay and not a lot of commotion. I would prefer a home with older children, if any that are appreciative and respectful and do not move too fast. I ve also been tolerating my younger foster GSP sister in small doses although I also do not appreciate all of her energy and quick movements and I get grumbly with her sometimes . Im really looking for that special family that can spoil me into my golden years and show me what a dogs life is supposed to be like as my first 7 years haven't been that great. I walk very good on a leash and do not pull. When we get back inside I hop right back in my recliner and go right back to sleep, Im quite the couch potato. The shelter I came from reported I do not like cats and it's a good thing my foster family does not have any. Did I mention I ride very well in the car and that is one of my favorite things to do. I previously was an outside only dog and I haven't even had any accident in the house since coming into rescue. Im told Im a pretty good girl and that somewhere out there is someone whose life will be better with me in it, someone that I'll make laugh every day ( with the silly faces I make or dances I do for my food dish) and someone whose lap I'll keep warm. 1/17/16: I am an 7 yr old spayed female. I am up to date on my vaccinations and microchipped. I get along with other dogs. I just arrived into rescue so stay tuned for more information about me as my foster family gets to know me. (Less)

Rusty is a 1-2 yr. old Rat Terrier mix looking for his forever home. He was running stray and picked up by a lady who found his owners, only to have them say they didn't want him. He tested positive for heartworms and was treated. He is a very happy dog, loves people and other dogs. he would do best in a home without cats as he likes to bark at them.     We got Brutus from a lady in July that no longer could care for him. We took him in because we currently have 2 older English Bulldogs & love the Breed and felt sorry for him. Brutus is an Old English Bull dog. We think he was abused coming to us very thin and marked up. He is deaf in one ear and as some anxiety. (Probably from his disability) He has been very aggressive to my older male bull dog. We can no longer deal with having to keep the dogs separated. It is not fair to any of them. My two older bull dogs are seniors and Brutus is still a pup. Please give him a chance.

Flynn is fostered in Sheboygan WI, 53083 through United Yorkie Rescue http://www.unitedyorkierescue.org. To find out more about Flynn, contact his foster mamma at: wendys.furkids@gmail.com Flynn's a 7 year old, 6 lb. Yorkie boy. He came to United Yorkie Rescue in December 2015 through another rescue who saved him from an Amish puppy mill. The length of time he was at the Amish puppy mill is unknown, but it appears he's been a puppy mill dog his whole life. Flynn's currently adjusting to his new life of freedom, getting his vaccinations updated, dental completed, and will be neutered. He's very leery of people at this point in time, with no ... (Read More)socialization, but as is so common with puppy mill dogs, he's great with other dogs, as these are his people. Puppy mill dogs often require another dog in the home, to assist with their adjustment and learning, and provide the type of social interaction they're used to. Flynn will be learning to trust humans in his coming weeks and months of freedom and needs someone who's understanding of this new big world he's now a part of. He'll need help with potty training, human interaction and as with most puppy mill dogs, will need to either be leashed at all times when outside, or be contained in a fenced yard. At this time, Flynn needs a lot of patience, love, kindness, and a soft cheery voice. He eats in the same room with his foster siblings, and is fine with that. As we learn more about his personality, update will be made to his bio. If you have interest in completing an adoption application, visit http://www.unitedyorkierescue.org/ for more information. She does pay attention to the barn cat but when told no she refocuses. Rottweiler    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Female Dogs Only, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Apollo is a very sweet, handsome boy 1.5yr old Rotti with a tail! He needs some training and could use an obedience class. He loves to be in the center of what's ever happening. This kid has lots of spunk and loves to run and play. Apollo has some bad manners, don't we all. He likes to jump on people but his foster is mom working hard to correct that. Apollo is also learning that he doesn't have to be possessive of his bone, there is enough for everyone. He's been neutered and that should help his energy to slow down. He appears to likes like women more than men, but has had no trouble with either. He's being fostered with 2 other dog but ... (Read More)are both female. Foster mom is not sure about another male dog? He's currently being fostered on a farm and he's interested in the chickens, horses and cat but I believe in time and correction this will not be a problem. Mr Apollo totally needs to learn right from wrong and will require a strong owner with big breed experience. Once again, obedience classes will be a necessity. He's coming along with house breaking. Apollo is a really smart kid and when comfortable can be a handful but not in a bad way, just needs to be taught boundaries. There is a totally soft side to him though and he will cuddle next to you on the couch. He doesn't want anyone to know, but he also loves his belly scratched. Give this handsome man some time and he'll make a wonderful new family member for the right person. Apollo is being fostered in Mauston, WI. His adoption fee is $150 and covers his neuter, all age appropriate shots, health certificate and microchip. Please apply at www.hopingfurahome.com (DATCP 403260 DS). (Less)

