This is my beautiful 10 month old purebred German Shorthaired Pointer, Comet. It saddens me to have to find her a new home but my relationship with my boyfriend depends on it. I work at a doggie daycare & the family that got her from the breeder took her to our training classes as a 'last resort' (they apparently didn't know GSPs are VERY high energy! especially Comet) After a few weeks of them occasionally showing up to class, they decided to surrender her to me to foster her. After a week of fostering her, I decided to keep her! I got her updated on all of her vaccines and I got her spayed a month ago! She is the best dog. I just love ... (Read More)her so so much. She has the best attitude, LOVES to play, swim, fetch, and learn new things (she is VERY smart, and a very fast learner) She is great with other dogs, cats and kids. She loves to cuddle and get love :) Because I work at a doggie daycare, she gets to come with me every day and play with all the other dogs. It's 6 hours of play at work, and then after work I take her to the dog park to run around and swim as well! My days off are dedicated to Comet by exercising her, going to different dog parks, etc. So she gets PLENTY of exercise! That is not an issue! I have had Comet for two months now, and she has very severe separation anxiety & often paces back and forth in the house (even after a full day of play/run) during the few hours before bedtime. (I feel this problem comes from her past family that neglected her, they crated her only to let her out to potty, and was often hit for jumping up) Since I've had her, I can't go into the bathroom even without her screaming/barking & scratching at the door (not enough to damage) for me. If she spots me at work while she is in playgroup she will do the same. After a full day of play at work and at the dog park, we will go home and the few hours before bedtime, she will pace back and forth & want to go outside and come inside etc. And unfortunately, this is why I have to find her a new home :( I am looking for someone who knows this breed & who has a lot of patience. It is very easy to fall in love with Comet at first meet! She is a WONDERFUL dog! And it breaks my heart everyday to look at her and know someday I won't have her anymore... But she has an 'issue' that needs to be trained/curved. Unfortunately, I can't be that person.... I have two other dogs, and my boyfriend is at his whits end. Comet needs an owner that is very VERY active, patient, kind, and persistent. She needs training for her separation anxiety, and I don't know why she paces back and forth at night (maybe OCD, I know this breed is very common for that) but with the right owner I know she has a very bright future! We have a wonderful Shepherd/Husky mix that has a few problems that we are unable to work with in our current situation. He is blind in the right eye so his perception is off and runs into things a lot. He also has an extreme fear of most loud noises including wind and anything with an engine. we have never been able to train him as he has virtually no interest in any reward system which leads him to be uncontrollable when outside. He loves children but is unaware that he has a tendency to knock then over and step on them. We still love him but we know he needs a lot of attention that we are unable to give him. Because of the terrible state of his fur and the extreme pain he was in from the matting and snarls we had to have him completely shaved to improve his condition, in fact the only way to shave him and minimize his pain, he had to be sedated. Needless to say he doesn't quite look exactly as pictured anymore, but his hair will grow back and be his once handsome self again. Now I am only requesting an adoption fee in hopes of weeding out any rif-raf that would attempt to again hoodwink me into thinking they could be responsible pet owners. Very sweet loving puppy. Energetic loves to play. I got him while i was married and one of us could always have time to play with him and keep him happy, now i cant be around all the time so he is cooped up inside. its unfair to him. he loves to play with children, go for car rides and just run around. He was having seizures but since he began receiving medication the seizures have stopped. The medication is $15 dollars a month where I've been getting it so its not a wallet breaker. This is a dog that will be put down very soon by my neighbor. Neighbor will give the dog to me. He's got a hole in dug in the yard already. It surprised me, because these are very nice people. i asked him, and he said the dog had some accidents in the house. A friend of mine took him in and found herself in a situation where she could not keep him. As of May 4, 2013 Milo is still in the shelter and in need of a new home. Milo does not know how close he came to death. Milo came in as a stray with a new rabies tag on. The shelter contacted the owner and he came to pick Milo up. Meet Rex Robert! A neutered, 9 year old, Australian cattle dog (red heeler) up to date on his shots and heartworm negative. He weighs in at about 40 pounds. He has been in my home since January of 2006, when I adopted him from the Dane County Humane Society where he was surrendered by his abusive first owner (I only know this because DCHS gave me all the intake paperwork). He was mistreated by his first owner, with a severely broken leg being the final injury. Rather than get him medical treatment, the owner took him to the vet to be euthanized (a week after the injury occurred). The vet convinced him to surrender him to the humane ... (Read More)society for treatment and rehoming. The