Hi my name is Rex and I am around 4-5 years young, and live in Fayetteville, NC. I am so excited to meet you! I love to get close to my people and have them pet me. I sit politely and wait for affection from humans. I really enjoy spending time in the house with my foster parents and their other dog, I just learned how to use the dog door. Kids scare me so I can't live in a house with children under 12. I like to chew on my dog bone and play with soft toys. Treats are a great way for me to learn, I really respond to them and am eager to work. Are you a walker or runner? If you touch my leash I am ready to go! My foster parents take me on a walk every day. I am so enthusiastic about exercise. I can't see out of my left eye because it was hurt a long time ago and I have some missing fur on my legs from laying in my own waste, but those things don't slow me down. Do you have space for my dog bed in your house? (Less)

|Rescue Me ID: 15-08-05-00430Xelda (female)|
Beautiful Xelda - look at that smile! - has been in the same home for all of her 3 years, with another pit mix 5 years older than her. She has always been around kids and is great and patient with them. Recently the home dynamics have changed and she needs to find a new home. She has a very high prey drive, a home without small pets is a must. Being an only pet is ideal. Since she has been a home body, new situations and objects frighten her. Her ideal human will have time to socialize her in new situations, introduce her to new experiences, and spend time exercising, working with, and training her. She is a dream boat who just needs the right home and human to let her shine!! (Less)

|PIease Read Before Adopting a Dog in New Caledonia|
Dogs can make good pets in New Caledonia if they match your IifestyIe. Dogs have a reputation for being "man's best friend" for excellent reasons. Dogs are wonderful companions. Many breeds, in addition to being affectionate, devoted members of the family, are useful working dogs and guardians. Most dogs form tight bonds with their humans, and need to be cared for like the valuable family members they are. But sadly, some owners do not live up to the responsibility and involvement it takes to properly care for a dog throughout its life. Dogs can become the victims of neglect or active abuse. Some dogs receive tender, attentive care from their owners, but no longer have a home after their owner passes away or experiences a major life event that makes him unable to keep his dog. There are many more dogs than there are homes for dogs, and dogs that are not spayed or neutered can accidentally produce large numbers of puppies, exacerbating overpopulation. For this reason, three to four million dogs, many of them perfectly healthy and wonderful animals, are euthanized in the U.S. each year.
Many people get excited about owning a new dog, decide to get a puppy, and then pick one out at a pet shop or visit a breeder with a new litter. However, there are so many wonderful, friendly dogs in need of adoption, including puppies and purebreds. Some of these dogs might even be a better fit for a family than a new puppy; for instance, some adult dogs in need of adoption are already housebroken and obedience trained. Adoption is typically much less expensive than purchasing a dog. People who adopt dogs find the experience extremely rewarding, bond very closely with their dogs, and have the added satisfaction of knowing that one less animal has to be euthanized. If your family is ready for a canine companion, please consider adopting a dog!
