Rescue Me ID: 17-10-16-00213Baby (female)
Baby is a 2 year old pure bred Roti: She was bought from a breeder that was very disreputable (our 25 yr old son went to pick Baby up at 10 weeks and saw how bad her environment was - knowing there may be difficulties he could not leave her there so purchased her to save her) Baby is lovable, the best walker on a leash, loves to sit close and desires lots of attention, enjoys a shower, and is great getting nails cut, loves the car/truck and long drives (she has had many 3-4 hours trips and really loves it) She has hip displacia (we have the xrays) and the Vet stated she would be fine until much later in life- however, she does not do well without daily medication. Baby is pretty sedate, and though she loves long walks she does not run around much. She is very smart and loving to the close adults in her life, and loves her 2 other doggie family members, but she takes from 3-4 meetings with a new adult ( who give her treats as an introduction) before she relaxes and is safe not to become aggressive. Baby was extremely anxious when we brought her home at 10 weeks. When she felt she was cornered she could get frightened and aggressive- It took a couple of weeks and she became very comfortable with the adults in the family. We have 7 grand children and Baby is put in the master bedroom when they are around- she cannot be trusted with them as a quick run or jump by a child can frighten Baby and she can become aggressive. Baby has never bitten anyone, we always make sure she is safe: We have worked with baby for 2 years to develop her and assess if she can handle children, but she cannot. If adults are not carefully introduced she can treat them as potential 'harmful' and be aggressive as well. In an adult world, Baby is the sweetest 'Baby' around. Just wants hugs and attention and willing to please and play. Given our young grand children we are trying to find Baby a home where she can grow and develop. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-10-14-00138Champ (male)
Hi! They call me Champ! I'm on a mission to find a forever family to live happily ever after with. Don't you think I'm handsome? What was it about me that drew you in? My stubby tail that makes my whole butt wiggle when I'm happy? Or maybe it was my massive muscles! I work out. I'm proud. My hobbies include SQUIRREL DUTY, lounging, giving high 5's, sniffing stuff, and did I mention SQUIRRELS?! Do you see any squirrels in my yard? My work speaks for itself. I'm a laid back kind guy. Wanna cuddle?! I'm totally down for Netflix and chill. Can we watch the HULK?! He reminds me of someone... I'll pretty much be your best friend for life if you let me sit on the couch with you. I love to meet new people too! Especially little people. I live with 3 littles (7, 10, and 13). I LOVE them. I also live with something my people call a 'cat' - to me, it's a squirrel. You know how I feel about squirrels by now. During my days, when I'm not on squirrel duty or snoozing, I like to go for a stroll around my 'hood. A few months ago, I was told that the little people couldn't walk me. I was just too big and strong (I work out, you know). So I worked real hard at learning how to walk nicely so the littles could hold my leash. Did I mention how much I love them? Sometimes on walks we come across other dogs - some big, some small. I'm not really interested in dog friends. They're cool to sniff but that's about it. As much as I love the family I'm bunking with, that squirr...I mean 'cat' and me just don't get along. I'd love a family that is similiar to these guys - a couple walks a day, some cuddles, maybe a soccer ball to deflate and maybe a yard that needs some squirrel protection. CHAMP - Reporting for duty!! I'm all ready to move in - I've been neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, microchipped, on flea/tick prevention. I like to keep a clean house.. I know potty breaks happen outside and eating things that aren't yours is off limits. I'll sleep in my crate if you ask me to, or on a bed beside you bed, or maybe in your bed?! If you would like to meet me, maybe give me some butt scratches, please message my humans! Tail wags, Champ (Less)

Animal ID: MK BCKAI-JJ British Columb (male)
FOSTERED IN CHRISTINA LAKE BRITISH COLUMBIA( CANADA. If interested please start by going to www.jcldr.com and put in an application on line. We will then contact you. No one is obligated by putting in an app. Kai is a sweet, goofy, people-loving dog. He is affectionate and loves physical contact. He is super snuggly and thinks he's a lap dog at times. He likes to be close to or touching his people. He also loves to touch nose to nose with his humans, and will sometimes give the tip of your nose a little nibble. He loves a good back and leg massage. Sometimes he'll back up into you and look over his shoulder as to say, 'hey, give me a massage!' He will sleep in his own bed, but is always up for a snuggle in the people bed, especially in the morning. He has been good with the small children he has met. He isn't much of a jumper, only occasionally when he gets excited the first time he meets someone. He will stay down when told to. He knows basic commands: sit, lay down, shake a paw, stay (needs work). He is learning to communicate with his voice and will make a low rumble to wake you up if he needs to go out in the morning. If it's something he really wants attention for, he will make a cute 'woo woo' sound at you. He is fine with fingers in his mouth and will let you brush his teeth (he has good teeth). He is cooperative with bathing and having his ears cleaned. He really is an easy to care for dog and doesn't get smelly. We aren't recommending small children specifically because we are not sure he will do well around them when living with them. NO CATS.. he has Catahoula hunting drive . He needs to be on leash or long line when out.. he will follow his nose and that is not good. He was returned from an adopter because they did not HEED our advice. That is why we foster dogs, so we can tell you their quirks and limitations. This is a GOOD dog with only a few limitations. We will be happy to disclose all of the little things that might not fit with your home. PLEASE.. give KAI the chance he deserves. The people that adopted him loved him but they failed him because they did not heed the advice we gave. They were sad to give him back but they wanted him to be the dog he could not be. Older children might be a match for Kai and also there might be a run easy female that he would like to buddy up with in a home. We aren't sure as that has not been tested out. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-09-20-00400Lulu (female)
Large Standard Poodle, blonde Very affectionate,exuberant- LOVES all people but also loves to break out to chase deer, squirrels and whatever. Needs active home with very large fenced in yard. Scent of prey overrides recall. She does NOT have 'papers' and we think there is possibly some other breed mix although parents appeared to be purebred.

