Rescue Me ID: 14-12-08-00799Agnette (female)

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Agnette is a victim of a car hit. She was hit by the car and left to die (unfortunately, it's a very common situation in Ukraine). She was found by a volunteer of 'Kovcheg' shelter in fall of 2013. Agnette was laying on the road during four cold rainy days. Agnetta was brought to a vet clinic and X-rays showed that her spine, ribs and left hind leg are injured. Money for Agnette's surgery were donated by many people. The surgery saved Agnetta's life, but nothing could be done to help her to walk again - she was left for too long without medical help after the car accident. After the accident volunteers tried to contact Agnette's owners at ... (Read More)the phone number indicated on a tag of Agnette's collar. But the owners refused to help Agnette and take her back home when they found out what has happened to her. Today Agnette feels fine. She is calm and loving dog and loves walking in her wheelchair. Agnette is protective and loyal to staff in the shelter. She will be a wonderful companion to the family that would commit to her. She is friendly with other dogs in the shelter, however, sometimes she is jealous when people pay more attention to other pets. All she needs now is loving family that won't betray her again - she doesn't deserve this. She would love to be the only pet in the family. Agnette is about 3-4 years old. She is spayed and with all up-to-date vaccinations. There is almost no hope for Agnette to find a forever home in Ukraine, so we are looking for a loving family abroad! If you want to adopt Agnette, we will prepare all necessary paperwork and arrange her transportation to USA. We understand that with such injuries, Lessie has no chance to find loving home in Ukraine, and we highly appreciate your willingness to adopt her. PIease Read Before Adopting a Dog in Ukraine
Dogs can make good pets in Ukraine if they match your IifestyIe. Dogs have a reputation for being "man's best friend" for excellent reasons. Dogs are wonderful companions. Many breeds, in addition to being affectionate, devoted members of the family, are useful working dogs and guardians. Most dogs form tight bonds with their humans, and need to be cared for like the valuable family members they are. But sadly, some owners do not live up to the responsibility and involvement it takes to properly care for a dog throughout its life. Dogs can become the victims of neglect or active abuse. Some dogs receive tender, attentive care from their owners, but no longer have a home after their owner passes away or experiences a major life event that makes him unable to keep his dog. There are many more dogs than there are homes for dogs, and dogs that are not spayed or neutered can accidentally produce large numbers of puppies, exacerbating overpopulation. For this reason, three to four million dogs, many of them perfectly healthy and wonderful animals, are euthanized in the U.S. each year.

Many people get excited about owning a new dog, decide to get a puppy, and then pick one out at a pet shop or visit a breeder with a new litter. However, there are so many wonderful, friendly dogs in need of adoption, including puppies and purebreds. Some of these dogs might even be a better fit for a family than a new puppy; for instance, some adult dogs in need of adoption are already housebroken and obedience trained. Adoption is typically much less expensive than purchasing a dog. People who adopt dogs find the experience extremely rewarding, bond very closely with their dogs, and have the added satisfaction of knowing that one less animal has to be euthanized. If your family is ready for a canine companion, please consider adopting a dog!