Hi, I'm June Bug, but most call me June. I am a happy, sweet and very loving 9 month old Pit Mix. I already have my shots and am spayed. I get along well with my foster family's dog and cats, but sometimes need to be reminded that it's not proper to chase the cats! I am an awesome medium sized gal, weighing just about 35 pounds. Some of my favorite things to do are chewing on bones and rawhides, chase my foster dog sister around the fenced in yard and play with her in the snow, snuggle on the couch and give lots of hugs and kisses to all! Oh yeah, did I mention that I LOVE kids? The 6 year old boy that I live with loves giving me ... (Read More)attention and I just can't get enough of it! I'm still young, so I could use a family that has the patience to train me just the way they want me! I'm not a huge fan of my crate but will go in just fine if you bribe me with a little treat. I haven't had much stability in my life yet, so I do have some anxiety when left alone, but will adjust over time, I'm sure. Pit Bull Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Not Good with Cats, Good with Kids and Adults

Health: Needs to be Spayed

Brylee is a one year old red nose pit mix. She is a very sweet dog, who loves attention. Brylee is not fixed. I am unsure of her shot records at this time as I just rescued her for a neglect situation. (Will explain more.) I am looking to rehome her to her forever home. This home must NOT have other pets. She does not get along with small dogs or cats. I am unsure of how she gets along with large dogs, but i am positive she will thrive in a single pet home. Brylee has little training but is very smart and has picked up a lot in the short time ive had her. She will require work to learn basic commands but again, she is not dumb and will ... (Read More)learn. Brylee loves walks and squeaky toys. Brylee will come with, kennel, bed, food dish, water dish, several chew bones, toys, buckle collar, pinch collar, and leash. Her Story: Brylee was homed in Missouri with a female family of 2 adults and 5 children up to young teenagers. Bylee was not beimg cared for. She was kept in her kennel in the cold garage. She had no choice but to void in her own bed, which was nothing but two small bathroom rugs. I heard about her story and knew i needed to get her out. I met the previous owner in Rockford il to pick her up. Never meeting the dog or the family, i had total faith in this dog. However i do have one small dog and two Cats so i was not going to commit to adoption but rather fostering. My fear of my 3 small aniamls and her not gwtting along came true unfortunately. Since ive had her i have been heavly working on housetraining. We are down yo juat one or two accidents a day and she is well aware that she did wrong. I can tell that this will soon be resolved. I have been working on sit, down (as in lay), stay anf come with her. She is doing great on all 4, but occasionally struggles with down. She is a jumper, so i have been working on that by raising my knee. This is a bit harder but is slowly learning. Now once she sees my knee come up she still jumps but in the air rather than on me. Progress. On walks i have been working with her 'waiting'. With reminders she waits. She is very strong, so i do walk her with a pinch collar for training purposes. I believe the collar was used as a weapon vs a tool previously, she highly respects the collar. Rehomeing: I am looking for a person/couple/family that can give Brylee lots of love. This house must not have pets. I also would like references and do meet and greets at bkth my home and yours to assure her comfort. I am also asking for a small rehomeing fee of $150. Please contact me if you are interested in meeting this amazing dog. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-12-21-00546Mattie (female)

