Animal ID: need to findTanner (male)
We adopted Tanner in March and have fallen madly in love with him. So have our three kids who are ten and eight.(x2) He is our second GSP. He is cuddly, lovable and a good looking GSP. He immediately took a liking to our family and friends and fit right in. In fact, I believe he is even more affectionate with our kids because he has been rescued from an abused home. Apparently prior to living with us, he would be pent up in a crate for 10-14 hours a day. So when his is on our humble abode and yard, he acts like he has died and gone to heaven and is super happy. Until night time hits and he becomes a wee bit 'grouchy'. He seems to become territorial and not as eager to play with other dogs and kids. It is like he is overtired and his patience are worn. This is the reason we are trying to find a new home for him. Preferably without kids and an area where he can release his energy - a farm would be great. Trust me, it breaks our heart to let this young man go , but he truly needs more space to run, a home where they have more time for training him and simply giving him loads and loads of love. Please help us find him a good home. Thanks Krista (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-06-21-00087lulu (female)
current rescue, she was crated and not fed for long periods of time. Once she is back to proper weight, she will be spay. She does go after livestock and wants to chase cats and rabbits so left unattended with small animals would be a problem. Otherwise she is a loving dog and just wants a permanant place to live

Rescue Me ID: 16-06-20-00461Rocky (male)
My name is Rocky and I am approximately just under a year old. I was found roaming on the side of a highway in Ontario when a nice person rescued me. I lived with him and his dog for a while until I found a new foster home. I am currently living with a 7 year old boy and it was love at first sight. I love all people very much and I am a total cuddle bug. I get overly excited when I see other dogs on a walk and I pull on leash but my foster mom is working on that with me. I most definitely do not get along well with cats and I like chasing squirrels. I need to learn some manners and obedience but I am loyal, playful and goofy. Are you ready to make me the newest addition to your family? To adopt please visit our website by clicking this link http://bellanima.org/english/category/adoption/ and submit an adoption application. This step is extremely important for us to know who you are and understand what you want, need, and expect from your new family member and our rescue. Don't let them down. End the vicious cycle. Save a life. Foster or adopt today, gain a beautiful soul forever. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-05-10-00081Liana (female)
Hello future forever family!!! My name is Liana. I am a new refugee to Canada. I traveled all the way from a high kill shelter in Minsk Russia. I was really lucky to make it out of there alive. You see I am a unique black beauty. I am approximately between 4 and 5 years old. In Russia where I am from, black dogs often do not live long lives. Many people there are superstitious. My new foster mom has told me not to worry about that anymore. She says my beautiful tuxedo coat is ready for all occasions and that Canadians love diversity, its what makes us strong. I like living in my foster home. I live with two boys, that are sometimes loud, but I don't mind. I have two foster sisters. One is a doodle and the other is a chihuahua. At first I didn't like the chihuahua, she always wanted to help clean my ears. I told her in my own way, that I didn't like it and now we are best of friends. My foster mom tells me daily how proud she is of me. She says I am a trained professional indoors and in the back yard. I am a quiet lady after all. I do not beg for food, I use the washroom outside, I know better than to get into the garbage or destroy things, I can be left alone and will wait happily for your return. In the backyard, I like to look at the birds and watch for little animal critters. Oh, how I love to watch those little animals scurrying about. I get so excited, I just want to chase them so badly. I have left the backyard a couple of times to do so. My foster mom said that scared her, so she dog proofed the backyard and now, I can watch the animals again. Where I live there are many neighbourhood dogs. Sometimes there are some who don't like me. They come to the fence and growl or bark at me. I don't mind that, I have been bullied before. I know that ladies sit quietly and ignore those kind of dogs. I love to walk and love when we go hiking. My foster mom is helping me work on my leash skills. She likes to use a gentle leader with me. She says I am a strong little big dog. Honestly, I like to pull you when I am walking on leash. I get so excited to see new things and I really want to chase those little critters and I will use my voice to tell them so. My foster mom will loop two leashes together, attach them to my harness, and wrap them around her waist, when we are on hikes. This way her hands are free and I can help her get up hills faster. I am 64lbs and approximately 40 cm tall. I think I am part Lab and part Corgi. I am very healthy and up to date with all my vaccines. Although I like it very much here, I am in search of my forever family. Could this be you? (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-02-20-00184Bono (male)
Bono was adopted by FL Humane Society almost 2 years ago. My nephew owned the dog but was in a serious accident and could not care for Bono. We were in FL from Canada helping out and ended up caring for this dog. We tried to find an adopted home while we were there but had no luck.He did a week at All Elite Dog camp near Jacksonville and has made strides in his prey drive (cars & Squirrels). He is now in ON Canada and we are looking for a forever home for him. We have 3 dogs and a grandson and cannot take on another. Once introduced to people, which was minutes with us and trainers, he is lovely, sweet well behaved young dog. He sits, takes food gently, snuggles up to you, is a lovely companion with loads of potential. He needs a fenced in back yard and was good with the pack at camp and recently at a kennel. Does not like German Shepherds though. My sister has a golden doodle they got along well running & playing.day. Trainers said he was the sweetest, most trainable AB dog they'd ever had. We are working on leash skills as he was crated much of the time and walked very little. He is curious and gets distracted but is coming along. Serious inquiries only. We reserve the right to visit the home of potential adopters and get vet contact info. He requires a strong owner who understands the size and breed. We're unsure how is around children as he has yet to be introduced but we'd recommend no small children. (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Dog in Canada
Dogs can make good pets in Canada if they match your IifestyIe. Dogs have a reputation for being "man's best friend" for excellent reasons. Dogs are wonderful companions. Many breeds, in addition to being affectionate, devoted members of the family, are useful working dogs and guardians. Most dogs form tight bonds with their humans, and need to be cared for like the valuable family members they are. But sadly, some owners do not live up to the responsibility and involvement it takes to properly care for a dog throughout its life. Dogs can become the victims of neglect or active abuse. Some dogs receive tender, attentive care from their owners, but no longer have a home after their owner passes away or experiences a major life event that makes him unable to keep his dog. There are many more dogs than there are homes for dogs, and dogs that are not spayed or neutered can accidentally produce large numbers of puppies, exacerbating overpopulation. For this reason, three to four million dogs, many of them perfectly healthy and wonderful animals, are euthanized in the U.S. each year.
Many people get excited about owning a new dog, decide to get a puppy, and then pick one out at a pet shop or visit a breeder with a new litter. However, there are so many wonderful, friendly dogs in need of adoption, including puppies and purebreds. Some of these dogs might even be a better fit for a family than a new puppy; for instance, some adult dogs in need of adoption are already housebroken and obedience trained. Adoption is typically much less expensive than purchasing a dog. People who adopt dogs find the experience extremely rewarding, bond very closely with their dogs, and have the added satisfaction of knowing that one less animal has to be euthanized. If your family is ready for a canine companion, please consider adopting a dog!
