Rescue Me ID: 14-11-01-00483Sissy (female)
Sissy is a beautiful, brown, chubby dachshund. She is 5 years old and a pure bred. She is loved greatly by her owner. Unfortunately, Sissy took a leap from her doghouse about 10 days ago and has paralyzed her back legs. She has been crated for rest to help her spine. She is taking steroids and a tummy medicine to try to assist with this injury. This is a common injury to the breed. She has rectal and bladder control and loves to wag her tail. She can go super fast on her front legs. Her big heart and zest for life brings me here to try to find her a new, loving home. Sissy is my mother's dog. My mother is elderly and physically unable to care for Sissy. Sissy will need to be an inside dog that has wheels on her back end to be able to move around. Her two front little legs move very quickly and work super well. Sissy is a delight, but my mother is physically not able to care for her in this paralyzed state. Sissy will be free to a great home only. She will make someone an awesome pet -- as my mom can not take care of her. We can not bear to put her down -- and we are praying that the right person with a huge heart will come along and save this sweet girl so she can live the rest of her life to the fullest! She is a true sweetie! (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 14-09-24-01243Lavender (female)
Living in a veterinarian's shelter. Short term only. MUST find forever home. Very sweet dog. An evaluation was specifically requested to observe if Lavender had aggression toward other dogs. During a basic handling procedures, (with no other dogs present), a slightly fearful behavior was observed when exiting the crate but quickly accepted hands upon her and exhibited a very playful bounding puppy-like personality. Leash walking was average with slight pulling but not constant. She has a tendency to jump up on people, but easily correctable. No obvious resource guarding was noted during treat drop and recover. Lavender is strongly food motivated. No aggression toward humans was noted. No extensive testing was done in this area. To test the level of aggression toward strange dogs, we simulated an off-leash dog park with five dogs approaching rapidly from over a hill. These helper dogs are trained to approach but submit under signs of aggression. Lavender handled the approaching pack with some trepidation, stiffening and typical fearful body language. Once the dogs were within contact range, she did wag her tail and pant. Although signs of mild stress were exhibited, she did not exhibit any aggression. (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Dog in Seychelles
Dogs can make good pets in Seychelles if they match your IifestyIe. Dogs have a reputation for being "man's best friend" for excellent reasons. Dogs are wonderful companions. Many breeds, in addition to being affectionate, devoted members of the family, are useful working dogs and guardians. Most dogs form tight bonds with their humans, and need to be cared for like the valuable family members they are. But sadly, some owners do not live up to the responsibility and involvement it takes to properly care for a dog throughout its life. Dogs can become the victims of neglect or active abuse. Some dogs receive tender, attentive care from their owners, but no longer have a home after their owner passes away or experiences a major life event that makes him unable to keep his dog. There are many more dogs than there are homes for dogs, and dogs that are not spayed or neutered can accidentally produce large numbers of puppies, exacerbating overpopulation. For this reason, three to four million dogs, many of them perfectly healthy and wonderful animals, are euthanized in the U.S. each year.
Many people get excited about owning a new dog, decide to get a puppy, and then pick one out at a pet shop or visit a breeder with a new litter. However, there are so many wonderful, friendly dogs in need of adoption, including puppies and purebreds. Some of these dogs might even be a better fit for a family than a new puppy; for instance, some adult dogs in need of adoption are already housebroken and obedience trained. Adoption is typically much less expensive than purchasing a dog. People who adopt dogs find the experience extremely rewarding, bond very closely with their dogs, and have the added satisfaction of knowing that one less animal has to be euthanized. If your family is ready for a canine companion, please consider adopting a dog!