Rottweiler    Age: Young Adult

Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Mattie is a female Rottweiler, up-to-date on vaccinations, spayed. Approximately 3 years old (as of Dec. 2015). Mattie's story is a sad one ~ she was discarded, not once, but twice by the humans she trusted. Mattie is microchipped and we traced her back to her first owner, who said she was giving away to another party. This second party decided they no longer wanted Mattie so they opened their gates and let her free and chose not to reclaim her. She's now safe with us here at GGOH but she needs a place to call 'HOME'. Mattie, by no fault of her own, was not socialized very well or trained so she is in need of a person committed to ... (Read More)helping her. By going to some general obedience classes, helping her get socialized with other dogs and just giving her the patience and understanding she deserves you will see what a truly remarkable personality Mattie really has. She does require some handling experience as she is a strong gal but we can tell you this, this is one beautiful dog with a very loving spirit. Are you a Rottie fan? Could you be the one to give this sweet gal a new, loving home to call her own? Please take the time to come in and meet this sweetheart - we'll just bet you will see the potential we see in her, too. German Shorthaired Pointer    Age: Young Adult

1/16/16: Now that Coda is a healed from his neuter, he has come out if his shell. He likes to take things like toys, blankets, boots, water bottles and put them in a pile in the kitchen . He gets along well with his foster sister and brother and is testing the waters with them. They make sure he knows whats what. I do feed him with a Kong or ball in his bowl as he wolf's down his ... (Read More)food. We are working on taking things gentle, but I think food was held from him so sometimes he gets excited and gets your hand instead. He is also trying to table surf and if you don't watch what's in your hand he will try to snag it. He plows over everything, he would probably be better in a home with older kids. He loves to be near someone or his foster sibblings. He will only go out with them or one of us, doesn't like to be alone. He does ok in the kennel, or our spare bedroom when we leave, my son says he takes a bit to stop barking after were gone but then is ok. If he's in the living room I hear him jump on the door and he barks, something he needs to work on, but it's not bad. He barks with his foster sister when they want to go outside and has been good with no accidents lately. He's a sweet boy and is starting to come out of his shell. Yes ready to find his furever home. 12/22/15: Coda, knows sit now and we are working on down and come, also just learning his name. He did not know his previous name which made it easier to change. He is a sneaky marker (pee) and we have to keep him close for now. He is a bit affraid of loud noises and was nervous at first, when we took him out to the woods today he heard gunshots and at first tried to run, then after some more he would stop but not run. He gets along great with Bubba (male GSP) and is starting to really play with him. He barks at him to come outside to run. He did well on the long lead in the woods, he would bark and whine because he couldn't run like Bubba, he had his nose to the ground a lot. He will get xrays on his gunshot during his neuter. He has some drainage that they have him meds for and things are clearing up. He eats great is learning to take treats easy and loves loves loves attention. 12/12/15: Hello WGSPR Fans and Supporters! My name is Bullett and I am going to be making my way into WGSPR on Saturday. I have a very long travel day ahead of me as I am coming in from Ohio. I am approximately 2 years old and about 70#. I am up to date on my vaccinations and need to be neutered yet. I have lived a tough life previously and I am looking forward to a fresh start with my foster family and a new home. I do have a scar on my face from being shot. I am healing up and can't wait to see what WI looks like! Stay tuned for more information on me as my foster family gets to know me better! I would like to thank all the volunteers from OH GSP rescue and WGSPR and hopefully PIlots and Paws (if the weather holds up) for the assistance in my transport on Saturday 12/12. Please say a prayer for all of us that we have a safe journey! (Less)

