Rescue Me ID: 17-12-13-00286Tucker (male)
Just 11 months old and very healthy, Tucker is a great big goofy bundle of love, licks and leaps. He is a black and tan German Shepherd Labrador Retriever mix for adoption in Peace River, AB, or anywhere within a reasonable distance, including Grande Prairie. Fixed, shots, microchipped, house trained, and very smart. Good with bigger kids and other dogs, but likes to chase cats. Tucker the German Shepherd Labrador Retriever mix dog is being placed for adoption by owner for the following reason: Moving to Australia for work and will not be able to bring him unfortunately. Supplies and vet records included. Adopt this 'diamond in the ruff' today! (Less)

Anatolian - Needs to be with experienced LGD owner with working Farm. We have had him since a pup. Basic training, plus extra and basic trailing; his recall sucks. Needs to be working on a farm...he is not okay with strangers or children. We tried to make him a pet. He has food allergies and gets yeast infections. He is so smart and fun when he is happy and relaxed. He loves sqeaky toys and tug.He loves car rides and the walking in lakes and ponds. Hiking with him has been my greatest pleasure but he frightens us now too.

Rescue Me ID: 17-11-27-00009Amanzi (male)
Unfortunately, I must rehome my puppy due to devastating circumstances of having to move myself and don't feel the outcome to be fair for my dog. So I am trying to find someone who can provide him with unconditional love he deserves as I can promise you he will do the same. Amanzi is a husky/shepherd mix. He is 7 months old and my boy has got the most beautiful baby blue eyes. He is up to date with all his vaccines and is due for a neuter in December. I got him at 7 weeks old and raising him till now has been a blessing. He drove me straight to insanity for five months but I love him still, more than anything. He is SUCH a clever pup! He learns incredibly fast and has a very friendly charm. He's going to grow up to be a big active boy as he is now as a teenager. Amanzi loves basically everybody he meets and is always wanting your attention. Because he's still a puppy, he can be a little clingy and feels the need to be really close to me as his owner. So somebody who can help be there for him, but at the same time help him create a little distance and space as he grows up is so important. Again, because he's still going through his puppy stage he can be a little mouthy sometimes. He is generally obedient but needs a strong and consistent reminder to make sure we establish who is in charge, especially at his age. I have included an adoption fee in this listing, but this is only to make sure the people who would like to inquire are serious adopters. I want to assure you that I am not looking to make money but only and only a serious and worthy adopter. If you think you are interested and able in giving a home to Amanzi please contact me directly and I'd like to ask a few questions and essentially set up a time for you to meet him. I want to make sure I find him a family I can trust will give him the loving home he deserves. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-11-03-00162ENY (female)
Meet Eny! Female, ~ 10-12 months old (born fall 2016). Heigth: 50-55 cm Weight: ~20 kg Neutered/Castrated: yes Breed: a mix of Shepherd Health (any medical problems?) No. Vaccinations are up to date. Microchip: Yes Good with people (adults)? Great! Very loving and playful. Good with children? Great, but since she is very active she may push a very small child by accident. Good with other dogs? Yes Good with cats? We do not know. Can stay alone for few hours? As she's not housebroken yet, it's best to have an option of some kind of isolation, a crate or room with tile floor and nothing to chew. Car rides / car sickness? Good in the car. Housebroken? Working on it! She's a smart girl and wants to please her owner. Giving her good walks for energy outlet will be key. Walks on the leash? Yes but pulls from excitement. Long walks will help to calm her down. She likes to chase the ball! Fearful? Not at all Affectionate? Very affectionate Dominant? No History/where found? Eny was snagged by dog catchers on the streets on Minsk (Belarus) and was taken to the euthanasia station. Every month or so, our rescuers are given 10 minutes to go into the shelter and save some dogs. Eny was one of the lucky ones and was taken to Moscow where she lived in a more humane shelter. She then made the journey to Canada (Toronto) with a few other lucky pooches and is now looking for her final forever home or, a foster that can give her nice place in the mean time. What family / home would be best for this dog? An active individual or family with kids from 5 years and older would be ideal. A person/family that has time for long walks with her or who lives in a house with a yard where she can run a lot. She has a wonderful, playful and funny personality and lots of love to give. No doubt she will form a tight bond with her future family. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-10-16-00213Baby (female)
Baby is a 2 year old pure bred Roti: She was bought from a breeder that was very disreputable (our 25 yr old son went to pick Baby up at 10 weeks and saw how bad her environment was - knowing there may be difficulties he could not leave her there so purchased her to save her) Baby is lovable, the best walker on a leash, loves to sit close and desires lots of attention, enjoys a shower, and is great getting nails cut, loves the car/truck and long drives (she has had many 3-4 hours trips and really loves it) She has hip displacia (we have the xrays) and the Vet stated she would be fine until much later in life- however, she does not do well without daily medication. Baby is pretty sedate, and though she loves long walks she does not run around much. She is very smart and loving to the close adults in her life, and loves her 2 other doggie family members, but she takes from 3-4 meetings with a new adult ( who give her treats as an introduction) before she relaxes and is safe not to become aggressive. Baby was extremely anxious when we brought her home at 10 weeks. When she felt she was cornered she could get frightened and aggressive- It took a couple of weeks and she became very comfortable with the adults in the family. We have 7 grand children and Baby is put in the master bedroom when they are around- she cannot be trusted with them as a quick run or jump by a child can frighten Baby and she can become aggressive. Baby has never bitten anyone, we always make sure she is safe: We have worked with baby for 2 years to develop her and assess if she can handle children, but she cannot. If adults are not carefully introduced she can treat them as potential 'harmful' and be aggressive as well. In an adult world, Baby is the sweetest 'Baby' around. Just wants hugs and attention and willing to please and play. Given our young grand children we are trying to find Baby a home where she can grow and develop. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-10-14-00138Champ (male)
Hi! They call me Champ! I'm on a mission to find a forever family to live happily ever after with. Don't you think I'm handsome? What was it about me that drew you in? My stubby tail that makes my whole butt wiggle when I'm happy? Or maybe it was my massive muscles! I work out. I'm proud. My hobbies include SQUIRREL DUTY, lounging, giving high 5's, sniffing stuff, and did I mention SQUIRRELS?! Do you see any squirrels in my yard? My work speaks for itself. I'm a laid back kind guy. Wanna cuddle?! I'm totally down for Netflix and chill. Can we watch the HULK?! He reminds me of someone... I'll pretty much be your best friend for life if you let me sit on the couch with you. I love to meet new people too! Especially little people. I live with 3 littles (7, 10, and 13). I LOVE them. I also live with something my people call a 'cat' - to me, it's a squirrel. You know how I feel about squirrels by now. During my days, when I'm not on squirrel duty or snoozing, I like to go for a stroll around my 'hood. A few months ago, I was told that the little people couldn't walk me. I was just too big and strong (I work out, you know). So I worked real hard at learning how to walk nicely so the littles could hold my leash. Did I mention how much I love them? Sometimes on walks we come across other dogs - some big, some small. I'm not really interested in dog friends. They're cool to sniff but that's about it. As much as I love the family I'm bunking with, that squirr...I mean 'cat' and me just don't get along. I'd love a family that is similiar to these guys - a couple walks a day, some cuddles, maybe a soccer ball to deflate and maybe a yard that needs some squirrel protection. CHAMP - Reporting for duty!! I'm all ready to move in - I've been neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, microchipped, on flea/tick prevention. I like to keep a clean house.. I know potty breaks happen outside and eating things that aren't yours is off limits. I'll sleep in my crate if you ask me to, or on a bed beside you bed, or maybe in your bed?! If you would like to meet me, maybe give me some butt scratches, please message my humans! Tail wags, Champ (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-09-08-00040Chase (male)
Here is Chase (male). Age: 8-9 months old Breed: Husky Neutered, vaccinated and healthy Very affectionate, energetic and people oriented. Good with dogs and children. Has not been tested with cats. He has a limp due to an old improperly healed break to his back paw. The old break does not bother him at all and does not slow him down at all. It's likely that he was used as a hunting dog before his leg was broken, and thrown onto the street after the break. Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VW_kx9AmncY