Rescue Me ID: 17-09-13-00436BLUE (male)
I HAVE A 5-YEAR OLD BLUETICK COONHOUND I AM LOOKING TO REHOME WITH SOMEONE WHO POSSIBLY HUNTS BUT WITH AT LEAST A LARGE PROPERTY SO THAT HE CAN REALISE HIS FULL POTENTIAL IN THE WAY OF A LOT OF EXERCISE ETC. I HAVE MOVED TO VANCOUVER ISLAND AND, ALTHOUGH WE HAVE A FAIRLY LARGE GARDEN, BLUE KEEPS ESCAPING AND MAKING A NUISANCE OF HIMSELF WITH MY NEIGHBOURS PLUS THROWING HIMSELF AT OUR FENCE (WHICH IS NOT THAT STABLE) WHEN ANY KIND OF VEHICLE OR UPS TRUCK GOES BY. HE IS VERY BORED AND WE REALISE THAT WE ARE NOT EQUIPPED TO KEEP HIM AND HAVE HIM HAPPY AND FULFILLED. HE IS A BEAUTIFUL DOG, VERY AFFECTIONATE, KIND WITH NOT A MEAN BONE IN HIS BODY - JUST A TYPICAL HOUND! HE HAS HAD SOME BASIC TRAINING AS FAR AS HEELING, SITTING, COMING WHEN CALLED (MOST OF THE TIME) ETC. ANYONE INTERESTED IN SEEING IF HE MIGHT BE A 'FIT' AND CAN COME TO SEE HIM IN QUALICUM BEACH ON VANCOUVER ISLAND, BRITISH COLUMBIA, CANADA SHOULD CALL: 1-250-594-6462 ONLY SERIOUS ENQUIRIES PLEASE. |Rescue Me ID: 17-09-08-00040Chase (male)|
Here is Chase (male). Age: 8-9 months old Breed: Husky Neutered, vaccinated and healthy Very affectionate, energetic and people oriented. Good with dogs and children. Has not been tested with cats. He has a limp due to an old improperly healed break to his back paw. The old break does not bother him at all and does not slow him down at all. It's likely that he was used as a hunting dog before his leg was broken, and thrown onto the street after the break. Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VW_kx9AmncY

Rescue Me ID: 17-08-26-00040Corey (female)
Spayed English Bulldog who is a real sweetheart. She prefers a quiet, calm household and although fine with respectful children she was originally taken from being a brood bitch to a home where the kids were not respectful of her, so she can be wary of children. Excellent with other dogs and cats.

Rescue Me ID: 17-08-14-00078Zuma (male)
Zuma is a gorgeous young black mouth cur. He has a high energy level that is not compatible with our family lifestyle since an injury has left the main owner less active. He has a strong personality that requires someone familiar with training dogs and also with his breed specific needs.

PIease Read Before Adopting a Dog in Canada
Dogs can make good pets in Canada if they match your IifestyIe. Dogs have a reputation for being "man's best friend" for excellent reasons. Dogs are wonderful companions. Many breeds, in addition to being affectionate, devoted members of the family, are useful working dogs and guardians. Most dogs form tight bonds with their humans, and need to be cared for like the valuable family members they are. But sadly, some owners do not live up to the responsibility and involvement it takes to properly care for a dog throughout its life. Dogs can become the victims of neglect or active abuse. Some dogs receive tender, attentive care from their owners, but no longer have a home after their owner passes away or experiences a major life event that makes him unable to keep his dog. There are many more dogs than there are homes for dogs, and dogs that are not spayed or neutered can accidentally produce large numbers of puppies, exacerbating overpopulation. For this reason, three to four million dogs, many of them perfectly healthy and wonderful animals, are euthanized in the U.S. each year.
Many people get excited about owning a new dog, decide to get a puppy, and then pick one out at a pet shop or visit a breeder with a new litter. However, there are so many wonderful, friendly dogs in need of adoption, including puppies and purebreds. Some of these dogs might even be a better fit for a family than a new puppy; for instance, some adult dogs in need of adoption are already housebroken and obedience trained. Adoption is typically much less expensive than purchasing a dog. People who adopt dogs find the experience extremely rewarding, bond very closely with their dogs, and have the added satisfaction of knowing that one less animal has to be euthanized. If your family is ready for a canine companion, please consider adopting a dog!