She is crate and potty trained and she can reliably sit, fetch, down and leave it. I need my shots. a growth removed from my front leg, and to be neutered, which she knows would calm me down I am a happy dog, and very eager to be loved, but need a home that understands large breed dogs, how much work and cost they are, and how strong they can be. I love to play, but can be rough without intending to be. I love my toys and tug=o=war. I am very kindhearted and rather handsome. I get a lot of compliments. My Mom is sad that she can't keep me anymore, but circumstances are forcing her to realize that I am too much to handle with her already living with a friend that has been patient just for now. We lost our home last month when another friend/ landlord died and the family made us leave very suddenly. I need to find a special forever home. Could you be the one........? Thanks for reading my story........ (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-10-18-00528Ari (male)

German Shorthaired Pointer    Age: Young Adult

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

For Adoption Process, Application and Fee, please go to http://www.wgspr.com/adoption.htm 1/26/16: WGSPR just loves ARI! We are so hoping to help him find his forever home. He has been in rescue since September! Ari has come a long way from being fairly skittish and not wagging his tail to being a friendly dog. He prefers women over men, and has growled and snapped a few times. At times, Ari can get possessive over toys, food and water. Most of the time a human can take it away. He continues to be a very vocal dog, not as much barking as in the beginning, Now it appears to have a communication purpose and tries to have a conversation ... (Read More)with his humans. He seems to be okay around dogs his size, larger dogs he isn't a huge fan of. He seems to be tolerant of cats, but ours hasn't been a frequent visitor as he prefers the 'family' dogs that he knows he can intimidate. He loves to play chase and catch, he is a great jumper (fences don't keep him in). He is house trained and has only had accidents when his blood sugars have not been regulated. He knows his name, sit, stay, come and walks well on a leash with the harness. He does not appear to be prey driven, although he loves retrieving the training dummy. He is crate trained, loves car rides and is a snuggler...'where he fits, he sits.' He loves to sleep with people and will sleep all night, if crated he will be up around 3:30 am to go out and then beat you back to bed! Favorites for him are any thing food. He has counter cruised but it isn't as prevalent as it was at first. He loves peanut butter and kongs, as well as any kind of bone type toy. In true shorthair fashion fluff toys become I fluffed. He is diabetic and takes his insulin easily and allows me to flip his lip and check his blood levels at least 2 times a day, but often more frequently. Ari is a wonderful dog, who would probably like to be king of the castle. He does well with children 5 and up, he hasn't had a lot of exposure to smaller people. He had met a newborn and was gentle, but didn't have a lot of experience with him. It will take him some time to warm up to the man of the house, but once he does he can be a shadow figure. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-09-11-00623Dice (male)

Lab Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Vaccinations Current

Dice is a male Labradinger (Lab/Springer mix); 15 mos. as of Sept. 2015. Up-to-date on vaccinations, neutered, micro-chipped. Dice has had a bit of a storied start in life - he was initially surrendered by his first owner due to lack of time to spend with an active puppy and then adopted by a young college student. The college student made a poor decision to bring Dice home and then throw a party where Dice was thrown into the mix of new surroundings, lots of young partying people, loud music, etc - Dice got spooked and nipped at someone. The college student then decided that she no longer wanted Dice. Dice was then adopted out to ... (Read More)another family and had a bit of a rocky start with a younger child and was once again, returned. Dice has since been through vigorous temperament testing with a trained professional and has not acted out in any way - he has passed all tests but his training will not stop here - we will continue to work with Dice so that hopefully his next adoption will be a permanent one. Dice really is a very good dog, he's just been put in tough situations - we are certain with proper training (of dog and of owner) and proper introductions to new environments, Dice will do just fine. We do recommend, however, that he not be placed into a home with young children who are not able to understand how to respect a dog's space and what the signs are that a dog is becoming agitated. So, if you're looking for an active, sweet, all-around good young dog to add to your family, he could be the one. Won't you at least give him a chance to show you how wonderful he is - stop in for a visit and see for yourself! Yorkie Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Peanut is fostered in Oak Creek WI, 53154 through United Yorkie Rescue http://www.unitedyorkierescue.org. To find out more about Peanut, contact her foster momma at: debra.ross@usbank.com Peanut is a 4 year old, 15 pound Yorkie-mix girl who came to United Yorkie Rescue in June 2015. Peanut has anxiety issues, which we are working to correct, however she needs a stay at home owner who's able to keep her active, and continue to work with her on her anxiety challenges. A trait of her anxiety is licking the bottom half of doors, which seems to be like nail biting humans. There does not seem to be a reason for her to do this, but she's picked ... (Read More)this habit up along the way at some point, and we're working to correct her habit. Peanut does not crate, its part of her anxiety, she has a hardy appetite and loves to go for long walks. This girl is so outgoing otherwise, you can play somewhat rough and tumble with her, she loves to have toys through for her so she can run and get them, and she loves tug-o-war with her pull toy. Some toys and other objects she gets ahold of are shred material, so she must be watched carefully as she will shred plastic bags (potential suffocation hazard), paper, and other objects. She acts like a puppy still! (and needs a watchful eye) Peanut is working on her potty training but sometimes has accidents, although she's doing much better. She's good with other dogs and respectful OLDER children. Sudden noises that startle her have caused her to nip in the past. She loves sleeping in bed with her foster momma at night. Lab Mix    Age: Young Adult

Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Silas was found by a concerned citizen after being placed in his kennel on the side of the freeway in the Woodville, Wisconsin area - his kennel was found in a ravine. When the woman came upon him he was out of his kennel running into traffic so she did the only thing she could think of to do and grabbed him and called us here at GGOH. His ear was torn and bleeding, presumably from breaking out of his kennel. His kennel had been broken on one side and had been taped together with electrical tape making it possible to break open with little force, which Silas had done to escape it's contents. Silas had been left in this kennel with dirty ... (Read More)blankets and an old garbage bag filled with rotting garbage - to put it mildly, the kennel was filthy! Can you imagine; this is how someone left their family pet. Breaks our heart! Silas is a great black lab with a big heart. He wants nothing but to be loved and have some guidance from a faithful new friend. He is approx. 3 - 4 years old; up-to-date on vaccines and is neutered. He's doing well with his training and is sure to make a wonderful family pet given the chance. Someone out there discarded this poor boy with their trash - such a shame. Let's find Silas a new loving home where he will know love like no other - he deserves it! Jack Russell Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Before inquiring on Shaney and Miley, please note that we have a 100 mile radius adoption policy and we are located in New Richmond, WI. Please see our website for full details. www.ggohinc.com Shaney & Miley are mother and daughter and are very bonded; both have been residing at GGOH since 11/ 2009. These girls have been with GGOH since they were brought in from one of our rescue missions on a reservation in South Dakota. Shaney, Miley and Bandit (who has been adopted) were taken after they were found beaten, with broken jaws and multiple injuries. It was reported by persons on the reservation that Shaney and Bandit were trying to save ... (Read More)their puppies (who all perished) who were being beaten by some children and in their attempts, they were hit with baseball bats, breaking their jaws and Shaney's ear. It was heartbreaking to know they had suffered so much but it was heartwarming to know we were there and could get them out safely. Shaney, Miley and Bandit came to GGOH where they had to learn to trust and understand the world was not always a scary painful place. Miley was Bandit and Shaney's daughter from a previous birth so mom and daughter rely on each other heavily. Both love to go for walks and are great on their leashes. Love to snuggle and just be with you. They will need some time to adjust to a new environment but will do great with an individual or a family, with older children, who will give them love and patience. They are ok with cats but do have some issues with other dogs as they are afraid of them sometimes due to their beginnings, running among the packs. We know they are special souls who just need understanding and a peaceful place to call 'home'. Red Heeler mixes; approx. 6 1/2 and 5 1/2 yrs old (as of December 2014). Please don't overlook these wonderful pups ~ we know you would be happy with them, if you just gave them the chance they deserve. Boxer Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