Zuma is a gorgeous young black mouth cur. He has a high energy level that is not compatible with our family lifestyle since an injury has left the main owner less active. He has a strong personality that requires someone familiar with training dogs and also with his breed specific needs.

PIease Read Before Adopting a Dog in Canada
Dogs can make good pets in Canada if they match your IifestyIe. Dogs have a reputation for being "man's best friend" for excellent reasons. Dogs are wonderful companions. Many breeds, in addition to being affectionate, devoted members of the family, are useful working dogs and guardians. Most dogs form tight bonds with their humans, and need to be cared for like the valuable family members they are. But sadly, some owners do not live up to the responsibility and involvement it takes to properly care for a dog throughout its life. Dogs can become the victims of neglect or active abuse. Some dogs receive tender, attentive care from their owners, but no longer have a home after their owner passes away or experiences a major life event that makes him unable to keep his dog. There are many more dogs than there are homes for dogs, and dogs that are not spayed or neutered can accidentally produce large numbers of puppies, exacerbating overpopulation. For this reason, three to four million dogs, many of them perfectly healthy and wonderful animals, are euthanized in the U.S. each year.
Many people get excited about owning a new dog, decide to get a puppy, and then pick one out at a pet shop or visit a breeder with a new litter. However, there are so many wonderful, friendly dogs in need of adoption, including puppies and purebreds. Some of these dogs might even be a better fit for a family than a new puppy; for instance, some adult dogs in need of adoption are already housebroken and obedience trained. Adoption is typically much less expensive than purchasing a dog. People who adopt dogs find the experience extremely rewarding, bond very closely with their dogs, and have the added satisfaction of knowing that one less animal has to be euthanized. If your family is ready for a canine companion, please consider adopting a dog!