humane society was only able to partially fix the leg because of the time from injury to treatment. Because of that, his back right leg is fused and does not bend. He can still run fast though! I adopted him about a month after his surgery. He did have a second surgery on that leg to remove the pins that held the knee together. He's not had any issues with that leg since the pins were removed. His back left leg needed surgery when he was about 5 because of the extra work it has to do. I had a TTA surgery done on him, replacing his ACL with a titanium plate. He's not had any issues since then - and still loves to run and fetch more than anything in the world. Rex is a wonderful dog in many ways. I am looking for a new home for him because he is not comfortable around my newly adopted toddler. Though he has never bitten anyone, he will growl if scared (or lunge if behind a gate). I want him to feel safe and comfortable. Because of the unpredictability of my toddler, I have to keep him gated in a guest room most of the time. All he wants in life is to be next to his safe human, so being locked away from me is misery for him. He has lived with another cattle dog (a female) for about 7 years. I believe he would prefer to be an only dog though, or perhaps live with a non-dominant female. I teach part-time at a local dog training center, so Rex has been trained in obedience and agility. He is incredibly gentle and obedient, but I discontinued classes because he tends to go after small fuzzy white dogs that look like bunnies. He's okay with that because his favorite things to do include chasing balls and Frisbees in my fenced back yard. More specifics about my boy: Incredibly loyal, loving, friendly to HIS humans. Scared and suspicious around strangers (he will either pee or growl if approached by large, strangers). It would be imperative that his new family keep him safely away from strangers - he is comfortable being gated in a room if guests are coming over. He would much rather hibernate than be forced to socialize with many people. He just wants to be near HIS people. He is calm in the house. Happy to lie quietly as long as he has been exercised and is near his human. Cat friendly (though he will gently chase my cat, who thankfully tolerates it). He is okay in the car - needs to be kenneled and will bark anxiously. I have taken him on long road trips - he is quieter on long road trips than on rides around town (he barks anxiously when nearing his favorite places). He is good on the leash, though he does get excited and anxious when we pass other dogs. I simply put him in a sit or down and allow the other dog to pass. I did try him on Prozac for several months but saw no changes to his behavior so I discontinued it. I have recently started to give him St. John's Wort (too early to tell if it's working). In short, Rex is a great dog that was dealt a bad hand in his first owner. He could be a great dog to someone who understands the needs of a fearful dog. Recommended home: First, I would not recommend him for a home that has not experienced a herding dog. He would probably do best with a couple or single. A fenced yard would be preferred so he could be exercised without the risk of interaction with a strange dog or strange human. He is an inside dog - could not be left outside, kenneled or not. He is a great, calm house dog. He is happy to sit outside and watch the world go by, as long as his human is not far away. Evaluation: If you are interested in Rex, I would ideally like to meet you, but unless you are in the Upper Midwest, I would be okay with some Skype and/or phone conversations. Hello, I'm Lita a really great seven year old female weim. I love to walk, take runs, flush birds, go for rides, and be with my other Weim friend DejaBlue. I get along really well with other dogs, men, women and older children. Dogs can make good pets in Wisconsin if they match your IifestyIe. Dogs have a reputation for being "man's best friend" for excellent reasons. Dogs are wonderful companions. Many breeds, in addition to being affectionate, devoted members of the family, are useful working dogs and guardians. Most dogs form tight bonds with their humans, and need to be cared for like the valuable family members they are. But sadly, some owners do not live up to the responsibility and involvement it takes to properly care for a dog throughout its life. Dogs can become the victims of neglect or active abuse. Some dogs receive tender, attentive care from their owners, but no longer have a home after their owner passes away or experiences a major life event that makes him unable to keep his dog. There are many more dogs than there are homes for dogs, and dogs that are not spayed or neutered can accidentally produce large numbers of puppies, exacerbating overpopulation. For this reason, three to four million dogs, many of them perfectly healthy and wonderful animals, are euthanized in the U.S. each year. Many people get excited about owning a new dog, decide to get a puppy, and then pick one out at a pet shop or visit a breeder with a new litter. However, there are so many wonderful, friendly dogs in need of adoption, including puppies and purebreds. Some of these dogs might even be a better fit for a family than a new puppy; for instance, some adult dogs in need of adoption are already housebroken and obedience trained. Adoption is typically much less expensive than purchasing a dog. People who adopt dogs find the experience extremely rewarding, bond very closely with their dogs, and have the added satisfaction of knowing that one less animal has to be euthanized.