My name is Toby and I am SO happy that I was rescued from a really crowded shelter in North Carolina. I was a stray and I don't know why my owner never came to claim me because I've just the best dog--and I'm cute too! (My foster mom loves my ears-one up and one down-and they make her laugh. She says I'm the perfect dog for people who can't decide what 'style' of ears they like best.) By the way, please don't let my serious, frowny face mislead you. I'm extroverted and charming and I make friends wherever I go. If I do say so myself, I'm the perfect size (about 35 lbs.), the perfect age (a little less than a year of age) and I have the ... (Read More)perfect pedigree (a unique 'designer dog' mix of Boxer, Pug, Terrier, and a few other breeds too). I'm very smart and my foster mom thinks I'd make a good agility dog because I'm very athletic--and you should see me jump! I love people and other dogs, and I adore playing with my bouncy ball. I'm housebroken and although I'm well behaved, I have lots of energy so I'd like a home that has a safely fenced yard (please, no invisible fencing). I'd love to have a doggie playmate and I would prefer not to be a latchkey dog. (An adopter who works at home, is retired, or works part time would be a good fit for me.) I'm neutered, immunized, heartworm tested (negative) and I'm even microchipped. My adoption fee is $275--but, in reality, I'm priceless. (Hey, I'm modest too!) Seriously, I want soooo badly to have my own home, my own family, and my own special person. I'm ready to go home with the perfect adopter, so if you think you would be a good fit for me, please write to my foster mom at: rehome@onestarfish.net and tell her about yourself-your daily schedule, if you have a fenced yard, if you have other pets, etc. After that, if she feels I'd be a good fit for you, she will e-mail you an adoption application to fill out and then we can schedule a meet-and-greet. Please note: We do not operate a humane society or shelter, so we do not have a facility that is open to the public. Our dogs are fostered by volunteers in private homes, and are not available for viewing until an adoption application is filled out and references are checked. Rescue Me ID: 15-02-22-00440Alfie (male)

Chihuahua Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered

Alfie is the sweetest, happiest little dog! He has very soft fur, he is very cuddly and loving, and he is fairly quiet for a young dog. He gets along well with other dogs (and, although we don't have a cat, we're guessing he would be fine with kitties). Our best guess-based on his size and weight (15 lbs.) is that Alfie is a Chihuahua mix. As you can see, he has one ear that flops over and one that stands up straight. Isn't this the cutest thing ever? Alfie is a little less than a year of age and is very well behaved, although he is still a 'puppy' when it comes to chewing. He seems to be pretty well house trained, but would need to be taken ... (Read More)out on a regular basis to polish up his pottying skills. He would also benefit from enrolling in puppy obedience classes so that he can learn a few basic skills. Because he's fairly small, a young child might inadvertently injure him, so--if a family is interested in adopting him--a family with older children would be the best fit for him. He would enjoy a safely fenced yard (please, no invisible fencing) and possibly a doggie playmate. Alfie would prefer not to be a latchkey dog, so an adopter who works out of his/her home, works part time, or is retired would be best for him. Alfie is completely vetted (he's been neutered, immunized, checked for intestinal parasites, and microchipped) and his adoption fee is $275. If you feel Alfie would be a good fit for you (and vice versa) please e-mail his foster mom at: rehome@onestarfish.net and tell her a little about your daily schedule, other family members, if you have a fenced yard and/or other pets, etc. Then, if we all agree that Alfie might be the right dog for you, Alfie's foster mom will send you an adoption application to fill out-after which time a 'meet and greet' can be arranged. Please refer to our Petfinder home page to read more about our rescue's adoption policies and fees. We do not operate a humane society or shelter, so we do not have a facility that is open to the public. Our dogs are fostered by volunteers in private homes, and are not available for viewing until an adoption application is filled out and references are checked. Rat Terrier    Age: Adult

Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Where IS everybody? Bandit is starting to wonder, 'Why has no one adopted me?' Is it his name? Surely everyone knows he's no outlaw. The only thing Bandit will steal is the heart of anyone who looks into his handsome eyes. Could it be his age? No way! People must know that 7 is at the lower end of middle age for a Rat Terrier. And Bandit, at 22 lbs., demonstrates the playfulness (and cuteness) of a puppy. It's true that certain things (like meeting new men) can be stressful for him and that he will need a patient adopter who's willing to meet him several times before taking him home for good. It's also true that he can bark vigorously at ... (Read More)other dogs and small critters like squirrels and rabbits when he's out walking on leash and that his prey drive dictates that he live in a home without cats or other small animals. But Bandit knows that the Milwaukee area must have at least a few loving people with a suitable home, and he's just asking for one of them to look into his eyes and imagine what life could be like with him at your side. In his foster home, Bandit enjoys a short morning walk before the family leaves for school and work. Then this fully house-trained fellow is free to roam the house until they come home. They know he'll be a good boy. When his family arrives home, he eats his dinner and then joins in the family activities. Bandit will watch the children play games, join an adult while finishing chores, or snuggle with anyone who is sitting on a couch with a fuzzy blanket. Do you feel like pulling out a dog toy for some active play with Bandit? Or have you had a long day and prefer to chill? Either is fine with him. He's incredibly faithful and flexible. Bandit wants a chance to be someone's amazingly loyal friend. Take a chance and check out the pictures and videos in his online album at http://imageevent.com/newrattitude/bandit . ========================================================================================If you are interested in adopting Bandit, please go to New Rattitude's website at http://www.NewRattitude.org/adopt.htm, where there is detailed information and a link to our adoption application. After a good play, Agnes is very affectionate and loving, wanting to share herself with just one person at a time before moving on to cuddle with another human friend. PIease Read Before Adopting a Dog in Wisconsin
Dogs can make good pets in Wisconsin if they match your IifestyIe. Dogs have a reputation for being "man's best friend" for excellent reasons. Dogs are wonderful companions. Many breeds, in addition to being affectionate, devoted members of the family, are useful working dogs and guardians. Most dogs form tight bonds with their humans, and need to be cared for like the valuable family members they are. But sadly, some owners do not live up to the responsibility and involvement it takes to properly care for a dog throughout its life. Dogs can become the victims of neglect or active abuse. Some dogs receive tender, attentive care from their owners, but no longer have a home after their owner passes away or experiences a major life event that makes him unable to keep his dog. There are many more dogs than there are homes for dogs, and dogs that are not spayed or neutered can accidentally produce large numbers of puppies, exacerbating overpopulation. For this reason, three to four million dogs, many of them perfectly healthy and wonderful animals, are euthanized in the U.S. each year.

Many people get excited about owning a new dog, decide to get a puppy, and then pick one out at a pet shop or visit a breeder with a new litter. However, there are so many wonderful, friendly dogs in need of adoption, including puppies and purebreds. Some of these dogs might even be a better fit for a family than a new puppy; for instance, some adult dogs in need of adoption are already housebroken and obedience trained. Adoption is typically much less expensive than purchasing a dog. People who adopt dogs find the experience extremely rewarding, bond very closely with their dogs, and have the added satisfaction of knowing that one less animal has to be euthanized. If your family is ready for a canine companion, please consider adopting a dog!

lnteresting Dog Trivia Low-Cost Wisconsin Spay & Neuter Clinics
All dogs, even cute little lap dogs, are ultimately descended from domesticated wolves. There are hundreds of dog breeds with extremely varied characteristics and sizes, from the tiniest teacup Chihuahua to the hugest Mastiff, but all of these breeds make up just one species Canis lupus familiaris and can theoretically breed with one another (although there can be practical and health related constraints.) The dog was the earliest domesticated animal. Dogs are red-green colorblind. Dogs can hear much lower frequencies than humans, over twice as high as humans, and about four times as far as humans.
